What new things brings this new ROM? some grafics changed?
No update aviable for me over OTA.(LA4 DBT)

I'm downloading it as we speak. I have KKA at the moment. Will return with a quick review. What are you interested in finding out ?
I installed it!
It has Utalk, Books and Press and Music Portal apps pre-installed
Ok. First try to flash the new ROM was successful, yet phone can't start-up. It repeats the Samsung Logo at boot-up. I'm trying to do this one more time, then I'm going back to KKA (I don't like LA4 because of the numbers above the keyboard). Will let you know if it works second time.

Same problem. Only thing that went wrong during the flash was the message "couldn't find csc/KOR/system;" Going back to KKA. BTW, I was using ODIN.

Can you point me to a keyboard Samsung official lookalike?
Mirrors anyone? hotfile is crawling 8kbps
Edited: It's ok~ got`em already...
Just a lame question..
Can i change my CSC to russia ( if there's one) and do the LA6 upgrade OTA ?
I updated to LA6 but for some reason by baseband remained LA4. Anyways just want to let you guys know there is a significant performance increase from LA4. Actually starting to feel the power of the dual core chips, it will only get better with future updates.
What's the major difference between LA4 and LA6? I don't think there is any since it's a regional update and is based on LA4.

Yes you can.
To find imei, dial *#06#
Dial *#272*imei#* and choose the country code you need.
n.b. Some phones don't have choices of CSC's, mainly telco locked versions.
You could then flash a rom(stock) that does have a range of CSC's.
N7000XXLA1 - 2.3.6 - 2012 January-N7000OXALA1-Open Europe-Download (wipe version)
n.b. Changing the CSC will hard reset your phone.

Hi, Im trying to upgrade my galaxy tab 7". I bought it 2nd hand and was informed it qas purchased in the middle east and found out later it was rooted also.
Kies does not state a current firmware nor does it give me any option to update. I have tried re-installing kies , updating kies , re-installing of usb drivers but still does not show current firmware.
When i try to find out what csc my tab is , that also is blank.
I'm happy to use odin but wary as i don't know what has previously been installed on my tab?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
From what you wrote it is obvious that you already know the basics of rooting.
Please post result of *#1234# and your csc? Also what does your settings/about phone say?
Appreciate your help,
I tried finding my csc code by typing *#1234# into the phones keypad and all it returned :
PDA:
PHONE: P1000XXJHA
CSC:
My tab also states:
Firmware: 2.2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
[email protected]#7
Build# FROYO.XXJMA
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
something wrong with the previous flash as it is missing the dbdata. in this case kies will not be able to update.
Which firmware do you want to update to? I am sure if you search this forum you will find what you want to upgrade to.
good luck!
I would like to upgrade to a sort of stock gingerbread , Can you.point.me to a guide im a kittle worried as mine is imported.
download and flash this using odin then update using kies
Thanks , I'll give that a go , you couldn't point me towards a guide aswell ? I have never flashed my tab. Also is there anything I should take care with so not to brick my tab, I am surprised by the amount if comments I have read about people bricking there tabs. Do you know if you can un-brick a galaxy tab ? Thanks for all your help.

My friend, on your first post you stated that you are "happy to use odin" yet now you say you never flashed your tab.....
Anyway, on this section there is the very first post by K0sh....look for what you need on that post. I will not answer you again.....sorry.
Thanks for your help, but also me stating I'm happy to use Odin does't have to mean I've already flashed my tab , I'm happy to drive a Ferrari but probably will never get too, anyway you have been a great help , wish me luck

1)Yep,but you just need to be a bit careful and assign the files to their respective sections.
2)No,no need to unroot,Recovery isnt an apk file to get su access ...I dont know why but i have seen many people are asking this same question around :/ Do i need to unroot before flashing this and that...
3)No,the firmware will remove it for you..When you flash another firmware,it will replace your custom recovery with the original android recovery
4)Not much,as far as i know, its just minor bug fixes

How important is to upgrade baseband when flashing a custom CM7 rom?
I mean, my baseband is the one that came with my carrier and is:

Do I need to upgrade to any of this roms before flashing a custom CM7 rom?
Hungary (T-mobile) 2012 June 2.3.6 S5830XWKT7
Spain 2012 April 2.3.6 S5830XWKTM
Russia 2012 March 2.3.6 S5830XXKPT
India 2012 February 2.3.6 S5830DDKQ8

I bought Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 [SHW-M180S] from korea... I'm looking for an advice, guidance and even tutorials on how am I going transform this into ICS...
but before that I just got one big question...
Is there a huge difference with all the galaxy tabs according to specific region in terms of hardware and firmware? ex:
SHW-M180S (Korea)
GT-P1000L/N (Latin America)
GT-P1000R (Canada)
I've seen so many flash rom tutorials via online pertaining to Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 GT-P1000 can I applied this tutorials on my SHW-M180S (Korea)?
how about this link below?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd_9nHKPxLw
its a galaxy tab 7.0 SHW-M180S with a ICS 4.0.3 Beta2 Rom from CM9?????
so meaning, all i have to do was to look for CM9 instruction for my galaxy tab and its doesn't care whether its from korea or other variants? please enlighten me...
thank you very much for helping me out
If it might help

I already tried some of this roms but the problem is the SMS capability, the network signal will be disconnected after you press the send SMS.
This rom will enable your tab to 10 point capacitive touch screen.
This is ICS AOPK 4.0.4
http://main.develoid.com:81/samsung...ich ROM/IceCreamSandwich_M180S_Stable_2.0.tar
And this is JellyBean 4.1.2
http://main.develoid.com:81/samsung/Galaxy/Galaxy Tab/SHW-M180S/새 폴더/Jiwon ROM 2.0S Full.tar
So I decide to flash back to Gingerbread co'z I need the SMS capability.

Oh, realy apreciate your links here. I have to decide wich one to flash. As I don't use any SIM card ont the TAB I don't need the SMS capability, so for me it's ok.
Can you recomend me wich one to flash?
Thanks a lot bro!:good:
You need to flash 4.0.4 first so that you can start all wipe in recovery mode, after you wipe, let the tab finish the setup for ics, after you can check the ics, then you can proceed flashing the Jellybean firmware.

So, correct me if I'm wrong:
- First flash 4.0.4
- When flashing finish, go in to recovery and wipe data/cache
- Then, start normaly and let it setup ICS
- And if evrything goes well, now I can flash JB
Is that correct? Any extra apreciation?
Thanks
Helo hello,
Well, finaly I did the flash uprade to ICS AOPK 4.0.4. And, as luther777 mentioned, it get stuk for hours in the AOKP logo.
I started to panic but with a spark of faith in that it will work fine. So after 4 hours waiting and trying to enter the recovery mode, finaly I managed to open the CWM recovery menu. Did a wipe cache/data two or three times and also formated every thing. And after that, rebooted and leave it all night booting.
The next morning the TAB was asking for the initial setup!! Finaly!!!
So now I'm very happy and looking forward to upgrade it this week to JellyBean 4.1.2.
Thanks every body for helping me and others on the uprade of this Korean TAB version.
Ok, JellyBean 4.1.2. up and running.
For the moment it works great. I'm very happy with it.
Finally!
Thanks everyone here for the advice! I've got JB running, finally! Looking forward to flash with 4.2 soon ^.*
I have a Galaxy S Advance that I purchased in Hong Kong, although I live in the United States. The phone has been working very well on T-Mobile's network for over one year. The phone is running stock gingerbread. I have never flashed any roms.
Yesterday, the phone's touchscreen stopped working. I didn't drop it, and it didn't get wet. It just suddenly stopped allowing touch input. I thought that it might be a software issue, so I booted into recovery and did a factory reset. After re-booting, the phone still isn't responding to touch.
What else can I do to check whether this is a software problem?
Should I try flashing the stock firmware? If so, how do I know which PDA number to use?
Thank you!
Or you could go to the local store with your phone cuz I think this has nothing to do with the firmware...

Can a firmware error cause this problem? I'd love to take it into the shop, but as I said I purchased it in Hong Kong. I live in the US. I suppose I may have to mail it back, but was hoping someone may have some advice.
All of the buttons at the bottom are responsive to touch, but the screen is not.

I guess it's an error in the screen. Or else, try flashing JellyBean XXLQ4 on your device using Odin and the USB Cable. And if THAT doesn't do it. Use CoCore Kernel ( root required ), I read it improves the sensitivity of the touchscreen so you may try that. If that doesn't work, boot into recovery ( volume up + home + power ) and make the reset and cache wipe and flash JB XXLQ4 again. Then go to the nearest phone store, act as if you never tried to install a kernel or rooted ur phone and look if they can find the problem. If found, send to hongkong.
*Edit: added link to JB firmwares. You need the Ser LQ4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110245

Thank you for the advice. Will upgrading to JB via Odin void the warranty? I know that JB hasn't been officially released in Hong Kong yet. Does Samsung care?
Nope. This JB is stock firmware so it can not void your warranty here in Holland I also had some problems, went to samsung with the JB ( which is not yet released ) and it wasn't a problem.

Do not, and I repeat, do not forget to root your phone before you flash the CoCore Kernel. You can root using Shaaans method. It's found in the Dev section and it's quite simple.
Let me know if it worked out

This is a noob question, but if I use the wrong PDA version will it brick the phone? From what I've read it seems that moving to JB is fine even if it's software from a different country (Serbia/Russia). What if I flash the "wrong" country's gingerbread version?
Again, thank you all for the answers. This is very helpful.

Once you've been on JB you wouldn't want sh*tty old GB back haha. Uhmm there is a tutorial about reflashing GB 2.3.6 on the Q&A section, I will search the link and edit this post when I find it
*Edit: Link to downgrade tut is here. It works for all languages / regions, as long as your phone is an 8GB device and not 16GB ( thats for this method ). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100642
*Edit2: just follow the steps described in the topics about the 4.1.2 or do some googling, most of the time there is a specific description with the files.

claim your warranty first, if you have international warranty.. this might be a hardware problem..
for all you said, it suddenly lost touch function..
point is.. let the service center figure out first the cause of the problem before trying to solve it on your own..
after that, you can try JB firmware and modifying it to alot of stuff..

Thank you!

Hi all!
I've been reading all day about how to SIM unlock my I9305 UK 3 Hutchison 4.1.2, and I'm getting somewhere, but feel I've hit a dead end with the sources available online and here. If I've missed something obvious I'm sorry! Would really really appreciate some guidance on where to go next.
I need to downgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 to do the simple unlock trick from the phone dialer code, but the first impediment is I can't find any UK 3 Hutchison firmware for the I9305 anywhere, not on any of the main firmware sites (http://www.samsdroid.com and http://www.sammobile.com) or here on XDA forums, or using Google. Neither 4.1.1 nor later versions.
So first off, if anyone knows where to find that then I guess I'm sorted? Even if I found 4.2/4.3 then I think I could downgrade to 4.1.1 using any carrier's firmware, then sim unlock, then flash the newer 3 Hutchison firmware and be ready for OTA 4.4, right?
If not, I need to know the implications of flashing a ROM from a different region/carrier. I'm going to sell this phone, and Kitkat might be coming out soon, so I need it to be able to accept OTA updates, and this is what I can't find clear answers on.
The ROMs I can find are:
non-UK, non-3, stock 4.1.1 firmware at samsdroid.com, a few versions from different European countries, all from a particular Euro carrier.
And from here pre-rooted UK 4.1.1 EE carrier firmware. My reading suggests that the rooting shouldn't be a problem, that an OTA update will unroot it, which is what I want. But they're not 3 Hutchison.
So what 4.1.1 ROM is best to flash, and how do I get it to a state where it will accept OTA updates?
I think that covers it, let me know if anything isn't clear.
Many many thanks you lovely people!
The would be you best bet, I've run it and its great and although its says it's an EE Rom there is no carrier bloatware, in effect stock Samsung
Product Code: GT-I9305TADEVR (4.1.1) (EE UK)
PDA: XXALK3
PHONE: XXALK2
CSC: EVRALI5

Hi, thanks for replying!
I guessed this was my best bet, but can you or anyone confirm for me, what will be the situation with OTA updates after flashing it?
Thanks!
PS. Don't want to take any unnecessary risks here seeing as I can't find any 3 Hutchison firmware to use as a backup! If only I had that, I could experiment more...
Rooted phone OTA update may well fail on install and phone refuses to boot . See multiple posts .

Oh right, thanks for clearing that bit up!
So what about the issue of using another carrier's firmware?
If I use th EE pre-rooted firmware and unroot, or use the European firmware? Can I then receive OTA updates or do I have to do something or is it not possible?
Thanks

They said 'may' fail, so I guess it's fine for some, disaster for others.

The quote " They said " implies that you haven't used it, so on what basis do you feel experienced to comment...
What's the method you gonna use to unlock the phone? Please tell me.

I think it's pretty obvious from the thread I haven't tried it!
Just trying to interpret JJEgan's words. They cite 'multiple posts'. So I guess the task, when I'm at home, is to search for these posts and decide for myself if there's anything to it. Don't mean to offend you by not taking your word on it, but 1 is a very small sample size!

Multiple posts means multiple users have posted help OTA update has failed usually at the same % in every case phone has been rooted .
Obviously if other multiple users have not had a problem they are not going to post help i don't have a OTA problem due to root .
Searching may not be that easy as many users don't exactly describe a problem in the title .
Me try OTA no i never use stock but i have read the majority of posts on the I9300/05 forum to know that some have a problem with root and OTA .
If it is actually totally untrue better get RootSu to remove it in the sticky .
I have no idea what accusation you think I'm making against Liquid Perfection, and I'm fine with appearing like a newbie, my true identity.
Is there anyone out there who isn't a horrific internet cliché who knows what will happen if I flash a different carrier's firmware on my phone and try to OTA update??
Mod Edit
Thread cleaned.
Please stay on topic.
Thank you

For anyone coming across this in future: I decided to take the plunge and flash 4.1.1 EE software on my 3 network S3, and behold, OTA update worked just fine. No problems so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
