I had a similar problem. I had to use r3l3ased and forever root, then path saver.

Had the same problem. I have narrowed it down to either a bootstrap issue or one of the mods I used in the past. I used R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R Root before doing 2 separate OTA's, one to get back to 893 than the next to 902. It takes some time, sure, but it worked. I'm now waiting for my apps to reinstall.
I tried to go into stock recovery just a sec ago. and when i click vol up to select it . i get an exclamation point with the android guy below it? anyone know why this is happening or what i can do? thanks guys

derp soory i figure it out. i forgot you are supposed to hit vol up and down at the same time
I had similar issues getting a corrupted file. So I ended up going back to stock 893 using the fxz and rsd lite. That put me back to true factory setup, and back on the OTA wagon. So I forever rooted and took the update direct from Verizon and let the phone update itself. Now "poof" running rooted 902.

I had a similar issue, I did a hard reset of my phone, and updated fine afterwards.

Hey guys,
unrooted the bionic, but Liberty rom is still very present. super user is gone, and it looks like it was unrooted successfully. Any ideas how to get rid of the boot loader and other Liberty artifacts?
thanks

Do you have usb debugging on? If not it needs to be on. Also are you in fastboot mode? Volume down then power at the same time
---------- Post added at 06:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------
If all else fails, hopefully you made a nandroid backup of your phone when it was stock right after you rooted it and you can always reboot and restore your nandroid then un root.
Use dhacker's one-click restore. It's stickied in development. I guarantee it'll fix you right up.

Hi guys,
I have been having some trouble flashing to eclipse 2.1 with the 901 update
what i have done:
i started on liberty 2.0,
went back to stock 893,
used bionic path to get to 901 stock and rooted <- i was fine here
installed bootstrap from market
used bootstrap to flash eclipse 2.1
now I am in bootloop for eclipse with the cdt error. EDIT: I dont get the error booting up (i just get stuck on the boot image for eclipse), I got the error while trying to flash back to stock 893 via RSD
Im working on getting out of CDT, but any ideas how to get to eclipse 2.1 successfully? did I do something wrong?
Thanks!
You must have a corrupted file or something. Try downloading rom file again from here http://www.eclipserom.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20&sid=74a3ebb1b89c196b1eb4fd9dc6c1d648

thanks ill try it
So CDT is a no go for me, I am having issues loading the recovery, and for some reason i cant get past the "click the android to begin" screen so i can turn on debugging to use 1 click path....
any more ideas? or is it time to visit the warranty wizard?
What's cdt? You can bypass the android by tapping the four corners of the screen, I believe you start at the top left then right clockwise. Here is a link I found, maybe it will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427945

Can someone post a step-by-step method on how to update to. 902 and keep root. The more detail the better. I only ask this because this is my second bionic and I dont want to brick it.
Thanks in advance!

This is what i did
I flashed stock rom using rsd lite
RSD LITE 5.6: http://db.tt/y23vQ3Td
Using this zip: http://db.tt/hBFdk3qv
ROOTED AND 4EVER ROOTED MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS IF YOU WANT ROOT[I always root stock instead of .893 fnr(for no reason)]
BOOT INTO STOCK RECOVERY
FIRST FLASH .893: http://db.tt/vfNEdVdf
THEN .902: http://db.tt/g0gm69Hq
REBOOT
enjoi
If your already on .893 just flash .902 in STOCK RECOVERY NOT CWM
FOR SUPER NOOBS
Flashing to stock
Extract the flashme.zip to the desktop
Open RSD Lite and click on the ... symbol
In the box, go to desktop and choose "default_flash_targa"
Put your phone in Fastboot Mode
Click Start
If anyone used this method...
dont be afraid of the thanks button lol

I did unr3l3as3droot and forever root first. Then I did the path saver. Then I flashed 896 and 901. After that, I downloaded the 902 ota but didn't install it. Moved it from /cache to the external SD card. Then I turned the phone off. To turn it back on, I hit both volume up and down as I powered it back on. That took me to a different menu that I can't currently think of the name but that is where you will flash 902 at. Remember that the 902 update has 901 in its file name when flashing. If you come across a triangle thing, hit volume up and down and the update will flash.

Easier root method...
There is an easier way then this now...
1. Install update
2. Use the Droid 4 exploit found at vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/11/rooting-the-droid-4-a-failed-bounty-experiment/ and yes it works for the Bionic on 5.9.902 (i just got done using it)
3. Look at your phone.... its now rooted.
And everyone who uses it should donate to djrbliss and prove that the Android community can support such a valuable asset!

I just did the OTA over wireless and did the update and I kept ROOT.
I did un-froze all the apps I had frozen with titanium backup before applying the update.
Still have root...
In my case, the update wouldn't install. I had to go all the way back before I could go forward.

If you lose root during the update, see here to get it back.
I am forever rooted, and defrosted all the apps I froze with TB. Any ideas as to why this update keeps failing?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
Download the official update.
Open root explorer and go to the /cache/ directory.
Copy or move the update from there to your SD card.
Power off phone
Hold Volume up and down together and press power button
You see a menu. Hit volume down to go to recovery. Hit volume up to select it
Now you see a Droid and upside down triangle. Hit both volume buttons.
Now you are fully into stock recovery.
Choose the update with zip option.
When it fails it will tell you exactly why it failed.

AWWW come on Dude... damn you should have said so a LOOONG TIME ago. There is no way to go from .901 to .902 unless your still on OTA's. I take it your not because you have this problem.
You have 2 choices
1. Go back to Stock 5.8.886 and then flash updates .893 and then .902(which you can find here)
2. Or Flash the .902 Stock FXZ using RSD lite. It will put you on .902 without having to applied updates manually. Loacted here. Copy the stuff you want to keep to your PC or External SDcard as is way wipes Internal Sdcard(which isnt a real problem)
Thats it dude. Anyone else will tell you the same thing.
CHEERS!!
PM me if you want instructions on all of this..
Thanks for all your help, I was trying to avoid wiping but now that I know its not possible Ill just go ahead and do it. Thanks for all your help.

You can back up all your apps/game data/ call log and all that good stuff using Titanium Backup
I have a bionic that i system updated to 5.9.902 a couple days after i got it. Then i made the mistake of coming here and messing up my phone because i have no idea what I'm doing
I installed safestrap and did the whole noob step by step guide. Installed eclipse and a couple other roms. For some reason i wiped my internal and external storage. I have no backups of anything.
I've tried releasedroot, petes, rds lite with the 902 xml. I got stuck all the time with what seemed to be a driver issue.
I just want to return this thing to stock and stop messing with it
As of now when I press power i go straight to ap fast boot flash failure screen. I press power to power off and hold vol up and down to boot into recovery but just pick the normal boot option. Phone then boots into what seems to be my stock 902. I dont know if im rooted anymore.
If i could rid my phone of this flash failure and safestrap, i would be stupid happy
Anyone out there willing to help a total noob? If any more info is needed I'd be happy to provide

What error did you receive using rsdlite?
When you go into your phone settings..can you verify your on 902?
I'm at work now but it was some sort of usb failure. It got stuck on 1/22 mbm something.
Yes as of right now im on 902.
Is there a tutorial on how to completely remove usb drivers? Even though rsdlite says I'm connected, I don't see my phone drivers in device manager. That's where I think I'm going wrong but not really sure.
