Hi, I have my Sgsn since October 2011 and in the last three weeks the screen randomly keeps flickering.the image has an interference like frome radio waves but this happens randomly ( es: with wifi on, with wifi off, with data active and also in airplane mode). I really don't know what to think, coul it be due to Voodoo color setting?
I also went to the reseller where I bought it to ask the replacement of the screen but he said to me that this problem is not covered by warranty. Is it true? WHere can i send my phone to get the screen replaced?
Has anyone faced the same problem?

My Tilt was working fine while I was listening to music over my bluetooth headset. Suddenly the display went black and I am not able to get it back. I cant even see the startup screen with the AT&T logo. The phone is working perfectly fine and I am able to play music, send and receive call and connect it to my PC and see the display on my computer through MyMobiler. One thing I noticed is that I can see very very feeble display on my screen without any colors. I ordered a replacement screen and placed it on my own but still the same behavior. I cant go to AT&T as it got an unlocked phone and have voided the warranty since I opened it to replace the screen.
Any help or guidance from experts of this forums would be really appreciated.

You probably tried this already, but just incase....but did you try to turn up the backlight setting (Settings->System->Backlight) and see if that made any difference?

I tried it already but it dint help. Also the display setting take effect only once yo phone has crossed the startup screen. Dont know why I am not getting any display even on the very first startup screen.

Me and another guy are going through the same thing. So far, no answer has been found to our problem. I also bought this phone thinking all it needed was a new screen, come to find out after I replaced it that it was doing the same thing. It seems like this problem only effects a very small percentage of Kaiser users.

my Xperia restarts automatically
sometimes there is 30% to 40% charging left still its shut automatically and never been start.. i have to change new battery
any solution for this or anyway to find the problem?

I'm having a similar problem...my x1 sometimes shuts down while in the middle of doing something, like opening apps, sliding out the keyboard or even navigating touchflo. I suspect it could be a battery problem, as someone in the forum discovered, having also shut down problems, that his battery is loose and the connectors are not properly met so he stuck a bit of hard paper to fix it, but I checked mine and the battery is not loose. I don't want to spend on a new battery if these shut downs weren't really cause by faulty batteries, so yeah anyone has a clearer understanding on this?

I am also having a similar problem the past 2 days and as of now i cant use the qwerty keyboard because just as i begin to slide the qwerty out the screen goes black and the phone need to be rebooted.
I have just changed to Valkyrie 2.4 yesterday thinking that maybe its was software problem with Touch X but the problem still persists. Only difference is that with Touch X the phone would reboot itself.
Anyone else having any similar issues and what would the fix be, or shall i be off to my nearest service provider for repairs?

Uhm.. about that problem when you slide it out and the device turns off.. i had that too and i send it in to repair.. it will probably be fixed under warranty, and stock rom or custom rom doesnt matter the problem was still there... and it happend to me 5 days ago..

'When i slide the thing out it sometimes restarts'
I used to have that with the stock ROM so this all might be more software related...
yeah I am having the same problem, No Water Damage btw. i found that if i sometimes in portrait mode if pressure is applied to the top right region, it will shutdown and/or restart. When I slide my screen up to landscape mode it screen is just black. I'm going to contact Sony Ericsson to see what they have to say about this.

It resets when the phone freezes. Sometimes it freezes so bad you have to manual reset.
My phone is doing the same thing but when i slide it up. The screen goes blank and then it restarts by itself. I never flashed my phone so I thought it was a firmware issue. I finally updated to the R3A firmware and lo and behold the same results, but instead it didn't restart, it just turned off or the screen goes blank. I've sent the phone to Sony Ericsson and they told me that I would have my phone back in 7 to 10 business days, but they're liars!!! It's been 13 business days and counting and no word as to whether the phone can be fixed or updates on status other than it's in "work in process". So then I called again today and complained to SE and the result is that they are "awaiting parts and Xperia parts are on back-order". After further probing SE told me that they would call me on Monday to officially let me know what the hell is going and why it's taking so long to repair my phone. I paid $800 usd for the phone and I would expect that their repair service would be a lot better and quicker than what it is! During my wait time for my phone, my PS3 broke down, I sent it in, got it fixed and returned already. That was within a week. There is definitely something wrong I tell you! They just need to send me a new phone!
Sorry about my rant guys, but I'm pissed!!!
My damn phone has the same issue, Until now, this hasn't been repaired for it's crack. And I'm almost out of warranty days, I think I bought it 2md day after the xperia was released. I'll try testing abou the presuure point though. I give you update

I was noticing that my screen flickers some times.. I have seen in other phone sections.. people with AMOLED usually has this issue. but I have seen anybody discussing about SGS here.. Am I the only one?
I usually keep my phone at 0 brightness, It only happens time to time.. It flickers like old CRT monitor, sometimes its way too much and its usually visible on white screen.
I really dont wanna take it to a service center here in India as they will usually try to repair it. Never gonna give a replacement anyways.
Is there anyone else who faced similar issue and has got replacement? or does most of SGS users have faced similar flickering?

There was a thread from a guy that went to service because of that, and I think they've eventually changed the screen and then the flickering was gone.

I thought I was the only one.. Did they repair it or changed the phone? I purchased this phone at full price without any contract as thats what we get here in India.. Its really bad to see screen flickering at times.. and worry's me
Hi, I have a problem in my z3c, when I talk, screen doesnt go off. Also when I put brightness on auto, it stays the same all the time.

I also have the Ambient light sensor issue. The proximity sensor also fails.
The first time it happened, I tried (in last resort) a Factory reset, and both worked again.
But I'm not going to perform a factory reset every time these sensors stop working...
Help!
EDIT: I went back to the shop and they took it for repair. They declared a motherboard issue. In the end they gave me a new one.

Hi and sorry to ressurrect an old thread - I'm facing the same issue.
When trying to do the service check I get the same message as this video:
I removed the screen protector and the issue continues - anyone know what could be wrong?
Really hoping I won't need help from Sony as they were not helpful at all with my last query.

My Xperia was in a serious bootloop that I couldn't fix, not with pc companion not with flashtool flashing stock roms. So I gave up and sent it to the closest Sony Mobile certified repair store, it took them one month to tell me they couldn't fix it, they said they opened it, changed the battery and it still had the same problem so they also gave up and gave it to me, they did say the problem could be the motherboard. I'm now living in Brazil and getting a motherboard for the c6602 is impossible first of all because the phone was never commercialized here (and importing is impossible, it'd take 2.5 months and they'd charge me 200% of the part price, unfortunately that's how Brazil works ). Something interesting that happened is that when I got my phone back they had solved the bootloop issue but they created another issue, the phone starts makes all the sounds the screen turns on BUT all you can see in the screen is the black color, so the backlight is on but nothing shows up.
Could I be able to fix this via software? or the only option is changing the motherboard (or maybe fixing something on it)?
If any of you knows how to fix this I'd appreciate an answer.

Because I sent it to sony and they said the problem was the motherboard and the problems the phone's been giving are pretty random, for example at the beginning the problem was that it had random reboot each one with more frequency, it when from that to just work with the ac adapter connected, it went from that to a bootloop of just showing the sony logo and restarting, after I got it from sony the problem is that it boots app (without needing to be connected) it makes all the sounds like it was working perfectly but the screen is ON but black. So because all this I'm convinced it's the motherboard.
I see changing the battery didn't fix your problem.
I think it's so sad that this phone with just more than a year of life are getting this serious problems and sony isn't doing **** to help us. They keps my phone 1 month just to tell me that it couldn't get fixed, they said they changed the battery and all but still the same problem. I've reached a point when I just don't trust sony anymore, I'm getting a galaxy s4 on monday but still I wanna fix this crappy-phone.
Well, in my case it happened out of nowhere, I wasn't doing anything special with the phone..., I'm thinking maybe restoring the TA partition would fix something? I don't know... I found the motherboard for 80 euros in aliexpress
