Combining of G2x and Optimus 2x threads. Lets just do it.

Seems there is enough similarities of the phones, if not Exact....that the threads could be combined.
The reason I think it is critical to combine is that it becomes a hassle to check each thread to see what is good info...we have double postings essentially having two groups talking and solving the same problems.
Since the phones are the same hardware, you could argue that each custom ROM could have its own group. To me: same hardware = same group
I am fine with locking this thread....if I knew how to go about it.

My vote goes for: NO. Keep them as is. Two groupings

Curious to why?....I obviously can not think of a reason to not combine.

Also this may give 12312342424+ bricked phones....

Not until there is a way to make the Rom's compatible for both phones and the majority of dev's implement it. The fact that we can't run the leaked gingerbread G2X Rom says it really

No, they need to be seperate as the software isn't compatible.

Guys, this is why recovery supports "assert(getprop)" to prevent software being installed on the incorrect phone. This is why you can't install CM for a Desire on a Nexus One.
Also, it's pretty easy to label stuff.
So I think that reason is invalid.
However, I do think there should be two dev sections and common Q&A/General/Themes & Apps sections.
But then I look at all of the nonsense posts that go on in the G2x section and think perhaps we're lucky...
Nevertheless, I voted in the poll.

I'm aware of what is possible, but it makes no sense, don't want to be bothered with the G2X stuff and clog op this forum

It's not just that, the differences mean an answer for something on the O2X can cause problems for a G2X.
If I told someone to install CMR via ROM Manager, turn their phone off hold vol- and power up, on an O2X it would boot into recovery, on a G2X it would wipe the phone as ROM Manager fake flashes.

Why isn't this thread closed already? It's clear the two phones are different, and everyone agrees.

When this O2x thread open it was getting hammered with G2x questions etc which people with O2x didn't want to see or know about, if you wanna look at G2x go to there forum

You can't do so.
LG OB doesn't support this, but try to use the search function next time. This was discussed here enough and also look at the Clockwork Mod thread, there's a discussion to... Greetings

Online petition

Hello everyone,
I just made an online petition to obtain ICS for our device. I know someone can say we only want last release of an operating system and such. In my opinion, that's false. We want something we paid for. I gave LG my trust and they disappointed me. Please, sign the petition, if you share my thoughts, or at least give it a read.

Mainly for two reasons, mate:
- I have many friends with LG2x and they can't flash, for a million of reasons, they are afraid of bricks, afraid of not finiding confortable with custom roms, bugs, etc... and I, as CM user, think that we should all get updates, for the money we spent in the phone and the disappointing feeling. We use CM, but it's bad LG just discontinued her flagship phone.
- It's not only Italy's problem: if it were just Italy, I would have worked on other releases and made it available as custom rom, as every other person on this forum would do, but it's a common problem, and I thought we need a common solution.

no, its fine. I did sign the petition before replying to the thread. The consumer protection agency one was just a suggestion. I am in Maldives and we dont have an LG office/branch here, therefor we cannot do anything against them.

they say "always updated to the latest version of android with one click on the button"

For what I could understand, smaller offices, like italians just works as test units, so it would be a waste of time to keep in touch with them...
@davjan you are right, but after the Android Handset Alliance, this is just a pain to ear... ICS can run on Nexus S, it MUST run on our...

nice try, but no one will give a f*-ck about it !
as for other android phones : you get the version installed & 1 update ...
so ... froyo + GB , that´s it. then our phone is outdated.
companies want to make money & sell new phones, so that´s their policy ...
i can sign your petition if you like, but it will change nothing ...

but at least we have official CM support, so when ICS SDK is available, we will get it from this source

Even the gb leaks are based on froyo kernels. Face it we are never going to get gingerbread let alone ICS because LG simply can't do it. (I blame nvidia aswell btw but thats a whole different story)

The 2X developer community is awesome! I have been learning about tweaking/improving the T-Mobile G2X, a sister device to the 2X. Most of the innovations I've found have come from the 2X community and for that I'm very thankful. You guys rock.

Well for one, that everyone on the G2X just assumed that if you were using a 3rd party compiled kernel on a stock rom, it was going to rebuild the dalvik cache every time. Nobody knew why. That problem had already been solved on the 2X so I simply repacked Faux123's g2x kernel with the fix, and voila, normal bootup times. But nobody in the G2X community seemed to know about that fix...
Lots of little stuff. I guess there's just not enough of us g2x guys.

MIUI on OP black

guys i have talked to a miui admin and he told me they dont plan to release the rom on optimus black unless we show in a topic in their forums that a lot of people want this rom. he said we should get about 5000 people and because i believe thats insane , the only solution is to port it by our selves. And because i know nothing about developing i wish one of the devs here could port it for us.
Thats the only way to get miui on our optimus black
i know there are a lot of great devs here, we can see that by the variety of gr8 roms we have so far, if you combine ur knowlegde and skills you can make this happen

Will check what I can do if i have time i'm having a ubuntu machine for making roms maybe i can help us out just a little

at least 5000 people? This is like asking for people to line up in a restaurant for food before the restaurant even there in the 1st place. F*** THIS, its not like our Optimus Black is not working.
I'll go there to show my support/input if I get to try it first.
Sorry for being rude, is just that the "MIUI on Black" has been brewing for so long and no delivery... and now their ADMIN asking for more traffic to their site to show for support? My patient is running very thin with this guys, just like when we was waiting for gingerbread from LG.

I totally agree with you, the admin actually said that I should get all these people registered at miui.com and I don't know if they wanted so many people in the past in order to make roms for optimus 2x, defy and etc

I agree I had a Defy in the past and I was really surprised by how fast it got MIUI,CM7, CM9,etc But what I noticed is that Defy's forum is way much active than that of the Optimus Black
I remember someone was trying to port CM7 on the Defy for the first time. 6-7 months later, he became a dev member for CM7 for the Defy.
Starting from this, MIUI came, then KANGed MIUI, then CM9,etc
It's like there are less devs in OB forum than Defy.
I think that the more ROMs are developed for the OB, the more popularity the OB will get among other popular rom devs.
