What tips do you guys have after purchasing the Note? e.g. Apps? Synching information from your old phone to your new? Apps to store all social networking information? (Instead of using Samsung Hub, Or other Hubs) Settings to change?
My personal question however is how do you get spell check to come up when you type an incorrect word? Nothing actually shows up it seems compared to my HTC Desire HD keypad entry it seems slightly more dumber, the comma isn't immediately accessible, if I go into any other section and hit space instead of reverting back to letters it stays on characters/numbers. It doesn't have auto correct enabled.
You should try GOKeyboard

Hi all. I upgraded to an HTC One and I need to get my Notes (over 200) to my new phone.
I have the regular "Notes" app that came with a stock 2.3.6 rom I upgraded it too, but I remember the old iterations also having that exact same "Notes" app. I was exporting them one by one to my PC. But figured there should be a better way. I know most backup programs simply don't backup notes.
I also know there's a way to do it via ES-File Explorer with root access, which my phone has. But I don't know what's next. I tried to search the forums and could find much of help.
Thank you very much in advance.

I'm not kidding and these are the proper forums. Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting. The phone I need to save my notes from is a Samsung Galaxy S i9000b. What other forums should I be looking in, androidforums?
Unhelpful and plain jerky people like you are the only problem about being a newbie anywhere. It drives potentially valuable users away from nice and healthy online communities. Seen it quite a bit elsewhere.
Can some moderator or kind user have the amiability to at least point me in the direction where I could fool myself with a vague hope of getting any help, please?
I wouldn't be asking if I could on my own.

Thank you very much for your reply. I've been using Titanium Backup for quite a while as well, but mostly for uninstalling unneeded apps. I don't think the new Notes app is compatible with the old one, so I don't know of how much use would force-copying program's memory file (looks like a single one, unless I don't even know where to look) with Titanium Bk be.
I was thinking of maybe an app that converts those notes to some other or more usable format. Even better if it upgrades them to some other Notes program file. Uploading those notes online wherever could also work. Or perhaps a way to manage those from Kies. If I knew it would had come to this, I would had used any note app from the very beginning...

actually i been using 'those' notes(if ur talking about firmware notes app) app before (1 years ago) n know how hard it is to juz backup all ur notes
so i change my notes app (download any from gstores) that suitable for any version of android n one can backup all in on click
n start copying again 1 by 1 (really takes my time) so... i m sorry but i dont have any method other that as i dont even know why is it that hard juz to copy a mere notes i listed (d**n samsung app)

Try copying your notes to Colornote, sync the notes through, copy them back.

The copying the notes part is the one I'm trying to avoid. I did downloaded Colornote and it does looks really sweet.
But I checked and I have 211 notes to copy and would hate to have to do it one by one. So far, the best I've got is a smm file from Kies with all my notes in it. However, I haven't been able to find a single way to open this file in Windows, change its extension or how to export it to any app in Android.

Okay, I digged around settings and stuff for a bit, and under Settings -> Wireles and Network -> Synchronise there is an option to create a profile to sync memos (assumingly the stock memo app obviously). Haven't found this feature until now, so you could try play around with it?

Hey, that actually did helped! Didn't found that option you are telling me about, but found a way to Sync the Notes in the phone with those in Outlook via Samsung Kies (using latest Kies version, 2.5.3.13043_14).
Once that is done, it's pretty much problem solved.
What would come next is to put them online (can be done with Google or several other apps; I used Evernote, as my HTC came with it) and download them to the new phone. Anyone else needing additional details now, in a couple months, or a few years from now, please feel free to send me a PM.
Hi all,
First thread and did not see anyone with a similar problem like I have.
I have a black HTC One 32GB. I am coming to this phone after 6 years with the iPhone...so please be gentle.
What I really liked about the iPhone was how uncluttered the software was. Before coming to the One, I was with the S4 and I HATED it. Crappy software IMHO. But the HTC One is a fresh Android experience. Excellent software and I am glad Apple is not the only company we can go to when we need premium software and hardware.
But one thing really bugs me though. The HTC Sync Manager on the Mac. I plan to stick to the Mac for some time an this means I plan to stick to iTunes to manage my music. But I have found the HTC Sync Manager to be really crappy to sync music to my phone. It crashes frequently and before it does this...it runs through the CPU like crazy...continually uses 100 - 140% CPU sending my Macbook's fans into a tizzy. Does anyone have the same problem? Solution?
Note that I have tried the other so called sync programs on the Play store...iSyncr, Double Twist...all of them are absolute crap. Never could get them working consistently. I want to commit to using the HTC Sync Manager.
My GF used isyncr and it worked great on her sgs3.
She uses Htc sync on her mac and it also works flawlessly.
Try uninstalling it and installing the file the comes with the phone when you plug it in. Good luck.

Mine does not run so well either with my Macbook Pro. Tried using the HTC sync and also had that good old spinning wheel popping up
This worked a bit better..
http://asia.cnet.com/this-guide-will-help-you-use-android-with-a-mac-62221359.htm
I also couldn't get any of the software crap to work except for airdroid with doubletwist. Doubletwist is a crappy app but when you install airdroid in your phone and use the WiFi syncing it works great. Most android mac software is crap and it's a shame. It would be ideal to have a premium phone work with a premium computer

The phone is absolutely fantastic...but over the last two weeks...I am getting really frustrated trying to get music to sync on my phone...I have not tried Google music manager because i dont like my music on the cloud and i find it cumbersome to sync music in this way...God..there is always something is it not!
Why sync it? It's just as easy to copy the files into the filesystem. Android isnt like iPhone, you can get into all your files on a computer.

I like to 'sync' playlists and not 'copy' songs...there is a subtle difference here I guess. That is the reason I much prefer a syncing solution.
Coming to photos, I have a set of folders (nested) containing all the pictures I would like to see on my phone. But the sync manager disregards all the nested pictures and throws them into one large, disorganised folder. Anybody know of a workaround ? How are the Mac users syncing picures o the One ?

Hi friends,
My G Note is running on Ultimate JB ROM v6 i.e. XXLT4.

can anyone help me to remove following apps, how to?
dropbox, group play, local & navigation (g map stuff), mini diary, paper artist, play music, S planner (a normal calender would do), S voice, samsung apps, video hub, yahoo finance, yahoo news.

I agree, Titanium backup is the easiest way.
You can also use a root explorer and go to system/app and delete the apps you dont want. Just remember to make sure that the apps you delete are actual bloatware.
Anyone know how the stock browser bookmarks are stored in kitkat? The old method of finding a bookmark file in /data/data... to make the offending bookmarks editable won't work (no such file there).

Thanks for that! I've changed those bookmarks to editable but it looks as though I have to clear the data in the Internet app in order to make the bookmarks deletable. That will wipe out all my other bookmarks. Any idea how to back them up so I don't have to recreate them all again? I tried a couple apps but they failed. Not sure how to do it in Titanium. And where are the user created bookmarks stored?
By the way, why have they made it so difficult to import or export bookmarks? It's not rocket science. Every pc browser allows you to do this. I have spent way too much time recreating bookmarks in android. Not knowing the reason for this it seems completely brain dead to me.

I believe they are backed up in your Samsung account. Mine always reappear when I flash a new Rom. They came over from my Note 3 as well.

Thanks again for responding. Nope cause I don't use Samsung account for backup.
Anyone know where the user created bookmarks are stored locally or another non cloud way of backup and restore of bookmarks?
