Laggy browser on ICSGS RC4.2 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My browser is horrible on RCS 4.2 of ICSGS using semaphore kernel latest one
and it happens with all kernels , the weird thing is videos of RC 4.0 don't show any lagg in browser ....what could be the problem ? ty

the browser works fine for me. But you can try installing Dolphin Browser HD if the stock browser is not working perfectly.

indeed dolphins browser is way better but videos still lag but not the videos of YouTube

Try Reinstalling Flash 11

Why dont you try google chrome? It still has a bug or two but it is blazing fast

I`m currently using RC 4.2 with semaphore kernel 0.8.0 and internet browser works just fine...recently I installed Google Chrome, works like a charm ! Try to fix permissions over CWM after installing a new kernel, or use This Tool ! Download the miui/cm7 one !

m8 , the browser is horrible :S i don't know how can you call it fine , try going to www.youm7.com and just try to pinch zoom ...let me know of the results ))) if it is smooth , then i have something wrong

Hi, I'm on RC 4.2 and Devil 14.2 kernel. I use Opera Browser and there is no lag using zoom in any page, included the one that you proposed.
You should try reflashing the rom as sometimes it gets better after reflashing.

+1 for the Opera Browser (not Opera mini, cause no desktop UA). Fast, no lag, not even on desktop browsing mode.
My favourite by far.

Skyfire Problems

Hi,
I installed Skyfire twice on my Captivate but doesn't play Flash on any flash site, any idea why?
Thanks
Flash works for me with it.... At least videos hahaha....
I installed Flash 10.1 on my phone through non market apps mod and I can play no problems.
But that browser is extremely laggy and buggy... ack....
Anyone suggest anything else?

[Q] [JVB, JVK, JV1] Browser Problem

Do you still (with JVB) have the problem that the browser stops scrolling after a few lines if you scroll fast?
My phone:
Galaxy S GT-i9000 (European version)
Firmware Version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVK
Kernel: 2.6.35.7
Buildnumber: GINGERBREAD.XWJVB
i have this "problem" since the first froyo FW. It's not GB related.

I didn't have this problem in Froyo (2.2 JPM and 2.2 JPY/JS8).
There are many users who even don't seem to have this problem in latest gingerbread build
The problem was noticable in earlier SGS2 videos as well
Here is a video showing this problem
I evidentally have this issue as well. Doesn't smooth scroll like in Froyo, it just seems to stop every few frames or so. My looks exactly like your video.
Phone Info:
Galaxy I9000M
2.3.3 Gingerbread (KC1 Bell Modem)
CF Root 2.7 (-w- CWM)
CRT-Off animation with Battery Mod
I am on official Gingerbread 2.3.3. and I don't have this problem. Scrolling is fast and smooth till the end.

Do you use the standard equipped stock browser in JVB?
Opera, Dolphin (HD/Mini), Miren, Firefox and others don't suffer from this problem.
same thing also for me :-/ i hate it

Is it possible to upload a video or at least post your firmware configuration?
I cannot believe this
So the issue that is present in JVK has been corrected in JVB?

Yes, i agree ! All the videos i saw with the GB have this problem on the browser
It's a feature
It is present in every SGS Gingerbread Rom. Doesn't seem to occur on SGS2 anymore.

you should work for Google!
I was really excited about the browser in Gingerbread until I realized the scrolling bug.
It seems super smooth and has great multi-touch, but the scrolling kills it!
If they fix it (which I hope they will eventually) then this will become a great browser. As it is, it's annoying and I prefer the latest Froyo browsers like ZSJPK to this.
I've noticed that the problem occurs only in landscape view.

strange, i also don't have this issue right now.
flashed couple of times 2.3.3 JVB in the past days and i recall at some point i had the scroll "bug/feature", but now it's gone?
running JVB 2.3.3 XEE via Odin 1.7 & CF Root 3.1 for XEE
I have tried flashing multiple times, but this problem remains. Does anyone have a fix?

internet browsing big problem

hi everybody. i want to show you my problem during internet navigation, hoping someone can help me. usually, tapping on (1, in the picture) should appear a menu (2, always in the picture) that shows the possible choices.
on my galaxy note, when i tap on (1) the browser always crashes, because it can't open that menu.
i've tried dolphin hd, opera, firefox and the stock browser, and every browser crashes, so i can say it's a rom problem.
can somebody help me solving this problem?
P.S. i'm on GB LC1 pre-rooted rom, but i don't remember exactly from which post i've downloaded it, and franco kernel 10
or its a website issue
Works fine on my unrooted latest GB.

Try t.zedge.net
It's the mobile version and working for me on darkyrom 3.4.1 with speedmod 2k-12
i'm sorry, i have explained myself badly. that issue happens on every site, in both mobile and desktop version on each browser
That's weird. Have you tried wiping the cache and dalvik cache in CWM?
try using an alternate browser like, opera, mercury, dolphin or skyfire
Could also be caused by the theme you flashed(assuming). There was also an issue before w/ ICS Domination theme related to browsing.

Just as you said. It is a rom problem. Try to flash another GB rom. You can try Chrack's rom, DarkyROM, CheckROM, Cassie's XtraLiteRom. I tried all of these roms and have no problem with web browsing.

ICS Browser on JB?

Is there any way to get the stock ICS browser to work on JB.
I am currently loving the ICS browser running on my JB Xoom because I get to use flash.
The Chrome browser does not support flash and I find it to be slow compared to the ICS browser.
I pulled the .akp out of the Xoom rom but it will not install on my Nexus 7 for some reason.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
(I was using Dolphin on the Nexus 7 for flash but today it updated and permanently disabled flash)
Read this thread , you'll need root.
Use Opera Mobile, it's not only faster than Chrome and stock ICS browsers, it's more compliant on HTML5test and supports flash, even on Jellybean (as long as you have the Flash player APK to install)

I tried to use Opera Mobile and it isn't stable at all on my nexus 7. For example, tried loading msn. com and it crashes immediately. I tried rebooting after install and it still loads the page and crashes out. I tried reinstalling and still no luck getting the Opera browser to be stable.
Yeah I gave Opera a try and it crashed when I tried using Flash on CNN. Old browser has been going strong since putting it on and following the directions in the other thread
Perhaps you could try using ICS Browser+?
ICS Browser+ was reported to crash in the other thread about chrome/aosp browser

[Q] Adobe Flash on CM10.1 nightly

I know that Adobe Flash is no longer supported on this release of Android, however just wondering if anyone has found a good setup to still use it effectively with the CM10.1 nighty ROM? I have installed the last 11.1 version of Adobe Flash but at least on most sites it is flaky at best. Is there a better 4.2 ROM that it works on? Any recomendation on best browser to try? Any recomended tweaks?
Thanks.

I've had pretty good success with using the stock browser and running flash in full screen mode. Incidently, after using full screen mode, you can toggle back to regular mode and flash will work. Kind of weird I know. I am also using one of the most recent flash 11.1 updates as well.

I'm not having any luck with stock browser or any other browser, playback is shaky and games do not work much at all. Are you overclocking CPU and or GPU and if so, what values?
Thanks.
