CyanogenMod 7.2.0 "GalaxyMini" Port
Latest release: mebitek [11 November 2012]
Latest Google Apps package: official: 20110828
Pre-requisites:
Your phone must have a Gingerbread bootloader installed (as it uses the 2.6.35 kernel & Gingerbread proprietary files).
Any version of ClockworkMod that supports EXT4 partitions. Unfortunately, the build supplied with ROM Manager doesn't seem to be compatible.
Recommended: ensure that you have a backup of your current ROM and user data.
Installation:
Reboot into ClockworkMod. You can do this via adb reboot recovery, or by choosing the Reboot -> Recovery menu if you are already using CyanogenMod.
If you are upgrading from a stock or custom ROM, you absolutely must perform a data wipe: Select wipe data/factory reset and confirm the operation. Note that you will lose all of your user data, so be sure that you have performed a backup. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
Choose the option install update from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard. You will see the two (or three) .zip files in the list.
install:
The base package named update-cm-7.X-GalaxyMini-KANG-signed.zip
The Google Apps package, named gapps-gb-DATE-signed.zip
Once all packages are installed, you can now reboot

it is safe to wipe data.
You can backup your apps with Titanium Backup, sms with sms backup and export your contacts in the contacts menu.
I suggest to do a nandroid backup before wipe and flash the rom so you can easily restore all your device in just one click from recovery menu
Nice work
Just one thing, please upload to mediafire instead. Github is not an upload site. Its meant for source code only.

well saying squad mod is not exactly correct.
he's just using mods that have not yet been merged into the tree..most of it is still up for review. it'll will be part of vanilla cm7 once it's merged.
so this nighlty by squad is his usual rom with source update(nightly changelog) i believe(just like what u've done)..i have not tried it so i'm not very sure.
----edit----
sorry i cant really have a say on this as i have not tried the 'nightlies'.
ok wait....nightly builds by squad are pure but with using his device config.
and the experimental builds implement unmerged mods frm the cm gerrit.

This is [b]NOT[/b] a new build, this is build 03 from May 17th, in which reloaded ICS settings works like a champ.
Updated Apex Launcher to most recent version 1.2.0
Removed UMS.apk(mass storage crap)
Speaker phone fixed(thanks to xplodwild for this!)
Removed APKs from build 3 work fine. Since they are the same.
Tablet mode from build 3 as well.
Kernel is built as of 5/23 - 2:28pm.
Build 04
Removed Reloaded ICS, its based off an old SystemUI, new changes are causing a FC, I've PM'd the creator about this. Sorry for now.
AsylumICSWallpapers.apk can be downloaded for kick ass wallpapers - APK is located in media fire folder, download and install as normal.
Repo Sync as of 11:15am this morning. Most recent changes are included.
Apex 1.2.0 - Most recent. Its ALOT smoother than previous builds. Wallpaper scales correctly.
Removed mass storage.apk - was a pain in the ass.
Few other changes, but I'm sleepy and I need a nap lol, Chasmodo knows why :P
Build 03
More murdered out stuff
Apex Launcher is now default launcher
New default wallpaper - thanks to sswagonman
Mass storage working - VIA app, until I can get more time to actually look at this(app is a workaround)
A few speed tweaks here and there, should improve overall smoothness - could be a placebo effect as well lol
More but I dont remember all of them, I'm still not awake yet.

CM 9 safe kernel to flash. There are no modules in this kernel, just the kernel. Flash while phone in download mode from Odin or Heimdall.
Find it here
Not sure if its OK to flash from your current kernel? - Your answer awaits you here - credit chasmodo
FAQ's - by sunny2303
1. Has this ROM been ported from any other device ROM (like Nexus 7)?
No, we at Asylum believe in original work and the developer has built this completely from scratch using CM10 sources, for details refer credits in OP of ROM thread
2. Which kernels are safe to directly wipe and flash Asylum JB from? (BTW, flashing instructions in the OP need updating too - chas)
a) any CM9 or CM10 based kernels (don’t know how to put the goddamn bullet, someone edit my edits, please - chas)
b) any NoteCore, SpeedMod v4 and above, Franco v4 and above
c) any GB kernel
3. Which kernels must be replaced before wiping and flashing Asylum JB?
a) any CF--Root ICS kernel (GB are OK) ------>This one should be moved to #2, but only if Anti and Ripper are ABSOLUTELY certain that Asylum/Aroma updater script does not issue any dangerous format commands (contact me for detailed explanation - chas)
b) you must flash a safe kernel (see #2) if you have rooted any stock ICS Rom using CWM.zip with superuser and busybox
c) SpeedMod v3 and below, Franco v3 and below
d) old leaked kernels such as LP1, LP5 and LP6
4. What does Aroma Installer do?
Aroma installer helps you customize ROM to suit your requirements, with installation of your choice, from the choices in built in ROM installation.
5. Do I wipe before or after running Aroma Installer?
Always wipe before running Aroma. You will lose all user apps Aroma has installed if you do a
factory reset after the flash is done.
6. Do I need to flash Gapps separately?
Yes
7. Is removed apks.zip a CWM flashable zip file?
No, to avoid bloating of your phone with apps which you may not need, you can copy specific apk file from removed apks.zip and paste it in /system/app, change permissions to rw-r—r--
8. How can I change DPI settings?
Aroma installer provides you an option during installation to choose your preferred dpi between 320, 240, 213 and 160.
If you have installed with one of these setting and wish to change to other, you can use tool like “ROM toolbox lite or pro” (available on play store)
Non standard dpi settings (other than ones mentioned above) may result in improper functioning of some apps & play store
9. How can I change governor & scheduler?
You will have to use a tool like “Set CPU” (available on play store) to unleash options of governor & scheduler that Asylum kernel offers (alternative: you can change governor from Settings/Performance/Processor/CPU Governor, and I/O scheduler using Rom Toolbox/Kernel Tweaks - Rom Toolbox was already recommended for DPI management -chas)
For more information about governor & scheduler, you may refer here. Please thank the OP if you found it helpful
10. Which are compatible kernels with Asylum JB?
Asylum kernel which comes in built with the ROM is the recommended kernel
In case you wish to try other kernels, you may try any CM10 based kernel available on Chasmodo’s kernel repository. Please do not forget to press “Thanks” button if you pick any kernels there ☺
11. What is Full wipe & what is Cache wipe using CWM?
Full wipe :
Step 1. Wipe Data/ Factory reset
Step 2. Wipe Cache partition
Step 3. Advanced – Wipe Dalvik Cache
Full wipe will erase data like applications and application settings etc though user data like media files and external sd card content will be untouched. However, keeping a backup on PC is recommended.
Cache wipe:
Only step 2 & 3 of above
All data including applications and application settings as well as user data will be left untouched, only cache will be cleared.
12. I am on another JB ROM is it safe to flash Asylum JB from there?
Absolutely yes, however we strongly recommend Full wipe option mentioned above if you come from any other ROM other than previous Asylum JB versions (from JB Beta 1 onwards)
13. Can I do a Full wipe and still get my apps after flashing Asylum JB?
Well… Yes. While you are on your previous ROM make a flashable zip of your apps using “App2zip” application (available on play store). Place it securely on your internal sd card ( keeping a back up on PC is recommended). Once you have flashed Asylum JB, simply go in recovery mode and flash the update.zip you would have created earlier OR
You can use Titanium Backup for backup and restore, but we recommend only application restore and not data. For heavy data applications like games, you may want to use restore app+data option but smooth functioning cannot be assured (most users however have found this working well).
14. My external SD card is missing?
Use ES file explorer which comes with Asylum JB
Go in settings
Check the option “Up to root”, press back
In explorer mode click “Up”
You will find ExtSdCard, that’s where contents of your external sd card are
15. Can I use different themes on Asylum JB?
Of course you can… download any compatible theme of your choice from Play Store
Go in System settings - Themes – Theme chooser, choose downloaded them – Select apply
If you are getting a “Theme error”, apply default system theme and then apply downloaded theme, ignore any error message if it shows. This should work 9/10 times, else contact the theme developer and ask him to customize the theme for this wonderful ROM ☺
16. Do applications like S-Note, S-Memo work on this ROM?
NO. Since this ROM has its roots from CM10 and abovementioned apps are Samsung proprietary apps these apps are not and will never work on Asylum JB probably.
Thanks to varied developers, we have able substitution available for most of these apps, if you care to browse play store ☺
17. I cannot connect the Note to my PC as mass storage (USB). What to do?
Nothing. Mass storage connection has been dumped from JB altogether. Use MTP connection
instead.
18. I cannot set my notification toggles. What do I do?
Change your DPI to 320, set the toggles, then change back to ani DPI you prefer and the
toggles will be there.
19. I have a question which has not been answered above?
First of all, thanks for reading entire FAQ list ☺
Come and join us on Asylum JB discussion thread and we will be happy to help you to the best of our knowledge based on inputs (screenshot, logcat etc) provided by you
Sexy.

EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS "AOSP" 4.0.4_r2.1
**The Beta-Build (EB Build#4) is STABLE for most users. However, due to many varying basebands for this device spread throughout many countries, there are some users who experience trouble with data/service.** Build #5.5 is the most recent however some users still have issues. As we undergo further 'public testing' please be sure to backup first and use NVFlash to replace your ClockworkMod Recovery (if needed)**
-Thanks for your patience.
---------------------
As always a big thanks to the "CyanogenMod Team" for their amazing work they do for Android™. Without these guys hard at work and pioneering great features none of this would be possible for where we're at today.
Also big thanks to "rmcc" for the device tree and LGE Ril.

====Build 3====
This release of the rom contains a ramdisk that will scan ext(4,3,2)
filesystems prior to mounting. Repairs are done automatically as
needed so if your filesystems are clean, you shouldn't notice anything
different. If they are corrupt it may take a little longer to boot.
Precautions:
We are asking (insisting) that everyone flashing this version of the
rom do a clean install.
Factory Reset must be run through recovery. The installer is not
capable of unmounting the cache partition that recovery mounts.
The Option inside the installer for clearing Data will reformat
the data partition only. In the future it will clear all the data
that the Factory reset option in recovery does, but for now it is
limited.
We are insisting that Factory Reset be used because it's an almost
guarantee that /data, /cache and perhaps /system are corrupt.
Journals only repair certain types of fs corruption and android
doesn't use fsck to repair filesystems. So overtime, especially
with the use of overclocking and undervolting and unsupported versions
of android, these writeable filesystems get corrupt.
Repairing such corrupted filesystems will yield completely unknown
results as far as files that get cleared or duplicated.
In the future however, you should be able to rely on dirty installs
much more, as those filesystems will not get more and more corrupt
overtime. You should also notice that long term use will not
result in increasing instability.
You can verify that filesystems are being repaired prior to mounting
by checking dmesg via adb or in Terminal. You should not see any
messages about the journal recovering the filesystems when they
are mounted. But more importantly you'll notice things are way
more stable (at least in the force close and random crash department)
Short version:
Boot into recovery.
Factory reset
Install zip
Leave installation options on default settings.
proceed with installation.

EAGLESBLOOD™ ROM INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
===========================================
**IMPORTANT** MUST READ CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW COMPLETELY.
1. Make a full backup of your current ROM. Then copy it over to PC if you wish.
2. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM). *Note* You should always flash CWM using a USB Cable and NVflash; do not 'flash CWM from the ROM Manager app'.
3. To begin start by clicking "Wipe User Data/Factory Reset", this will wipe all data off of the phone's memory (not SD card though).
4. Now click "Wipe cache partition".
5. Then go down to "Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache".
6. Choose Install zip from "External SD Card". Wait for that to complete and confirm you see an "Installation Complete" message.
7. Now, you must flash the correct Google Apps - GApps ICS (gapps-2012xxxx-ics.zip) ...link below.
Once the gapps are installed you can now click "Reboot System". Failing to complete all of these instructions precisely can potentially leave you stuck in CWM Recovery until you manage to build your way back out. This is not fun, trust us.
9. Done. Enjoy your new ROM!

Anyway, I'm downloading this ROM. Hope it would be great.
First impression: damn fast with stock kernel. Well I have to test it further after I restore all my application
Great to see EaglesBlood finally come to our O2x, thanks fellas!
Btw, i cant understand how when our beloved spica got banned for a milder thing, this troller "dinmorerbedst" who has trolled and abused in all posts is still roaming free
will try this one
thanks
Running for a few hours now, not to shabby so far.
Only bug I've found is the browers crashes when you rotate, also the phone does get a bit warm when in use.
On a bright side of this thread:
i have tested the rom for a few hours. it runs smoothly as CM9 builds we have already here.
but, i have a little remark to make. when i turn on the wifi and i go into settings/wifi/show networks all networks show same signal strengths untill u choose the one to connect. After u initiate the connecting process, it detects the right signal strength for a moment, connects, then goes back to 3 bars of signal like the rest of the networks around me.
not a big deal for me, but could be frustrating for someone who is trying to find a network to connect to real quick. could be missleading him into thinking how the network has slow signal, then it would refuse to connect due to really weak signal strength. happened to me.
also. can u make a flashable zip to reverse mounting points for sdcard? like internal storage to be mounted as /sdcard/ ?
other than that, no issues for me.
keep up the good work, will be watching this thread closely.
Why when i charge my phone with wall charger it says usb and charging is soooo slow

That is actually good, it doesn't BSOD when charging mode is USB, at least not for me.
The downside is that it is slow to charge, but i charge overnight so no biggie.

Still going good, a few more little problems, the auto brightness for the screen does not work, also on lock screen if you slide up and hover over messages you lose the top half of the circle.
The USB Connection is not working properly for me, after connecting to the pc and going in to internal storage and SD card, both aren't showing the sub-folders. Anyone else having this issue?

[ROM][CM9] ParanoidAndroid [Userthread]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What is it?
PAD (Per App Density) - choose a custom density for each of your apps!
PAL (Per App Layout) - chose PhoneUI or TabletUI for each of your apps!
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.
Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course.
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on.
This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size.
You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

Known bugs: (build 12)
To refresh the HwaSettings database you need to clear it's data.
Some apps don't like non-stock DPI values and will FC. Solution: Settings - Paranoid Settings - List of apps and apply "PhoneUI" + "Stock DPI (Phone)"
This fixes 99% of all app FC's!
Same bugs as all CM9 ROMs for the 2x due to the missing LG blobs (no full Chrome / Opera support, no video recording etc.)

Instructions:
Flash ROM + Hybrid Gapps
Advanced - Fix permissions
Reboot
Do another reboot!
You don't need to do a full wipe. Just flash and wipe cache + dalvik.
If you want to keep your customized densities then make a backup of your pad.prop file with the "ParanoidAndroid Backup" app!
If you're coming from another ROM a full wipe highly recommended. It might work without if you come from another CM9 based ROM but: don't even dare to post any bug reports when you didn't do a full wipe!
Don't restore system apps (like Settings) or system data (like Wifi data) with TitaniumBackup!
You'll find a new Settings entry "Paranoid Settings" where you can setup all the magic
By default I set it up to use the standard Phone UI and disabled the navigation bar which I don't need.
But you can enable it at Settings - System - Navigation bar!
If you want to use adb, here are my modded adb drivers for ICS.
If you have a problem please have a look at the Known bugs and Q&A before you post in this thread.
If you want me to look into an issue attach a logcat, I will most likely ignore bugreports without a logcat.

PA testbuilds
There are no new testbuilds anymore.
The Cyanogenmod team has stopped working on new features for CM9 - if you want to have state of the art builds then use my CM10 ParanoidAndroid ROM.
On the newest build I made the following cherrypicks:
I included the Center Clock option - you can choose it at System - Combined Bar - Clock Style
fix wifi sleep policy
bootmenu custom reboot logic
system volume
disable scrolling cache
Remove 10MB of useless video from builds
If you want to see more cherrypicks included then feel free to recommend them to me!
Q & A
Q&A
This Q&A has been written mainly by noahk423 from the G2x section.
If you appreciate his work please head over to the original post and leave him a Thanks there!
Q: Some apps Force Close for me
A: Some apps don't like non-stock DPI values and will FC.
If an app Force Closes go to Settings - Paranoid Settings - List of apps and apply "Stock DPI (Phone)" (or custom 240 which is the same thing).
For apps with widgets also check the "Force Scaling (widgets)" option. After a reboot your problems are gone.
This fixes 99% of all app FC's!
The next 0.5% are caused by restores from TitaniumBackup. Please try to avoid any unnecessary restores!
Q: My status bar disappeared?
A: Hold power button until Power Menu comes up, click Expanded Desktop.
Q: Video recording isn't working
A: Yes, that's LG's fault, we need the official ICS release for that. You can use "Videocam illusion" from the playstore. No HD but at least recording is working with it.
Q: Paranoid Android settings force closing?
A: Clear data for "Settings" and see if that works. If it doesn't, did you do a full wipe before installation? If you didn't, then that is most likely the problem.
Q: My Youtube videos won't play?
A: Turn phone to landscape mode, and turn off the HD option.
Q: I saw something about a hotfix in the thread, do I still need to flash that?
A: No, you only need to flash hotfixes if they're mentioned in the first post. If not the hotfixes are already baked in into the newest version.
Q: I don't have the on-screen navigation buttons? I want those bacause it looks nice in Tablet UI!
A: Go to Settings> System> Navigation bar> Softkeys, also works without Tablet UI.
Q: No USB mounting support for my SD card?
A: The stock kernel doesn't support UMS. Flash a custom one (like Harsh's) and go to Settings> Storage> Menu> USB computer connection.
Q: The Stock browser crashs from time to time.
A: Yes, the Stock browser crashes when turning from landscape to portrait. There is now a fix by tonyp here: http://bit.ly/R6afjw
Q: What are the major bugs in this ROM?
A: Nothing ROM related! There are only the typical ICS bugs. We need the official ICS release by LG to solve them. Examples are no video recording(Camera does work though).
Q: Does Chrome work?
A: Nope! Cnrome does not work because of missing drivers. We need the official ICS build for the Optimus 2x.
Q: My font size is rather small?
A: Increase either the default or the apps specific density at Settings> ParanoidSettings or go into Settings> System> Font Size> and choose another font size.
Q: I've changed some things in Paranoid Settings. After rebooting, these Settings now force close, what do I do?
A: Just reflash the ROM without wipe. This will fix it because it replaces the (modified)pad.prop in /system with an unmodified stock(as the ROM came) pad.prop.
Q: When switching through homescreens, I get a blue outline of the screen and I don't like it, how do I get rid of that?
A: Go to Settings> Launcher> General> Disable the "Tablet effects" option. Then go to the Homescreen settings an change the Transition effect to Standard.
Q: My alarm didn't ring today, so I was late for work, then I got fired, then my house got reposessed, then my car gave out of gas, so now I'm just sitting under a bridge with my phone and what little battery I have left. Why didn't my alarm go off?!
A: This was probably a bsod (black screen of death). All phones react different to different kernels, you have to try yourself which one works best for you. Don't undervolt! Undervolting increases the chance of bsods a lot. If this only happens during charging it's a charging bsod with an easy solution: Go into Settings - Developer Options and check "Stay awake"(No man's financial life was harmed in the making of the above question)
Q: Does the HDMI connection work?
A: Yes! The HDMI connection works at full 1080p HD, just not at 720p though(just like CM7, and any other ROM). Just plug it in and it recognizes it just fine!
Q: When using a root checker, I got a failed root check(saying I'm not getting root access). What do I do?
A: Try wiping the data of Superuser. If that doesn't work, try updating the SU binary, or the app itself. If that doesn't work, the ultimate solution is to wipe data(a complete data wipe/factory restore in CWM to be specific), and reinstall the ROM, this might not work however, a trick that has been used by a fellow Optimus 2x user, found that he had to erase all internal memory in "Mount Storage". But, in reality, there is NO need for a root checker if everything else Superuser related works, so don't worry!!
Q: Can you include the Optimus 4x lockscreen?
A: Unfortunately: No - and there's nothing I can do about that as long as the ParanoidAndroid team doesn't release it's source.
Q: Why isn't Opera working?
A: The newer versions aren't working on on P99x ICS unfortunately. You need to use Opera Mobile v11.5.3 or Opera Mini v6.5.2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extras/Fixes!
Some settings menus are not reachable in TabletUI and Portrait view, the problem is the too small screen size.
For example: Settings - Security - Screen lock - Pattern: The Next and Cancel buttons are missing in TabletUI.
There are three workarounds:
Most of the times it's enough to just tilt the device into landscape, the missing settings will appear due to a specific landscape layout.
Setting the Tablet DPI (128) does make it work, but it will get pretty tiny.
Last but not least: Apply PhoneUI (and if needed even a dpi of 240).
Nice mate awesome work I will make you those graphics

How can I change dialer DPI (or what app does manage call answering screen) .. the fonts are huge and that ring is half under bottom of screen.
Thanks
Great to see PARANOIDANDROID also on O2X,
keep it up
So I've just set it up like I do on every Rom. It is already pretty awesome to have this Rom now on my Phone , thanks for that.
Quick question. Is it a good idea if i flash this lagfix after installing this rom?

Now I managed to get font to normal size, but call answering ring is still half hidden to bottom fo screen. Lockscreen ring position is OK.
Seems like contact picture frame is too big.

Q&A:
What are the known bugs?
There are a couple CM10 bugs present.
The most noticable are:
CM Camera isn't working great. Use the ported ICS Camera as a workaround
Low brightness after unlocking the screen. This is a CM issue with an easy workaround: Turn on all animation and transition scales at Settings - Developer Options.
transparent notification dropdown & statusbar isn't working (or at least not sticking a reboot) (fixed for build 05)
Auto brightness is flawky
HDMI rotation error
Please consult this post for more information about the bugs.
Not all of them are still present, some have already been fixed in the meantime (wifi drain, bluetooth, notification lights)
I got a bug which is not listed here, how do I report it?
First: Try to search for your bug, I don't add each and every stupid minibug to the known bugs list, but it's most likely already mentioned in the thread.
If you didn't find anything then report your bug. I ignore bug reports which don't contain logs, so you should study my [Reference] How to get useful logs thread.
If you want to report a sudden/hot reboot then you need to follow this format for the bugreport.
Can I post in here if I want to chitchat and talk with you guys, recommend my new app discoveries or ask questions which are only slightly related to PA?
No, please use the Userthread for stuff like that.
While everyone knows that I don't mind a couple funny or offtopic posts, we shouldn't drift off too far in the dev thread.
But every post in the Userthread is welcome - especially your tipps & tricks or app recommendations!
Is there any reason why I should use this ROM instead of others?
Well, use whatever ROM you want. This ROM isn't for people who always want to have the newest of the newest - so if you're one of that kind then just move on.
The biggest difference to other ROMs currently out there: This ROM is stable. I'm using it myself as a daily driver.
I really hate threads of people who push out ROMs without testing them or at least reading the users feedback (*cough* jellybam *cough*).
Why the f*** did it took you so long to release PA?
Simple. My PA ROM has always been as stable as possible. I didn't consider CM10 stable enough until now for being eligable to have another ROM out besides the official CM10 ROMs.
The OP is too long, can I ask what I need to know without reading it? And do I really need to search before asking?
Sure, go ahead and ask without searching or reading. I did spent lots of time on a detailed OP and answering questions in the thread, so I can just spent some more time answering every question again and again, right?
As the people who are targeted by this entry probably won't read this anyways but just post there's no need to expand further.
Oh but I'm looking forward to create a hall of fame shame of all those stupid posts :fingers-crossed:
Hahahaha you included HwaSettings again? Why would you do that, we do have fully working hwa, didn't you know?
Ah a smartass. But did you know that hwa increases the application's RAM demands?
The author of the HwaSettings app writes the following:
royale1223 said:
Basicaly you can deny hwui to any app that targets API 10 or below, any app that uses Holo.Light theme(Eg: Gmail : No gradient needed, but you have to be carefull because apps like Google+ and Github relies on hwui for animations/effects) or any app that doesn't have a UI. You see when hwui is not denies some libs are loaded :
Code:
07-17 14:20:37.968: D/libEGL(4041): loaded /system/lib/egl/libGLES_android.so
07-17 14:20:37.976: D/libEGL(4041): loaded /system/lib/egl/libEGL_POWERVR_SGX530_125.so
07-17 14:20:37.991: D/libEGL(4041): loaded /system/lib/egl/libGLESv1_CM_POWERVR_SGX530_125.so
07-17 14:20:37.991: D/libEGL(4041): loaded /system/lib/egl/libGLESv2_POWERVR_SGX530_125.so
If you deny hwui, these are not loaded. So denying hwui for one or two apps won't make a diffrence, but disabling hwui for many apps can save you some memory or even some battery.

As we're running low on RAM with our phone I thought it might be a good idea to include the app, then you can disable hwa for some apps or system parts and post your feedback here.
Additionally here's an interesting post by Dianne Hackborn about hwa.
Oh, that sounds great! But why are my newly downloaded apps not listed within the HwaSettings app?
That's a bug of the app unfortunately. You need to reset it at Settings - Apps (swipe to all, choose HwaSettings and delete data).
Is this the newest version of PA?
No, unfortunately not. The new and improved version (AOSPA 3.0) which source has been dropped in January 2013 is based on AOSP - which we need to port to the 2x first. So the new app in the PlayStore won't work with this "PACM" ROM.
But this ROM does contain all CM10 stuff including the latest CM-based PA hybrid engine.
I heared there's PDroid 2.0 - why is the old version included?
I'm monitoring the new threads of course. PDroid 2.0 is by another author than the original one. Development is currently stalled thus I'm stickying to the original and well tested version for now.

kowalski kernel thread
This ROM comes with the kowalski kernel by by pengus77.
For new versions (which come regularly) check out his thread!
Various:
my modded adb drivers
To be able to use adb in CWM at Windows.
Instructions:
Coming from another ROM:
Make sure you're using a correct recovery. I recommend TWRP, but you can use CWM as well of course.
If you're on the new bl make sure you use the CWM by pengus, not the old ones!
No need for a full wipe you're coming either from a official CM10 old bl or from a CM10 new bl ROM.
Any other ROM: Do a full wipe! Apperantly even needed if you come from CM10.1.
Just do the wipe, you will be thankful afterwards when everything does run better.
Format /system
Choose the correct ROM for your bootloader
Flash ROM + Gapps (from the ones I linked above AND NOT MY NONNEON 4.2 ONE!!!!)
Flash the latest kowalski kernel!
Reboot
Don't restore system apps (like Settings) or system data (like Wifi data) with TitaniumBackup!
You'll find a new Settings entry "Paranoid Settings" - to get a first impression of PA choose "Launch" and then "tonyp's profile".
If you want to use adb in recovery, here are my modded adb drivers for ICS.
Updating from a previous version:
Backup your PA Settings (at Settings - Paranoid Settings - Tools)
Download new build
Flash ROM (you don't need to do a full wipe - or any other wipes)
Flash the latest kowalski kernel!
Reboot

I'm new to ParanoidAndroid. I flashed it and see no difference, what to do now?
I suggest to go to Settings - ParanoidAndroid - Launch - and choose "tonyp's profile".
That's the setup I'm currently using, with the following config:
Standard DPI for apps & system at 190 DPI
Tablet UI for Settings, Browser, Gmail,
6 Holo Toggles in the Notification Dropdown menu and a brightness slider
How to change the dpi (size) and layout of an app
The 1280px layout has been removed from Youtube's newer versions. But these pictures still show the How To!
How to set the workspace mode

Okay, both builds are pushed to the server
http://goo.im/devs/tonyp/ParanoidAndroid-P990
They do contain the kowalski 007 kernel, so you don't need to flash the kernel on top.
But I'm sure pengus will release another kernel build soon as he's damn fast - especially for a penguin
Thanks tonyp for your work.
I Am now downloading.
maybe my last rom.

Just so you know Tony, the link here works fine, But the link in your OP for new bootloader comes up with a message saying OOPS can not find.
Will flash this shortly, just charging the phone up.

It's the cage concept... i only grow depending on the amount of space i have available around me. And the space is small, so i'm forced at my computer. Give me a bigger space, i will grow, and find other things to do
Gonna try this tomorrow, so much good stuff around lately!
Well, Thank you both of you for providing a stable ROM/Kernel for the O2X because those last days all I'm seeing is half-baked ROMs/Kernels or just "i-wanna-be-dev" copy/paste ROMs.
So thanks again.

Working now, I am downloading it.
Does anyone have problems with turning wifi on? If yes please flash pengus77's new kernel on top - that will fix it:
http://d-h.st/users/pengus77?fld_id=9540
Strange enough, worked perfectly fine for me on yesterdays build, on the new one today it didn't - although there were no changes in the kernel repo. Using the new bl version.
But maybe it's just at my end.

Nice to see a new 4.3 Rom
Thx
Nice! I'll try it out and report back some important aspects as recovery present, gsm/sms etc...
-No recovery
-No navbar at startup, but can be turned on. Very huge though.
-battery bar not working
-no root included, may be fixed with new supersu binaries
Over all quite nice
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
I've been waiting for a kang like this one since I flashed CM for the first time on my Z.
There seems to be some issue with navbar, at least with dirty flashes. Ended up without one on first boot and super humongous after I got it to appear on my second, easily manageable due to real time change but still.
Anyway it seems really nice for a first release.

I am currently using SuperDroid v4 on my S4! Will love to try this one for the Z. Glad to see you switch over to Sony!
I'm also getting the large navbar.
Great work!
The navbar problem i also noticed on clean install. You can simple enable navbar in settings and change the dpi you like. In next release it will be fixed.
SuperDroid v2 in upload. New Mini Gapps also updated so download pls. Changelog in OP. Stay tuned...
Come on bro! Cant wait for this!! When is upload finished!?
EDIT: Gapps link is broken, file not found
SuperDroid v2 online also new Gapps package. When you are on SuperDroid v1 only wipe dalvik/cache. Happy flashing...
Hurrah for v2 - Thanks for the update. Recovery working and nav bar still huge, but easily reduced to a decent size in display options
The recovery will not mount external sdcard. So there is no change to go back if you saved your nandroid on ext.sd.card! I am flashing stock firmware right now....
Ma soft keys r not workin.... :crying:
Can some pls help me.....
i had huge problem...
no bottom buttons (back,home...) so could npt čeave settings...

great work
@m3dd0g
nice rom.. best 4.3 rom till now, considering the amount of customizations you've provided. i'd tried version 1 yesterday, liked it, although there was no recovery option... which wasnt a big deal, coz its rooted anyway, and i just had to flash all those zips along with the rom in the beginning... and also, by evening, u'd launched version 2 with recovery anyway... so great work... i cant think of going back to the any of the other 4.3 roms which i'd tried till now coz they might not have all these customization options in their rom... i use the xperia at 240dpi (tablet mode) and have had lags and other crashes on all other roms till now expet this yours - even version 1 was quite stable that way... and have tried used every 4.3 rom cooked till date starting with the leaked google play ported by swift early july... and then the ones after google released aosp and sony had released binaries.. so like i said, best till now, although there are a few teething problems... i think the battery's getting drained quickly.. one second it says i have 16% battery left, n then it goes off and i cant turn it back on till i leave it to charge for a couple of minutes and then when it turns back on, it says 6%... also, i hope u fix the recoovery access for external sd card soon... its no big deal, for now, i've been just copying the stuff to flash to internal, but i keep trying lots of stuff and i like to take full backup on CWM recovery before flashing many unpredictable zips... so i cant hold over 2 backup copies on the internal due to size restriction, whereas i have 64GB on my sd so obviously that would be a heck lot better...but i have a feeling, u'd launch version 3 and fix all this by the time i finish typing this boring long story.. lol..
keep it up.. really interested in where this is going.. cheers
Tonight huge SuperDroid update with alot fixes including latest HALO and PIE with custom color and size and much more...
