Lol, it's simple: noone cares about v20B anymore cause everybody who wants to have a rooted system, simply flashes redy's or other repacks of my howsoever-rooted version and is happy with it. Why aren't you, too?
U always moarn about the root... IT happend, I WAS LUCKY, maybe I am just a LG developer... however, take it as it is, anyone will soon bring out a rooting method, by another exploit and everybody will life happily ever after
Hope anybody can confirm that root was possible then

Why downgrade? what about flashing rooted v20n immediately?
because rooted v20N is not in KDZ format but in backup version of CWM or in zip version.
So CWM is mandatory to flash rooted v20N.
And Root is mandatory to install CWM !

My package is still having completed LG app, so it still having "bloatware". Or you can use any other repackage based from mine that already removed that things. The reason of V20B still having bloatware, is because it hasn't rooted yet. And to remove any bloatware is mandatory to have it rooted.

hey no expert here but i will have to agree as th only way to root v21b for o3d was to make hybrids of it with v21a and if you consider the fact that we have more devs and more time with the fw in our hands i'd say it is a hybrid of all the gb versions (leaked etc). of course this is not bad as long as you have a working rom with the latest features, but admitting to it won't hurt. you'd still get the thanks meter up...
There is a very simple way to check: get the md5sum of all files from the backup nooby made and compare to the md5sum of the files from V20N. Case closed.
NO~ This thread won't be closed until the root of V20B is rolled out.

And since you brought up the subject of this thread, how is the title "I think LG has the best&superior programmers which are invincible !" in any way related to the rooting of V20B? Couldn't you have picked a better title?

Well then, it's simple, DON'T USE IT!
You are free to make decision about what you used in your own device...
Hi
i just bought my phone month ago and i really want to root the device and use different roms
i observed that many here did that
does really rooting void the warranty and if is true ? can i do unroot for warranty
also does rooting has a relation to battery life impovement or it is the roms
my battery life is not good
i even bought an extendable 4300 battery from china and still bad it is just "the 4300 one " stood for 23h with light use
thanks in advance
NB : sorry for the bad english
Rooting can void it, but is undetectable if you reinstall the firmware which will remove it. Unlocking the bootloader to install ROM/kernel however cannot be reversed, but is undetectable if you revert to ICS. Rooting itself will do nothing for battery its the changes you make with this access, whether that be a new ROM, kernel, or simpler things like changing clock speeds with tegra overclock or similar

What does it mean that unlocking bootloader can be undectable after changing ROM to ICS?

Because the ICS ROM was never made for bootloader unlock, so it will be locked in ICS, but if you flash JB again it will already be unlocked
Sent from my rooted P880
So, after unlocking bootloader and (in case of some damage) changing ROM to ICS mean I can still use my varranty? Or not?
It depends. LG can still tell if you have unlocked, unless you really think they are that stupid.

Yep, all they would have to do is update it to JB or even just look in sys/firmware/fuse/odm_reserved for changes. If they care they will find out

I have yet to find out how it would be possible to damage a device while using custom roms or rooting it. Unless someone is really stupid to do something dumb, there is no risk whatsoever.
Once you root it though, I believe its over with the warranty.

It all depends where you are. The company cannot, certainly under UK consumer law, refuse to fix a hardware fault just because you have rooted your phone or unlocked the bootloader. They can, however, if they can show that you have caused the damage by over-clocking the CPU or playing around with the voltage settings.

They could still see the difference. Fuses are written only once, so if the fuse is not the same as the original code well...
If it looks anything like mine:

I think they don't even checking that.. :d
Cmon you would have to be very unlucky to have warranty refused when something breaks and you want to have it repaired just use relock unlock method, seriously doubt they will be checking fuses, and even if they have checked would they refuse repair

Untrue. You can install alternate firmware - we had that ability on the 4X without an unlocked bootloader. What you can't do is install a custom kernel.
Unless they specifically state that they will support warranty claims with an unlocked bootloader then this is worthless anyway.

They are development threads made by xda users and are not based on Sony FW
He is asking for a prototype FW from sony, its an initial release of FW for journalistic and testing purposes. It is never released publicily, but there have been leaks in the past (Notably the first Sony JB release was leaked)
I do believe it only works on what are known as "Brown" Devices. i.e not for public sale

Still, original android development roms are not protytype firmware
They are not even firmware (FTF files) but flashable, rooted and heavily modified .zips and nothing to do with official/unofficial releases from Sony
Why Sony is so damn restricted..
Every company has FW they don't release
You will find Sony is actually the most dev friendly OEM there is. That is why they have been voted XDA OEM of the year for the past 3 (Or maybe 4) years.
They are the only company that actively works with devs on xda

True, but that is a user problem, the stock releases have no problem. Its only a problem if you want to "mess" with the phone (Like we all do) then we do so with the caveat that we are messing with a stable system and we may make it unstable in some ways.
That's the fun and the joy in the journey
PS, unlocking the boot does not give you new firmwares. FW are official releases from sony. Custom roms are made by non sony developers and are not official

I agree 100% but Sony do not own Android, even if it is a part of a stable product we messing around with Android and we testing they product. They should be grateful for that. They also learning from us so why don't give the right support to the customers.
We are not testing their product, they do it themselves, they are aware that there is a lot of android users that choose android in order to have more control but a lot of software on the phone is their intellectual property and they have every right to protect it.

No, there will not be root. The security holes have been plugged. The tools used to modify the phones have been blocked.
If you installed a recent over-the-air update, you are out of luck - no recovery, no flashing, no rooting. Period. End of story. Done.

Sorry, I am new to rooting with many of my phones and I am getting very frustrated at how many developers patch the root. I used to think Android was friendlier for root than iOS is for jailbreaking, don't think so anymore.
Is there a root friendly list of phones new you have on this forum up-to-date?
Sort of hard to buy a phone requesting from the seller to have the "right version" on it. Ex.) blu phone prior to v6.6.

+1, i have a OnePlus for that, friendly root, Pure Android (OOS or Custom) :highfive:
Netflix is on my computer or tv, not my Smartphone
They should make something that we could access remotely to update this. Like, c'mon, we are in 2018 they don't our phone in their hands to update it.
So is this done on the hardware level so that it sticks for factory resets and custom ROMs? You know, like official LineageOS 15.1 released today? :fingers-crossed:
And I noticed a few others mentioning locked bootloaders... I don't care if I have to wipe and relock it to have it serviced but will I still get L1 if I unlock and TWRP it again?

This update will survive wipes, and can surely be used for OOS based ROMs, OnePlus told me that rooting, unlocking the bootloader will not break the update again and that it is going to stick when on custom ROMs (they haven't guaranteed it tho). The reason why we, users cannot do the update ourselves, is because of Googles requirements - the executing PC must be authenticated to to generate special keys, which are unique to each and every device. It is inconvenient, but it's the only way OP can execute the update.
