[Q] Docking mode WITHOUT genuine dock - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to make your phone go into the desk mode (clock.app) when its plugged into power/computer/cheap dock or something specific?
It already does this when plugged into a genuine dock, but there problem is its expensive and im poor, therefore dont have a genuine dock.
There is a way to add an option to your desktop in other launchers, but I'd rather it be automatic.
Thanks

Find deskhome on market.

You already have it. Open your stock Clock app and there is a Desk Clock tab. You can run it full screen too.

Just an fyi, docking is a sure fire way of wearing out your amoled pixels. Why would you want to deliberately destroy your screen?

You can use Tasker to create a profile to do this. And you can use Tasker to do so many other things too.

There is also on{X} which a fairy new app that allows you to make your phone do certain things based on conditions you set it to do

get some NFC tags, you can have tasker turn on bluetooth and launch whatever, you can then differentiate between car charging and home charging

Calibrate s-pen

Does anyone know how to calibrate the s pen? I tried drawing but it is usually 2 mm off of the tip and it keeps changing whenever I shift my hand or move the phone so it is not something that I can just adjust to.
Any help is appreciated

Simply restart your phone or flash another custom rom if the problem still exists.

Or.....Here's a Novel Idea:
You could do a search and find and purchase the great app from a xda developer that will help you calibrate the s-pen to get it exactly as you want it. The app works great for me. The "ink" flows exactly where the tip is.
It's just a thought. Or you can wait around for someone to tell you the link. The search is always faster!

Simply enable auto rotate and draw in S Memo in both portrate and landscape modes this should resolve the issue. Before I found this tip in the forum here I cleared the cache in recovery mode. The auto rotate method is easiest.

Sense TV

I haven't seen anyone talking about Sense TV so I thought I would start a conversation.
If you have not tried it out yet, DO IT!
Sense TV is awesome. It takes you through a guide to setup your TV provider (Many to choose from), you TV, cable/sattelite box, and even you AV receiver.
You tell it your favorite shows and I think it even learns your viewing behavior to suggest things that are on or are coming on soon. I can completely control everything with my TV Dish box, and AV receiver.
When you open the app it will tell you some of the shows on now or you can go to the guide. The really cool thing is you just click on the show and it changes the channel for you. So sweet!
Anyone else loving this App?
Silly but it's probably one of my favorite things. I've used it all weekend with my tvand Directv setup.

Although it's awkward getting into some other, deeper options of my surround system or cable box, if I can at all, it IS kind of awesome!
I especially love the channel guide. little icons of TV shows you can just press and be whisked away to that channel. That is really handy! If Zeebox could be updated to incorporate the IR blaster on this think, think of the possibilities!
I was amused by the addition of the it and thought "that might be cool in a few months when it's left to mature".. But its pretty damn cool now!
kudos, HTC!

My TV remote recently bit the dust and I was in the process of looking for a replacement. But....not now!!! I can't adjust sensitive TV settings such as color tweaks and stuff but, I can do all the normal functions from my phone. Even change inputs and stuff.
This app helped my out a ton for sure. Now can someone please bring me my popcorn?
This is the shirt!!! It's awesome, wish it gets full epg though for all channels

will it control the channels through a dvr while controlling the volume of a home theater receiver at the same time? very cool if so, we use a Logitech remote right now, but would be nice having a second remote so to speak

Odd. It works for me. I used it with netflix last night watching Lost(I was slow on the draw with this show). But it should work fine. Try unplugging the PC and then setting up another remote.

I can also now confirm that it does turn my xbox on and off and has navigation. Still messing around with it but it works as described above so far...
Nice!!!
Guys I work in the av field as well as home security. It can control anything that has ir if you have the orig remote. You can program the buttons with any ir code, The iphone needs a separate ir blaster and app which is like 80$. Talk about a huge bonus.
It's such a small feature, but yet so incredibly useful. I absolutely love it and have tossed my other remotes in a drawer. It did take me a minute to figure out how to browse the tv guide feature, but once I did it was my new favorite app.

Recent apps

Anyone else noticed that if you hold two fingers on any screen on the Gear you get a list of recently opened apps?
Much quicker to navigate this way sometimes.
You can also close the apps by swiping each one to the left.
Awesome tip. I didn't know that. Thanks.

Hmm ... Too bad that we can't clear the open apps.
I think we will see a lot of changes from Samsung with the gear. They rushed it to market, imho, without it being very mature. But then every new device has this issue.
I remember when people were complaining that the amount of available apps for Android paled in comparison to the iSuck devices.

Good Apps For The Gear

So, I have my Gear unlocked and all with Null_ (and have had for some time) but now that the coolness factor has worn off a little, I'm kind of wondering what exactly to do with it. I am on US AT&T so I don't have bluetooth tethering (and I'm not sure my plan would support it anyway) so I'm wondering what apps others have put on their Gear that do not require internet, are not games and are worth having?
I've got a disc golf scoring app and a few live backgrounds. Really the scoring app makes it all worth it, but what else is there? Thanks for the suggestions!
I installed a calculator, calendar and to do list.... None require the internet but make the watch much more functional.

Use Modern calculator as the developer as optimized it for our Samsung Gear
Other apps i use is Office Suite v7 and view some word docs as notes and Focus Trainr
Digital clock disc widget works well for a simple clock.
I cant wait to see this list at Christmas time. Cant wait to get my gear

I would love to know more! I am assuming this done with a rooted customer ROM? How exactly are you setup?
What I want is to run Endo on a watch. I don't mind tethering the GPS, as my phone will be in my FuelBelt. If the Gear can make that happen. I will get that!

Either way, phone or antenna. I just want a watch that will run Endo and use GPS. It seems the Gear just might do that. Seeing as how I have a Note 2, I will have to give the Gear a serious look.

I think the app IFTT (If This Then That) has a recipe to do this. I've installed the app but haven't had the time to me around with it too much yet.
Yes it does, but the success rate is less than 50% for me for some reason. I would like to think sometime soon there will be a way to do this without the Internet.
