Based on information from the PowerTutor app, the various RenderFX doesn't seem to change the LCD power usage at all.
With 50% brightness, the LCD runs at 593 mW with and without the effects.

No it does. Read in settings.

Uhm, where you got this values ?
Have you the absorption table for others % values ?
Thank you very much !

Search for the PowerTutor app in Android Market. It measures power usage from CPU, LCD, WiFi, etc. (Sorry can't post the link directly.)
Here's my power usage at varying LCD brightness:
0%: 360mW
25%: 439mW
50%: 593mW
75%: 746mW
100%: 900mW
The attachments below show different RenderFX at 50% brightness - PowerTutor shows the same power usage.
I'm using MiniCM7 2.1.6 with nAa kernel 09.

Our phones are designed in such a way that the our phone's processor will run at more speed only when it is necessary..there are many reasons main reasons being
1) More speed=more battery consumption
2) More speed=more heat generated..continuosly if the processor is running @ max speed, more heat will b generated & it may harm your phone.
So, it is always good if the phone is running at low speeds for smaller processes & if it goes to deep sleep when u lock ur phone's screen..
200 is good. I even want my note to automatically go into to deep sleep everytime I press the power key.

can i use program screen adjuster to decrese brightness?

can i use a program to decrese brightness as "screen adjuster" for more battery life or it ll affect the lcd life
I don't know about battery life, but it will decrease the burn in effect.
Sent from some place using the XDA ap.
I use an app called "screen filter" which has been around for years. It WILL NOT save your battery but it saves your eyes and your partners at night in bed and in the morning when the alarm goes of I use it daily.
Is there any way we can reduce the minimum & maximun brightness in rooted phones, by modifying the system files?
Cant you do that in cm rom?

Check the build.prop for lcd minimum brightness value. Modify using rom toolbox and check if it work for you.
I was annoyed with the brightness issue. Screen filter solved it. Thanks

Yes i know, i tried it too. but dint work for me either. i thought it was because of the ROM..

Android system battery drain is this normal?

I have changed my firmware from 10F to 10H as I heard that it is much better. I rooted it and then reset it to factory settings and I deleted some of the bloatware. I used LG gearbox and set the CPU speed to 1000mhz on two cores and used this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2048315
In additions, I installed fast dormancy toggle from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2021248
Yesterday, I used the phone with light usage such as browsing for a few minutes that's all, but still the android system was on top, I hardly used it why is this?
On the CPU it shows that it was running on 51mhz for more of the time than deep sleep, that must be the reason why the battery had been draining.
android system is more than one app, is the system it self...
Its logic why is on the top
yeh but even wen my phone was not in use how come it was hardly on deep sleep? compared to the galaxy s3 this battery is much worse as on s3 the android system is below the screen and screen is on top for usage. on the s3 when the phone isnt in use it is mostly on deep sleep.

Even in deep sleep the clock is working, the alarm, keys software...
Like when we are sleeping, heart keeps beating, etc...
That's why it's logic to be on the top

Disregard this, the guy is wrong. Your phone should be in deep sleep most of the time.
Could you please obtain "BetterBattery Stats" or a similar program to post screenshots of your kernel and partial wakelocks? This would help us figuring out what is wrong. My friend has the same phone, and Android system is on top for him too most of the time. We are still trying to find out what is going on.

He's right... Sorry, my mistake
When in deep sleep :
In first place should be "Cell standby" and after "Phone idle".
It's what I have in mine...
After 9 hours my battery drain was 1% in deep sleep.

Check the CPU Governor ,, for dual core we set it "hotplug" but about quad core I do not know .
But mainly the problem with governor ,, governor means something like profile . It controls the CPU frequency to get performance or powersave or both of them .
To change governor install any CPU app and you will find it .
Search about governor with quad core in google . Sorry my phone is dual core (Optimus 3D) .

The Governor has no influence on any app or system process holding a wakelock. The governor merely controls the way the CPU frequency is scaled depending on load conditions.

Yeah . I know
The governor controls the deepsleep which makes system off
So by the governor can enter deepsleep then the system will off .
I know what I say , I do not post things I'm not sure about them

maybe phones battery isnt calibrate. let battery get empty completely & charge it again. repeat this job several times. then use battery calibration & easy battery saver.

did you make sure your apps running don't keep your phone awake? and that the phone does go into deep sleep?
a bit off topic but my problem is that the battery has been stuck at 24% for the last 12 hrs, I've not been using the phone because the earpiece speaker is broken so waiting to get it repaired. I've tried rebooting the phone and still at 24%, I'm going to play a video until it drains the battery and do a full charge. battery info shows the phone has been on for 2 days 11hrs since last charge on standby most of the time.
battery
i charged the phone yesterday night now the battery is still on 100% with no use all day. if i open wifi or start for example an app the battery goes down like a countdown.whats the problem then?

App - Adiust contrast and back light

By The app on the or rather the settings availble in XZ basically only increases the brightness along with the back light , therefoer loosing the clarity and rich colors when in maximum ,
Here is an app which can controll it individually , indoors i like the setting 50 % on both levels to get that dark deep colors along with minimal brightness
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.ScreenDim.Full&hl=en
test ur settings and post your likings and settings config below is something intresting , the samples with the viewing angles after I have set the app to 50 - 50
Before the app with 100 % brightness check the head on screen and the side view
and then after the app enable with 50% setting and additional deep viewing angle
Edit 1 i can 100% confirm viewing angles are great than ever with 50% on both... and derpest colors.. love xz more than ever...
guess more tweaking and adjustments give better vibrancy .. share your settings...
I agree, viewing angles have increased incredibly!
My system settings are
Brightness: 100%
White balance: saturation 9.5%
colortone 0%
Screen dim settings
BRIGHTNESS:70.2%
Contrast: 94.2%

I bet that you had screen on for like 3,5h while that graph was taken.
Normal thing it is taking that much

Well, it is screen, i dont see anything wrong with the usage, actually i think its kinda good usage for the screen, but you have to tell us the screen use time, and the brightness, otherwise its looking fine with me.
thanks friends ...screen usage is 3h 48min and i have brightness low ...but i think screen 70-80% is too much ...or is normal???

You are clearly not using heavy usage apps, like facebook, whats app, viber, twitter, and so on, apps with internet usage drain more battery, browsing internet will drain battery faster, so i you used ONLY screen you will end up only 70% on screen, but with more apps to drain you'll drain the battery faster and you'll find screen usage lower, however i still find the battery graph normal.
You may be right ...thanks :good:
