[Q] Induction charger works under CM7/CM9? - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased a HP Touchpad in last week's WOOT-off. Was wondering if the induction charger capability works under either the CM7 or CM9 android mods?
Is induction charging simply an automatic hardware thing, or does the OS need to control it?
Any help appreciated: TIA.
I have had Nook Colors, HTC phones and Asus Transformer and XDA folx are the MOST HELPFUL on the planet.

Has worked fine for me under both CM7 and CM9.

Awesome! Thanks.

there is possible to use jack for watching nook color on tv ?

hi,
i have the cable for the jack of my samsung galaxy s for watching on tv.
can you think it's possible to adapt this for nook color ?
sorry for my speaking,
best regards, from france.
I've never heard of the Nook Color having video-out capabilities. I don't think it's possible.
We're not really sure yet. Most likely not with that cable. The extra pins in the stock cable are most likely for the fast charger circuits.

Alternate Power Adapters/Cables for the HD, HD+

Hi, I'm curious to know if anybody has found alternate (cheaper) power adapters and cables for the HD+, or if anybody has information on the pinout that makes the stock adapters/cables unique.
Thanks.
BTW it's far-fetched to expect it to work but has anyone tried to use Apple's 30pin cable for charging? If the pin out for the 5v is the same it may be able to handle charging (most certainly not anything else though). Now that I think it would work, it probably won't fit either... anyway maybe it's worthy of a try for anyone owning both kinds of tablets...

No they are different 30 pins connector, not to mention they probably have different pins output.
I have to say, I hate the new 30 pin Nook cable. .

They are totally different. Apple's cable even doesn't fit to the nook slot.

The Galaxy Tab also has a 30 pin connector that looks very much like it but also does not fit. I have bunch of those I was hoping to use.

Concerning the power adpter: the one supplied with the Nexus 7 works just fine. I guess any USB charger with enough power (both Nook and Nexus 7 are 2000 mA) will work.
the adapter from my galaxy notes 2 and 10.1 will not charge the hd+ at all, not even a trickle.

If it is like the Nook Color, the charger block needs the data+- pins shorted before it will charge properly. That said, I have both the Color and HD/HD+. The HD/HD+ charger block will charge the Color but the Color block will not charge the HD/HD+.

Hi,
I would like to request some help from you guys. I am on holiday in Canada (I'm from the UK) and neglected to take my Nook hd+ usb charger, only the cable. You know when you go on holiday and keep thinking to yourself that you forgot something, well for me it was the plug in charger. I have used multiple high output usb devices (supposedly 2A) but none of them have given any juice to my HD+, only a pleasant green light where I plug in the cable and 2 mins ago after leaving it plugged in all day it just gave a message to plug in my device. Is there any alternative charger available generally that anybody has had experience with that will charge the HD+? Can anybody otherwise advise me how to easily and effectively short the + and - on a charger without endangering the house where I staying as a guest?
Other than the issue with the generic charger I love the Nook hd+ but it is clear that Barnes & Noble have purposely crippled the HD+ to stop it charging from any device other than the original charger.
Your kind consideration of the above sad tale would be worshipfully appreciated.

This would seem to be the case, the cylindrical (2000 mA) charger for the HP Touchpad works fine. I think the nook color is 1500 mA

It does not even fit the socket. (If you meant the Galaxy Tab 2).

Zagg SPARQ2.0 portable USB 4000mAh battery pack works well
I have found that the portable twin USB socketed battery charger from Zagg, the SPARQ2.0 will happily charge my HD+ from its second port. Although not from the first port. It charges my HD+ at what seems to be the full speed too.
The SPARQ2.0 has a pair of US mains socket prongs that fold out in order to charge the battery pack itself. These may allow for direct charging whilst being fed from the mains, but I haven't tried that yet.
Discovering this ability has been a huge relief to me. As I live in the UK and couldn't source an alternative PSU that didn't involved postage from the US, plus potential import duties hassle.
I have 2 Nook HD+ and here is my experience.
Both my Nook HD+ can be charged by adapters of Nook Color (1.5A output), Samsung Galaxy S (1.0A output) and Toshiba notebook USB port (0.5A output) with Nook HD+ proprietary 30-pin USB cable. Of course, it takes longer charging time with 1.0A and 0.5A adapters but definitely works.
My Nook Color can be charged by adapters of Nook HD+ (2.0A output), Samsung Galaxy S (1.0A output) and Toshiba notebook USB port (0.5A output) with Nook color original USB cable.
My Samsung Galaxy S phone can be charged by adapters of Nook HD+, Nook Color and Toshiba notebook USB port with generic micro USB cable.
My conclusion, the Nook HD+ and Nook Color can be definitely charged by any USB adapters and port. The difference is faster or slower charging time depended on the current output.

My HD+ can be charged by Nexus 4 USB power adapter but not by my iPad2 USB power adapter (both original).

As I stated earlier, it is NOT just the charger capacity that makes difference, it is the status of the data pins in the charging block that the HD/HD+ can detect that determines the charge rate. And you are right, all will charge, it is just the charge rate that varies.

On the topic of the charging cable... is everyone's charging cable as loose as mine? I just picked up an HD+ a couple days ago, and the one thing that bothers me most is that the charging cable is so loose that it is extremely difficult to use the nook while it charges - the cable will come out just enough that it stops charging (and I generally don't even notice). Is this a known issue, or should I try to exchange mine or get my cable replaced?

[Q] Can I use a 5.3 volt, 2.0 amp charger to Charge my HTC ONE?

I have an HP Touchpad at work and hate having to carry around my ONE charger and the Touchpad charger...
Anyone?
TIA!

Short answer : You should be ok to charge it from the HP charger. Note it should NOT charge any faster. I have seen some sources say that it hurts the phone, but the following resource begs to differ. Source
I personally still carry around both a phone and tablet charger, but if you're ok with only being able to charge one device at a time, you should be fine.

I use my touchpad charger for EVERYTHING. My Touchpad, Xperia U, Nook Simple Touch, Kobo Touch, iPod Touch, Raspberry Pi, the device will only draw what it needs.
i've been using the touchpad charger for everything for a couple years, battery life was great on my evo the whole time, and now im using it to charge my s4 with no problems.
so yeah, go for it!

The GMP10K from ioGear works with my HD+ (the 1A connection only; the 2.1A connection does not work). On Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/GMP10K-GearPower-Capacity-Station-Smartphones/dp/B00A35KPQQ
This battery pack charges my Nook HD+ from 1.3 A port, dunno if it will work for HD though.
I don't think it's just the battery pack, there are many 2.1A USB chargers that do not work with Nook HD+ as well. I think this is a problematic.
I have the New Trent NT120C and yeah the charging doesn't work on the 2.1A port also. However the 1A port works so I guess that's fine
RAVPower dyanamo on the go 7800 mah port 2 (worked with my nexus 7 and works with the nook hd)

I asked them on Twitter a week or so ago and they stated the 3E works with the Nook HD (+).
The tweet.
Anker works
I've had a Nook HD+ for all of 3 days, but happened to have an Anker Pro, the one that charges 12 volt devices too. It worked really well with the HD+ from the non I-Pad I-Phone charge tap. The Nook HD+ indicated immediately that it was being charged, etc.and it has enough amperage to charge the Nook while it's running.
I also happen to have a New Trent. It does not appear to work with the HD+, though I know it sometimes wouldn't show as charging my Samsung 7+ when it actually was. It also couldn't charge the Samsung Tablet while it was playing videos. It would slow the rate of battery loss, so if I was at 51%, I'd watch a movie and be at 45% instead of 30%.
The New Trent looks better and I like the size better, but the Anker has consistently simply works better. The New Trent's one advantage is that you can charge it via USB port from your laptop, the Anker forces you to carry around their AC adapter. The New Trent is great for cell phones or smaller tablets, but the Anker seems to work with everything, even my Samsung Netbook. Oddly, they're both claiming to output 2 amps at 5.1 volts, but the devices sure respond differently.
there's an offical external battery for the nook HD/HD+. it's not cheap but it works and would probably work fine for other devices too
i have similar concerns regarding the battery for the nook and have reached to nothing productive yet .. it is good that getting some sound options by the posts here

Yes, too bad we just can't use it with a normal charger or cable.
I got a shiny new Anker Astro Mini external battery (3000mAh) as a surprise gift, and it happily charges my Nook HD+

Best Rome with HP Touchstone

Hi, I have given a tablet to my mum (82) and have it running webOS as she only uses the touchstone to charge and is not good with wires usb's etc.
Most of the rom's I currently use can be finicky on the touchstone and I can't remember which cm9 or 10 used to work flawlessly.
So if anyone is currently using a touchstone and not having any problems could you please tell me what rom to try for her.
Thank you
Edit
Well the Touchstone seems to work fine with both Flintman and Milac KK data media Roms, will probably go for Milac as the home button work's and volume +/- is the same way round as webOS.

i'm still on cm9 (official nightly) and never had any problems with touchstone
(for your reference even your problem is solved already)
I'm using jcsullin's excellent kitkat 3.0 cm11 since this morning. Previously it's been the cm10.1 build from before Christmas. Various builds all the way back to cm7. Never quite at the bleeding edge, as I wait for Bluetooth and camera stability. Touchstone has always worked for me. Since I have it in an official HP cover, I always place it quite carefully in landscape on the touchstone.
Can't believe how well supported we are on this tablet - thanks to all devs for keeping it up there as a great device to use.

I too have also just installed jcsullins CM11 and it is running very nicely.
I agree, I was using JCSullins CM10.1 and now 11 and both worked perfectly with the touchstone. The most finicky part is making sure the TP is correctly centered on the TS. It doesn't seem to self center as well as the phones did.
I've been on milaqs cm11 3.0 kernel for couple weeks now. I have no problems using the touchstone charger as its my primary charger. I previously had milaqs cm10.2 running and also official cm9 with no problems charging with touchstone charger. I've used the hptp recently till it shut its self down at 2% charge. Put it on touchstone charger it showed charging and after about a minute it turn itself on and kept charging to full so it work flawlessly for me.
I too am using JCSullins CM 11 and have no problem with touchstone charging. Agree with the centering so don't use in cramped areas where it is difficult to see
or place.
