[Q] Compatible usb keyboard - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone point to an USB keyboard that works with an otg adapter? I've tried three different keyboards and each time the phone says USB something connected and two seconds later USB something disconnected.

[Q] USB keyboard recognized, but no input

I've tried this with three USB keyboard so far: I plug them in to my Note via the OTG cable, the notification bar identifies them as keyboards, but I can't get any application to accept text input from them.
My latest one is a folding Geyes keyboard which is too cool to sell, so I'd really like to get it working. Any ideas on what's going wrong?
Even am facing same problem here, able to connect mouse and USB Drives. but not able to use Keyboards.
Is the same when you unplug and plug again otg cable?

Yep, same.
(And I know my new keyboard works because I'm using it to type this answer on my PC...)
The same problem here, but it works with wireless USB keyboards.
Not Bluetooth, that ones with proprietary dongles. I thought it's some sort of a power problem and the wireless dongles need less power.
So i stripped a USB extension cable, cut the power lines and inserted another usb cable. Like an Y-Adapter used for 2.5" hard drives. This additional plug was put in the Charger and it powered the keyboard. Still no luck.
The cable itself works. Tested it with a mouse, a card-reader and even a 2.5" hard disk and the Note was happy with it.

Edit: Tried to change the keyboard layout. I need qwertz, not qwerty. Not possible at all. Seems that Android 2.3.6 has no option for that. Hope ICS will do better. Even other keyboard will work, it's absolutely useless for me.
So, no one figuret out why USB keyboards don't work?
My USB Keyboard can't work too
My keyboard is samsung AA-SK0TKBD
solution is easy
You have to restart mobile. Yes, really not practical but that works.
One more thing, the captcha verification during each post is really annoying. Last my answer here.

I read somwehere that we need to go to USB settings & enable USB Host option. Then USB KB starts working. I am also having a USB KB but am unable to find this USB host option. SO if someone gets this option, pl tell me steps to go there on my Galaxy Note

Help with Smart Dock

i was using the Smart Dock, for about 6 months, and it was running perfect, i saw movies, and play games (emus, and android games) using a ps3 controller wired, on the Dock´s USB, and every time work perfectly.
But suddenly, it stop working, now its dificult to connect, i connect it, and in the phone screen appears the "HDMI cable connected", but after a few seconds appears "HDMI cable disconnected", and then, the message appears one after one,
and when it work, the screen mirroring runs well, but when i connect a mouse (wired) dont work, neither the ps3 controller or a pendrive, the USB Host of the Dock is not working,
I try using a USB OTG, and connect both mouse and ps3 controller, and both work well, but not in the Dock
anny suggestions?
Sorry for the long post
You probably are, but just in case, I'll ask anyway..... Are you using a powerful enough charger (1.8-2.0 maH output) .... e.g-the one that came with the note 2? And are the cables snugly snapped into place and not loosely connected?

I have this problem too!! none of the USB ports are functioning, however USB accessories all work with my Note 2 via OTG cable (I tried connecting the OTG cable to the Smart Dock too and this didn't work either)

I have exactly the same problem with all 3 USB ports. HDMI works fine. Is there any special setting or my dock is faulty?
I think they must be faulty, either the unit itself or possibly the charger, or the charger for some reason is not strong enough to power the USB ports (although that seems strange as everything is official Samsung product, and I've tried using my phone power adapter too which ostensibly is the same)
Yes the charger in the dock is 100% the same with the one in the phone packaging. I tried to power the dock through my laptop without any success. Unfortunately, there is not powered problem.

USB otg

This phone has been great so far but there are some little things that annoys me sometimes one of it is that I can't seem to connect my controller to the phone. It says "Phone is in USB host mode". My otg cable Is able to connect to a thumbdrive and even a mouse can function. Any solutions?

[Q] USB port not working...

Anyone have a non-functioning USB port? PC doesn't recognize my Z3 compact and it wont charge as well when connected to the PC. The USB port was working when I first got the phone, then suddenly stopped being functional. I cannot even charge through it as well.
Have you tried another cable?
Are you trying to charge from wall adapter to the usb port?
If yes, send to repair.
I have already tried connecting using different cables and PCs/ laptops. Even did a full reset several times. then, suddenly, the uSB connection began working: USB connection to computer and USB charging worked. Mysterious?? Maybe loose connection inside the phone??
I've noticed it won't charge with certain cables, chargers and vehicles. Seems to be hit and miss.

OTG is being properly detected, but keyboard not working or lighting up

Has anyone hooked a keyboard up to Shamu using an OTG cable? I have a Startech Microusb to Miniusb OTG cable and others in the reviews have confirmed got it working with keyboards, mice etc. I also tried a few OTG test/troubleshoot apps and the OTG cable is being detected, but the keyboard is not being detected or powered on. The keyboard is a Ducky Mini and has a Miniusb output, so it's plugged directly into the phone.
Using Lineage + Francokernel + Magisk, all on the latest updates. Thanks.
edit: this is the cable; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018M8YNDG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
edit2: upon further review, some people are saying that one specific miniUSB version of the cable is charge only (when all others are data/charge, oh joy). I'm confused though, if that were true how would USB thumb drives (or anything OTG) work if it's not giving off power?
