Doesn't seem that I can get this to mount in CM9 ICS, running the Bricked version from feb02. Any similar experiences or possible fixes out there?
Yes...cm9 still doesnt support usb auto mounting...to mount, connect your TP through USB. Then,
1. Reboot
2. Go to recovery
3. Go to Mounts and Storage
4. Go to Mount USB Storage.
Exiting from that menu will unmount your device..

You have to use MTP to mount your TP to a computer in ICS.

Hello,
recently I flash my O2x with stable CM7 and from then I have issue with usb mounting. I plug the usb on the pc and a USB composite device appears with problem (device can't start). This happens also if enable/disable usb debugging or press the button for the usb storage support. I have try the 173 nightly same thing. To be sure that there is no problem with the pc I have try it on 2 different laptops.
Also to be sure that is CM7 issue and not my mobile I have restore a backup with the stock rom and everything works perfect.
Do we have any idea what is the problem?
Have you installed an LG Mobile driver pack?
in 2 from the 3 pc was installed (the third one is from a friend that has a LG laptop(!) and HTC phone)
I have a similar problem with CM7. I flashed first with NB 157 and now I'm with the latest one but I've never figured how to mount the phone as a usb storage. I use the default CM mounting points. SD card is mounted as /sdcard and internal is /emmc titanium backup, rom manager and all other software works fine with the sdcard, but every time I try to mount it as storage the windows popup that the USB Device cannot be recognized. I've installed the latest drivers from LG'w website. Also I've tried on 2 different PC's both with windows 7 but no luck. Also I've read somewhere in the forums that Dual Mount SD Widget can mount the SD card, i purchased it from the market but it doesn't work.
This is generally an issue with cm7 based roms. It's only reported on Windows and I haven't seen this problem in Linux.
If you have CWM, use it to mount your disk from recovery
Thank you for the tip but I've tried mounting usb storage in recovery and it doesn't work on Windows 7 64 bit. Also I've reinstalled the LG drivers but no luck so far.
Actually in recovery the OS recognize the phone and installs about 4-5 drivers including the Mass Storage one. Unfortunately there is one unidentified device in a list and when it fail to recognize it doesn't mount the phone as storage.

I'm thinking this is a driver issue. Any chance of getting your hands on a linux?
Anyway, CWM mount works for me in win7_64. It's weird why it doesn't on your setup. I've read of USB tethering issues on GB roms like cm7, but not on stock-based GB roms. Could be a driver issue fixed deep within the kernel to work on the specific board.
Try using topogigi's or paul's rom. USB mount works on both.
I've tried it on Ubuntu and it works like charm. Actually both emmc and sdcard are recognized and mounted as separate flash drives.
I'm seeing some mounting fixes in here: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p990
This might fix mount problems on next latest release. Haven't tried it yet though. You might want to check the kang thread if someone built from the latest sources
What do you mean on next release? Everything you see there is in #177

My bad. I meant the next nightly release at the time of my post above. I'm now on nightly_177 but haven't tried mount on Windows. Works as always in Linux
I can confirm that cm7.1 stable through 177 the usb mounting doesn't work under windows but only under linux.
Does anyone know where i can put it as a bug?
Its working for me, had a problem when I tried it first, after that, power cycle phone, reinstalled the SD card and after that everything worked...it might be also that I reinstalled the LG drivers yesterday before doing this.

It's a difficult one, as it doesn't affect everyone. My USB mounting is still fine.
For what it's worth, I'm using LG United Mobile Driver v3.4
Hi at all.
my sgs i9000 don't start anymore. After pressing the power button, the SamsungLogo appears and disappears after few seconds.
then again, and again. No bootanimation appears!
if i boot into recovery mode, this errormessage was printed:
update media, please wait
E:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdate_media:cant mount sdcard:
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.

if i try to format internal sd card or wipe data/factory reset, the same message appears.
Downloadmodus can be started!
The phone was not rooted before. the firmware was the last published by samsung for sgs i9000.
If i connect via usb to the computer, my computer can detect the usb device. just "Unknown Device".
I tryed many usb driver. but there is no problem with the drivers, because other sgs i9000 phones were recognized successfully.
I plugged in another sgs i9000 and the driver starts installation itself. On the defect phone, nothing happens except as Unknown device recognized.
I also try different usb cables and other Pc's.
On mac and linux, dmesg says: "unable to enumerate usb device".
Has anyone a solution for my problem?
best regards, michael

Every Android phone has the recovery mode, its the stock recovery then, and its not neccessary to root the phone to get recovery mode.
E.g. I've rooted my phone through recovery mode

this is the only solution you will need:
card sd 2-4gb
doawload rom
root the rom
instal ICS 4.0.4 like that in video
AND THE PHONE WILL WORK PERFECTLY
ypu will not be able to use no more the internal memory
But it doesn't work for me, because i cant connect the phone to my computer, i wroted in first post.
I've created a 2 parted sdcard like in the video, but the phone does nothing with it.
are there any solutions how to root the phone without computer that includes odin/heimdall? eg in use of an update.zip in recovery mode?
Has anyone any idea how to solve it?
Some time ago I dropped and broke my Samsung Galaxy S, I've since gotten a replacement but there are still some files on the internal SD that I want to recover. I should be able to do this with ADB - but USB debugging doesn't seem to be enabled on device.
I thought entering recovery enables this - but I'm basing this on my cyanogenmod 10 install on my working device, whilst I should have stock 2.3.6 installed on the broken one (this rom specifically).
I believe I have the stock SGS recovery, but I can't say for sure.
Anyone have any clue on what I could do to get usb debugging working either in the OS or in recovery?
depending on what CWM you have installed you can go in mount and storage and there mount USB storage....then it connects the internal SDcard to your pc.
On my windows pc, sometimes the internal sd card mounts to pc only with connecting the phone to it. I am not sure anymore under what circumstances i got this working. Perhaps it was in download mode or in recovery mode....also could be that this was when i only short press the power button when phone is down but USB connected.....and if i remember right it depended also on which driver were installed and that sure kies is not running....but perhaps you give it a try?
Hi Friends,
In order to root and install CWM, I flashed PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT4-OXA-4.93.6-signed . The installation was successful and the device got rooted. But now I am not able to connect my phone to desktop or laptop in USB mass storage mode. When I do the same, only charging starts but not the USB connection. Just before performing the flashing, USB mass storage was working perfectly fine.
In brief, I followed below steps
1) start the phone in recovery mode
2) select install zip from sdcard
3) select the clock work mod zip file and start flashing process
4) Go back to main menu and reboot the device
I repeated the above process one more time but still no luck. I am new to rooting and still in learning phase. Galaxy Note is running on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 XXLT4. Please help me out with this issue.
Thanks in Advance,
Nikhil Bhalwankar
Try to boot into recovery and choose mounts and storage. Then mount usb and connect to pc. Check if the drives are mounted.

Problem is now resolved. I had to fully remove kies and USB driver. Then install latest version of kies which installs unified USB driver. This resolved the issue.
i have rooted my micromax e313, now
1. while going to recovery mode it stucks in a loop
2. i cant connect my phone via usb
3. sim cards are not detected.
please help to fix this
I'm running the latest TWRP recovery on stock/unlocked/rooted (Sprint, if it matters). I know our devices don't have the USB Mass Storage option/functionality by default, and I certainly don't mind MTP for regular everyday usage. But obviously, when trying to mount USB storage in TWRP, it says this device doesn't have that capability. Any solution and/or workaround for that? With both of my previous devices, the E4GT and the Nexus S4G (which both used USB Mass Storage as opposed to MTP), the ability to mount to my PC from recovery was a lifesaver on more than one occasion. Any help would be appreciated.

what do you need to mount the sdcard for?
you can also mount it in adb or fastboot i believe if you need to. there are also programs that will let you mount it easy if you don't know how to mount it manually.
