This is basically a thread where we can post our problems with the data2sd or anything else related to this.
This also helps the devs that make these sort things out.
PLEASE DONT POST ABOUT APP PROBLEMS, JUST MEMORY ISSUES OR FC WITH DATA2SD
If you experience and fc issues and you dont know why, logcat it. On startup, use logcat via adb, while phone is on, use a logcat app available from the market.
Get the file and post up the attachment for us to look into asap.
My problem is instability. The ext2 partition seems to be lagging somewhat, I've had some app fc issues with it being stored on the new memory.
I've had 2 restrarts in 20hrs, and that's from a fresh install and minimal apps installed.
I'm constantly testing things out daily and keeping on top of these errors as much as I can.

i recently noticed when i try to download any app from the android market or update an app it will act like its starting the download but then never actually start it. im running the latest cyanogen rom. i have tried wiping and reflashing the latest cyanogen rom and reflashing the google apps addon. i have tried restoring to a previous backup when the apps were working in the market. i have tried flashing a non cyanogen rom even. nothing i can think of (my thoughts are limited since im fairly new at all this) and still no success. i had the same problem on my g1 with cyanogen and i somehow managed to get that working again by trying similar things but no luck yet with my nexus one and its really upsetting me. any ideas on how i can go about fixing this? thanks for all your help

May sound stupid (and yes, it is) but try launching google talk. Often bby logging in to talk, market downnloads kick off. Seems to be google account related.

try going into settings, applications, market, and uninstall updates, then open the market again
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
OK I tried the uninstall updates idea and no luck there. Opening Google talk also didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas guys? Thanks
I wonder if you ever found a solution to this?
Well for me, I have to open GTalk and close it and reopen and close and reopen...it eventually works when it fully loads... Oddly, it seems to only happen on wifi. I'm pretty sure it's a GTalk issue.
Hopefully the new market system will make a difference...I really hope
How's the amount of space on your phone? Do you see the little hard drive icon? I know that the Market always starts to download stuff but never actually downloads anything when my phone space its low.
Hope this helps!

I can't receive messages(sms) when ANGRYBIRDS or some other apps is running. I only can solve this problem by close other apps.
what's the problem? run out of memory? sms>FC????
my ROM:UK 2.2
I used use 2.1. Never had this problem.

Try using alternate apps as handcent and see if the problem exists..

I have tried GO SMS,handcent, chompsms.Even tried to use both apps together. But didn't help.
It seems that only a few people have the same problem.
Now,I'm going to clean my phone.......

I thank that's the only option left

I have the same problem. How you resolved that?
Use CM7, it have an option to keep the SMS application in the memory no matter what, never missed a SMS (not that I receive much SMS's anyway ) using it.
The problem with CM7 and other Gingerbread ROMs is that due to the Droid/Milestone's limited RAM, memory management is fairly aggressive to the point where important apps are being killed due to low memory situations. This is why you're seeing so many threads about Gingerbread ROM users being unable to receive text messages.
The best thing to do is to run the SuperCharger v6 script as outlined in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12058585
You may also want to look into this thread over at DF for suggested minfree values:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/cy...im-getting-great-gingerbread-performance.html
In system\build.prop edit this line
sys.keep_app_1=com.jb.gosms
You won't lose messages anymore
No need to set messaging app persistent in cm settings

The same situation is in froyo. I have stock 2.2 and I can't receive messages when i'm playing angry birds or browsing web and using flash.
Using AMM could help to an extent. However, if/when you root (you said you were stock Froyo but I'm not sure if you rooted), the SuperCharger script is a far better solution.
Give each a try.
Yes I'm rooted and i'm SuperCharger script user. Any minfree values and also AMM don't help me. Sometimes is better, sometimes not but at all there is still a problem with receiving messages when my phone has low free ram space.
Hi guys. In getting a insufficient space error when trying to download from the market. However I clearly have more than enough free space from what the setting tell me.

Try moving some apps to your SD card.

I had the same thing happen when I flashed Apex 8.x for my Captivate a little while back. It wasn't my first GB flash, but it was the only one that gave me that issue. It happened after I restored user apps from TiBU - I got the "out of space" error from the market when I clearly had plenty. The only fix I found was to re-flash the ROM and then manually re-install apps from the market. I was able to restore the app data from TiBU with no problems.

Reboot and retry.. if that does'nt work wait a few more minutes and try again.
I had the same thing happen to me and a reboot fixed it. Still had 1.4 Gb when the error showed up.
All that reboot won't do a thing, atleast to me it won't, running vs 3.0.27. The error only shows up on some apps ,usually big sized apps like pocket legends. It's a cache related bug that google screwed up on This would be a Fix 'till we get a new update from google. Downside to this fix is that after a reboot u'll have to do it again

Yeah I have reboot many times and have had no results unfortunately. Is the bug a android system bug or is it a bug in the market app? I don't recall ever having this problem before the new market.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
I have run into this a couple of times now. I only encountered it with apps I restored via TiBU.
My fix was to just uninstall the app and re-download from the market instead of upgrading the app.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
The error is in market not android system. I didn't even realized the bug was there 'till I have been told so (all my apps are TiBu-ed), pocket legends I haven't had installed previously and it shows the error all the time. But the fix works, use terminal emulator or adb to run the script.

Ran into this while trying to install Third Blade (49 MB game). Got it to install by removing market updates and installing using old market, but I know the market will update again...
So the fix is to mount a bigger cache directory? Or uninstall market updates like I did. But neither is permanent....lame.
Is the problem with apps that are bigger than 30MB which I see is the current cache size? How could Google be so stupid to screw this up?
Yeah, I stand by google even if they screw up sometimes I mean it's not a big deal since I can grab those apps on the pc and then transfer and install it on my cappy.
Another alternative would be to revert back to old market and to avoid it to update once again freeze market updater in TiBu. Here u'll find the old market in many colors http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331

I like google too but man how could slip by any sort of qualification process. Why would the programmer do that in the first place, is the cache partition typically bigger then 30MB on other phones?
I was able to get the stock market that came with the ROM by going to 'uninstall updates' in management page for market in the settings.
The new Market is back again though so I'll probably have to do a fix again next time I want to install/update a big app. I'll probably do the mount thing this time, I don't reboot my phone for weeks at a time so that's not a big deal. Users without root will have to go back to an older market over and over until they fix it though.
Sorry, but you'll have to blame Samsung for this one. Most phones do indeed have much larger cache sizes. Even the T-Mobile G1 (only 256MB) has 64MB cache.
I have put together a fix for this, but I'm a bit leery to publicly release it. Basically, I ended up doing what Samsung probably should have done in the first place. I repartitioned the device to have a 64MB cache by stealing space from the dbdata partition. This involves a complete phone wipe. It's working all right for me so far, but I do not know what the side effects or long term effects might be. I suspect that one is that any package that includes a dbdata image expecting the larger size will fail to flash...
Hi,
I seem to have an odd bug of my phone's free ram disappearing over several days (checked via system>apps>running processes). This is fixed when I reboot. On start up, I would have about 100mb free space, with some processes like launcher, whatsapp, swype (as the main memory eaters). After some time, this 100mb disappears down to 0, and I don't see any other new applications under the running tab or task killer apps. Even if I kill everything I won't have as much free ram as right after a reboot. This causes apps to often kill themselves (I assume from lack of ram), and is generally annoying.
Any ideas what might be the cause of this?
I'm using Slim ICS 3.8 and devil3 0.79. Thanks for any help!
Hey
Not sure why this is happening..but u can try a factory reset..or an update as slimics 4.2 is out...
Cheers
If my post helped, don't mind hitting the Thanks button..
Reflash the kernel. Should solve it. What kernel are you using specifically? Sorry, I can't see it on the xda app
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Was on devil3 0.79, updated to 1.03.
I would like to avoid reflashing the rom since I find it's a hassle to reinstall all the apps
Will see if kernel flashing helps though, thanks!
NOTE: I'm including here all issues I found, some seems not to be CM specific, but related to all KitKat ROMs and others to Note's Exynos hardware. Above all, big thanks to the ROM's developer(s) for his awesome work!
Hi all,
I can't write in the official development thread, so I'll post here (BTW eventually I'll get rights to write there). I've been using CM nightlies since one year ago. Started with 10.2 and now I'm using 11.
I've been suffering for a long time an issue that I've finally fixed, from time to time my device was very hot and battery drained very fast, only a reboot helped, looking into Settings > Battery I always find GPSD to be guilt guy, that problem was caused by Google's Android Device Manager, once I disabled the extended permissions in Security > Device Managers, the issue disappeared. I'm putting this here for the record, so maybe other people could find it useful.
Other issues: I tried to use a external microSD card filled with music, but from time to time the card freezes (player won't work, and file explorer apps also can't list directories), after rebooting is ok again.
Another thing, yesterday I updated from some February's nightly to CM-11-20140326-NIGHTLY, and now google's calendar app will FC when agenda view is requested. Also my agenda widgets won't show anything.
EDIT 3/28: Some people in development thread are reporting that their devices freeze for some seconds, this seems to be related to the lack of trim optimizations, I've also solved this by always having more than 50% of free space in both partitions (internal & external), unfortunately, this means for me that I can't use ART and I must hold to Dalvik, not a big deal anyway. BTW, does anybody else lost icons in Google Now Launcher after every reboot? God I miss Trebuchet....
EDIT 3/31: The FC issue in calendar is gone after updating to CM-11-20140330-NIGHTLY, and for the lost icons issue I've finally switched to Nova Launcher Premium, great app BTW.
Greetings
Hi, are the icons of apps that disappear ones you have on SD ?..

Music player bug is a known bug (not a feature) on all KitKat Roms for our device and the S2. Bug on Exynos 4 devices.
There is a thread in omni sub-forum dealing with this issue...
Forum link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49470330
You can fill up your internal and external SD. Shouldn't have an impact on ART or dalvik, but if your /data partition is getting filled up with your user apps (2GB), then you'll get in trouble with ART...
You'll get "write rights" in development section when you have successfully posted 10 times on XDA...not a real hurdle...
hi,
juste like you i've been using CM10.2, and then updated to a clean CM11.
Things works great and stability is quite impressive for a nighty room.
The only thing that really has big problem is the camera... It's making yellow pics !!!! Solve by using focal ....

Hi, yes, thankyou somebody else point me in the same direction, the icons disappearing are related to apps allocated in "external" memory...

Hi thank you for your answer the problem is, generated cache using ART is a lot bigger, and I empirically tested that whenever I get more than 50% of the internal (or external) memory full phone starts to freeze from time to time, seems to be related with the lack of TRIM optimizations
