I know that i can click and hold the home button to show recently used/running apps but I would prefer to just drag down the statusbar and see 8 icons of recently used apps.
I have tried different apps from market but most of them show a button that mimics holding down the home button instead of showing icons directly in the notifications area.
Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Install custom rom √ DarkyRom
Use jkay settings! X This one I think refers to the Deluxe Settings which I have but can't seem to find the option I'm looking for. Could you please point me to it? Thanks!

Tried both but like I said in the original post. I'd like it to show icons of recently used apps horizontally. The second one is a full status barcreplacement and I don't want that. Appreciate your help
Use an HTC device? I'm not sure, but check out UOT Kitchen and see if they have that option. Basically you build your own status bar from scratch. I haven't heard any methods of using recently used apps in the Notification bar except for HTC.

UOT Kitchen doesn't seem to have this option.
About HTC, can't we have that implementation as an app? I would love something similar. thank you for the contribution!
Quest continues

I miss this too. I just don't understand why this isn't an app all ready?
Hello everyone,
I just switched from GB to ICS 4.0.4 directly, I was very happy in GB because I had JKay's and 15 toggles and notification was very customizable thanks to JKay's. I watched so many videos of ICS and now on stock Samsung ICS it has even less functionality than stock ICS on Nexus, I have a huge settings button I dont need in my notification area, had to install a mod to scroll the toggles and there is no volume shortcut to change all the volumes from the home screen!
I have looked at themes section but all I see is just a 15 toggle mod, but in custom ROMs screenshots I see lots of different notification area shortcuts, no stupid settings button anymore, it appears to be the same mod in all custom ROMs but they dont say which mod it is in OP nor can I find it on themes section, am I missing something like a setting or config? I dont want to install Custom ROMs with S3 stuff, I just want clean look and theme with the functions I really miss from GB.
thanks in advance

How to Install:
1. Download the ROM above.
2. While awaiting download, make a backup of your current rom and data.
3. When download finished, check md5 checksum.
4. Install a SAFE kernel or if you are already using a custom JB ROM, it's more likely that you are already in a SAFE kernel.
5. Reboot into recovery and make a factory reset, full wipe and format system, preload and data partitions.
6. Flash the ROM and reboot when finished.
7. Setup as needed and enjoy the rom. Don't forget to grant supersu permissions to integrated apps as it is important for the ROM to work fully.
8. I suggest not to restore your data and apps for the meantime. Play with the rom for a while and feel its vibes to make sure everything is working. Then you can restore whatever you need/want.
9. There are various settings integrated in Settings. Be sure to check them out and try them.
10. Long-pressing back button by default kills app instead of showing the multiwindow bar so be sure to check the setting that you like in Display settings.
11. Use Xposed Multiwindow Apps Manager to enable/disable multiwindow apps and also set the default window WIDTH and HEIGHT that you like. Please note not all apps are multiwindow-friendly so I suggest don't enable them like Camera, Calculator, FMRadio, Voice Recorder & Clock.
12. Use XTweakbox to set various settings like dual pane Settings, statusbar color and transparency, clock color, scrolling wallpaper, etc. More will be added in the next XTweakbox versions and also you may want to check out my XBackground app to change backgrounds for various system resources.
13. Use XquickSettingsToggles to theme your toggles in the notification panel.
ADDONS:
Black SecSettings.apk - copy to preload partition
* Enable minimize button - goto /system/etc/permissions folder and rename com.sec.feature.minimize.button.xml~ to com.sec.feature.minimize.button.xml
* Fitted Accuweather widget - courtesy of kmokhtar79 HERE

Wow,
Once again another great Rom from Xpericle.
Thanks for your hard work mate.
Is there any apps had been removed from Stock LT9..??:silly:
If somebody like to get fit weather widget, here you want.
Google search widget now is fit on the screen.
AccuweatherWidget.apk should go to system folder
AccuweatherWidget_Main.apk should go to preload folder
GoogleSearchWidget.apk should go to system folder
First upload 100% done but different md5 uploading again
one simple doubt how to select icons in toggle bar, ie only to retain what I want and rearranging them. thanks.
can I install kalagas n7000 theme.
I do not want quick settings in the notification panel !
I replaced the SystemUI.apk from another ROM....it worked for me and removed the quick settings...but then my phone's touch buttons stopped lighting up !
So is there a way I can remove the quick settings from the notification panel and also keep my phone's buttons lighting up ?
I am attaching the systemui.apk here....please edit it and add the light stuff on it...so that my buttons glow again...:fingers-crossed:
Thanks in Advance ! :rolleyes

Greetings,
Does anyone know of any way to get a drawable statusbar when running an application in fullscreen? I really do miss this feature from any Samsung roms.
I have found Smart Statusbar, but I'd rather not have a service eating up my ram for something so trivial, therefore does anyone know of any build.prop tweak/custom rom/xposed module/anything else that would add this feature?
Thanks.

gravity box I guess or any other systemui changing module (xposed)
Use Xblast tool or Gravity Box To mod the systemUI
I probably am a total moron, but I don't seem to be able to find anything in gravitybox that is related to this. Have any of you actually done this using it? If so, where do I find this setting?
I think theres a small app you can install off playstore which pulls down the notification bar, if your on 4.3, its not really needed as the recent apps window now has the status bar visible.
