Sd card may be fried - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Hi guys,
I have using these forums since i got my milestone. I really want to thank everyone for the unending support for this phone. Its really amazing that this community has been so nice and that so many talented have either hellped developed or have developed from their work.
That being said. I have a request for anyone that can help me. It appears my phones sd card reader is fried. 2 different cards have been tried both confirmed to have contents on my laptop. My phone says no sd card is present.
Any suggestions? If it is the cardreader how much is it to replace do you think?
Can i do it myself?
Thank you all again.

Try cleaning the sd contact points on the phone itself by blowing in it or with compressed air
This is because the gold contacts are very sensitive and small amounts of dirt may compromise the functionally of the SD card
Hope that helps

Micro SD

Is there any way in which we can add a MicroSD card slot to the diamond?

I'm only specululating, but by desoldering the internal memory chip on the mainboard and resoldering to a micro-sd cardslot, it could be possible perhaps. I would bet, the interface is the same and the chip on the motherboard is nothing else, but an unhoused, normal micro-sd card - don't know it for sure of course.
But if possible at all, handling the tiny contacts of smd-chips is only possible with special equipement, a lot of experience and the risk of destroying the mainboard.
What about attaching microSD reader through extUSB?

That is possible. Discussed in another thread here.
So far, can only be used for flashing ROM, using an external card reader.
Diamond is missing drivers for accessing the card in WM6.1.
just bin the diamond
go buy a pro....
did you not know this before you brought it
Micro-SD
I saw a cable which is basically like the computer's usb extension cable but only shorter. It was under the phones category and my guess is that it should work and not just for flashing the rom!
So I'm looking in ebay now to get one of those little suckers and try it to confirm if my theory is right or wrong!
Laters guys
Hi Guys
Let´s face it. HTC could have build this device with a Micro-SD.
They are just learning from Apple. upgrade it slowly. next year, they surrely release a "upgraded" version, with a 5M camera and a MicroSD card, more Ram...

Joao

First of all, they could not have build this device with a micro-sd slot without getting thicker. And as the most of us want a thin and small device they made all right IMHO.
And why the hell should they learn from Apple??? How many PPC's did Apple build???
Like I said, I think they made a very good job with the Diamond.
So far....
I want a diamond with microsd
The touch pro is too fat for me (size and money).

Adding an SD slot would have added about 1mm to the thickness. Hardly a great amount in the grand scheme of things. However, it might have drained the battery even further, so maybe that's why it was left out.

What you describe sounds alot like a fake card there is a card checking app that checks the write cycle but for the life of me i can't remember where I found it I think it was in the accessories section

Certainly sounds like a fake card. Check it with the program
H2testw1.4
It really is a false economy buying the cheapo cards on Ebay now when guaranteed ones are so cheap on AMAZON.
Enjoy your SGS,
MAK.
But, i don't have problems with the H2testw, actually i still having the test files created by the program, exist another way to check if the card is a fake or not??
thanks in advance

[Q] Does the Captivate support Class 10 MicroSDHC?

"SD Card blank or has unsupported filesystem" --arghh
I recently bought a Class 10, 16gb card from Patriot and RMA'ed it because it kept declaring itself damaged sometimes (although it did work for weeks at a time). Now the new card they shipped me doesn't work at all in my Captivate.
It seems to work in everything except my Captivate (which is where I actually need it to work). It works in my father's Motorola Bravo, in my Canon Camera, and in my computer's SD card reader.
But when I put it in my Captivate, it'll say "SD Card blank or has unsupported filesystem". When I try to format it, it won't actually do anything. Sometimes it won't read the card at all, it'll be like I never inserted it.
My Captivate works perfectly with all the 2gb cards I have which are probably Class2's. I'm clueless what is wrong.
Some class 10 cards will not work well in phones. Sorry mate.
It's certainly seeming like that's the case. Oh well. At least I can use it in my camera.
Are class 6 cards ok to use with a Captivate? Is that the highest class that's fully supported?
Works just dandy in my cappy...

Did you try formatting with your computer, then inserting into phone? Used to have a phone that would only take card that way.
I've tried formatting on the computer both through windows and the SD card formatting utility from the SD card group. I've tried everything... my captivate hates that card even though my computer and father's phone have zero issues with it.

Nope. You risk voiding your warranty using pretty much anything on this site.

You may want to try using a PC and a card reader, then format fat32

Axon Mini - SD card slot

Hi all. I bought an Axon Mini recently, and although I'm very pleased with it (great spec, obscenely good value), I can't actually work out how to open the SD card slot. There's no way of getting a finger nail under it and jamming a sharp point into the very tiny hole at the top of the flap doesn't do anything either. There's no manual with the phone, and as far as I can see nobody on the internet has yet asked this question.
I think the Elite also has a similar slot so perhaps somebody's had some experience with this?
Thanks in advance for any tips!
What do you mean? I own an Elite and I just did what everyone else does, used the SIM ejection tool and the tray popped out, does the Mini have a different design?
I also own a Mini. The SD Card occupies one of the sim slots. When you eject the sim holder the larger slot can take the MicroSD card.
anyone can help me make my zte mini google phone? I bought I in China..
