[ROM][KANG]CM9 ICS 10.1 LTE Verizon Preview 01/31/12 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Development

Hello everyone,
I was asked to build ICS for the 10.1 LTE as there is no currently public build.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide to use it you shouldn't care about bugs.
I'll keep posting updates every day (if there is any reason for it). There will be no guaranteed support and I won't add user-specific features for anyone.
This is not my work - it's mostly from Pershoot & Cyanogen. This build uses Pershoot's GitHub as base for the device.
This is what came out:
Compiled 02/15/12:
http://dev-host.org/oE1 <- NEW
Compiled 01/30/12:
http://t.co/507NOnCM
GAPPS (4.0.4):
http://dev-host.org/8Re
If you like the builds you're welcome to donate for some Club Mate / Beer and new hardware.
I don't know what works and what not as I don't have a 10.1 LTE myself. p-slim wrote me, that the rom works great but he couldn't test 3G/4G yet.
Works:
WiFi
Untested / Don't know:
3G/4G
Won't work:
Camera
Installation:
Flash CWM if you've got none (I'm using the Overcome one)
Backup your current build
Wipe data
Flash my build
Flash the Gapps
Reboot (may take a few minutes)
Enjoy
USB MTP:
As some people requested me to do a little How-to for enabling MTP-mode:
Go into the settings
Choose storage
Tap the 3 dots in the upper right (menu)
Choose "USB computer connection"
Check "Media device (MTP)"
Done
Notice:
This is a pure Android rom and no Samsung rom. There won't be any unneeded additions like TouchWiz, My Files, or whatever.
Look in the Market for other/better apps if you're seriously missing something. I won't any additions/apps/whatever to this rom except I want to use it myself (not gonna happen).
Have fun,
Tim

Tested and rom is amazing. Everything works that works in the wifi and 3G roms. Here is the full screen bootanimation. Place in system/media

Nice work on compiling this!!! Been looking forward to some ICS for some time. ROM boots and everything appears to be working with the exception of 3G/4G Data.
Not seeing "Mobile networks" anywhere in the settings to mess around with. Going to try an app like AnyCut to see if it is buried in there. Will keep you posted.
Thanks again for your hard work!
Edit: Using AnyCut you can get to the APN settings. I restored to Honeycomb and took screen shots of all the APN settings. (there are several) Came back to ICS and attempted to start typing them in manually. Can't get it to take the settings. No "Ok" or "Save" button. Hitting back or outside of the box doesn't add the new APN settings to the list. I attached my screenshots to save others some time.

Must we pay for the d/l service to get this rom? Pass it to me and I will host it for d/l.

Don't think so - why do you ask? I can upload it to rapidshare, too.

Awesome! Thank you so much for compiling this! I'll definitely be switching to this and following the thread!

Good news for those with LTE's that don't use the modems.
Others need to sit back and wait patiently for modem support.

works awesome

is this prerooted? When I try to run Superuser from the drawer after it loads and I click settings the program closes.
Edit: It is rooted. Just the superuser app crashes when you go into settings.

Sorry für noob question, but is that ROM only for LTE or do this also work with a normal 3G Tab?

My bad. I had been trying to download it directly to my Galaxy Tab and would only get a file that was 10k in size. I assumed it was requiring me to purchase a subscription before I could download the whole file. Was subsequently able to d/l the main file once I got to my desktop.
After having loaded it which went without a hitch.... I can report that neither 3G or 4G are functional at this time.

Even though all the websites say APN backup apps don't work in ICS, I had to try anyway. It didn't, of course. But, what it did give me was all the APN settings in a nice XML file. Perhaps this will help someone else. I am going to keep trying other avenues.

Is the only ICS rom for the Verizon LTE GT 10.1
I just want to make sure that this is the only rom out for the verizon galaxy 10.1.
Also I know about the hd playback, the camera, no 3g/4g and other issues, but my market keeps foreclosing. Any ideals?
Otherwise this thing flys! I'll definitely donate if and when other features work.
Thank You for sharing.

Oh okay. Thanks for the quick reply!
And yes, market was messed right away. I installed gapps directly after I installed the rom and before I rebooted. And my hd playback is not working.
Perhaps I should do a wipe, then re-install.

Had it running for about 24hrs now... Running like a champ. This tablet if finally performing like it should. I have had no issues with the exception of wallet.
Unfortunately I don't have a Verizon account so I have no idea if 3/4g is working.
I'm currently trying several other camera apks to see if any work, I'm guessing that part of the kernel is broke.
As far as video I've had no issues. In either YouTube or G Video. At any rate a big thanks to seraphimserapis for this.
Hopefully we'll see more LTE dev now that US Cellular announced they're launching their version of the sch-i905

Use titanium backup, root explorer, or something similar to remove Google wallet, simple fix
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

THANK YOU for this. Installing this tonight! Because of the massive price difference between the LTE tab 10.1 and the Wi-Fi version, very few people have the LTE version. I'm really glad to see this happening. It's hard to watch how smooth my Galaxy Nexus is; it makes me not want to use my Tab 10.1 (because it's so slow by comparison). I think CM9 will make all the difference, even with a few things broken that (in my opinion) aren't too important. I definitely don't use my Tab 10.1 for its camera.

[MOD] 4G and MMS on O3D roms

Ive been running the O3D 10j firmware for a couple days now, havent upgraded to 10k yet but heres something to help out with mms/4g and how I got them working.
MMS is as simple as changing the apn. For whatever reason trying to change the default apn has been spotty for me, so what I do is just create a new apn with the following information:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
Now save that and select it as your default. mms should now be working. For whatever reason that is the only ATT apn info I could get to work with mms. If I try to use any other configuration for ATT I lose mms functionality. Which was frustrating because I kept copying the apn off my other ATT phones and mms would not work. Neither my Aria nor my Captivate need the password but apparently this phone NEEDS that password to get mms on P920 roms...
4G is a little more complicated and, at the moment, has a trade-off. So from here you have to make a decision, because I have as of yet been able to fix this issue. But you have to choose to either have 4G and use a 3rd party dialer/contacts app OR you can keep the default apps and not have 4g. You're call but here how its done. Go into /system/etc/flex/flex.xml and change it to read like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Flexinfo>
<Flexinfo
FLEX_COUNTRY_CODE="US"
FLEX_OPERATOR_CODE="ATT"
FLEX_MCC_CODE="310"
FLEX_MNC_CODE="410"
FLEX_REGION_CODE="0"
FLEX_SIMLOCK_ON="0"
FLEX_MODEL_CODE="0" />
</Flexinfo>
Now you should be getting the H+ symbol in the notification bar AND the up/down arrows. If you dont have the arrows then your apn is set incorrectly. If you dont have the H+ then you messed up in the flex.xml file.
Some notes:
Ive tried replacing the default Phone.apk/Contacts.apk with their equivalents from aosp roms, O3D roms, and Thrill roms. None of them have any affect on the issue. And trying to change the TelephonyProvider.apk has only resulted in frequent FC's. I can only assume its a framework issue but since I use a 3rd party dialer anyways Im not inclined to look into it.
I removed the default Contacts.apk because I got the occasional FC when ending a phone call. Removing it has no effect on anything since you cant use the default contacts app with the above 4G method. You have to keep the stock Phone.apk or you will lose the ability to make changes to your apn. It does not however affect your ability to make/receive calls with a 3rd party app. ContactsProvider.apk is also required or you wont be able to sync contacts to your phone.
Speaking of 3rd party dialers, Ive tested GoContacts and DialerOne so far and both work with no issues what so ever and have built in contacts functionality. Im going to assume there are many more that work as well.
So now theres really no excuse not to dive into the wide world of O3D roms!
EDIT: Just remembered that the time will be wrong after this too. Im trying to remember what I did to fix that. In the mean time you can go to menu>settings>Date & Time> and manually set the time. Its just that the GMT is being calculated incorrectly for each timezone so it gets the hour wrong so you need to set it manually. The minutes are correct though, you dont need to mess with those.
That's awesome news callmearia! Much appreciation for all the hard work you put in to get this working. Ill try this out 2nite when i get home. Thanks again

3g SHOULD just work. But if not then go into your stock rom and copy the contents of /system/etc/flex/flex.xml and oaste them into the same file on your o3d rom. You might also want to get the stock apn settings off your phone to setup an apn on your o3d rom. Just follow the directions from the original post. I would recommend trying to change the apn first an then if that doesnt work go ahead try modifying your flex.xml file necuse the latter can cause issues.

The apn wont add the h+. That's where the flex.xml comes in. The apn is just for mms.
I have ThaiZ booted right now but with Franlovs kernel and the only time I get a fc is if I try to use the stock dialer or contacts app. Is that what you're doing or are the fcs happening all the time? This is why the 3rd party dialer/contact app is required.

[selfkang] cm7.2

Hey folks,
Since no one else has done so, I just checkout CM7 sources from GitHub and made a fresh build. It seems to be working pretty well on my VZW Droid3, except for the camera which doesn't work at all. Anyway, I thought I'd share in case anyone else wants to test.
It's just stock CM7.2 + Hashcode, if you want other tweaks like OC you'll have to port them from other roms. I'd like to get the camera working but don't expect much as I don't have a lot of free time.

I'm assuming you tried the CM9 camera fix on CM7? Seems overly obvious, but I love CM7 on my DX and that's why I'm using it as my DD over the D3.

Very nice!
Can't download now, but someone test to see if a 3rd party camera app works. That was the case in the last version of CM7 I used on the D3, stock camera didn't work but others did (Camera Zoom FX for example).
I'll be flashing this ROM fairly soon (soon as in, tonight) and I'll give a third party camera app a try. I'll get back to you as to the results.
UPDATE 1: Just tried a third party camera app, no dice. Same black screen as the stock camera.
UPDATE 2: Notification LED is stuck on. Poking around the settings to see if I can get it to turn off...
same as Hashcode CM7.2 ver

This patch here did the trick:
GSM Patch:
http://www.2shared.com/file/ilFRwlr1/GSM_PATCH_1116_WithData.html
It's basically the GSM patch from an older thread about CM7. It works fine for 3G and calling and whatnot, and I haven't seen anything go horribly wrong with it. Obviously, I'll report back if anything does.
And my previous statement about a 3rd party app not working, I have to retract that statement, I just installed FxCamera and it works just fine. Barcode scanner seems to be in working order too.
Still testing, will report back if I encounter any other bugs.
UPDATE: Front Facing Camera definitely doesn't work. Same deal as on CM9 before, it comes up with nothing but static.

it isn't, (first thing i tried that patch)
Well, that's the patch that I used and it's working, but I did have to manually add the APNs in order to get 3G.
EDIT: I just read your signature properly. My phone is an XT862 and yours being an XT860 is probably why the patch isn't working for you. The two phones are somewhat different, but only in really subtle ways. I always hear about GSM patches being incompatible between the two. The patch that I linked seems to be for the XT862 and wont work with the XT860.

thanks for your reply probably you right
the main issue is when try to add new APN, normaley the MCC & MNC values are there, but If they are not (like in that case) it is useless because the APN will not be saved.
I'd love to CM7 running on this phone. Have you tried this fix posted for the DX? I currently run CM 7.1.0 on my DX and it's perfect... But it doesn't have a FFC to figure out.
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/cyanogenmod/31280-camera-camcorder-fix-cm7.html
Well, if anyone could possibly tell me where to start, I could probably look into the whole FFC issue, see if there was anything I could possibly do (with my limited knowledge).

the main issue is when try to add new APN, normaley the MCC & MNC values are there, but If they are not (like in that case) it is useless because the APN will not be saved.

you actually cant add/edit any apn information since it wont save or even seem to read/load values from the apns-conf.xml unless the sim card is recognized/working. it looks alot like the same problem we xt860 owners had on ics, once the sim card was recognized (thanks to rick2) everything worked.

I could but I would have to use the forum search which is available to all... Try "xt860 CM9 Working Data" as your search string, the thread was called something like that.

[Q] SCH-i800 [Phone Enable]

I really hate to start this back up about enabling phone support on sch-i800. But the lack of post/info about it is very annoying. We know that hardware is there to make it work. But how far is the software limiting us on this fact? I myself have mine on a voice plan with Page Plus and could in theory make call's if I can get the tab to support it. I have made it as far to get the Tab it self activated and programmed onto Page Plus, and Framework-res.apk edit for the dialer to show. But when it trys to call out it just shut's the call down and I'm back at the dialer. If anyone could shed a little light my way I would be grateful. Anymore apk's i should edit? more in the framework somewhere? Any info guys ? I have full service and 3g perfect on this thing.
CM10 with dialer from framework edit.

Hey Haxz...I grabbed just a 3rd party dialer..and it tries to make a call..and closes...I was wondering if you ever found a way in to Diag Mode on CM10 so edits can be done such as web settings and prl updates with qpst...I have mine running Cricket...Thanks..
Actually I was able to get into diag mode using a command line in terminal emulator. Looks like original post was by autoprime I think, so thanks to him. This line worked for me. echo MODEM USB > /sys/class/sec/switch/usb_sel. I was running cm9 roms also.

I found 2 scripts in the Sprint section that click click and you can switch between PDA and Modem..But one thing....I can get web settings to work under GB but no ICS/Jelly Bean Roms will work with Data period..I have re-checked the settings dozens of times..and nothing...One thing just in case you need the info...To change APN settings...I had to use the Sprint modem file...If you try to write in qpst with the Verizon modem file the settings won't take..Thanks for the response on it...
This thread is a few months old but I wanted to post that apparently the trick to getting voice back is to replace the modem.bin from a samsung fascinate because it's the same dialer hardware.
I haven't done this as it's beyond my abilities but I've read it elsewhere.
If anyone successfully tests this, perhaps they can make a clockworkmod zip file that we can flash over cm10.1

Enabling Download Booster [Status Update 5/4]

From what I've seen, download booster was only hidden in settings of S5 from the Consumer. I posted a thread in Sprint S5 talking about how to enable and thought I'd share here as well for general info.
If you'd like to assist in this project, send me a PM. Any and all help appreciated. (need someone who can edit smali as well)
----Enable Download Booster for All variants S5----
1. Download third party launcher
2. Long press homescreen
3. Select shortcuts -> activities
4.Scroll to settings and open
5. Scroll to Download Booster to add to screen
6. Tap new setting icon on homepage
7. Enable and profit
After enabling, you can see download booster in notification bar grayed out until usage. You CAN unistall third party launcher afterwards if you desire since download booster still activated.
Edit 4/16: WIP, still testing to see what may work. Any info towards file on variant where download booster is enabled would be appreciated (ie, extracting file from T mobile version and posting on forum). Will try to work on it. Currently looking into the S4 forums towards the path and edits needed to make it work.
EDIT 4/18: need framework-res.apk and SecSettings.apk from phone variant that has download booster as an option so I can try to port it to our device.
EDIT 4/23: so Ive gathered the T mobile versions of the apks and decompiled. Ive managed to get the download booster in Sprint Variant settings as of now and easy enable from touchwiz (see screenshot). Still working to fully enable.
EDIT 4/26: see post 30 screenshot, need to find this file location.
EDIT 4/26 #2: after help from miked63017 pointing me to a post by eyecon82, along with what I've found from various ROMs and Db files/etc, I have enabled Download Booster in the Notification Panel drop down (see screenshot). Now to get it fully working.
EDIT 4/28: after decompile of SystemUI, NWBooster actually has many places within, mostly smali edits needed to enabled under Network Controller. The Network Booster is actually related (by searching the SQLite Editor->Settings Storage->Settings.db->system->search for "Smart") to Smart Bonding to the Quick Tile for NWBooster. Also, through decompile of the SystemUI, under Network Controller, I noticed a ro.config.combined_signal (still deciding what this actually is based on file).
EDIT 5/4: I've linked the download booster (aka nwbooster/network booster/smart bonding) to WFC (also called Wificalling). By noticing that smartbonding (under settings.db from SettingsProvider) that Wificalling AND Download Booster both tripped the smart_bonding to become 1 from 0 (showing enabled). I looked again into the Settings.apk decompiled and found that DBooster IS linked to WifiCalling, meaning we get one enabled, we get both. I also know, that under /System/framework that TmoWfcUtils.jar exists which DOES have functioning into why T-mobile has both the Wificalling and Download Booster enabled. I believe this jar has something to do with Dbooster and it being enabled. If you'd like to assist in this project, please PM me.
Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything. Maybe (hopefully) it'll help the process along for a dev to find a way to truly implement the feature, but for right now...that toggle is just for show.
Download booster is already in my settings menu, I had a small update yesterday, not sure if that was part of it. I have not really tested it yet though.

Download booster is only turned off for AT&T and Verizon customers. Sprint and Tmobile are still allowing it due to truly unlimited plans.
Nuts...since havent posted my requisite 10 posts yet, Google is your friend about why and how you can get Download booster working...
Im sure one of the fine folks here at XDA will have a workaround in a day or two at the most. Just got my S5 today (tmobile) and was looking for a root workaround (Thanks Chainfire!).

Not option yet for Sprint/ATT/Verizon devices yet, I dont believe there has been update for our devices to enable this option. If you could see back to new update in OP, I need framework-res.apk and SecSettings.apk to see if I can port over to our phones since update may not come for some time (do not have ETA on when theyd do that).

Revelation, thats what I was saying. Someone will have a fix in the next couple days. Phone only came out the 13th. You guys know your stuff when it comes to getting rid of the stuff carriers add or break that the phone should be capable of doing anyhow.
And if I could post up speedtest jpg I would. 33Mb/s d/l and 6 Mb u/l. But the download booster wasnt lighting up on the status bar. So I am guessing it was just using wireless in the house.

Yeah, as of now until I can work on trying to get the booster to work via editing files and apks, the icon will be there yet no function. Hopefully it'll come in few days but, unless someone in community develops it first and ports, sprint I don't count on releasing update soon (hopefully wrong and sprint would do that). I'll be working on it as well as others to get this working.
Not on sprint.....

Revelation, how would one go about getting those apk's? After rooting I would imagine, but total noob here. I just use the ROMs after you guys cook them.
Currently still stock and no rooted yet on Tmobile. Just finished getting it all set up. Going from S2 with KitKat from Thddude to this thing is a bit of a change...LOL!

Since you have t mobile, you need root of course. Once rooted, use file explorer to navigate to individual apks and then basically copy/paste into another folder so you could post here. Secsettings.apk in system-> priv-app and framework-res.apk in system-> framework folder. OP had apks needed based on what I saw on S4 and what they extracted in S5. I'm going to dig in their first once I get t mobile or other variant files (preferably t mobile since only still US carrier to have download booster enabled as option). Hopefully if I find the source of where disabled, I can recompile the apks to work on all variants. If I don't find it in those apks, I'll keep looking based on what I see in other claims to being download booster enabled.

go to dropbox.com/s/l1tdljwtlv2yhu9/SecSettings.apk <<< remove spaces before dropbox to get that one.
same thing dropbox.com/s/936v90266784vt2/framework-res.apk <<<same thing. Just remove one space.
Hope that it helps out somewhat. Then I may feel like I actually contributed something.

SailfishOS 2.0 for the Touchpad

Hello guys!
Now that Jolla gave us Sailfish 2.0 (which should fit nicely for the Touchpad because of proper landscape mode), I decided to start porting it to the Touchpad.
So I am currently following the hadk guide (https://sailfishos.org/develop/hadk/).
Now I have a problem, maybe someone can help me out with.
In the guide on page 16, I have to create a manifest file with references to cyanogen source and kernel source.
The file which I created looks like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<manifest>
<project path="device/hp/tenderloin" name="CyanogenMod/android_device_hp_tenderloin" revision="cm-11.0" />
<project path="kernel/hp/tenderloin" name="invisiblek/android_kernel_hp_tenderloin" revision="cm-11.0" />
</manifest>
I chose the invisiblek kernel (https://github.com/invisiblek/android_kernel_hp_tenderloin/tree/cm-11.0), but I don't know if this is the right one. I would like to use the 3.4.106-tenderloin from jcsullins but I can't find it on github.
Also I get an error when trying to sync:
Code:
error: in `sync --fetch-submodules`: revision cm-11.0 in invisiblek/android_kernel_hp_tenderloin not found
OK, after hours of googling I found the github repositories of @jshafer817 (he ported sailfish successfully to the Touchpad).
So I took the manifest file from here https://github.com/jshafer817/SailFishOS.
And then doing
Code:
repo sync --fetch-submodules
This resulted in downloading several thousand files.
After half an hour or so I get the following error:
Code:
error: in `sync --fetch-submodules`: revision refs/tags/cm-11.0-XNPH44S-bacon-5fa8c79c0b in cyngn/android_vendor_cyngn not found
It seems that this repo is missing (http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/116446-android-vendor-cyngn-deleted-from-github-page/).
No idea how to fix this .
By the way, am I the only one who would like to see Sailfish 2.0 on the Touchpad?
This sounds very interesting I must say. I wish I was more of a developer and knowledgeable w/ Linux.
Doing this right now. =)

You got stuck on something, I think it was the wireless modules in boardconfig.mk, sfos can't compile those on the fly, so just remove from BoardConfig.mk
I have a rootfs built, I can usb into it... but... something is wrong. Gonna go on irc. I am using the 3.0 kernel this time, instead of 3.4.... so... who knows.

I have graphics up! that is the hardest part... Should have something in a couple of days to share.
I forgot I had to do this last time..
system.mount needs to be changed from /dev/store/cm-data to /dev/dm-10 for /system to mount, not to mention changing the init in ramdisk for lvm
Edit: Bugging IRC on how to get thing to do TRUE landscape mode.

Sounds like you are making good progress :good:.
I thougt Sailfish 2.0 does true landscape mode by default, because of the Jolla tablet?
Excited! I haven't used sailfish in awhile! I'll definitely do some application modding once the build is up!

I now have wifi working... and it boots everytime. Right now the goal is, get the new sensor service up and running, and see how rotation, landscape, etc is working.
Might use PowerMenu2 or some patch in openrepos... There is also some line you can change from > Medium.Screen to Small.Screen, stuff like that.
If this does not fly, I might just use a portrait rom, and see how that flies, with rotation. Closer.

I should have something to upload soon. I saw your powermenu something.. somewhere... Sensor should be easy, sound should be easy... once those are working, I will upload and then we can play. Regardless if rotation or landscape is working... I figure they won't rotate until the sensor service works... I tried powermenu2 and some patch, but it doesn't seem to work....
Try to install it again, then use this http://github.com/blmvxer/powermenu2
You have to use the terminal on sailfish to apply it.

Ok, the browser now starts, but it is not really usable. Every user input causes strange behaviour.
Bigger problem is I can't install any RPM. I get an error that libsailfishapp.so.1 is missing.
