You must have never had an OG droid. We had a semi-functioning HTC Sense rom back in the day.
That said it never placed calls or had data, but it was fun to look at hah.

christ another thread about this, do people not use the search function?

HTC Sense Droid 3 Rom

So I know it probably is really hard, but I was wondering if anyone has plans to make a HTC Sense rom for the droid 3. I would make it myself, but I have no idea how. I saw a video on Sense running on Droid 1 via Rom. So I know it is possible. To all the developers, it would be very popular, a lot of people like Sense.

This thread does not belong here.
I also doubt that we'll ever have a Sense rom (unless we have a very experienced dev who has worked in both Sense and Blur environments that could port it over) at least anytime soon. If we were to have one, lots of things would be broken.
i already have a iphone 4s rom with full working siri ported to the droid 3, full working cm8 and miui ics, htc sense shouldnt be that hard do you want htc sense v4.0? on ics?

I can't understand the irony here.
Was done for the MS1, I cant see why can't be done for the D3.
And altough I casnt like a lot the Sense aesthetic, is pretty evident that the sense fw is light years ahead the amateur motorola UI.
So yes would be nice to have the sense FW ported to the D3.

Wow, your a beast with roms. Sense 3.0 is good with me, anything else is icing on the cake. You should totally do it. You gonna do it? I know just by looking at this, that it will be pretty popular. Who said sense 3 ?
The OP asked about sense in general. Sense 2 is still light years more powerful and refined then the very latest motoblur.
If there's a reason because we sont see this happen is because the user base, original milestones and droids were true milestones, and come practically in the desert.
the D3 is just an average phone, sold side by side with a zillion of other phones.
Droid 3 was sold in millions of pieces, ms1 in hundreds of thousands, this surely won't happen with the D3.
And, as usual, larger user base = more developers involved = more chances to have the SW you need.
I said Sense 3.0. Got a problem with that?

Now to the OP, try IOS put, if you like it, keep it. If not, you care slate trade the 4S for an android device. Once it comes down to it, it's all preference.

I went from being an iPhone user (iPhone3GS then an iPhone4) to android and would never go back. There isn't much you can do on an iPhone in was of customization without jailbreaking, and a jailbroke ios4.0 was very unstable for me with horrible battery life. Not to sure about a jailbroke ios5 since I bailed before it was released, although my wife now has the iPhone4 with ios5 (stock) and it is fast, so I'm sure the 4s would be snappy as ever with the improved processor. I like optons, so for me android is a better experience.

i don't really get why you'd want to go the iphone route unless you're feeling a little retro today.
the main reason iphone users dont switch (from my observations) was the money spent on apps, but i've never heard of android users switching to an iphone unless it was an entry-level phone (ie: optimus one, galaxy gio)
edit:
if you're bored with your phone, you can try a different manufacturer like samsung, moto or maybe go stock with a gnex. it'll be a completely new experience.

The biggest thing for me that keeps me away from ios other than it being closed and no customization is the lack of a dedicated back button. I think its a huge thing to leave out and makes things like opening links in one app that brings up another very disorienting. I think its a huge flaw in the design of the OS. The one home button is incredibly inconvenient and clunky.

That's why I said 'it depends,' and followed it with a smiley. Some people would miss the money they spent in the market/app store. Others will only care about ideology or the OS.

Just curious where all these Roms for our Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 are?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
We have lots of them ..which "great one " are you waiting for :what:
Seems like many of the DEVs have left Sprint for Verizon and/or decided they like their Note2's better.A lot of the rest all seem to be obsessed with AOSP/AOKP/CM Roms despite the fact that it removes most of the functionality that makes this phone great.
Unfortunately the blind hatred of TouchWiz for no good reason is hurting this phone.

There are as many good roms for the Sprint version as there are for the others. Also, you guys should feel lucky that that Sprint has felt charitable enough to not lock this device down like Verizon and AT&T have as devs are indeed leaving those versions even as we speak.....

I don't even think I have seen a single Dev from either the epic touch community or gs3 go from sprint to Verizon.I've seen ATT and T-Mobile. Anyways we have many great devs in our community. And you can't expect every single one that you like to get the same phone as you. Since we don't all have upgrades at the same time. Some may have used it on a gs3 and now can't upgrade until gs5 or simply don't have the money to upgrade. We are all regular people. My guess is that by black Friday time we will have many more devs come over. This happened with the gs3. The number of Roms jumped a lot from what I remember since some people were able to get the gs3 for a penny with an upgrade.
And since when is there a blind hatred for touch wiz. Over the past two years I have seen more people prefer Touchwiz Roms over AOSP based. Easy comparison, check the number of posts and views of all aosp based Roms to that of touchwiz. And tell me which one has more. This goes for the sprint gs3 as well. From my view Touchwiz is the most stable and fully functional ROM for Samsung phones.

"stock" doesnt get ported to any nexus device, since they run "stock" default. to port sense to a nexus is extremely hard as it needs htc's framework, and if it does happen it would be partially if any bit at all. this will take lots of time and effort! and considering sense is not open source, you will not have any direct access to its code. anyways, considering that people are still trying to port the last version of sense, i wish you good luck.
I encourage all development but this might be quite difficult with closed sources and the framework. If XpLoDWilD can hack into the snap dragon processor and enable always listening from the low powered core then this is possible as well. I doubt devs of that caliber will focus on porting sense to a specific device non htc device though.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
well, you need damn good smali and hex knowledge, as you need to modify the bootstrap in a special lib and add support for s800 ://
it is possible but hard to achieve (well, last word is maybe incorrect, im sorry for that )
Best regards,
OldDroid
I doubt that you will ever see it happen. Which is too bad because of all of the different overlays Sense is by far the best. Unfortunately HTC is not particularly forthcoming with the source code for, well....anything. Having come from the Amaze (Ruby) HTC proved to be very difficult to deal with.
this would be amazing.. loved sense 6 the second I saw it.. but it would be great even if I got a kind of launcher at least. Stock android is great too
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Sense is closed source.
They are releasing blinkfeed in the playstore in the coming weeks/ months. You could easily download a sense like launcher and icons. I did play with the newest m8 at the ATT store and I can say I was very impressed. You could also make the clock widget in zooper, combine all that with blinkfeed and you have yourself an almost sense experience.

It's possible, but it would be extremely difficult and would require reverse engineering of the libs and some binaries, as well as likely needing a fully modified kernel and ramdisk. By the time it got fully stable, if it ever did, we would probably be at the release of sense 7.

Good job! I came here to link to that thread.
For anyone confused by the title, check out this post in the thread.
In my several years on XDA, I've seen a few attempts to port OEM skins (usually Sense and Touchwiz) to devices from other manufacturers. Of those attempts, exactly zero of them were successful. As much as I'd like to see this (and I would - Sense is actually pretty awesome), it's just not going to happen.

This is really cool, and I hope it ends up working. As of right now, it's only partially functional, which is about as far as most of these ports get.
Don't get me wrong - I'm pretty excited about the possibility of this. It's just that I've seen a lot of these before, and they always end up going dead after a promising start. Here's to hoping this one is different.
