I guess he means recording sound from both parties in a call
yup zorkman got it right...
in no-2 way call recording...the voice of the person on the other end is too low...
while in 2-way call recording, both parties have proper sound volume recorded
I've tried the MIUI ROM and it comes with in-built 2-way call recording, have you tried that? Check out Moon101's ROM for example.
free androrec works fine for me on rooted stock 2.3.4 rom
can anybody upload "record my call" latest version(3.7)??
I cannot download frm market(very slow edge connection).
also it aint available on any hosting sites
Those apps are only recording microphone...
"Record My Call
Please be kind and do not give 1 star if the app does not work on your phone.
Currently the app does not work on some phones. Please go to my website for phone compatibility (http://nathanielkh.wordpress.com/android-app/record-my-call/) before install it. You can also download the apk from the same website if Android Market does not provide the link.
Use speaker to get a better record quality during call.
Description:
This application has a basic purpose to record all your call (incoming and outgoing). Please be noticed that due to limitation of Android phone (hardware and software), this program only can record from microphone. Please turn on the loudspeaker during conversation to get clear voice from the other side. All conversations are recorded under file “RecordMyCall” file in memory card."
Same for the others.
Hey guys,
I'm interested in getting an application to record room audio, like a meeting or class, for example. What would you recommend?
Thanks!

Hi
I‘m using VirtualRecorder to record my lesson during class. Good quality and can convert to mp3 too. Also it has a mic preamp which is useful on situations when you are far from the subject Get it from the market, it‘s free.
As for 2-way call recording, from my experience on linux, it must be supported in the kernel
On the Galaxy S2 forums you can find more info regarding the subject.
I dont think Nvidia will soon (if ever ) release such feature. They are late even on the ICS kernel 3.0*
Also for a Dev porting it means getting the APIs working and coding the right baseband driver.

So there's no conversation recording app for this phone?
I use record my call, works great. Using the "default" option under tips and tricks as source. My own voice is lower than the incomming, but can still hear it clearly. Dj m 1.1 w spicas sr3-2

hey devs, n members, plz give some reply..
I'd like to ask too...
Is there a kernel with 2 way call recording?
nobody?
I did use a call recording app once and 2-way recording worked out of the box.
Was using the Stock CM7 kernel then.
Never tried (nor interested in trying) with newer ROMs.
Go ahead and check for yourself if it still works.

I've been wondering how many people would not switch to gingerbread unless call recording is fully functional.
Im one of them....
Lets hope this catches the DEV's eyes' if the numbers are big

It's useful for times when you need to recall some information that someone has mentioned during the call session.
Good to have but not necessary to have.
I don't mind it, but it has to be off by default. Recording every single call as some phone.apk do is ludicrous.

Edit: The poll is bias. Maybe to improve the chance for devs to take this up, you can have:
It's a must! I won't upgrade until it is implemented

Yes, It's good to have but not necessary
It doesn't matter whether I have it or not
Isn't the above more compellings?
I've already rolled back from jpk to jpy because of this
this feature is a must, with on/off rec button
Call record is a must have. =)
+1 call recording is very useful
It's really needed for me!
+1 call recording!
+1 I need a good quality call recording
everyone needs it in a while! flashed back to jpy for this!
Couldn't do my job without it.
is there still no Gingerbread ROM/kernel that supports call recording?
is anyone aware of the current state of development?
is there any?

Last I heard the one country that allowed it, didnt add it to the last update. To be Honest I dont think it is a good idea. While useful, all it takes is one person to find out they were recorded without consent and boom lawsuits everywhere. The main reason I never add it to my roms

Depends on the country.. North of the 49th, we are allowed to record calls if one party is aware that the call is being recorded (ie the caller). would love to see this feature incorporated into a rom, as I have not been able to find a working app that will do it properly.
still no dev on introducing call recording on ginger?
Bump. I sure could use this feature. Worked great on Continuum 4. Wish I still had it on GB roms. :-(
Wont work on gB for a while. The Korean phone we got it off of had froyo at the time so we could port it. The phone doesn't have 2.3.5 GB so it will be very hard to port

From the speaker? or real recording.
One thing I noticed with the release of Darkys Rom 10.2 is Darky said he nearly got call recording working but ran out of time and left for 2 weeks holiday.
The issue of recording a conversation tends to be very complex legally, with the statutes changing from country to country (and even state to state). Some countries/states permit secret recording, others require at least one participant to be aware they are being recorded, others require all participants to be informed.
As Google works to defragment Android, this is a legal morass they will likely wish to avoid therefore I doubt we will see call recording as part of AOSP in the furure.
However some vendors do include it in their own ROM versions, especially those intended for regions with more permissive laws about Call Recording. Also, some custom ROMs include the feature...so shop around.
Isn't the voice recorder in the Nirtrality app (from market)??
Otherwise.. I don't understand you
I dont think he cares about it being legal in his country or any other app capable to record calls.
He probably ask about a way to have integrated call recording on samsung roms without any other external app.
We could have it on froyo because samsung released 2.2.1 on some asian countries with that function, but apparently that country didnt get 2.3.4 yet so nobody could do the same for samsung gingerbread roms.

I tried several kernels, just only speedmod kernel can support this function with "record my call" app which can be found in market. Maybe, this isn't reall recording too, but the voice can be accepted.
I currently have CM7 installed and I was wondering whether call recording is possible.
Thanks.

You have to use some third party apps that will surely record the calls. Try searching it in the market.

Why? So if my mom calls me while I'm driving and wants to give me a phone number to call later (for whatever), it's illegal for me to record the call so I don't have to type or write the number?
I have a call recorder installed but due to hardware can only record from Mic. works great in speaker mode, otherwise caller's voice I'd quiet but still audible.

CM7 will never support call recording due to the laws in some countries. 3'rd party apps would be the best way to go for you.

Putting the call recording support into GB roms is not that easy.
First they have to decompile arm binary library files to see what's going on the source code.
After that, they can implement it.
They say they won't implement Call Recording due to legal issues. That's pretty BS (At least for Galaxy S)
I bet, they won't because they can't.
Working with arm binaries require high level of programming skills.
If you are considering laws, you would fix only library files and would keep the recording program apart. Therefore users will be responsible who install any call recording program.
Again I bet, once call recording supported GB library files released by samsung (as they did before for froyo of Chinese version galaxy S), everyone who says "illegal", will add those files into their roms
Hi all,
As asked in the subject, is the One better than the OneX, regarding call recording?
I have a OneX at the moment and I remember I had to follow this guide to enable call recording:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663642
While that approach worked, it was hacky and a little sub-optimal.
I read there were devices that had a much more integrated support for call-recording in custom kernels/roms...for some reason the OneX never made it to that point, however.
Does anybody know where the situation stands for the One?
Does recording work out of the box? Should I root/patch?
Thanks!
Yes it is. Sound is good in every aspect of this phone. Probably the strongest part of the phone.

No.
As far as I'm aware, and I've searched high and low, two way line recording isn't working on the non-rooted One. Yet.
No no no no!
I meant that it should be possible with rooting and similar ways, should have said that. My bad, sorry.

Ok, so rooting is needed. No big deal.
But with that, do we have two-way call recording support (not talking about the apps, that I know where to find)??
Any source where I can read more about this related to the One?? I tried to look in the forum but I didn't find anything...
Thanks!
No clue boss , I don't record calls, I swear a lot. Not a pleasing playback.
