Can someone tell me how i can easy update from Froyo 2.2.2 to 2.3.4 because i got phone 1 week ago and i dont know much about androids

I did that.. and it doesn't work. Says I'm on the latest firmware. But I'm on 2.2.2 I've been trying to update for over a week now with no success.
Have you changed the baseband?

Come on stop blurring his mind...
If lg update tool doesn't upgrade you're phone, there must be a reason.. And baseband shouldn't be changed as it is one of the things lg tool looks at to search if upgrade is necessary.
But the best way to upgrade is to root your phone, instal clockwork mod recovery, then finally the ROM you want, even Ics 4.0.3 is available...
Just look and read threads in stickies to have info, and a guy recently made a thread in general section I think to explain how to do that.
The best deep way to learn is to search and experiment..

hi to the forum this is my frist post. Just got my brand new sgs out of the box runnig fw 2.2.1 baseband xxjpw and cant seem to root it, all the ways ive tryed to root it have been no good up to now and cant find anything on xxjpw on the net all i can find info on is xxjpx and xxjpy and at a total loss now. I all so whould like to know is which is newer xxjpw are xxjpy and if xxjpy is newer should i flash my sgs. Hope someone can help me as this is doing my head as i rooted and lagfix my old sgs with android 2.1 in seconds...
Wow this is the first time I hear the 2.2.1 firmware is official, because you say you have it on a new Galaxy..
Anyway, on my JPY I used superoneclick and it worked like magic.
Just search this forum for SuperOneClick, and follow the instructions in the author's thread.
I just downloaded program, put my phone in USB debug mode, connected phone, launched SUperOneClick, pressed Root button, and that was about it...

Try superoneclick ... works fine on XXJPX, XXJPY.
jpw??? 1st time hear bout it. Would like to see the screenshot too!!!! If the phone is already smooth why should u do lag fix? btw please comment bout the performance JPW such battery life! As the phone is a new one, so i think it is an off. FW!

u use odin? try using hardcore's kernel K12A. Flash it with odin, and go into recovery. One of the option is to install superuser (root).

it's still on the stock rom, I just need someone to give me a stock rom file I believe to reflash. I don't have a backup....

O I just didn't feel comfortable doing anything major to my phone yet so I wanted to try a basic theme for now.

If u'r about to flash an original firmware, it's already an high level action.
Moreover, if your phone is actually unusable, you'd better flash a firmware, even if this one is older than your's.
I must confess I switched to custom ROM as soon as I received my O2X, so I'm not confident with original firmwares.
You'll find many tutorials all around the net, or even here (also have a look at modaco's forum).
If I can give you an advice, switch to an alternate rom. Tutorials are clear, and they brings so much power.
As an example, I'm actually running Cyanogenmod, latest nightly build.
Android version is 2.3.5 which the latest one available. You won't find it on officials firmwares.
You can't theme a stock ROM, that's where you went wrong.
ahh that makes sense, I got a replacement phone from fido today since it's only been a day.
I think I'm going to wait until people confirm that the p990HN is the same as the normal p990 before I do anything else.

I've a tutorial to repair a brick p990 and i think that work for p990hn, but it's in italian. Try to translate it with google translate or something like that.. i can't translate it 'cause i'm going to work. Search with google "brick lg dual come riportarlo in vita"
Remember that the tutorial is made for italian firmware, so u must search a firmware for your country.

I have the O2X from Fido. I flashed FR19 and I haven't had any issues.
yea you cannot brick a phone just with a theme! .. install a custom rom like cyanogen or you can download the stock rom too from somewhere in the net!
P990HN and P990 are one and the same.

i am brazilian trying to root the phone to use last ROM GB or ICS... but it's really complicated to root + install CWM + ROM... as i could see we have to create a new USB cable!!!!!!! It's really complicated, i'd have to pay somebody in a shop to creat the cable for me... as i have no idea about this kinda things...
so my questios:

- could somebody tell me exactly how to install CWM in P925 (as the tutorials here are for whom already understand ALL about it and it's not my case i am still learning lonely just reading here in XDA
- could somebody tell me a good GB ROM for the Thirll?????

ROOT: Download SuperOneClick.

As for GB, they are in the Development Section for the Thrill...
Root the phone is very easy Hombre, take slowly, don't worry about it, you should look for a little bit in this forum there are many ways to do it
Hi guys , i'm new here and noob to android, how can i enter the recovery mode ? something like a bios for pc , i want to install GB 2.3.4 v20n because i cant root it on 2.2.2 , i don't know why but gingerbreak apk wont work. Anyways i want gingerbread installed , i cant wait no more for that stupid branded update for gb (tried to update from the phone and it says i have the last version 2.2.2 it pisses me OFF X( ) . And i want it rooted for overclock because i'm disappointed by the performance of the phone(modern combat 3 and shadowgun lag ) i thought that the phone wont lag on games like this so that's why i'm trying to root and flash to gb of course. I followed all the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236 and at the last but one step i think i'm stuck , the lg mobile support tool appears and i cant update the phone , it says "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update." So i cant update , i changed the country and it wont work . What should i do please tell me ? i have 2.2.2 v10b. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I hope you got, that this was a thread in O3D Optimus 3D Forum... Anyway, if you want a stock Rom, just use R&D tool (use search) and read the first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771 and then read my reply http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22237122&postcount=449 and you will be able to flash v20x. Being noob doesnt mean u ll get a step by step guide, so do some reading pls. If you want a custom rom, also go to first thread, download the pack, use blackjack to root or search for root v10x where x is your version and then use CWM.exe (or similar) to install CWM or do it by RomManager! Then download a custrom from Dev Section and havbe fun

U CANNOT overclock V20n! You need Nova ROM to do this, and this is only 2.2... So better think about it again Root your phone now, and then install Zeus, it is v20n, but modified, to be faster...
why not ? set cpu does not work on gb ?
