Ps3 to force firmware update to play some new games!

I mentioned this when the first hacks started coming out that were restricted to the firmware.it looks like sony is going to be forcinggamers to update their firmware to play at least 1 new game and probably will on more. The psfreedom/psgroove days may not last long.

Without be reading anything extra, doesn't the PS3 already make you update to a new FW w/ new games or playing online? I think it's some new PSP game that's going to make you update your PSP FW....right?

MOH game will force you to update and so will the new Gran Turismo and im sure more are coming too

Yes your right about Sony forcing updates with new games. But that will not stop psgroove / freedom. This is just the beginning. They are working on cfw. It also won't be long until something like wiiscrub comes along and rids of the update partition. Or they find a way to patch the game. Best case scenario stay away from new games until they figure out the kinks.

It fits in the evo forum because u can use the evo to jailbreak your ps3. Probly should just be in the Android forum tho cuz u can use a lot of android phones for it. But that's y when u hack a console its good to keep a 2nd cheaper model to play online and for situations like this. But I guarantee that there will be a workaround for the update.

it's not even like this is new news. There have already been some games that required the first 3.42 update. Here you are worrying about 3.50? lol

The reason i posted it here is because as mentioned 1) you can use the EVO to apply the PSgroove/psfreedom hack and many on this forum DO.Could i have posted it in general Addroid sure i could have however not all android phones can be used so i guess under troll reasoning it shouldnt be posted there either and 2) "A. general is for general information. you have something to share? post it there." The purpose of a general forum is to allow you to post "general" information. As this is General Information and does actually apply to some evo owners i will ignore the people not intelligent enough to get it. I am all for people posting in the right sections however in this case the trolls need to get over it.
Now back on topic It took 4 years to get a working hack for PS3 and they still havent gotten around the new firmware. while it may be possible that they can work around other aspects to get these new games running ... there isnt much of a track record thus why i used the word MAY. I wouldn't hold my breath on everything working out at least quickly and in that case how many people are going to wait around for months to pick up a new game especially some of the highly anticipated ones (gt 5, MOH, rumored COD and assasins creed).
The big difference with this new plan is it doesn't just require you to update to play online, It requires you to update to play period and that the update is actually built into the disk (versus being online which is currently used for updates and can currently be circumvented.) This is not how updates are currently handled and it is going to start showing up on games coming out in the very near future.

Yeah its been done before, not with all the games but I expect this to be more common now with the jailbreaking.
Heard the new MoH isn't that good though. Anyone play it?

Probably just keep this going and update the original post so the board doesn't get full with crap. Only problem is the apps get released at 2:00am my time. I probably won't have the thread updated till about 6:00am CST.

Always good to have as a reminder, and maybe reviews. I downloaded it on my N1 today, haven't had time to try on my Xoom. But free is good, so the worst that can happen is I don't like it and have to blow it away. My only complaint, after rooting tonight and having to reinstall the Amazon apps is that it only lets you download and install one at a time, quite the PITA since I had over a weeks worth of stuff to catch up on. 12 downloads, one at a time.

Today's app is Fruit Ninja but it does not appear to be the version designed for Tegra processors.

Bots Vs Bugs Tower Defense

Long time lurker, first time poster.
A friend and I have been working on this game for the last few months, and we figured you'd like to see it/check it out. Right now its Honeycomb only, but we are working on getting it running on 2.1+.
It's called Bots Vs Bugs, but I can't post the links, since this is my first post.

Been waiting for this! Awesome sauce!

I've been waiting for this thing to come out since I got my XOOM and was pretty excited yesterday. However I must agree it does seem pretty slow. It took way to long to download 1 magazine and I even had problems with pages never becoming clear until after I skipped a page or 2 then went back. Overall I still love it, when the pages are clear they are more crisp and clean than nook or kindles magazines and the obvious fact there are a lot more magazines to choose from.

Downloaded ist on my stock xoom yesterday. It sluggish atm and the interactive parts of national geographic arent working. And I cant find the free magazine issues. Are they only available for Us customers?

they are not in store. They all appear at the first time you open app

Really? Because when they updated it about 3 weeks ago they said in the update notes an actual honeycomb release is coming very soon.
Early june is when they said it, again.

Yes, I noticed this several days ago, and i'm sure they removed it because they were sick of the low ratings since it didn't scale correctly.
The letters were cut off at the bottom so u could only see 3/4 of it, people kept down rating it because of that. E looked like F unless you physically moved the tile out to see the bottom.
And it still says this on the market page:
"We are actively working on improving the Words With Friends as much as possible. Players can look forward to expecting a Honeycomb version soon."
So like i said, I'm sure we will beable to download it again once it's fixed and an official tablet version is released. And yes, that update notification was a month ago like i said.

I submitted a ticket to voice my opinion. Us Honeycombers need to speak up if we want more app support.

You are 0-2 my friend. Take a look at the reviews in the market. I went 20 deep and all bad reviews came from phone owners.

What? Why are you being a ****, I'm just stating what ive seen. Ive been playing wwf since launch of the xoom and I have noticed bad reviews... Go easy... and yes I'm one of the several people that emailed them about the scaling issue and they didn't seem to want to fix it until they released an actual tablet optimized version... which is why I believed it was removed.

We need more productive thinking like that. Android is behind in the app/game market. iOS has some really well developed apps that we will never see unless we speak up.

Yep, I hope the honeycomb one comes out soon like it says!

It was cut off at the bottom, but it was still playable. I don't see why they had to remove support while they get their act together for honeycomb.

I opened my app today and it says "An upgrade is available, click OK to upgrade" (no other options). I click OK and am redireted to the Market, where I am unable to upgrade because my device is no longer supported. I go back ot the app and am greeted with the same message telling me to "upgrade" with no "cancel" or "later" option, just "OK"
The box refuses to go away (back button doesn't work either) so I'm unable to play. This is utterly moronic.

It would become more of a priority to the developers if they see the number of Honeycomb users upset about this. Shoot them a quick email and let them know how you feel.

Someone from a different forum suggested going to getjar to download it. It working on my unrooted xoom. I tried to post the link but it said I didn't have enough post to.

Here's the latest 3.52 apk pulled from my hero. It works fine on my xoom (with the usual cropped bottom row), but at least I can still play until they get it sorted out.
If this is not allowed feel free to remove it, but as it's free in the market I see no issue posting it.

Maybe just me, but I'm waiting for a good version just for our phones much less for our tablets. Never have I seen such big companies release such buggy crap. Its pathetic. A tablet version would be awesome tho.

Wanting more honeycomb apps is fine but make sure you complain to the right people. If zynga is for sure already working on a honeycomb version then bugging them is useless. Bug the companies or devs who haven't considered honeycomb yet. If the note zynga placed on the market isn't enough hopefully this youtube is
