As the title says i have a little problem when I try to install MiniCM6. I get an error at the beginning What says my baseband is incompatible, update to xxx15. It's ok, but I flashed xxx15 baseband 3 times and tried to install MiniCM6, but I couldn't.
Then I edited the script and removed baseband check but I got error Status 6. What should I do?

Hi, i'm trying to install cyanogenmod on my Galaxy using this guide, but when i try to load 'Hardcore's SpeedMod Kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery' with heimdall i get this error 'Tar header contained an invalid file size'. I received the same error when i earlier tried the FuguRoot method. I'm running windows 7 32-bit.
Any ideas what is going wrong here? Thanks!
So was eventually abel to get it to work by using an older build of heimdall. And i flashed the 'ClockworkMod Recovery' successfully, but now of course, my galaxy is stuck on the boot screen. Great!
Please help, someone.
So i take that as a no then?
Sounds like you're having the exact same problem as me. Tried following the wiki, and first got stuck in a loop. Then after a reboot and a new try got an assert error. Then, after removing the assert somehow got cyanogen's recovery-image and seemingly installed cyanogen successfully from this, but now I'm stuck at boot.
The new Heimdall seems to want a tar-package with a full firmware replacement.
OK, so a week ago I had a completely vanilla Samsung Captivate (AT&T) running 2.2. I decided to to try a new ROM after hearing good things about 2.3 so I used this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370235&postcount=1
I downloaded and installed I897UCKK1 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with Bootloaders. Everything was working fine, except that I have no 3G service. I assume this is because I don't have a modem installed, hence the second post in that thread. However, I can't figure out how to install the modem.
Since I'm on I897UCKK1, I figured I would try to install the KK1 modem. I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919306 to try to figure out how to install the modem. I first tried using CWM but that didn't work because it said my phone wasn't rooted, so I method 2 but when I select the zip file (of the modem) to install, it says "E:signature verification failed".
I thought this was because my phone wasn't rooted, so I tried rooted my phone using SuperOneClick 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) and that went fine. So then I figured I could use the features in CWM and I tried "Install ROM from SD Card" (using the default options, which was only "Wipe Dalvik Cache"). However, when I do that, the phone reboots and I get the same thing with the E:signature verification failed.
I'm sure there's a very simple solution here that I'm missing since I'm new to this stuff. Also, when I try to boot into recovery mode for manual management from CWM, it says "E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)" and "E:signature verification failed" when it gets to the recovery screen.
About phone:
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKK1-CL614489
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UCKK1
Wi-fi works fine, but I have no service when I turn it off. Can anyone offer some help, please?
U have a kk1 modem already (Baseband Version in the About Phone). It installed when u Odined that kk1 firmware.
What u need to do is "Reset to default" your APN settings.
Go to Menu /Settings /Wireless and network /Mobile networks /Access Point Names / then Menu and then select "Reset to default". After that reboot and u should be good to go.
edit: U need a Kernel with CWM Recovery built into it in order to install .zip files.
If your wifi works, you have a modem. Under "About Phone" your Baseband Version is your modem version.
Can you make phone calls?
Under Network Settings, do you have an APN configured?
I knew it was gonna be something stupid like that... I went to APN and there was nothing listed, I reset to default and "ATT WAP" showed up. Everything works perfectly now.
Thank you both!
Reset your APN like4-2ndtwin said. As for modems the easiest method is flashing a kerneel with CWM and flashing a different modem. Some modems work better than others (depends on location). A good list is here. Hit the thanks button for Soggy if you found that page useful.
Lol 2 mins to late.
^ Lol.... we have crossed paths before like this...
Greetings. So I never had any issues when flashing new ROMs into my Galaxy S GT-I9000...until now.
Three days ago I went on and started reading topics explaining how to install Android 4.1.2 (Ive picked X-Bean 3.0). One of these topics mentioned I had to install Android 4.0.3 and after that I had to install Semaphore Kernel 1.3.0...and so I did. I've also did all the proper factory resets and cache wipes.
Everything was running smoothly, until I proceeded to install Android 4.1.2. When I went on and was trying to install it, an error message appeared saying the partition layout was different, so I chose the file again and when the phone booted up it kept rebooting endlessly. After that I used Darkys ROM to fix the issue and followed all the way until I ended with Android 4.0.3 again.
The curious thing is that I had flashed my father I9000 before and everything worked out and he has the 4.1.2 version working.
So after extensive search about how to fix the problem and trying the explained solutions, nothing seemed to work. Hence I decided to post here and ask if there's anything I missed or did wrong. If yes, I would be relly thankful if anyone could help me find a solution for it.
Resuming, these were the steps Ive followed until I ended up with Android 4.0.3:
1 - Enter CWM and make a Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache
2 - Install .zip from sdcard>ICS_4.0.3_MR1-RC4.2_I9000
3 - Install .zip from sdcard>Semaphore_ICS_1.3.0s
Thank you
EDIT:
I just installed a new Semaphore version (2.8.0), and now when I try to install X-Bean 3-0, the following message is shown:
"E: error in/sdcard/external_sd/Android 4.1.2.zip

Just install the 4.1.2 zip and then the right kernel without flashing ics before
Redownload the Rom zip and try again
Tell me back if it helped or not

So I tried that, and at first no error message displayed, but at like 2% of the progress bar the phone rebooted and is now stuck on the Semaphore logo, even before I installed it.
Hey there,
just tried to flash this ROM to my Ace.
I updated CWM to the required 6.0.5.3_1, wiped data/factory reset and formatted /system.
Everytime I try to install the .zip, I get the "installation aborted" message. No error code, no more information.
Would be awesome to get some help, cause i cant find this problem in the forum, only some with error codes.
I used an earlier version of CM on this device before trying to flash it now.
Greetings
Installed a non-modded version of CM now, which worked fine.
Getting the status 0 error now when installing the original CM gapps. Any solutions?

1. Are you using a CM11 compatible recovery?
2. Are you the complete files downloaded? or have you an unstabe internet connection?
Try to donwload the files again

I have flashed this phone with the same rom and everything went fine but when i flash it with the same rom its just goes to menu and says initsetup stopped working and the phone reboot.
