ICS Developement Log - LG Optimus 2x

I seem to have stumbled upon this development log.
docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvhPSapHpE1odDVsRWhDbWQtamZkZzhQZXU0UVZEamc#gid=0
According to this one, we almost have a fully working ICS device besides the camera and video playback, both which are classed as "Partially Working".
Still, I would like to confirm the authenticity of this log, can anyone confirm..?

The source where I have compiled from my CM9 Kang is: github.com/vorkteam. I flashed it but com.android.phone stops working all the time so it's not usuable and this proves that Ril doesn't fully working for now. Camera don't work from that source (maybe it needs some modification that I didn't apply). Gapps working but youtube FCs when pausing a video. Browser is a little bit choppier than the G2X alpha roms but I think it will be fixed. USB mass storage give me blue screen on PC (Blue death I don't know it in English sorry). Wifi works without a problem. Chrome doesn't display any website. I didn't test Bluetooth and GPS. Gallery is flickering. Angry Birds is also flickering and unplayable. Reboot doesn't work. I hope I helped to assure you!
Edit: It is not even close to Beta!

i did the same a few days ago and had the same bugs, but the sources on that github are not updated with the fixes, they only added camera patch but they did not add the ril fixes. So if they update the sources, we can compile a good build for testing, but until that happens, we can not have a good build.
i hope benee updates the sources soon.

From RC's Google+, it seems that the first flashable rom shell will arrive under these coming few days.

If you look at the main thread for ICS on P990, you can see the devs talking about it. And no, it's not functional for daily use at all yet, there's no hw accel yet, and as such it's very buggy, very slow, and it is not fixed yet. It PROBABLY won't be fixed before there's a LG leak available.

Radio fixes are being kept private for the time being. Wouldn't want anybody re-releasing our hard work, now would we?

Thanks, giving it a try now
Wow,
Installing as we speak.
I will get back on this...
Well it's running fine for now Great work
MArket is broken, but as you stated it's a beta, maybe you could team up with other adam developers (josh ) to make this one beast of a CM7
Greetz,
couldn't get it to work properly..
First bootloop, then when it booted everything FC'ed..
After another reboot and wipe I could't get past the touch android to begin screen..
Very strange..
I got it booted...
Can't get the market to work though. A good start but needs work before it'd be a daily driver for me. I'll probably go back to vegan soon.
this is sweet, going to try this tomorrow =)
hi thx for your input in our life with Adam
It booted for me after wiping data and cash
First it seemed to be bit glichy and slow with response...
the design with Honey comb like bar is very nice
but WiFi could not connect to my router and i try and try and try and try
and reboot and try
and change permissions on router and try
and no go for me
as for included aps Terminal emulation FC. on me
hym
Looking forward for next version
Now back on Beast
regards
Just installed to take a look. Nice to see cm7 on the Adam. Got wifi going unlike others, but most applications would fc.
Thanks for starting this project.

Thanks a lot DJ_Steve.
Installed it on my PQi Wifi Adam and here are updates so far. ( Wiped data )
1. Firefox FC but installing it from SD card again and its working fine now
2. Market FC. Tried the Market trick ( clearing data on service, fc market and reboot) but didn't work
3. Installed Titanium backup from SD card apk. Works fine
4. Used Ti Backup to restore some apps like thumb keyboard and they work fine
5. Installed Dolphin Browser HD but it starts in portrait mode and I cannot click accept button.
6. I got a prompt on first boot to install some apps like facebook, gmail etc but they all failed with a FC on market.
So far the ROM runs really fast and working great. I need dig the PQi toggle app and install. I like the HC look and the smoothness of the ROM.
Kudos .. and Thanks ..
Will post after more testing.
Have you talk with mad-murdock about the changes you made to make it work? It would be best to get this included with the official builds.
That said, god job on this. Similar issues to arvi007 so far. Firefox and Market FC. Terminal Emulator causes a reboot. Red LED on the side of the Adam is on all of the time.
I'll keep playing and see what else I can come up with.
Crud, not long after I said this I rebooted and it died. Had to NVFlash to get it back.
Not seen most of those issues here. But their is bugs. Ill see if I cant build from source at a point soon

Yeah, getting quite a few Force Closes.
Fruit Ninja THD for example closes due to Webkit problems, you said you removed the stock browser, so these probably go hand in hand.
Dolphin HD also crashes for an unknown reason.
Feel free to add in my Pixel Qi toggler app if you like, (MrGuy here)

Yea webkit seems screwed up. going to try a stock cm7 build next to see if it works their them add the tablet tweaks back

Great start, will definitely be following this, would be great to get a stable CM7 build on the Adam
Mostly Working
I have a PQ+Wifi adam and i got CM7 working using this build but when I did a shut down power off and try to power on again the device never boots. I have to debrick it. Otherwise besides the browser/Camera issues and a FC in gmail when opening a message with an attachment it was a great start towards a fully functional CM build
Edit:
Fixed the reboot problem by not using Clockwork Recovery. I wonder if this is related to the issue CW /CM has on the G2 were when you power it off it goes to recovery instead of completely turning off.
I somehow got the market working. However, Firefox does not work.
Being CM7 is there CIFS and TUN support? I really need something to let me access windows shares from my corporate network over VPN.
I should have tried it before I went back to Beast and got all comfy
Looking forward to using this, but will wait till the bugs get worked out. Enjoying Beast at the moment.

CM9 Nova HD Plus v1.1 discussion

Hi All,
Since i am not allowed to post directly to the original thread to the great CM9 ROM from hei1125 -- Nova HD Plus v1.1,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508492
I have to ask here who had this ROM and discuss our experiences.
So far i got 2 issues:
- the voice call is very light said the call receiver, could anyone confirm? is there a way to increase the volumn?
- Google map zoom with two fingers is pretty bad, not smooth as it used to be on CM7
Thank you.

For calling and internet related issues, I would always check baseband and RIL first. I'm using the 750 baseband (as suggested by the developer) and got the matching RIL with GetRIL from the market. I have no issues with volume. I'm not quite sure whether I can reproduce your Gmap zoom issue, but perhaps this is because we are still lacking some graphic drivers from nvidia. Just my 2ct...

Yes I did had a lot of troubles with baseband and RIL,,, i tried GetRIL for help with my the latest temsak Kang, where i had problem that sometimes the mobile network is disconnected while screen off.
I felt this new ICS ROM is much better related to connection, only the volumn is too low.
I installed RC3-6 and really enjoyed the ICS experience. The ROM is smooth and stable as advertised.
However some key features are not working i.e. camera video
and some minor things like no support for wired headset button which ruins my usual music listening routine.
I tried this with Ironkernel but couldnt get it working due to the low memory error.
Wiped and installed again without the kernel and this time it worked great, nice ROM. Only problem is I need TUN support to get my vpn working and the included CM9 kernel doesnt seem to have this enabled.
Any other kernels i can try with CM9?

as far as i read from the forum, Ironkenel is great for performance however many other problems like faster battery drain,, so i would stick to the standard kernel and wait for the features to be implemented... at the end, the kernel is still in a relatively early stage and i am happy with the stability we could get so far.

@hei1125
In german forum android-hilfe.de
I offer a little Mod for CM9, it changes the color of pressed buttons from orange to ICS/CM9 blue, and the battery icons.
Since I use your rom, the mod works in your rom too So the question is, is there a difference between framework-res.apk and systemui.apk in RC4 and RC5
I have gone back to cm7 as I need certain features for daily driving but the Nova rom has me itching for LG to release their update ASAP and look forward to all the custom roms to follow. XDA developers rock!

[Discussion] ICS discussion thread.

Hey guys, since all are simply posting every single thing related to ICS in the DEVELOPER section, I create this thread here.
Here you can post everything related to ICS, but which has NOTHING TO DO WITH DEVELOPMENT!
I dont want thanks or anything else for this one here, but keep the devsection clean.
Its purpose is to serve development issues and not noob questions about how to install or WHAT is working... Use this here instead please and leave the other thread to the developers here.
I am none of them, so dont count me in.
I only try to help em now and then, or get some knowledge about how to fix ROMs.
Off it goes
Just 4 replys and there is Flame and Offtopic here.
Do not post anything related to everything else, this is for ICS discussion, keep that way!.
We are working hard, we are not real developers. We are just a team that is trying to make ICS for our OB. Now we are working on fixing audio and wireless as principal. Iam trying to make ICS from source cuz that way we will have light rom and not garbage in there, if someone can do this will be easier fixing bugs.
There will be no ETAs cuz is just not possible to know when we will fix anything, can be right now, can be tomorrow or next week, we dont know...
So guys be patient.
Thread cleaned
This is a great idea, and I'm going to stick it. Stay on topic, don't make me clean out more junk!
So, where's the ealier 2nd post ? lol

I wish they would post the ICS version that they have now (With the working Wi-Fi). I don't really care about the GSM, I use VoIP anyway with Viber and Friendcaller. I could live with that until they have fixed the GSM issue.
There is no audio, so you can't call in any way.
we will release it when fix audio and camera.
what is working:
Wifi fully working
Multitouch
gsm without SIM lock
physicall buttons
rotation
some sensors (not all of them)
I dont remember anything else by now...
do not ask for ETAs, as I say, we will release when it be stable.

[ROM]Cyanogenmod 10 - Unofficial - Latest Build: 9/12

See Pon's thread for continued CM10 support.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882918
Thanks.
Cyanogenmod 10 for the Droid Incredible - Unofficial
The CM team has officially dropped support for the Droid Incredible with the last supported release being CM7.
Credit
First, all credit goes to the following, I simply benefit from their work
Team Evervolv - Donate
Evervolv is responsible for keeping the device tree and a lot of the hardware drivers up to date, without them, we'd most likely have no roms.
Cyanogenmod - Donate
Cyanogenmod is responsible for all the features of the rom, without them we'd be stock with AOSP.
Stripped
Due to the increasing size of the system files to run JellyBean and Google apps and our limited system partition, some things have to be removed from the rom, otherwise things don't work, you blame me, you're sad, I'm sad, and no one wants that. Some things are also removed as I don't use them and removing them each time I flash a rom is a bother. That's the real reason I made this rom anyway. You should be able to replace almost anything that's been removed by installing it as a user app, adding it to your SD Card, or adding it to the rom before you flash it. If in doubt, ask.
AOSP ring tones, CM ring tones still exist
Apollo
The AOSP Music Player app - Play Music replaced this long ago imo
CM Wallpapers
DSP Manager
Live Wallpapers
OpenVPN
Non-English Dictionaries (Only matters if you're using the AOSP keyboard)
Rom Manager
Video Editor App
What doesn't work
Camcorder - not working on any Inc rom atm
Video Playback - Something in CM10 is causing it to break and trying to find out which piece is difficult
Other things? You tell me. I don't use the phone the same way you do, so something else could be broke.
Source Code
Can be found at my github here. If you want to build it yourself, feel free to tweak it, but please read the instructions, as at the time of this writing, there are many reverts to be made. I have them setup so they apply automatically when I repo sync using a shell script, you can do the same.
Downloads
* Note feel free to post a mirror if you like, buyer beware though.

Third party camera apps don't work in this building unless using Tiny's kernel. incredikernel-jb-beta2.zip - 2.63 MB
cm-10-20120830-UNOFFICIAL-inc-stable.zip
Main changes over 8/28 are upstream commits and updates to the stock kernel
Google Apps
Latest Evervolv Gapps is recommended due to their smaller size.
Goo.im Gapps also work, but are larger and you will need to watch your system space when flashing these.
Flashing
Cyanogenmod is designed to not need wipes between flashes. While this generally holds true, I've found occasionally flashing does solve an error or two. If something doesn't work after a dirty flash, clean flash before you report the problem. The download will say if a flash is required, otherwise follow what was just said.
Issues
If you're having issues follow this list of steps.
Check that you're on the latest build, if not, get on it
If you dirty flashed, clean install
If it's an issue with voice search or Google now, check system space, if it's full, free some and reflash gapps
If it's an issue with an app, try a clean install of said app
If it still doesn't work, search the thread, does someone have the same issue?
If no one has the issue, get a logcat and post in the thread, don't PM me. Logcats should be uploaded to a paste website, not directly posted on the forum.
Run around in circles until I or someone else posts a solution to your problem. If you get tired, take a break, then try to solve it yourself, if you do, post the results!
Thanks again to Team Evervolv and Cyanogenmod for making this rom possible.
Enjoy.
Haven't tried this yet but it's nice to see that it has found the light of day out of the Q&A section. Best of luck with this ROM as I know myself and many others will be following it.
Thank you for making this. It's good to see the Inc keep up.
I've recently come to the decision that having a working camcorder is more important than having the latest and greatest shiny, so I'm back down to CM7 for the time being.
Thanks for your efforts in making this available, it's great to have choice and I was beginning to miss the CM customization. I'm running a slightly older build now, but it's running great for me, and I'll be sure to be updating it to this newest when I get a chance.
Glad to see this thread in the Dev section now! So far this ROM is running great for me. I'll be installing the new 8/30 build soon.
Thanks for everything Zimeron
Thank you for this! Also, for some reason I thought the initial post was especially well written so props for that as well.
8/30 Working Well
I am running the 8/30 version with Evervolv's gapps and incredikernel. No new issues that I can find (just still konwn issues with camera and video). I don't have anything bluetooth so I can't test that. I was running Albinoman's but missed the CM addons.
Did CM9 ever get flashlight working in the notification widget? It is greyed out on CM10.
thanks Zimeron
Okay, I have to ask... How doe this compare to Albinoman's Jellybean Beta 3?

Flashlight in the notification widget, never seen/used that before. I think I can get this turned on from some commits I saw today for other devices.
Anyone play words or scramble with friends while using this rom? It's a silly thing but I was wonder if you do, do you get updates when it's your turn?
It's really hit or miss on roms. Some ICS roms will notify, others will not.Evervolv's does not. I will flash anyways, just wondering.
Thanks for keeping this phone alive.
Any chance you could add in the offline voice dictation feature? I thought it was a standard feature of JB, but there's no ability to download the offline language pack in the voice search settings.

My bad! I should have tested it before posting haha. Your build fixed it actually. It didn't work on Albino's build, and I assumed it wouldn't work on this build either because it doesn't have the Offline Voice download setting. But I just tested it and it worked great! With no internet connection, I was able to dictate a text message
Loving this ROM!
On a side note, I just updated to 8-30 and noticed that I needed to reflash gapps after because my google program were missing. In the past with CM9, I didn't need to install gapps after a new nightly and relogin, etc. Is there any way to have it retain gapps when flashingover?

The script is there to maintain gapps, but I've found it to work randomly. I have flash it everytime to be safe, my brother never flashes it and never needs to on his Inc, no idea what's different, and it's not worth it to me to dig into it when it takes two seconds to queue another zip to flash with TWRP.
k sounds good. Not sure why, but 8-30 is running amazing and noticeably smoother than 8-28. I'm also using Tiny's JB kernel and it seems to be working great. Best ROM out there.
100% the best JB I've used thus far. Crazy smooth and responsive.

Your phone/notification sounds might not be linked, meaning the sound is lower than you think it is.
[e]Hopefully new build today, CM merged in a lot of stuff, so testing takes longer.
New build: cm-10-20120901-UNOFFICIAL-inc.zip
Upstream commits include: SMS popup, variable lockscreen pattern size (up to 6x6), advanced phone settings from CM9, and audio over bluetooth should work (thanks to EV). Also, the toggle LED flashlight option in the notification drawer works now.
Enjoy.
Loving it! Thanks for the hard work on this!

[KANG] [CM 10.1] tilal6991's CM 10.1 Kangs [4.2.2] [XPERIA T]

So due to the recent nightlies having quite a few issues but me being unable to fix them officially, here's a final 10.1 build from myself. Honestly, you should be on a 4.3 based ROM though

Good work
How did you find out that it is a toolchain issue? Is this problem escalated to someone who might have influence in tracking it down?
Maybe these "some reboots" left has the same cause - only happening more rarely, for example because of optimization level etc. You might confuse people with accusation of that type without a proof.

Note that I don't outrightly say that it IS a toolchain issue. It is what I suspect because I have set up the CM sources in exactly the same way as the buildserver. If the number of reboots is reduced on my build and the sources are exactly the same then it stands to reason that it is a difference in the way the system itself is set up.
I SUSPECT a toolchain issue because the reboots are kernel panics and they are difficult to create except with differences in the compiler itself.
I do agree that optimization level could be an issue but find it hard to believe since the optimization level is set in the source itself and as I say, my sources are the same as upstream.
is it 10.1.2 then?

Past 10.1.2. It's equivelent to the current nightly build.
Smart move. And thanks!
For me it suffers from the "Can't play this video" bug.
I had CM 10.1.2 official stable before, that one plays video correctly.
Many thanks to tilal6991 for the time and effort he's spending in order all of us can have a great working version of CM10.1 on our Xperia T's.
I'm going to try this kang and see what happens with the random reboots!

Oh? 10.1.2 works? That's interesting.
For a temporary workaround: install MX player and use it to play videos.
thanks tilal hope this well help in investigating and hopefully fixing the reboot problem so i can at last buy this phone
Thank you for your job tilal! I have tried again but I got three reboots in half an hour first when I wanted to enter to the settings menu, second át the theme chooser, third at starting camera app. There are the tipical reboots point in cm rom according to my experince.

That's insane and totally contradictory to my experience :/ I use the settings app and the camera all the time and as I said once a week is typical for me. Theme chooser is an interesting one. I'll see if I can force reboots there.

To make this more insane.... The nightly is pretty stable for me actually. It reboots most of the time when playing music using a BT headset (Google Music / Apollo).
I am playing Ingress, so the phone is really on a lot of time (screen on about 1.5 hours non stop and connected to an external battery) and i get 2 max 4 reboots a week. With the exception when playing music, then i get reboots every few minutes
I have not seen any improvements with your kang (and also not with my own kang).

Have your kang running since last night and had at least five reboots since then. Often related to the camera (both from the lock screen and from the separate application). Another one while fiddling with Facebook, and one that I cannot exactly recall... I have been able to take a number of photographs without reboots
Can of course start collecting logs if that's helpful.
Thank Rob
Yeah logs might be useful although I'm sure I know what I'm going to see in them.

So I have to say.. Nice rom, more stable than original one but... I still have tons of reboots yesterday.. I have been on tour yesterday and took around 300 photos, was hardly using my phone for 4 hours and I can clearly say.. Small chance of reboot when opening camera app, very small when taking a photo, had few reboots with some camera apps too but it's better then official later Nightlies or stable one... No reboots with any others applications yet, just with snapseed once ( reboots while trying to edit picture in official builds are common).. So ahm anyway it's way better, thank u for ur work sir
