[How to] Remove write-protection in 8gb micro SDHC of my P970 - LG Optimus Black

Today, I cant delete or move file in microSD. I use CM7 build #60
I try del files by File Manager, it says "file deleted" but when I reboot it doesnt still del.
Then I try to del and copy file from PC to my P970 by connecting to PC (and also try to format by PC), its also say "successful". But when I reboot, it has no change(.
I try to format by privacy in setting, but it says "invalid path: null".
And for it in Recovery, it says "done" but in fact it doesnt erase.(
Help me.

Oh, maybe my micro SDHC is write-protected. But I dont use microSD adapter, I use 2 different card readers and via P970. why can it happen? How can I remove write protection or format it? I try HP USD disk format tool and SD Formatter but they say "media device is write-protected".
I dont wanna buy new one

Maybe your PC user permission rights has altered you card permission setup. I don't know just guessing. Have you tried build-in disk management for repartition? Make sure your account level is administrator.

SD Card issue help needed

I formated my SD card on my mac as fat32 and now something strange has occured. It seemed to format fine, and I can add things to the card in both OS X and Windows, and Android, however now I cannot format the drive on the windows PC no matter what I try. The disk mounts in windows fine but when I right click and go to format, the SD card umounts and I get the pop-up message:
There is no disk in drive E:
Insert a disk, and then try again.
I think something weird happend when it was formated on the Mac.
My goal was to gain root access, which I've done in the past, but however the Mac disk utility formated the SD card, I cannot get the phone to recognize the DREAIMG.nbh file upon restarting the phone using the rooting method outlined in these forums.
I tryed a few different methods to format the card in windows, including diskpart, and through managment tools. The same thing happens with all methods.
edit: I also tryed formating using the format utility in in Android. It formats fine, but something is still wrong, it will not format in windows.
Any help would be much appreciated.
are you sure its a mac to pc issue? can you add files to the root of the sdcard and such on a mac
Yes, I can add files to the root of the card on the mac.
Whatever the mac's disk utility did during the format, the PC does not like.
Dude same thing happened to me
I found a work-around that. use a an sdcard reader (Usb or the one that comes with the sdcard) I formatted mine that way so I could use it.
Thank you! This worked.
no problem =)

[Q] How-to Mount SD Card 4th Partition?

I'm attempting to follow the directions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998861 to create a customized bootable SD image. One of the steps involves copying some files to the 4th partition of the SD card.
I've attempted to use the NookColorUMS utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952456) without success. I was able to download, install, and launch the application. My understanding is that I need to connect the USB cable to the NC and my PC and then choose to mount the 4th partition in the UMS application.. however, as soon as the NC is connected to the PC, I can no longer interact with the NC (it displays the message about transferring files between the devices) until I unplug the USB cable again.
Apparently, the other option is to use the ADB utility, but I don't really understand how that works.. do I have to download the Android SDK to my PC first? If so, I prefer the method above, but I have not had any luck.. thanks in advance.
I used VirtualBox-4.0.4-70112-Win with Ubuntu 10.0 installed, this lets me see all the partitions if using a usb reader.
Thanks, I'm trying to use this utility if I can, though. Installing a virtualization suite and then Linux on top of it just to be able to see a partition on an SD card is more work than necessary, in my opinion..
I too use NOkk Color UMS....
When I connect to nook, i get the usb storage notification...I do not enable usb storage...
Then...I open nookcolor ums and am able to mount the 4th sd card partition...
Do u turn on the usb storage mode?
I'm honestly not sure why I couldn't get it to work.. I ended up using another method to create the SD image that only has one partition on it, so I was able to copy files to the card without any additional utilities.
I found this to be the simplest and easiest - just drag and drop:

how to change SDcard?

how can I change SD card and keep all as it was with old one?
I tried to copy everything from one card to another using 2 card readers but it always says, for just some files, that it can't read source destination.
Thank you!

Insert old SD card in adapter. Copy all your data on PC. Insert your new SD card and copy data from PC to SD card. This should do it.

I did try that. I tried to copy directly from one card to another using 2 card adapters and I tried to copy from old card to PC.
some files and folders can be copied but some can't.
Error massage is:
"Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk"
I used 2 different card adapters and I tried to mount card from phone.

Maybe your SD card adapter is damaged, or the card itself?
I have done that by phone (not have card reader )
This msg can occur in 2 situations:
- when destination card is not formatted
- when you want to copy file that have over 2GB onto FAT partition
It it prompting that msg when you READ try scan (chkdsk) it. It may have some UTF8 file names too - windows cant read them correctly on FAT.
I guess it had something to do with win XP not being able to read some android files. I used Linux Mint, did exactly the same, and I had no problem.
thank you all for help

EMERGENCY! sd card error

my card is a GSkill 32gb class 10. a bit ago i copied some movies to it, nearly to the brim. then the phone just went crazy and showed mounting and unmounting sd again and again. so i restarted it and then the phone said sd card corrupted, format it. plugging in the data cable didnt work so i used a card reader to plug the sd to pc. there it showed sd is full but the only files i could see was some game data files on android/obb folder and LOST something folder. i moved those files from the sd and plugged it to the phone again but still nothing. then in a forum i saw something
put your sd card into any phone which can be used as usb storage(exposes the sd as a drive in MS Windows).
I used Win 7.
Alternatively you could use any micro sd to sd adapter and then plug it in directly in your laptop/computer or n a card reader connected to the computer through USB.
Start command prompt with administrative privileges: Right click on desktop and choose new shortcut and type cmd at command line.Next right click the cmd icon and select Run as Administrator.
Type in the newly popped out window:
chkdsk <drive letter of the sd>: /r
Wait for the process to finish.
Remove sd and put it back into the phone.
Job done! ;0)

I did, says the card is fine
Weird uhm download and install hd tune pro (trial) and run a deep scan on your sd

card works now on the phone. windows checkdisk have backed up all the files to FOUND.000 and FOUND.001 folders. tried to recover from them but only the pictures are working, everything else is corrupted
If you want to check the card for errors then use this program it's an exe file that requires no installation basicly it will fill the card with data then empty it and report back on data lost/corrupted you would need a card reader as this won't work through a phone http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml

Micro SD Card Data Recovery?

So.... I always backup my things, but my friend not so much and well all the sudden he was asking me why there where hardly any pictures in his gallery. Well the micro sd card was not being detected so I put another in and it reads it fine.
Also put the Micro SD Card into my PC nothing at all even under storage devices, it detects the adapter is plugged in but as if there was no card in the SD to micro sd adapter. Also placed it in several other phones nothing like its dead.
I`m not getting the error like people have where the card is detected but corrupted, This card reads not at all! If it was "courpted" I have data recovery software for that ive used for people in the past, but this card seems dead.
Anything I can do? It has a ton of family pics etc on it which cannot be got back. I know the data is most likely there as there has been no physical damage to the card or even the phone.
I have also tried cleaning the cards contacts.
Any suggestions? Its a 8GB Samsung Micro SD card.
Hello. I suggest Recuva ( https://www.piriform.com/recuva ). Run it with your PC and use Admin rights. Deep scan your sdcard. You maybe able to recover files then, if the files themselves are readable and not corrupted. I have had these file corruption problems with cheap ebay sdcards wich at the end appeared to be fake/counterfeits.
I also suggest to format sdcard exFAT and run h2testw ( http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml ) to sdcard with PC to see is your card faulty.

You will need some specialist recovery software. We were recommended a program called ZAR. Other similar programs are available, but ZAR worked well for us and is free for this purpose.
Install ZAR, then insert the damaged SD card into your PC's card reader. Launch ZAR. (You may have to disable your PC's security software, in which case we recommend you also disable the internet connection).
When prompted, click the Image Recovery (Free) option. This will help you to recover photos from an SD card.
ZAR will now look for devices that are installed, and you need to point it to the offending SD card. Select the correct disk and click Next. ZAR will now analyze your SD card. This will take a few minutes.
Once this is complete you'll see a list of the recovered files. On most SD cards the chances are that clicking the 'Root' checkbox will select all the images. Click Next and you can then select the folder into which recovered files will be placed. By default, this will be the same as the folder you chose to save (so 'Root', in all likelihood).
One important point: you will be asked to select a destination folder for the recovered files. Make sure you choose one on your PC's hard disk and not back on to the corrupt SD card. The latter option will help you not one jot!
It will take a few minutes for the files to copy across. Once this is complete browse to the destination folder you selected. You should find most if not all of the files you wanted to rescue.
