[Q] How to get S-off for N1 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I am newbie, my N1 get unlocked but still S-ON thus I cannot flash blackrose into hboot. I want to ask how can I get S-OFF? Here's what I see in my bootloader
*** UNLOCKED ***
NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.35.0017
MICROP-0b15
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0103
RADIO-5.12.00.08

If you just flash blackrose hboot, then there is no need of having S-OFF. I don't think flashing blackrose even requires your bootloader to be unlocked as it "fakes" that.

Please read Blackrose thread, or at least its first page, carefully and thoroughly.

I got it now, I misunderstand that I need to install blackrose hboot when my phone is at fastboot......
Everything works fine now!

BlackRose has an uninstall option and will replace it's S-OFF HBOOT version with the stock HTC HBOOT 1.13. Depending on which ROM you have installed, this may leave you with a phone that will not boot normally, so the next step after you uninstall BlackRose is to flash a RUU to return to stock.
For HBOOT 1.13, your best bet would be the WWE 2.30.405.1 RUU.

No because the BlackRose will prevent the RUU from overwriting it's S-OFF HBOOT and replacing it with the stock HBOOT.
With both AlphaRevX/Revolutionary and BlackRose you need to 'prepare' the S-OFF HBOOT so that a RUU can overwrite and replace it with the stock HBOOT.

If the HBOOT screen says VIVO and not VIVO_W then she has a IncS and with true S-OFF, then you can install a custom recovery and then will be able to flash custom ROMs. If the HBOOT screen says VIVO_W, the it is a Droid Incredible 2 and will need to go to that forum for a custom recovery and ROMs.

So the first line reads:
VIVO_XB PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
Or does it say ENG instead of SHIP?
In either case, I don't think it would be safe to try and flash the ROMs in this forum.

Is it possible you post a picture of the hboot screen (white screen) so that we can confirm a few things? If it is not a vivo then it probably won't be safe installing anything in our dev section

[Q] preserve s-off, locked status on stock 1.54

Hi, I recently got a new HTC One sim free, shipped with 1.54 bootloader from HTC. I knew that revone/moonshine do not enable s-off with 1.54 so I shipped the device off for s-off to fonefunshop and got them to do s-off and supercid on the device. Before shipping it off I rooted and installed twrp recovery.
When I received the device back, it still has the shipped rom on it, along with a few apps I installed. TWRP is still installed its still rooted. The bootloader is showing that its locked (not relocked), but it still shows the tampered flag.
Q1. What is the best way of getting rid of the tampered flag and keeping s-off, and locked status (not relocked).
Q2. If the above is possible will I be able to get OTA's without loosing s-off or locked?
The bootloader currently looks as follows:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** LOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-11111111
HBOOT-1.54.0000
RADIO-4A.17.3250.14
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-2.24.401.8
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Aug 9 2013, 16:15:36.22931
Jun 22 2013,00:54:00.0
I really dont want to lose s-off, or get to relocked status again if possible.
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I did search, but because s-off was not achieved with moonshine/revone I am a little unsure how to proceed.
Getting rid of the tampered flag is simple but fraught with problems
Flashing modified hboots is risky at the best of times..... if you try to go back to s-on or relock then you will brick your device. You will need to flash the original hboot if you want to go back.
Look at Vomers thread

1.54 s-off yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Hi,
I fixed this with my funfoneshop buddies.
Just flashed an old RUU and after 5 OTA's 1.54, still s-off, locked, and no tampered flag.
Just in case someone else gets the same problem.
Was just gonna say use the 1.28.401.7 RUU and then OTA it until at 2.24.401.8 but you've sorted it out so it's all good

[Q] convert HTC One 4.2.2/Sense5 to Google Edition

now that I have re-experienced the Nexus experience with my new Nexus7/2013 I wanted to "quickly" convert my stock HTC One to Google Edition to have a more similar experience on both my prefered gadgets. but I can't get pass the first pass... I seem to be stuck thanks to HBOOT 1.54 not allowing me to switch to S-OFF, one of the requirements as I read.
So what do I have: stock HTC One 4.2.2 OTA with in bootloader showing me:
*** TAMPERED *** (no clue why it says this, did not try loading/running anything other then Revone and moonshine, without any luck by the way)
*** UNLOCKED *** (I got this via the official HTCDEV-route)

etc
BIG QUESTION:
do I need to wait before there's an easy way to switch to S-OFF with HBOOT-1.54 or do I have other options to turn my HTC One into a Google Edition?
Hello.
Your bootloader is unlocked, so S-OFF or S-ON is not that important (though you cannot downgrade the hboot with S-ON, so you are stuck on 1.54 untill a tool for S-OFF on HBOOT 1.54 is made - im in the same situation by the way).
1. Flash custom recovery (TWRP or CWM)
2. Install a custom rom (im running with this one, based on android 4.3, GE (Google Edition) of Android.
3. Done
EDIT: No, S-OFF is not required, unless you want to flash CUSTOM firmwares or a few other things. Custom rom and custom recovery is doable as long as your bootloader is unlocked.
Kind Regards

This is good if he will only have the GE rom, if he will do a fully convert he need the s-off
Couldnt he flash the stock GE rom as a zip? Why is S-OFF needed? Because it must come as a RUU?
And thank you for the assistance in my earlier thread! :good: Recognized the sig instantly!

I think if your at 1.54 you can't s-off without some decent work. Have you tried some of the GE ROM's? I've been using the SinLessROM 4.1 GE and its better then stock GE if you ask me. Good luck with whatever path you take.

S-OFF is not avail for 1.54. Not without java-card and and only proof is a YT video - no tools: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF1CxtbPhV4
Thanks all for these clear and quick responses!
I would prefer the full monty: having an OTA updateable Google Edition
but for now a (as little as possible customized) GE-ROM will do fine
Which ROM can I flash, and what's the best way to do so?

Backup apps and settings with titanium backup. For the 3 dot menu there is an xposed mod for that. Note that installing xposed on the HTC one is different than usually, due to the system partition being protected in some way (changes are lost on reboot).

Help ! Keep on getting ruu error 155 flashing htc one back to stock

Thx for all your kindness, I'm completely new and noob here and i keep getting ruu error 155 while flashing my htc one back to stock.
I'm using an Asia wwe model, I have already unlock the bootloader and use both Asia wwe RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860.
But i still can't update my phone. Here is the information shown in my bootloader screen:
Relocked
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55 0000
RADIO-4A.21.3263.04
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-3.63.707.3
eMMc-boot 2048MB
Oct 30 2013,20:18:02.19197
I relock the bootloader , tick allow usb debugging in developer setting, boot into fastboot usb mode and run the ruu as admin, and it wont work. I really need help for this.
Your help will be much appreciate !!!
you need s-off and 1.44 hboot dude
Yeah, Ive just been through all this yesterday. My advice. Well, the safest option is to flash a guru reset rom through your custom recovery from http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/. It basically takes your rom and recovery back to stock. I think HTC must've built in protection to the RUU to prevent flashing under Hboot 1.55 to prevent failure of the touch screen........I didn't want to start messing with downgrading bootloaders so I flashed Guru's reset.....I'm now on stock with S-off and "Locked" bootloader.....which GURU also has a flashable zip for.... once again, flash it in recovery....also removes tampered flag if you've got that. Get that here http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/guru-bootloader-reset/
EDIT. Just noticed your S-ON...you need to be S-OFF to do all the above, sorry man.
