hi all... ICS Status bar theme For [GT-P6800]&[GT-P6810]
To begin:
download the ICS Status bar file and copy it to the System > app
Now simply reboot the device.
3G P6800 http://www.mediafire.com/?l12vz3wz92cg1to
Doesn't work.
Do I have to rename the file? like replace the original SystemUI.apk?
Are you sure
first make a backup copy of the original SystemUI.apk
Then rename the file
be careful guys and remember that you will loose back, home, menu buttons if this doesn't work.
BTW it didn't work with me
for those cant make it work, remember rename/remove the SystemUI.odex as well, otherwise wont work
You don't have to remove the .odex file, where is that code going to go then? When you de-odex it puts a classes.dex file in the apk so there is no need for the .odex file.
Do not remove the .odex file.
Rename it to SystemUI.apk as well. The lazy way is to go into your system/app and copy the stock systemui.apk to your SD card, then paste this file over it, and set permissions.
The smart way would be to copy it in a shell. But that might be to advanced for some people.
And besides all he did was edit the images. At least that's what it looks like. I haven't download it to check for a classes.dex file.
Sent from my sticky fingers because Ice cream sandwiches are tasty.
Soooooo great, thanks !

I did a sum up of the topic :
1 - Go to system/app and rename SystemUI.apk and .odex both to .bkp
2 - At this time systemui keeps force close, just accept (again and again), copy now new SystemUI.apk to same place and set permissions as original SystemUI.apk
3 - Reboot and you're done!
Hope this helps

Great but...
WARNING! All of that blue will burn your new AMOLED screen (blue is the first color to lose brightness). Use this if you want status icons permanently etched in to your screen.
I am not sure why people (even Samsung themselves) don't seem to realise that blue is the worst color for these static screens and constantly love to over use it.
Maybe we can get a status bar with the more OLED safe red, yellow, green or combination of those colors?

Blue is the least efficient so I would guess red or green.
It isn't about battery saving it is about screen saving. I doubt that little bit of graphics for the status bar uses much power no matter what. It will burn your screen though. I think blue has a half-life of 17,000-30,000 hours (red/green over 100,000) so blue will be half of it's original brightness then. Of course you will start to see the burn much before because half brightness is pretty severe. You will start to see permanent image retention (mostly noticeable by a yellowish "stain" in the area of the static image) probably at a couple thousand hours (maybe sooner) depending on how bright you have the screen, and how sensitive you are to noticing these things.
I wish software developers, including Samsung themselves, would keep this in mind when creating mandatory static images on their devices such as status bars etc. OLED is great but it is not LCD when it comes to longevity, and care should be taken accordingly.

Factual Evidence to back this claim up?
Even so, @ 17,000 hours @ 24 houts a day is 708 Days. 90% of people do not keep devices more than a year. Personally I keep them MAYBE 6-8 months before I upgrade. So why sweat about the screen? I am going to put what ever color I want and that I like. End of story.

people with amoled+ screens have already reported burn in issues after only a couple weeks.
primary affected area is status bar. although only really noticeable under certain conditions
for 7.7 users these are valid concerns not so much for 7.0+ devices.

About various other apps/widgets being skinned, well basically you can take the apk that it is in the theme and put it on the root of your sdcard and do this in the recovery console
Code:
mount system
mount sdcard
ls /system/app (only if you need to find the exact name, skip if you don't need the exact name)
cp /sdcard/exactappnamecapsandall.apk /system/app/exactappnamecapsandall.apk
awesome! keep up the great work

literally all this is is a black notification with the clock and date and the text for the notifications white.

Oh I see...thanks.
I would prefer black bars too, but the problem is that app icons are designed for white background, so some of them can't even be seen when the bar is black.

I personally never cared about the app icons on main screen; I only look at the tray icon and notification bar colors and icons.
The icons I'm talking about are notification ones like the one for Swift, which is just a black flying bird. This would be a black bird on black bar background, making it invisible.

actually i think you could probably use that one method to do this also. where you make the apk match the theme. here wouldnt you just have to look for the png and invert the color? or no? i really dont know just says what I's thinks

i could but then if some of the apps or paid then it would be an issue of warez and i would rather not get into that. also it would need to be done every time the app is updated.
true. too much work and trouble. well then, guys if you want a simple black bar, be ready to sacrifice some notifications. none of mine are black, except weatherbug, but thank god you can change that one to white its an option in the app!

just download it, put it on the ROOT of your sdcard(meaning NOT in any folder) then go into recovery and just flash it like you would flash a rom.
basically its exactly the same as flashing a rom.
That's wat I did but it said bad file and then it aborted the instalation

hmmm. which one are you trying, also what did it say , did it tell you it was a bad file (i had that one with a rom, and redownloading it fixed it) or did it say something about about verification or not being signed properly?
I was flashing it normally and it said the blackbar(bad) instalation aborted I was using cm 4.11.1 but I will redownload and try again
i think it might be the signing thing.. does the file name have anything to do with it? cause i see for 4.0.4 it says signed but 4.1.11.1 does not. might be that?
crap i gotta go back to work. be back later!

nawh man, (or else i probably would've heard something from the 15 or 16 that have got it so far).
i think that means that the download got corrupted, try to redownload it and flash it again, if that doesn't work i will resign it and upload it again.
ok i tried redownloading but its not working with 4.1.11.1 then i tried to download the other one to see if it was a problem with my conection it downloaded fine. i think i might need a mirror
hey everyone
it turns out i am not great at image editing lol i spent the better part of a morning messing around in gimp trying to reproduce that shiny effect where it looks like light is reflecting off part of an image. i think i was heading in the right direction by trying to apply a gradient effect to the image but just couldn't get it to come out looking professionally done. infact my work looked more like a 2 year old had done it lol
any ways i have attached the image and if you look you can see how at the tops and bottoms of the image it starts out dark and as it moves to the center of the image it lightens. I would like to do this but in black and have it fade to gray so that it matches the black status bar on the hero. does anyone want to modify this image for me and maybe tell me how they did it :-D
Just hit the swap color button in GIMP. It will swap the two colors and then you should achieve what you want.

I am not sure how color swap would give me the effect I am looking for being that the top and bottom start with the same color and then fade into a different single color in the center. If you could elaborate that would be great.

invert got me closer to what i am looking for, though using invert gives me the darkest areas in the center. I would rather have the darkest areas at the edges and have it lighten as it moves to the center.
(maybe it is possible using one of the three choices you mentioned but when I went to color and clicked invert it just inverted the colors, no 3 choices)

Did you use invert, or value invert? In either case, after that use the Blend tool to pick a gradient and apply it.

I was playing around with the invert and invert value and they kind seem to do the same thing or at least that is what my eye things. Maybe it is just it looks that way when dealing with the whites and grays that are in that image.
So this is what I've done so far. I think it does a pretty decent job matching the status bar but as you can see for some reason the image isn't flush with the bottom of the screen, any one have some ideas on y this is & how to fix it

Good work, that is really impressive.
I'm very new to android dev/hacking and I hope this is acceptable conduct (taking someone else's theme and putting a different spin on it) but I really liked Frost Remix NexTheme but I wanted a different battery notification icon, updated charging icons and thanks to some prodding from ludeboy, I felt the default settings text should be changed so I made my own spin on a theme which I'm posting here for your using pleasure.
Change Log...
10/2/2010
Theme Frost Remix from 9/27/2010 (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788294)
Changed secondary text from baby blue to green
Replaced battery icons and updated charging icons from "D" variant of Fightspit's Super Circle Battery mod (Thanks for porting s44 - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791886&page=3)
As soon as a figure out how to turn this theme into a rom I will and I'll get that posted but for the time being, here I have attached the framework-res and twframework-res.
To install - copy both files to your system/framework folder and restart your phone.
****This has been tested on my phone and works fine but as always - use at your own risk but let me know if you run into any problems...and always back up your originals ******
Big Thanks to ludeboy for the request to identify what xmls to change for color mods (I'm fairly up to speed on how the theme engine works), frostman88 for the initial theme and s44 for porting over the battery mod!
Works great bud! Just installed it and love it. Any way you can make the battery indicator, wifi meter, vibrate phone "lines", and the icons from the pull down menu when selected the same green as the text? I have a green type theme going on and would love it all to match. If not its cool since I have my notification bar hidden on home screen anyways but figured I could ask. Thanks for your work.

I'll look into that - I like the green on black and do also currently like the green thing going on. I'm going to do some more tinkering but my creative is lacking from a graphical standpoint so if anyone has great ideas - If I like them I'll look at them and either roll another flavor or build it into what I have here.

Short Answer -
framework-res.apk\res\color-hdpi\zzz_tw_secondary_text_sub.xml
framework-res.apk\res\color\zzz_tw_secondary_text_sub.xml
(I think the first file is the only file that actually had to be modified but the second file was a few steps of color different from the first so I just modified both of them)
Long Answer -
It took me a little time to get familiar with how the themeing (styles, layouts, etc) worked but I think I have a pretty good handle on this. To figure out what controlled the text color I dumped the settings.apk, identified the layouts and styles, traced the styles backwards until I worked my way back into the framework-res.apk and then located that it was pointing to the color file of zzz_tw_secondary_text_sub
I spent about 5 hours digging but now knowing the how the colors, layout and styles work I could most likely have done it in 15 minutes.
Ah right, you know I saw it pointed to a specific color, like color1, color2, color3, but I had been up for about 19 hours with 5 hours of sleep and really did not feel like trying to trace it back to whatever else apk.
So overall I had about 30 min to dig through the xmls.
Darn, I'm so peeved right now. In the time it took for you to post this up,
I went and Odin Restored my phone, re-clean deodex + aosp'ed it,
used the Black Mod theme in Metamorph,
and then applied the D Circle Battery,
and backed it up like 5 times. If i'd have seen this sooner, it would have saved me so much time
Thanks for this. I really like Frostman's theme, but I did want the circle battery indicator, and I also really like the green text.
Works good. I like the green and the battery. Thanks

I copied the battery mod into the System/framework folder, first, and it borked my wallpaper back to the underwater live wallpaper, and then I kept getting FCs when I tried to open Root Explorer again. After I restarted, I was able to get the other file in, using Root Explorer, and I was able to reset my wallpaper. Nothing big, but I thought you might like to know.

Thanks - I am guessing that could be something to do with root explorer possibly. I do not use root explorer and currently am doing all my pushes using adb. I'll look at root explorer and see if I can explain what happened (guessing maybe a dependency thing but who knows).

Under Power Saving Options ---> I recommend to enable show the remaining battery percentage (the one that shows the number aside the icon) and disable the battery level label on top of the icon. However, you can now choose the second option too since I modified the color to be black (over white icon).

The theme is great! But I've found a little bug. When I enter the PIN number, but "*" are white, can you make the background black?
Suggestions:
In the wifi menu (just for an example), the buttons in the bottom (to search wifi) are hard to read;
Colorful icons;
When selecting a menu, the selection bar before entering the menu is to bright;
The little arrows in the network bar (when mobile data is active), they are hard to read, it should be another color

Can you fix the text color in url textbox in web browser? Now it is dark grey on black background. Thanks!
Yeh I noticed that too =)
Will try to fix it asap. And now that I have to look into the browser, I may theme it too. =)
Edit: by the way, I already fixed the signal arrows on top of wifi/signal icons. Now its holo blue with black shadow.
And also fixed the color of the borderless bottom buttons in some setting screens (like WiFi and Sync) to a darker color. Now the text is completly readable.
Edit2: now you can also select the battery percentage to be on top of the icon. I changed the percentage to be black instead of white so its readable.
Edit3: fixed black on black text on LGBrowser URL box.
New version up.
Solved most of the bugs above mentioned.
Redesigned contact default pictures.
Hope you like the new settings/dialer background. I think its dark enough to read everything. However if someone feels its too much annoying, dont hesitate to say it. I might change the background in the coming days.

Another suggestions
1 - The background should be more subtle. In the definitions, with the letters, some parts are a little hard to read...
2 - The active options (that have a "V"), the background is black and the "V" is blue, like the default. But in comparison to the options that aren't active, with the white background, it stands out more the non active option than the active options. I think the background should be switched.
3 - In the notifications bar, when in notifications, the background in the left square (that have the icon), are too bright, the background should be more black, if not really black.
4 - When selection of a menu, right before entering the menu, the color of the selection is a little too bright.
5 - Colorful icons
A last suggestion, at least for me, it would be nice to have a theme Black&Blue. It gave more life to the phone.
Overall, that is a great work!
Thanks for new version
Arrows on wifi and signal indicators are ok, percentage on battery indicator too.. But I don't like the background of dialer, settings menu etc., maybe only black color is better..
But thanks for your great work!

Thats right, I modified it to be darker, without white spaces.

Ill make colorful themes in a future. But I just want to make this to my taste, since Im not one of those persons who like colorful UI's. Once I get this theme done, I'll start the colors.

Im sorry but I'm making this theme to my own taste.
You'll have to wait for other themes to see if they fit your taste better =)
Edit: aaand the text box on pin lock screen... its not much of an issue. I mean, Ill eventually fix it, but its just 4 "*"characters what you miss.

Great! Can't wait for more...
I fixed the PIN lock screen issue. It was pretty easy to find the value which stands for the text color.
But, before I upload the last version with the fixes. I also wanted to change the settings header (top grey bar with the settings default icon and "Settings" text) but wtf I keep looking for it and I dont seem to find it. Now Im lost, not sure if its gonna be an xml hex color code, or a small png somewhere under the drawables.
If someone has any idea about where could it be, I'd appretiate the help =)
And this...

Hi xda community. This is my first time posting here, even though I have been gaining experience from many thread for a while now
Must say all of you have been doing a very good job (most of the time, more reliable than manufacturer) :good:
Ok, I'll get to the problem I'm facing now
I'm currently using RomAur 8.0 and I did choose the option to wipe everything so I'm not sure why this issue occurred
I have this werid grey color instead of black on my volume panel which it has never been like this before in any other roms
So if anyone ever face the same problem that I have, could you provide the fix, please
Thanks in advance
PS.Came from NUT .757 6902 rom LB
PSS.I don't mind any geeky method, I can learn something new
Almost forgot
I've tried to ask in RomAur thread but the rule said that I need atleast 10 posts to reply in Android Development section so...:silly:
Into the system there is a .png file with that grey bar and have to be replaced with the black one and then reboot. Easy job for rooted phones. The heavy job is just to find the file/s to replace.
Unfortunate
Sorry to bother, but I can't find that png file
I've found xperia wallpapers
next,up,previous,right arrow,left arrow ,etc. icons
but no luck finding the grey one
Oh, and I've just found out it occur in almost every panel that came up in application
the status bar colour is also weird (above "notification" blue mix with grey instead of black)
Thank for replying :highfive:

I did this many times on HTC and it's the same for Xperia but the customization is different and the problem is to find the right file to replace, which at the moment I don't know which it is as I don't have it grey but black. It can be even in the SystemUI.apk but not sure, a recognized Themer like @funky0308 maybe can help here, maybe...
Also you have to extract the black one from different source to put it in your phone, so all this is tricky.
Sorry to not have the right solution...
Take framework-res.apk from stock ROM (use deodexed ZIP from XDA - firmware 761) and simply replace it in framework folder.
Don't forget to change permissions before moving it to framework folder.
