I have an issue with my cappy running Cog 4. Out of the blue, applying the traditional calibration process (full-on, un plug-off to charge when off, turn-on & wipe stats) gets stock with the phone off. This is happening with Cog 4.1 and 4.2.
The battery will be charging for ever when the phone is off, even when the phone shows 100%/full status when on. Wiped stats twice, played with different kernels and result will be always the same. Never full charge when the phone is off.
I haven't put this question in the Cog Q&A thread, because it seems is not rom related. Suggestions are welcome
Try another ROM. Andromeda is very good on battery and the indicators work well.

Thank you AdamOutler, may give it a try, although I have been using Cog since Dec. and I am very happy with it. I believe that the battery calibration is not related to the rom you are using... but believe is different than certain, that is why a posted the question.
My NC is installed CM7.0.3 in emmc mode. Every time when the battery reache around 31%, it will black out. No matter how i press the power key,it hasn't any reaction. Untill i plug on the USB charger, it'll power on to the system and charge the battery at 31%, and It work at seem to be normal.
Has anyone else experienced problems like these?
nope ive gone down 20 percent this has never happened to me.

Have you tried recalibrating the battery with the menu option in CMR? Need to charge to 100% before you do it though. It may be displaying a false %.

Yeah, i have tried the battery calibration, the battery doctor, and wipe the battery status at recovery mode, also every time i have waited the battery to charge up to 100%, but nothing to change.
Mines does that. Around 12%. Screen turns right Barack up when plugged in though

I had the exact same problem as you. In the end I flashed back to the stock B&N 1.2 firmware, then left it plugged in overnight. Next day I used CWM to reset battery stats and wipe system/data/cache, before installing CM7. Attempted to drain the battery and it went all the way down to 0% =).

I have the same problem except I'm running stock 1.2 unrooted. I have a CM7 build on a microSD that I use sometimes. How would you recommend I reset battery stats?
Mine has the problem but it started when I updated u-boot.bin to 1.2 for putting 2.6.32 kernel and Dal's CM7 on my NC.
First time it happened at 40% and before that battery % went up while off charger with 2.6.29 kernel.
With 2.6.32 kernel, it happened at 37%.
Put it on USB charger, it booted up fine. Will try to reset battery stats once fully charged. By the way, charger N is orange when CM battery % says 100%. Stats definitely are screwed up. Hope CWR battery reset will do the trick.
Same issue, stumped
My battery seems to die (screen blacks out) at 30 percent, sometimes 28 or 29%. Uptime prior to that happening is roughly 11 hours or so, with these stats before blinking off:
Battery status: Discharging
Power plug: unplugged
Battery level: 28
Battery scale: 100
Battery health: Good
Battery voltage: 3373 mV
Battery temperature: 36.9 C
Running Android 2.3.3
CM 7.0.3-encore
It didn't always do this, just recently in the past two days. I can't help but feel it's tied to an install, but the Netflix build.prop fix is the only one I can really remember being significant.
At 100% charged I've wiped the battery status in recovery, cleared cache (tried to wipe dalvik but got an error) and the nook still turned off at 30%. I recharged just enough to get the battery up to 31% and re-edited build.prop back to the original settings, rebooted, and waited for it to run down again. It died at 29%.
Desperately looking for ideas short of a reinstall of the mod...

If it is related to the 1.2 upgrade, what's confusing me is that my nook just recently started doing it a couple of days ago. Prior to that I could get a full discharge.
Overall I don't think the battery is bad, since I can get a full day of play with it with Wifi on most of the time and streaming about a 2 hours of video. But having 30% be the new zero is just weird.

B&N 1.2.0 ROM or the 1.2.0 u-boot stuff? Because I'd only believe this if you're saying it happens consistently on the 1.2.0 B&N ROM..

I don't have it blanking out until I get to about 10%. I wonder what the difference is... I am using a nootered nook and OC kernel.
just noticed this over the weekend. I was actually charging to reset the battery stats. judging from the other posts I can expect that not to help.
I don't recall itdoing it immediately after the 1.2 uboot but I'm now on the cyanogen 1.2 and its the same. worst part istheres no warning at all just blanks out.

Thanks for the link. I wish I could contribute on that discussion but I am about 7 posts short. I am not using an overclocked kernel whatsoever, but my experience mirrors those listed there: death at under 3000 Mv, which for me occurs around the 30% battery level.
My stats are, to the best of my knowledge since I'm very much a noob, here:

One more "me too"... Happens to me around 25%... Have to plug back into the wall for second and then boot back up when it happens... Pretty scary if I were using this thing for any real work - luckily, it's just a play-thing for me to learn Android (got my eye on the new Asus tablets though!)...
This problem is happening to me as well. I
haven't updated to the 1.2 firmware and running CM 7.03. The screen will black out at 30%. Will wiping battery stats in CWR not help?

so i understand the calibration gig, or at least superficially think i do, but i'm having a problem. as soon as i charge to 100 and click calibrate it immediately says it was successful without allowing me to drain the battery. this didn't use to happen. somehow i don't think i'm calibrating properly anymore. thoughts? am i completely off base and this is correct?
thanks in advance everyone

What do you mean by "allowing me to drain the battery"? When I click calibrate I immediately get that message as well and disconnect my phone from the charger. That's how it's always been for me.
that's reassuring. i meant that after pressing calibrate we're supposed to drain the battery for it to go successfully
Oh I guess this app doesn't work that way? I don't know I've never done that.
the way I understand it is that when you press calibrate, all it does is delete the battery stats file in the system. the reason you need to discharge it after that is because on the first full cycle the system will rebuild that file correctly to the ROM you are using.
Hello guys I'm using a Galaxy Note GT N7000 on CM10.1 with NX Kernel
Recently I've been having a problem of battery drain. Even when I have put it in charging, the phone seems to have been draining out of it. I have tried to change the USB cable and the charger both, but still the problem persists. Does this mean that it'll get solved by a new battery? or there is some other issue causing this problem? Would wiping data cache or battery stats help? If so, I'd be glad for your help! If you require any more information, let me know. Thank you..

Witch nxkernel version are u on and have tried to full wipe everything and start from scratch the other thing is if its your battery you would probably be seeing stuff like your screen flickering and then the phone shuts down after reboot you find you have 1% battery that's the normal battery signs but other then that if it is dieing when charging you would have a huge drain and a fresh start could fix also you could check some battery stats see if something is staying active and could be an app doing this as well.

Hey I tried the following:
1. I tried a brand new battery but it didn't affect anything. I still tried a few more adapters and cables, nothing.
2. I did a full factory reset and the kernel was stock Cm kernel.
Still, the problem is persisting.
The NX Kernel that I WAS using, was version 1.3.9
What else can be the problem? Thanks in advance.
What governer have u set? And have u overclocked it?
Battery can be at 90% in a blink of an eye drop to the point of a warning pop up showing 1 percent battery life, then shuts off.
If I plug it in battery level is back up where it should be.
Sometimes shutting it off for a few minutes & restarting battery level comes back up or just plug it in, level jumps right back up then unplug it, level stays up.
This problem has been going on for awhile, at first it was just hit & miss, more of minor annoyance, but now it is a royal pain in the behind.
As long as I am where I can plug it in for a minute or so I can still use the tablet. Kind of hard to do when reading at the gym though
I am running CM 11 on it, but I don't really think this is what the problem is since I have been CM 11 since it first came out & this problem started about 2-3 months ago. I tried wiping the whole system & started over with nothing but the bare minimum on the tablet & issue with battery level was still present.
Somebody my wife works with had this same issue with their Nook HD+, but luckily his was still under warranty and B&N replaced it.
I don't have that option.
Any ideas on fix for this issue other than buy another tablet?
Help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mark

I would've bought a new tablet 2-3 months ago. lol ...Unfortunately, mine keeps on going.
If you really want to see if its hardware, then try stock bn rom and check for issue.
You could also try full power discharge to full charge (several times) and see if it helps. I would try the bn rom first though as that's the most drastic difference.
And if it gives up on you along the way, c'est la vie.

Yeah I would have bought a new one 3 months ago, but takes money, due to health reasons something I do not have.
Tablet actually other then the battery issue works great.
Thanks for your suggestions though.
I was just curious if anyone else has come across this issue & any possible solutions.
Sorry to have taken up your time.
I solved this problem. To do this, disconnect and reconnect the battery cable. Now the battery is discharged smoothly. Battery life 8-10 hours

Works sometimes doing this other times doesn't.
Problem seems to be getting worse.
In the beginning doing what worked for you would take care of it, but not any more.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I had similar issue back in March. I read somewhere that it is battery cable connection/cold-solder problem. I opened up my nook and unplug/re-plug in the battery cable, didn't work. And then I taped a few layers of TP on top of the connector so that the back cover of the nook is supporting the connector. The battery discharge was back to normal since, but unfortunately it started to happen again last week.

I had the same problem, with battery charge level appearing to fluctuate wildly. In the end, I fixed it by doing a full discharge followed by a full recharge.
You can't do a full discharge while running the normal ROMs, because they will shut down the Nook automatically when the charge level starts to get low. Instead, run a CWM ROM and let it sit until the Nook dies for lack of power. Then plug in the battery cable and leave it until the charge level returns to 100%. In my case that took quite a few hours.
Since doing that, I haven't had any repeats of the problem.

That is a bad idea the Nook does not like to recharge once it has been drained to that point.

I am running CyangenMod 11 & battery drops from 100% to 1% whenever it feels like it. Plug it in for a second & level shoots back up to were it should be for a while then it does it all over again.
If the rom you are talking about is what I have installed I have tried & tried to run the battery completely down, but it is impossible.
Long as I have charging cable handy to plug it in things are fine.
Thanks for the suggestion.

My Nook HD+ too have this problem after updating to Snapshot11 OTA. Currently it is unusable without the cable being connected to the power. Also have the ghost click/automatic click problem, where the touch events automatically registered without me even touching the screen. Waiting for the Snapshot 12 and hope that this will be corrected in the update.

It was probably confusing because CWM isn't a ROM, it's a recovery. If we get our terms and definitions right we will be more easily understood.
Not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out that communication is easier when we all have the same jargon.

I know what the terms mean. I just was tired & made a very simple mistake in my reply.
I know that CWM is recovery I have used it plenty of times for the past 2 years since I have owned my Nook HD.
My only mistake with terms & definitions was replying & answering a question when i should have been sleeping.
Want to pick a fight, bring it own! Just kidding you. I only do that in person, not behind a screen. Been a few years, but what the heck.
OK back to the topic at hand. Doing a full discharge in CWM recovery, didn't seem to do the trick. Tried unhooking battery & rehooking no go there either.
I do not believe it is a rom issue, since my wife works with a guy who had the same issue with his Nook that had the B&N setup still intact.
rom.
Plus I am running the same rom on my wife's Nook HD problem free.
Once again thank you very much for the suggestion I really do appreciate it.

Didn't work
Seems to be others with this issue. I have tried removing battery cable, doing a complete battery drain in recovery, then full recharge. Problem is still there.
I am almost tempted to revert back to stock rom & see if problem goes away, but seems to be a bit tricky with the newer CWMrecovery installed.
Have gone through so many threads on reverting back to stock, I am more confused now then before.
I know I can't restore stock with the version of CWM that I have, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to revert back to the older version of CWM recovery, so I can flash the stock img.
I have the links for the dummies guide and I am sure what I am looking for is there, but as was mentioned here before I need to get with the program & use correct terms and the more I read this the more confused it makes me.
