Question about headphone compatibility and possible fix - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently bought a headset (Sonic Gear Nano Plug) and plugged it into my X8 directly and the X8 didn't detect it (I'm using GingerDX v22), there was an adapter that came with the headset called a PC Chat Convertor cable so I used my headphones that way, but I noticed that it took a couple times of replugging for the headphones to actually play properly as other times it would only play output on the right side of the earpieces, I found online that it could be fixed through the use of a TRRS audio adapter, just curious on whether anyone has had to deal with this problem and how did you all fix it...

Yep.. It's a pain in the ass.. TRRS is just the name of a 4 pin jack.
The problem is that some brands (mostly nokia, samsung and SE) like to reverse the pins so you have to use their headphones.. It's pathetic, i know.. I tried my sister's headphones (blackberry) and the sound is distorted, the same goes if she tries my SE ones in her phone.
There are some TRRS adapters that can reverse the pins so you can use any kind of headset on these types of phones.. I never tried them but they work..

I think your headset is the problem..
I recently bought a Sonic Gear earplug -- which I forgot what model it was -- and I also got the cable adapter which u called the PC Chat Convertor. And guess what .. not just my x8 wont detect it but my others phone as well .. I tried on my nokia c1-01, it detected it but I can only hear the music at a very low volume even though my volume is already at it max!..
But after I plugged in the PC Chat converter cable and stick in the green jack into my audio jackpot, it works like a charm on any phone ..
That thing sucks man .. and I finally bought a brand new Hibiki earplug ..

Take a time to read my previous post..
The pc adapter resolves the problem but only for listening, you cannot use the mic.
Test those buds on a phone that is not nokia/se/samsung and you will see that they will work as they should.

Had the same problem with my Skullcandy Icon 2's. Took them to a friend's, disabled the mic and now they work perfectly. It's the mic that causes all the problems, if you can disable it the headset works perfectly. No mic, ofc.

What are your thoughts. Seems like a good product. Be able to use some decent headphones for listening to those mp3z . . .
Anybody used one of these?
is the answer/mute button only for those 2 functions or is that module also acting as a microphone (don't think so)? looks good to me but i use the headset adaptor i bought from this internet site based in hong kong. check out:
http://pc-mobile.net/pxdaa.jpg (the website is http://pc-mobile.net)
it comes with a standard 2.5 mm jack for the xda. the wire is on a retractable mechanism to avoid tangling. at the other end is the stereo phone jack which serves as an answer/end button and as a microphone as well. there's a single headphone jack connected which uses a 3.5mm plug. when you want to listen to the toons using your 2-headphone set; you simply unplug the jack and insert any 3.5mm plug-based headset. in effect you can use any 3.5 headset as handsfree.
costs 26usd but services are 5-stars for me.
cheers
Anyone tried this adaptor from pc-moblie.net? The sound quality is good or bad?
i doubt that it could damage the quality so you can hear it unless you connect it to a stereo's lineIn and play it out using real speakers
those headsets are too limited imho to take much damage from a few connectors
However, all these things are not suitable for xdaII.
I bought one from pc-mobile and the quality is good. However, since the new xdaII got 2 buttons in its handsfree design, this product from pc-mobile is not fully compatible. You can hear from it but you can't pick up or end call from it as compared to xda1 you can.
I hope they can produce another product which is fully compatible with xda2. Otherwise, I may have to go for bluetooth but really worry about the battery.
Also, can I or is there anyone using the bluetooth handsfree for mp3 playing????? I doubt that very much.
I do really like the pc-mobile handsfree which is retractable and handy.
Any alternative in the market?? You got the adaptor but I think its only good for audio MP3 listening. If you attach another headsfree to the adaptor for business use (don't know whether we can...), you will have 2 buttons (one for the adaptor and one for the handsfree) which is quite funny !
Does somebody else have this problem and find a solution?
Do most people use bluetooth?
*Damn* !
Been creating a cable myself, tried it yesterdaynight late....
The damn thing didn't answer the phone when i pressed te button.
I cut the audio-out cord and trew the cable away, because i tought the mic didn't work....
Now i read this.... Guess the mic did work, but the answerbutton didn't.
Now i hope i can rewire the audio-out cabels again, so i haven't been soldering for nothing last night
Headphone adapter for HTC magic
Hello.
On the HTC magic, there isnt a 2.5 or a 3.5 headphone jack! there is only a mini USB jack. Does anyone know where i could get a mini USB jack adapter to turn it into a regular headphone jack?
Even if anybody knows what kind of mini USB jack comes on the HTC then that would be lots of help! because ive already purchased one that fit, but didnt work so it must have been a different type.
Thanks in advance!

Problem with phone calls over car aux

I hate making new threads but I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords.
I use my N1 in my car alot. It's my main source for my music and hand's free calling while driving. I use the aux jack on my stereo to the N1 for music.
When I get a call it would ring though the speakers and I would touch the slider to accept the call. The caller would hear me crystal clear and I would hear them though the speakers just fine.
Now when I get a call, they can't hear me. They say I sound like I'm far far away. I can hear them just fine. But I look like a madman in my car screaming and yelling just to be heard.
So what I have to do now, is answer the call, and touch speaker, which only plays the voice though the speaker phone. They hear me crystal clear but sound is no longer going to the car speakers.
Anybody have this problem or know what's causing it or even a push in the right direction?
I have this excact same problem.
I came from a milestone using a standard 3.5mm audio jack and calls went really well. But when i tried my nexus, i got the same response, "sounds liek your far away".
I tried a few AUX cables but they all seem to do the same thing. So my solution was a aux cable with a built in mic.
I ended up modding the headphones that came with my nexus to get this working. Removed the earbuds and soldered a 3.5mm jack.
Now when i talk using that cable with a built in mic, ppl hear me very clearly. So i've jsut been using that cable since. I'm sure you can buy a premade aux cable with a mic at any local mobile audio store. I saw one at a BestBuy mobile here.
Hope this helps.
but the issue is that at one point it DID work normal with his nexus. i think what is going on here is the phone originally read the aux input as just standard audio output. but now its reading it differently somehow, i just dont know why. its almost like the difference when a phone thinks you have headset connected vs audio out connected with no mic support. no idea on a solution though...

I was thinking on buying the Belkin one with the mic right at the aux jack.
Hope this helps.

Exactly, it DID work. I can't pin point when it happened for me. I was thinking maybe it was when I went from Eclair to Froyo?
I'm almost positive that using the phone over Aux out broken with the update to Froyo. Has anyone tried this yet with Gingerbread on the N1 or with an NS? I'm hoping they fixed this, it's a really, really frustrating problem.
My fear is that everyone at Google got free car docks so they won't ever fix it because it's never a problem for them.
I also have the exact same problem. Thought it never worked for me, I only recently sets up my car mount with aux. Anybody found a solution?

[Q] External Mic for htc hd 2

Hi there. I hope someone will help me...Basically I need dictaphone for interviews so I bought "Olympus ME-52W Noise Canceling Microphone" and I tryied to use it with my htc hd 2. Phone is showing connected headphones but mic is not working. So my question is can I use external mic with my phone or is it related with software? If someone know the answere pls help me!!!!!!! btw I use Resco audio recorder
The problem is because the connector on the mic is probably the same as a mono headphone plug. The phone thinks that you have headphones plugged in. The phone has a socket that accepts 4 pole jack plugs. That is it requires a special plug that has contacts for both left and right audio as well as for the mic.
If you really want to use the mic I would go to somewhere like radio shack or mapplins and buy a 3.5 mm 4 pole jack plug and a couple of sockets. You could then wire up your own adapter to let you use the mic and also a pair of headphones or speakers at the same time. The pin out for the plug should be easy to find on the net and so long as you can solder I wouldn't see any problems.
Other than that plugging the mic directly into the phone will defiantly not work.
shut up stupid douche

It sounds like it's the cable itself that's at fault. Assuming it's just a 3.5mm jack the phone doesn't know whether it's an AUX cable or a headphone jack, it's the same thing.
I use an AUX cable in my car and it works fine.

I also use my AUX cable every day in my car and media audio plays fine through it. OP did state he's tried different cables, I'm curious if he's tried headphones? Like you said, if headphones work there's no reason an AUX shouldn't work..
Headphones do work , AUX cables don't .. I find this equally weird like you all do .. Will take it to the service centre tomorrow .. thanks for the help guys !

If the headphones work then there is nothing wrong with the phone, the socket is fine.
Try another aux cable and check the device that you're trying to connect to is ok.
I plug external speakers to my phone regularly.
Got a new cable and it works fine .. found out both the cables didn't work with iPhone 5 either so they must be faulty .. anyway am happy again

Aux cable

Hi,
I bought tab s2 2 weeks ago.im mostly glad, but when i plug the aux cable to device sound doesnt transfer. Tablet still play music from own speaker, does not react to cable.
And i tried it on my car and my digital drum. When i plug my phone with same cable, it works perfectly.
Is there someone has the same problem, or any solution?
Is it hardware problem or just does not support aux ?
Thanks

Try Sound about on Google play
Not working too :/
My purpose of buying this, use this property. Now too bad :/
In the past I used the app toggleheadset2 from playstore to tackle such problem.
