Font folder location? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone point me where to put the font file, so it will be available under the:
>Setting>Display>Screen Display>Font style
I can actually go ahead and install font from the market, and it shows in there, but now I just want to transfer some font I have to the GNote.
I was able to go to: /system/Fonts
But, I don't think those are different fonts for the system. Because I don't see any of the fonts that I've installed in there.
Anyway, I want to manually put in some fonts in there (Wherever that folder is located), and make it show on the settings.
I also tried using the Font Installer app, but that doesn't seem to work.
I'm rooted by the way.
Thanks in advance.

You need a flip font for that. There's a thread with hundreds in the gs2 forum.

Changing fonts

Hi,
I´ve searched here and on other forums and I couldn´t find anything regarding this matter (which is weird because it sounds very basic). Does anyone know how to change fonts on the milestone? My wife just bought one and I have tried to do what I do on my Vibrant (menu-settings-display-fonts) but it doesn´t show up for here. I´m sure it´s something simple. Can anyone help out?
thanks
Rafa
The fonts are located in the folder /system/font. You can reach this folder by using adb or Root Explorer. There are different fonts for sans-serif, serif and monospaced. If you replace these fonts by font files (renamed to the same name as on your milestone, e.g. DroidSans.ttf) from your computer and reboot your phone, the fonts should be replaced.
This way (using Root Explorer) worked well on my Milestone. (;

Thanks for the response, but that is too much of a hasle for something that should be included in the stock rom (like most androids). My wife doesn't want new fonts THAT bad.

(App) font changer root

Just wanted to show this in case people haven't seen it. Works great too! Free in the market. Even worked on honeycomb!

Where can I get some fonts at?
Sent from my Nexus S
the market description says:
"Fonts are not included in the application"
http://www.dafont.com/ That's where I got mine from. Just download, unzip, and copy/move the .ttf file to the ".fontchanger" folder on the root of the sd card. Then restart the app and it'll give you examples of each font it found in that folder. Click apply. Reboot. Done. ALL fonts are changed. Even the keyboard.
re: font changer app
i have been using this for a few weeks now...awesome app. i too use dafont.com to get fonts and have become addicted to changing them (3 or 4 times a day). the one thing i have noticed is that when you change fonts 3 or 4 times in a row (trying to find the right one) the app fc's and the phone reboots. from my experience if you clear the app data in "manage apps" after flashing a new font it prevents this.
also downloaded fonts are different sizes sometimes the menu items are cut in half. if you have "spare parts" (cm7 i don't know about other roms) play with the font size to get it right.

Has anyone tried this on stock with root?
It tells me I need a rom with root access.
PS I have su and busybox installed

installing downloaded fonts

What would be the best way to install downloaded fonts from say dafont.com? If it makes a difference I am on Apex 10.1 with the mattedblues theme.

I must be missing something here, I installed the app and made the folder it asked me to and threw the fonts into the folder (and true type fonts specifically), how can I make it though so that it pops up in the list when I go to Display > fonts ? All that stays there is just the default ones that came with the rom. And then when I hit on apply it does it through the whole phone.
I was hoping that I could do is have the options of more fonts when I use an app for say minimalistic text and what not.
you shouldnt need an app. just a folder.
was the folder in /system/fonts/ from the root folder? NOT sdcard/fonts or sdcard/external_sd/sytem/fonts? BAD!
drop truetype fonts in system/fonts (root required) and reboot!

You can use Font-Installer-Root-Full_v1.0
Install and choose font! reboot => Done! (Very very beautiful font )
The legitimate way, is to make them into apps that FlipFont can read. Anything else requires overwriting the default "droidsans" fonts.
Or modding whatever system files tell the phone to look for droidsans. Even then it might cause problems since those are not digitally signed, and end user (non-dev phone) versions of Android don't run unsigned (as in not from a reputable source) apps/files.

Here is how I changed my font from stock to Roboto
1. Root your device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454112
2. download your Font onto your tab
https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/design/Roboto_Hinted_20111129.zip (roboto - ics 4.0 font)
3. install any font changer app, run, select font, BOOM delicious new font appears
Roboto is amazing. Love this font. I use it in all my apps now. Looks 100% better on 99% of interfaces (for some reason looks a bit squished in gmail)
does anyone know how to change the font of the clock in the status bar? I hate the font that Samsung is using.

if you change trough update.zip i think (CMIIW) thats dangerous but if you know that samsung default has font changer in setting but the one i dont understand is how to add more cause i had copy and paste into system/font with root exp but no luck and the font not showing on list
Just a quick update on what I have recently found is the best solution to getting Roboto on this device.
Don't use a font changing app like Font Changer or Font Installer, etc. Specifically those two don't overwrite the default fonts correctly & that's why you will see weird looking fonts sometimes (gmail app for example).
Best & Easiest Solution (requires root):
1. Download this rar file.
2. Extract the three .ttf files and copy over to your device.
3. Copy them to the system\fonts and overwrite the originals (I will give you a link to the originals).
4. If you want to go back to stock, download this file and do steps 2 & 3 again.
Anyone tried this on ICS? I did it but saw zero change

[Guide] How to Change Fonts for the ROM?

I've seen this question many times during last few days and even got a few PMs also regarding this and answering repetitively is tiresome and not so creative so thought of creating a thread specially for this, Nothing new, no rocket science but helpful, hope you find the same
Recovery Method
Download any one of the font
Goto CWM
Select Mount and storage
Mount System
Flash the downloaded File
ICS Roboto Font
Gingerbread Stock Font
Other Flashable Font files along sample can be found here
Font changer Method
Install Font Changer from play store
put the desired fonts in the folder .fontchanger created in the root of your SDcard, open the app and apply the desired font.
usually I use second method. coz its easy for any fonts. no need to search for flashable zip and original font can be backup for further use.
try rom toolbox
I think it doesnt work on ICS ROM
I see on system/fonts and few font files was linked to "roboto font",,even I change with CWM/Manual(with root explorer) it doesnt works mate
I like use SonySketch fonts

I believe what OP mean in this thread is only for MoKee OS. And also as he said, the zip file attached to be flashed is an answer of some people who ask him how to make roboto font as default font.

Is this safe ?
I wanted to ask if this is completely safe cos I've had bad experiences everytime I tried tampering with my device. Also do these methods work on gingerbread ??

As far i know this should work on any gingerbread rom, but on ics or jb you need to create metadata for changing the font as their symlinked to the rom. Cmiiw
