Anyone notice that after updating Adobe Flash to 11 from 10.3 video playback seems more choppy?
I can barely play 480 line videos now.
I use 10.3.185.25. It's the only one that will play online video using cm7 based roms
11.1 can play on miui, but have several problems , even with 10.3, adobe and flash sucks

Where can I find that version ?
I'm now using 10.3.186.7, downgraded and haven't looked back.
Sure, its not the greatest but 11 is total ballz.
Just do a search for "Adobe Flash 10.3 apk" eventually you'll hit x.186.7
The best version for me is com.adobe.flashplayer.v10.2.157.51.apk. But I still can't play 720p videos smooth, on youtube from browser. Can somebody help with that? if it's possibile.

Your device wouldn't benifit from playing it in 720 so wtf would be the point, best your small screen would do is 480.

There is a diffrence is in the coding i think. 720p looks better eventhough the screen is only 480p.

Lol....no.
@Forforce when you connect via hdmi the image is upscaled very well you would not notice the difference between 480 upscaled and 720 besides that the roms that do support 720 flash in the browser still don't do it very well so performance will still be choppy and isn't worth using 720 over 480. Maybe ICS will change somethings and support it better but i doubt it.

Greeting from the Charge forum.
I recently tried out a Gingerbread based leak on the Charge and found the Flash video playback to be significantly slower on Gingerbread with or without Voodoo lag fix enabled or disabled.
I don't know if the problem is the leak, phone specific, Gingerbread, or Flash player. I just don't have enough exposure to Gingerbread.
Having said that, I know the Captivate is a much more mature device.
So my question is how does Flash video playback on the Captivate compare between Froyo or gingerbread?
Try this trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRdxXPV9GNQ
On EE4 (Froyo) with or without lag fix I get smooth frame rates up to and including 720p.
On EP1W (Gingerbread) it's unplayable in 480p and okay (not perfect) in 360p.
Let me know if you get smooth frame rate in 720 or 480p.
Again, these test are in the browser, not the Youtube app. It requires your browser to be in desktop view mode.
If I turn my CPU up to 1440 its smooth. Anything lower its choppy in 720. Smooth at 360 no matter what I'm set to.
I assume you are runing on a Gingerbread rom/kernel. Do you or anyone else happen to have a Froyo rom/kernel for comparison?
Yeah I'm on miui right now. If no one shows up by end of night in a couple hours ill flash to a froyo n let you know.
I'm on stock KH3(latest leaked GB2.3.4) and no OC/UV and no lagfix as there isn't one for it at the moment! its fine at 720P

Great news. So we know that your getting hardware acceleration with Flash video playback. We know that Gingerbread supports hardware acceleration and Flash.
The question is what settings/configuration do you have on your phone that tells Flash to use your hardware (Hummingbird) to accelerate video playback.
Perhaps M3drvr and I can try build.prop edit?
I have used to V8 supercharger for the KAK tweaks and 3G booster and lag nuliifier

You are correct in that I was using the YouTube app and I tried the mobile youtube website before as well without any issues. Although when I switched over to desktop mode, I can't select the 720p setting. I tried on the stock browser as well as DolphinHD browser and when I click on the quality button to select the 720p setting the menu flashes for a sec and then goes away. Not to sure why it does that. Never had that issue before.

I'm using a modded stock rom and never lag at 480p so try a different rom.
Stop whining about 720p I've seen many vids of those so called sgs playing 720 and it does lag besides that you don't notice the difference on a small screen and for HDTV out it's upscaled so stfu about it. It lags because it's flash.....in a browser perfectly normal.
ICS with real hw acceleration might fix this but who knows and who cares.

Hi all xda members.I have a question about watching hd films on x8.Can i watch hd films (720p,1020p),when i can whith app is best for this.
Thanks for repiles.
I dont think so, maybe it will play but will be laggy. Try resizing the movie first. Theres a lot of converters out there.
For the apps I recommend MOBO player.

Thanks for fast help.
There is really no point in playing HD video on X8, because on 360p screen (480x360), you obviously can't watch 720p (1024x720) or 1080p (1920x1080) in their real resolutions
so for an example:
if you have one video in 360p, 720p and 1080p, and let's say that you want to watch this video on a device that supports 1080p but it has 360p screen (like X8),
you will end up with that, that you can't distinguish 360p from 1080p video
so my advice would be for you to resize it to 360p, put FPS on 20-23, maintain the sound quality, and that is as much as you can get on X8 regarding playing videos
use popular converter such as FormatFactory.
MP4 DivX Codec
480x320 WxH
20-30 FPS
Birate: 580KiB/s or higher until 2500KiB/s
Audio AAC
128 KiB/s
I never actually tried playing HD vids on my X8 before cuz I I know it will lag, but I think all the apps I would of recommended have already been mentioned
sent from my x8
Thanks now i resize films for my x8 in format factory and give 20-23-30 fps,360p.

IMO the problem is MX player, hardware works great on every single format in VLC for me and playing 720p no longer lags, which it did with MX. I'm on CM10.1 but was the same on previous versions.

Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I just realized you're posting from a Galaxy Tab, and while we have much the same hardware you should take your question to the appropriate section...
When my phone was new, the Samsung stock player was perfectly able to play anything I threw at it, you don't seem to know much about flashing so I assume you're on a stock ROM, in which case you have the stock player. Use that?
Also, for viewing on your Tab anything more than 720p is completely useless.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yes that is true, it is completely useless. hmm anyways I just wanna know is there any app that could allow me to configure the white and black color density, just like in the stock Gingerbread?

Maybe this is just my imagination, but 1080p video recording on 4.4.1 seems to be smoother than 4.4 by an order of magnitude. It's darker than before, but If I'm not mistaken, it appears to be recording at 60 fps (which is a feature of the Snapdragon 800). Really cool and interesting.

I haven't looked at the EXIF data so I could be wrong, but give it a shot - it's waaaay smoother than before the update. This phone has a SOC that supports 1080px60 recording, so it's not outside of the realm of possibility.

Yep, MX player is unsupported on 4.4.1 at the moment. Found "BPSplayer free" and when tapping on info button shows that my video recordings are averaging around 30fps with 4.4.1. It looks much smoother to the eye and preforms extremely well for a smartphone. But no 60fps based on these results.

I'd imagine it has to do with proprietary binaries from Qualcomm. Android likes everything to be open source, with access for all of us to modify/tinker, but putting all their special "tricks" which may not exist on other platforms (exynos, mediatek, etc) into open source code would potentially allow competitors to reverse engineer their methods. If you're familiar with Nvidia graphics cards on Linux it's the same thing. You can use TRUE open-source graphics drivers that are essentially terrible (no gpu video acceleration for video playback) but have source code available for, or you can use the proprietary NVIDIA drivers that arrive as binaries, no source code, but everything works perfectly on with great performance. They do this so ATI can't reverse engineer their drivers, essentially. There's also the possibility that Qualcomm charges based on which features they enable (they did this WAY back in the day on the HTC Mogul, not including hardware graphics acceleration drivers because HTC didn't want to pay extra).
I also noticed that right away much smoother video! +1 here
