[Q] Roms installation based on 2.1.1.C.0? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cant install any Rom based on this firmware..is everything based firmware 2.1.1.a.47....?

If memory serves me right 2.1.1.A.47 is a W8 ROM, though the 2.1.1.C.0.0 ROM of the X8 should also work (you just lose the "Walkman" specific parts).
Anyway ... a little bit more detail about the problem you ask for would highly be appreciated. We don't possess crystal balls to read your mind.

Actually it shouldn't make a difference if you flash from 2.1.1.A.0.0 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 (X8) ...
Since you're stuck at the SE boot logo ... two questions:
1. Does your phone have baseband 015 flashed?
2. Did you do a "Full Wipe (Factory Reset)" before selecting "Reboot phone"?

2.there is no need to unroot to flash a fw from odin.
3.there is no need to remove cwm5.
4.not that much.in every fw there are new bug fixes or it mainly effect stability.it
has a very litle effect on performance.

You might have messed up something, somewhere, its common
If you do everything in the instructions box,no..If you dont,well....

1)Yep,but you just need to be a bit careful and assign the files to their respective sections.
2)No,no need to unroot,Recovery isnt an apk file to get su access ...I dont know why but i have seen many people are asking this same question around :/ Do i need to unroot before flashing this and that...
3)No,the firmware will remove it for you..When you flash another firmware,it will replace your custom recovery with the original android recovery
4)Not much,as far as i know, its just minor bug fixes

no, it is new..the seller asked me if i want the 2.3.7 or the original..
i think the 2.3.7 is better..so, he change the rom and he didn't even cost me extra charges..
so, i just have to download new ROM only ?

Hmmm..
So its very easy for u to change the roms..
Follow the following steps
1.Download the rom which u want to flash(do not download rom that require custom kernel).
2.Place then in your sd card(do not unzip them).
3.Reboot ur phone and as the screen lits up and the sony ericsson logo comes, start pressing the back key multiple times until u get in the recovery menu.
4.Now backup ur current rom for futute use.
5.Choose the option "install zip from sd card" and choose the rom.
6.Wait for it to finish the installation.
7.Choose the option "wipe data" and then reboot ur phone.
8.Now the most important step.
Press thanks button for me
If u are facing problems, PM me.
I will try 2 help u...

What this guy mean is:are there any other way to know a date code beside look at under battery because for some reason, he just cant see it.
Btw,If ur phone dont die after u do it , i guest u have manage to unlocked ur bootloader.Use s1tool to make sure of it.

Starting to customize

Hi, i bought a SE Xperia X8 last year and shortly after i updated it to 2.1. Now is taking a lot doing everything, it was slow down by the time (naturally).
I'd like to start customizing it and ofc overclock it, but before format it or flash it, i don't know if in this case is the same... computer are my thing
Well, the idea of this topic is to find some help or guide to start doing this, I'll appreciate it
The SD is only 2 GB... I hope it is sufficient.
Sorry for my English, I'm Spanish. Thanks in advance!
First off while the 2 GB Sd card should be ok id look into getting a bigger Sd card. Here is a good guide that should get you started:

which kernel?
The latest nAa-ics-04, is in the requeriments.
I flash it again and is working, with X8i_2.1.1.A.0.6_Baseband_015.ftf. But i want to install that kernel to use MiniCM9. How can i install CMW, the kernel and that rom?
I think i did it fine:
RUNNING S1_EROM VER "r8A029"
SOFTWARE AID: 0001
LOADER AID: 0001
FLASH ID: "0020/00BC"
LOADER VERSION: "R4A045"
MODEL (from GDFS): E15i
SOFTWARE VERSION: 1236-9291_2.1.1.A.0.6
CUSTOM VERSION: 1241-4077_R2B
FILESYSTEM VERSION: VFE-1-8_2.0.1.A.0.47
SERIAL NO: CB511R82AK
SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
Elapsed:18 secs.
Now i'm lost... i don't know how to install kernel and rom.
Any help please?
alright then, does the loader version showing "r" instead of "R" after unlocking bootloader? if it is then you can flash kernel using flashtool, go google it or find in the kernel thread, the kernel nAa ics has CWM installed already on it, so if you already flashed the kernel you can go to CWM by pressing back button (or tapping on the screen, i did both of that) you can flash ROM from CWM as written in the MiniCM9 Thread, tell me if there's any problem..
Thanks! Now I'm installing it... i didn't know how to enter and if its already installed in kernel.
When i have all installed and working i'll edit or respond.

In exactly this thread Chasmodo described the installation procedure very good. If I give you a step-by-step help it wouldn't be different from Chasmodo's.
And if this is too complicated or you do not have the energy or time to concentrate on it, you should stay on 4.0.4 and wait for the next official update to Jelly Bean.
As beginner who doesn't want to read you are in real danger to hard brick your device.
But maybe you don't even know the "speciality" of the N7000 with it's bricking danger.

now as u r in stock ics 4.0.4 kernel, which is unsafe, flash a safe philz kernel
why philz kernel...because
1.its safe
2.can be flashed via stocked recovery
3.it gives you root+touch based cwm recovery+safe kernel.
now the thing is philz kernel are rom specific so find right kernel for your rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
