[Q] Restore Phonebook? - LG Optimus 2x

I installed ROM of CM7
And I forgot to save the phone book
I saw in the device's files that he did not delete my files
There are still pictures movies calendar ..
I wanted to ask if there is any way to return the phone book? If he is still on the device?
And if not so the Phone book also exists in on PC SUIT
But after installing the rum is not recognizing my device software ?

Someone? Something?

If you've synced your contacts with your gmail account, then all you have to do is setting up the account in your new ROM, and let it sync.

Yup I think you're out of luck mate. Flashing doesn't touch media files like pictures and music, but your contacts are long gone.
Spending some time to sync and organize everything with your gmail account is the way to go (in my opinion). Whatever happens to your phone (flashing, losing, being stolen) you'll always have that (precious) information backed up.
EDIT: Oops, forgot to read the rest of the OP. If your contacts are backed up in PC Suite than I think you should be able to get them back (I still think you should spend sometime putting them on your gmail account though).
I've had issued before (but with a GT540, not O2X) where some ROM's made my device unrecognizable for my PC. So try a couple of ROMs, or even try to put stock ROM back in. Hope it helps.

Do you have lgpcsuite.apk installed on your phone?

No i don't have this app installed ..

Do you have a backup of your previous ROM?
If yes, do a backup of these CM7, go on the previous, sync contacts with your google account or use an app on the market to backup all the contacts, and, with CWM, install your backup of CM7 and sync via your google accounts or using the previous app...
Am I clear?

Where can I find the lgpcsuite.apk
Then I will be able to synchronize with PC SUIT?

[Q] buying captivate soon noob needs help has questions.

Rom manager, odin, abd, clockworkmod, titanium, root, cognition, samsung....so far iam alittle overwhelmed.
Hello Iam new to the site and am planning to get the samsung captivate. I joined because i wanted to ask a couple questions about the captivate and android. Firstly I have been reading about all this stuff on the developers part of the captivate part of the forum, and I feel confused about some stuff.
Firstly before I do anything with my device, is there anyway to save a copy of the stock rom that came with the phone?
How can I save everything from contacts, txt, and apps, so that if something happens to my phone i can bring that info to another device, or reflash the phone and have everything show up? I know that is what clockwork, and titanium is for but what would you recommend? and why?!
About gmail. If i use my current Gmail account and want to sync contacts can i just sync the ones on the phone to my account or do i have to use my current contact list on my gmail email account? I dont want every one of those contacts on my phone, just the ones i currently have on my e71!
Is there a way to save my txt msgs? how bout sync my calender? and alarm clock?
What is this download mode? is that the recovery mode (vol up + down+power button)? is Abd necessary to get into this mode? will i be-able use rom manager for this?
What if i cannot go into recovery mode with the phone? does the newest cognition fix that? does cognition have tw? (from what i see iam liking tw!)
I plan on using the phone for my media also: sync music with itunes and have playlist?
can i play content i download from the internet (.mkv and avi)? with or with out converting?
Well, I'll answer as many as I can.
1. You have two options here. A) Use Odin3-It will restore you to stock with uno click. (That's one click) B) You could flash Clockwork and do a Nandroid backup while you're still on stock.
2. Performing a Nandroid backup with Clockwork will backup every app and setting on your phone and it's very easy to restore if you need it. This is what I would do if I was about to flash something potentially risky with the phone. Titanium Backup will do the same and is a bit more customizable in the sense that you can pick and choose which apps or settings you want backed up. Where as Nandroid will back up everything. If you're wanting to back up texts, I recommend downloading an app from the Market to do so. There are easy to use, free ones that will get the job done. (My brother uses SMS Box and seems to like it) Your contacts will be backed up via Gmail. That's a wonderful thing about Android-don't worry about thanking Google, you did when you bought the phone.
3. When you import the contacts you have on your e71, they will automatically sync with the default Gmail account you sign into your phone with. The contacts currently on your Gmail account will also sync to your phone; however, these can be hidden in your contacts application if you want, but they are also available for things like Gtalk.
4. Answered the text question above. Your Google Calendar will sync with your phone when you sign in with your Gmail account. If you have another Gmail account that has a separate calendar you use, then you can add that account to sync with your phone's calendar. As for the alarm clock, I have no idea what you'd even sync that to.
5. Download mode and recovery mode are separate modes. I wouldn't worry about download mode unless you're going to use Odin3. ADB is not necessary for any of that, although I think it makes it easier to get into them. (personal preference) ROM Manager will get you into the Clockwork recovery mode. You'll use that to flash things such as, but not limited to: update.zips, ROMs, and boobs. This is also where you'll perform Nandroid back ups.
6. Don't worry about that. You'll get into recovery.
7. You can watch MKV and AVI files. As far as syncing iTunes goes, there are apps that will do this for you, but I recommend downloading Double Twist for your computer. The stock music player will let you create playlists.
Boy, I hope that helps you.
oh man thank you soo much. After reading your post iam confident that i will be happy with my new phone(planning to pick it up tomorrow or monday.)

[Q] Help switching ROMs

My Hero has been rooted since August, for the first couple of months after I rooted it I was flashing a new ROM everyday, just to find one I really liked.
Well for the last few months I've been using ASOP 9.7 and this theme, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833504 I've tried to flash newer versions of ASOP a few times but none of them worked for me without a ton of FC's so I finally just gave up and have been happy with the theme and 9.7 but now I want to try something new, namely one of these, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659
My question is, I want to be able to sync all my contact with my Google account and my Gmail but I DO NOT want all my apps restored, I'd like to start over fresh in the apps department. It seems like with every 2.2 ROM I've tried it automatically restores my apps but I don't want it to, how can I keep this from happening?
Your Gmail and google contacts (not phone contacts) are always synced online. Your other email (non-gmail) is not synced, unless you are using IMAP. So, once you change the ROM and login into your google account, everything's (gmail/google contacts) restored.

I'm not worried about GMail and Contacts, those restore and I want them too, I just want to know if there is a way to keep all the apps from restoring.
Go to Settings, Privacy, uncheck Back up my data.
Another option. After you flash a new rom, and you are going thru setup, on the screen where you initially sign in to google, hit menu, disable restore.

[q] did I lose a friends contacts

So I was in a bit of a rush last night while rooting and flashing cm7 on my friends hero and I forgot to make sure his contacts were synced to google, they weren't. Did I make a back up, not really.... I know, I know, stupid. I did copy all his folders over to a computer before doing anything though, but I don't think that will help. So my question is if the contacts were stored on the phone, would they be on the sd card, or are they lost from rooting and wipeing and flashing cm7. If there are no contacts showing are they gone for good or can they ber restored?
Lession relearned... backup, backup, backup.
Thanks in advanced for any help

When your friend first setup his hero he had to setup a google account. As long as he had his contacts saved at one point threw google he should be fine. "Should be "
Tell your friend to log into his google/gmail account and see if his contacts are stored. If they are then just add the account to his now rooted hero and sync. Also in the phone app if you press menu its an option to export your contacts to your sd. He sould do so. They will then be placed on the sd as a vcard. Hope this helps.

haha he had a different google log in that he used to set the phone up, such a relief.
Thanks for the help though.

[SOLVED] Sync contacts to gmail problem

i want to transfer my contacts from phone to gmail account. But although it's 'sync on' @my O 2x, it syncs everything except the contacts. I'm using fr19. Any idea how to solve this?
thanks.
Sync on doesn't mean all options are, if you tap on the account you'll get a breakdown of what's available.
Yes, everything is checked. I even pressed the sync button. But still when i open gmail from PC, all my contacts aren't there. Only the starred contaacts. Is that what the star is all about?
EDIT: the only contacts that i have in PC's gmail are the ones i sent emails to. Other than that, no contacts are sync from phone to gmail.com
might be worth checking at http://www.google.com/contacts instead of GMail, but I shouldn't think it's any different.
Starred contacts are exactly that, contacts you've starred. Fire up the contacts list and tap a contact... top right will be a star.
or maybe because i'm using LG's gmail app? still can't sync to gmail contacts.

When you make a new phone contact it defaults to an LG PC Suite contact. These wont sync with your Gmail account.
You will need to recreate them and select your gmail acc instead of the above and then they will sync with gmail on the web etc.
Absolute pain in the backside I'm afraid but don't think there is another option
If you have to change them all into google contacts from lg suite contacts (if that's your problem) then I found using my phone explore (app and PC software) quite easy.
I exported all my contacts to a csv file and then converted them so google contacts could read them and then imported into google contacts.
Seems quite long winded but seemed quicker to me than copying each contact.

thanks.. i use the app u mentioned and i can sync with gmail contacts. But only problem is for every entry i have two details, one is from gmail contacts and the one is pc suite. So, i stop sync gmail contacts. But i upload all my LG contacts using myphonexplorer. At least now if i want to change to another android phone the contacts are still there.
Well if you have all your contacts in google then just use my phone explorer to delete them off the phone so you are left with just google contacts. Bit risky if you missed one but if you keep an original file with them all in.
This way if you update contacts then they will be auto saved and backed up with google incase something happens to your phone before you have chance to back up your contacts.
Is there any benefit of one method over another? I mean, besides the obvious that Gmail contacts can be sync directly with the phone? Maybe LG's version is same advantage over gmail's?
I just prefer google contacts as i know they are saved 'in the cloud' and if i ever change my phone i know they will work (as ill be sticking with android). Also, if my phone dies on me i know they will have been backed up almost instantly after i updated/changed a contact.
Also I can access my contacts from anywhere if i havent got my phone with me or my phone has run out of battery life. But that is completely personal opinions.

[Q] How to restore joined contacts?

Hi all..
I've tried searching for answers to my question for ages and its a no-go so i'm posting it here.
So here's my problem. My contacts are synced on google (not phone or sim) and their names are not the same as in facebook. When I sign in to facebook, as usual we're given 3 choices:
- Sync All
- Sync with existing contacts
- Remove facebook data
If i choose the 2nd (sync with existing contacts), only a few gets synced as not all of my contact's names are the same on my phone and on facebook. So i choose Sync All, and then manually join the contacts.
I'm on Darky's 10.2, and on TiBu what system app should I backup the data so the contacts i joined manually are retained when I flash a new rom with a full wipe? If i just flash a new rom everything disappears even after i've signed in to google and synced all my contacts. All their pictures are gone.
BTW I dont use the samsung's built in SNS account and have even deleted them off my phone.
Should I backup the contacts application? I've been trying many things and all dont seem to work. I just dont know which system app data to backup.. Its a pain to rejoin each and every contact after every reflash (which I do a lot)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Titanium backup. It might be the greatest app for android. I have backed up with titanium then a full reset and full wipe flash then restore with titanium and it is as if nothing even happened. I have ran in to the issue with using a different Rom then the backup and restoring the system data can screw things up. So I just go into titanium and choose only my contacts, wifi and Bluetooth parings.

You've quoted a over year hold post, chances are that you won't be getting a answer from him eh.
Restoring a system app is ALWAYS a bad idea, so don't go for that option. I never looked for a option myself but there should be a way to manually backup your current contacts (with pictures and everything) to google.
