[Q] Sense 3.5 signal icons - Desire HD Themes and Apps

I'm trying to change the signal icons but not having any luck.
I've tried changing the ones in systemui.apk/res/drawable-hdpi starting at stat_sys_signal_0.png
Are they located somewhere else?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using Tapatalk

No but if you notice there are a different sets of signal icons. Just have to change the right ones. The System UI has the icons for all carriers and they are all different.

The files you're looking for are:
stat_sys_5signal_0.png
stat_sys_5signal_1.png
stat_sys_5signal_2.png
stat_sys_5signal_3.png
stat_sys_5signal_4.png
stat_sys_5signal_5.png
stat_sys_5signal_null.png
The UOT kitchen seems to have no effect on this files, so even if you create a mod with the UOT, you'll not see any change on signal icons!!

theming question

im trying to make a theme and can't seem to change the signal bars icons. everything else in the theme works just fine. i can change all the other notification icons. but when i change the icons for the signal bars, it for some reason doesn't do anything. every time i reboot the phone it goes back to the stock signal bars. any ideas? also im wondering if you know how to/where to go to remove the recently used apps from the notification bar???
thanks!
any help would be appreciated.
How are you trying to change them?
They are located in your frameworks files.
They are named:
stat_sys_signal_0.png
stat_sys_signal_1.png
stat_sys_signal_2.png
stat_sys_signal_3.png
stat_sys_signal_4.png

Negative, they are in com.htc.resources and the signal bars are cdma_sys_4signal and the data icons are cdma_sys_data and just search lte to find the lte icons in the same folder.
you need to change them in com.htc.resources.apk
they are :cdma_sys_4signal_X (x being 0-4)
edit:
HEH mob just beat me to it...
anyone know how to remove the recently used apps from the pulldown???

update: i FINALLY got it to work! hahaha that was so frustrating! now i just need a fix for the recently used apps and ill be good. =) and I found an update.zip for getting rid of the recently used apps. Getting close on this theme. Thinking of calling it thunder-lime...... Unless I can think of something better.
i could have sworn i answered this this morning maybe it was another forum

Manually Changing Icons

So I want to change a few icons. I found the location for the SMS/MMS Icon (ic_launcher_smsmms.png) so i just have to change the name of the icon file that i have to ic_launcher_smsmms.png and then put it in place of the original Icon file. Correct ?
I can't seem to find the one for the video player, there is no ic_launcher_videoplayer.png like i figured there would be. So if someone could help me find the location of that, and the email one and the app drawer launcher icon. I would greatly appreciate it.
So I renamed the icon file that i want to use, to ic_launcher_smsmms.png and tried to move it to the correct directory, but everytime i click paste, it moves it one directory back from the one i want, how do i get it to replace the current png with the new one ?
Where do you find the pngs?

Did you mean where did I find the pngs that I want to use or where on the phone did I find the PNG I am trying to replace?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's not the name of the icon for the sms/mms app. You'll find that icon in the actual mms.apk.
Video Player would be the same thing, you would find the icon for that in the Video Player.apk.
That is where I found that file at. In the .apk. I was told that was the right one. If not then which is?

Just use a Launcher if you're not already and long press the icon and hit replace or whatever the option is and look through your phone for the new icon you got. May, not be what you want but it's a not less of a hassle then what you're doing.
That only changes the icons in your home screen. I want them changed all around. I don't care if its a bigger hassle lol if I cared I wouldn't be asking. So can someone tell me what to do. I am thinking that I can't just change it through the phone can I. I have to dump the files on my computer. Then change the ones I want and the flash it to my phone. Am I correct ?

I've been looking at Go launcher Ex pretty simple expect for making the icons.
Well was I correct tho about how to do it. Cause I was thinking I could just edit the icons I want in the zip of your ics theme that I have and then just reflash the theme.

If i understand correctly, in order to change the icons, you'd have to edit each individual apk. For instance, if you want to change the icon for facebook you have to edit facebook.apk but if there is an update for it, then you have to edit the apk again.
Thats why im looking into making a theme for adw launcher. That way no matter how many times an app is updated, it will display the themed icon. I chose adw since its the launcher that comes with GingerVolt.
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk
so I was right about how to do it. But like you said I would have to re do it everytime the app gets updated. So your idea on making an adw icon pack. Would that change the icons in the app drawer too. Not just the ones in the launcher and on the homescreen?

Word. Think I will have to look into making an ADW Icon Pack as well

4g mod

Does anyone in this community know of a mod/ and or launcher that switches the boring "H+" to a "4g". I used search, but the mods that I have found seem to be for different roms, unless they are universal towards any rom? I'd like to switch it, if it is possible. I also understand the LG status bar is probably complex since the gingerbread update now has it changing from green to white.. any help/comments would be appreciated.

Don't think there is anyway to change from H+ to 4G. As I believe those require different hardware... Not software.

Incorrect. It's software.
Framework files.
If anyone can get the files that display the 4G, I can change it.

So you could 'mod' the framework files to access a 4G network instead of the H+ network?
Figured it worked like 3G. My bad.
Oh wait, nevermind. I misread the OP. He wants to change the H+ icon to a 4G icon. Just change the icons. That's the way it is with ThrillSeeker. It is H+, however it says 4G instead.
I have them in one of my themes. I forget which one... I will look...

Rom toolbox is great I've used it steady for well over a year..it will change almost any icon, boot animation and others...
For me with the thrill the only thing I could change with out really messing up my phone was the fonts and select boot animations...everything else I tried messed with the phone and wouldn't even boot after reboot causing me to have to flash a backup through cwm.

I always change fonts via rom toolbox. I must have tried 10 by now. (No bugs yet, but I always look for smaller fonts and I'm digging the Sony font)

4g icon

What's up themers. Not sure if this has been covered but is there a way yank the 4g icon set from the att systemui and have it work with the sprint systemui?
I rather like that icon over the basic looking sprint version.
Thanks.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
extract the images you want from the att zip/apk, then find where they are in the rom or zip you're installing and just drag the at/t icons into the sprint rom/zip, it will replace the original sprint icon with the new at/t one AS LONG AS FILE NAME IS THE EXACT SAME.
Mucho thanks.
Also, I'm on viper rom and wondering how to go about changing the notification shortcut icon order. I like Clean roms order.. Exact same way I'd do it.. Would the same technique of extracting/copy/replace work?
*edit: I'm in the drawable-xhdpi folder and there's a bunch of icons in there, and what seems to be like the att 4g set as well. Maybe all htc ones have these files?

in that case i would do it differently... i'd find the bit i wanted from clean rom and just copy that whole apk/zip to the viper rom zip, making sure to over-write the viper one. Make sure you backup before trying, just in case. Haven't tried this myself but i've done it with similar tweaks...etc from different roms/themes
---------- Post added at 03:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 AM ----------
you can pretty much extract the images from ANY theme/rom/mod...etc and copy them to a rom/tweak package that's compatible with your version of the 'one' and it should work, as long as they got the exact same name and you're not going a million miles away from the original icon/image (in terms of icon size, transparency).
I swear, i've just spent 2 days messing about trying diff statusbar icons, clocks, even been trying to get the 'touch of blue' dialer from this forum to work on trickdroid, fun 2 days tho ahaaha
Thanks for the reply.
A few questions:
When copying the wanted apk/files from one rom to another, should I use the APKTOOL decompile/compile or can copying/renaming the wanted file(s) in the system folder of my phone work just the same?
Sorry for the n00bishness.. kinda new to the whole theme-ing thing.
and keep at it man.. I'm just getting my feet wet into theme-ing but well worth the effort for making our phones "ours"

just drag and drop the apk from the rom/mod you want into the zip you're about to flash, just don't take mods from sprint section and use them on an at/t rom, or international mods into sprint/att/t roms...even then you can have problems (like trickdroid and arhd in the other forum). About the dialer (from this forum) i want, i can't get it to work BUT as soon as someone makes a mod in MY forum for a dialer i know it will work, all i'll have to do is replace all the images (and sometimes ONLY the images you want)
trial and error, if error occurs.... nandroid
This is a systemui.apk that you need to push as i dont know how to make a flashable one
Nice! Thank you for this.
*edit: doesn't seem to have worked for me. Replaced systemui.apk in system/apps, rebooted, still looks the same.
Anyway you could compile an apk with the white 4g icons and indicators rather than the orange and blue color ups?

Moto X White Status Bar for Droid Maxx

Hello,
here i present you the moto x 4.4 white status bar for droid maxx, ideal to use with gravitybox to get the whitish kitkat look.
Obviously Root is required.
Simply put The file in System/Priv-app.
backup the original file just in case you dont like it.
and restart the phone.
These icons ARE NOT VERIZON UGLY 4G/3G Icons.
This file doesnt change Clock and Battery color, thats why you need gravity box.
if this was useful to you press thanks!
Can't you just adjust the colors to white in GravityBox? What is different with this? Just curious.

Its not the same as that because he only changed a few icons or the most used ones, like 3g, 4g and lte, but other than that it shows default blue icons, this one has all the icons from the white kitkat, as its extracted and pasted on the systemui.
