[Q] random reboots and no service on ics i9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello,
I'm trying to flash ics on my friend's sgs i9000(2.3.3), but some probs occured.
I flashed the rc3.1 aosc icssgs rom (tried cm9 teamhacksung too) and it worked great for about 30 mins and then a random reboot occured. since then they occured randomly when i turned off screen, turned it on, or even just on idle...
I also had no service which i didn't know how to fix (tried different modem it worked but not for long). i'm in israel.
Eventually I odin flashed the stock orange rom back and semaphore 2.1.1 gb kernel in order to to do a nandroid restore.
well I wanted to ask if any of these might happen on the doc's master ics rom v3.1.
and how do I restore the service (on my defy i have the defy baseband switcher) as the service menues don't apear to work on these ics build(is there any way of preserving the baseband/modem from the stock rom?)

Hi,your SGS has the original IMEI?
Try flashing this Stock rom I9000XXJVU 2.3.6 with Odin.
The Guide:w.w.w.theandroidsoul(.)com/xxjvu/
and flash this kernel. Here is the guide for this.
w.w.w.theandroidsoul(.)com/root-xxjvu-firmware/
After this go to recovery and flash the RC3.1 or the newer RC4.1.

[Q] soft bricked tab u.u

My problem is that i flash my tab but, when it boots the os, vibrates once, and then three times (like an app crash, i think)
I change the kernel, then the rom. THEN, i wanted to go back to stock and flashed stock over the other kernel, and other rom.
Now i turn it on, and hangs on the samsung screen, and gives app error.
Right now, i'm downloading the previous rom, 'cause i think i have to flash that rom and then use heimdall to flash the stock kernel.
Any ideas ?
KERNEL: HumberOS 05052011
ROM: HumberOS 1.2.5 i think
SGT P1000L
I just want to flash cf root to flash overcome
Thanks in advance !
Overcome kernel isnt compatible with latin tabs. Get a stock rom for your tab and flash it with repartition. Basically follow instructions on flashing that stock rom. Make sure your tab is fully charged.
check this thread , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
THANKS !
DarkPal: Yes ! you are right ! But i never flash that kernel ! I've flashed HumberOS Kernel, wich is compatible with my tab model.
I just refered Overcome 'cause the same developer of HumberOS ported CF Root Kernel (Gingerbread) to P1000L and N, and he tried Overcome and CM7 and he get them runnin' on a latin tab.
I've flashed my tab one, two, three times with repartition. But it's still getting app crash when it boot the OS.
:/
k0sh: I read your guide before posting here, my friend. That's why i know that my tab is only Soft bricked. But i have flashed my tab (with ODIN and the stock ROM for my tab model) a thousand times. I don't work.
Both: Well, the previous ROM (HumberOS 1.2.5 it's a .zip for Cw... if i only can flash a kernel with Cw...)
Maybe i'm just give a try to Heimdall.
Thanks !
Solved
I just flash a stock 2.3 ROM and my tab boots finally (ona complete week turned off D, then CF-root, and now i'm flashing Overcome Hermes... just waiting the initial boot !!!!!!
Thanks a lot !!!!!

[Q] Boot screen 'corrupt'

Since I installed a version of Darky's ROM a while back, my boot screen has always been corrupt. I get the Samsung Logo, then the screen becomes all pixellated for a few seconds. The phone then boots as normal and works fine.
Now I want to have a go at an ICS ROM, but when I boot into recovery mode, I have the same problem. The text is all corrupt and I cant read any of the options.
Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?
Thanks
Have you tried just going to download and flashing stock rom using ODIN?
As buttwad said, flashing stock rom via ODIN is only solution...
i too faced this problem after darky's rom..
i flashed stock gingerbread via odin and now flashed Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3 RC1..

Downgrading back to gingerbread from ICS

Ok, so for the last few days I've been wanting to downgrade back to gingerbread from an ICS ROM. I ran into a few problems with the phone booting into recovery every time and then giving me errors about being unable to mount certain paths.
So I flashed CM7 which worked fine, but in the end I wanted to flash back to a stock rom.
Just a quick tip for those that would like to go back to a stock ROM but are getting these errors: flash a stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 from Download mode and when it attempts to reboot, force it back into Download mode again and re-flash the same rom once again.
This fixed my issues so I thought I'd share it
why would you go back to stock rom i heard its slow etc
Pretty sure that's bad advice. You should flash back to gingerbread through ODIN (pit and repartition) because the file systems and partitions are completely different in CM.
I.e. Flash stock GB (odin + repartition), boot, flash kernel (odin) then flash custom ROM (in CWM)
Yeah your supposed to flash back to GB using odin not the recovery.

This is the best and cleanest way to do it.

viber
im going back to gingerbread becouse viber dont work on dark knight 2.1 any solusions?
Ahh my mistake, I realise now that I wrote recovery instead of "download". But the gist of the post is to use download mode to flash the original firmware twice (If you followed the link, you would see instructions to flash via Odin).
I think any ggb base rom viber is working. Flashing back to stock rom just for viber is a bit too much. There is lots of nice and fast ggb base custom rom around

This worked for me.. thankyou!
I reverted back to Gingerbread because of the battery drain from playing mp3's on ICS. Have tried OneCosmic's and TeamHacksung's with several different kernels and none spared my battery.
Everything was on default for the testing phase and my battery was empty after 4 hours of playing mp3's.. yeah, I travel long distances in the train for work.
So unfortunately back to Gingerbread but my battery life is back to normal
Since last viber update it is working on 4.0.3

[Q] Stuck in Bootling loop after installing ROM?

Hi all,,
Little bit worried here, I've just flashed RocketRom v7, and while everything was successful, I kept receiving reboots. It would go to the setup wizard, then after every page it would reboot, and now that I've managed to get into the homescreen, it reboots every 30 seconds now, not allowing me to connect to wifi or do ANYTHING :/
Any ideas?
I came from Rooted GB with Speedmod GB kernel.
Followed everything in this method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BaWcZe51Ew&feature=plcp
Thanks!
Don't know what the cause of the problem is.
Flash stock gb rom with pc odin.
Do not select PIT or Bootloaders or repartition.
Flash normally. If it gets stuck in bootloop factory reset from the recovery.
Go back to stock lp3 GB rom via pc odin...root it and install cwm...flash redpill recovery..do all 3 wipes...and flash the rom..it should work..chk the videos in my sig for further assistance
Where can I find these Stock ROMs? I can only find the stock rooted ROMs, which don't seem to allow me to go past the green android at setup when flashing a rooted version of gb?

Its KL3....not LP3...
I ended up giving up and reverting back to stock 2.3.6 and flashed the Speedmod GB kernel ... all I wanted was RocketRom v7 working and I couldn't even get that done T_T
Thanks anyway

[Q][SOLVED] How do I flash an other JB ROM if my phone only lets me download mode?

Hi, yes, this is Dog.
No, seriously, today I tried to flash semaphore kernel 2.2 (JB) to my Jelly Bean Port Rom , wich came with Devil's kernel. When the instalation finished the phone rebooted and now it gets stuck with the Semaphore's kernel screen.
Recovery doesn't work.
Download mode DOES work.
I don't know too much about bootloaders and deeper stuff.
So, what shall I do? I just downloaded Tsunami's AOKP JB ROM, but its a .zip and Odin only allows .tar.. And I dont have a nand backup with JB (i have it with ICS)
Help me! please!
SOLVED: Flashed Devil's kernel back with Odin. Then reflashed the rom with CWM.
