how can I refresh the music player so it will display the music on the sd card?

Which music player do you mean? The built-in one?
The media scanner which is initiated right after boot or after unplugging it from the PC should usually do this automatically.

Poweramp lets you store your music on an SD card and read it from there...
No problems
All my music (and films etc) are on the external SD card. I have no problems.

Hi everyone. I've got a micro sd card reader for my P7310 which appears to work great. However, when I select a music track from an album it plays only that track and doesn't continue to the next one automatically. That's with using the built in player and dice player. Does anyone know of a player that will play an album from an sd card reader in its entirety automatically?
Cheers
Is there a reason that my music shows up twice I'm my music apps? Thanks!

Not sure of the reason but with poweramp you can manually choose the folders it uses. You'll see the duplicates and just untick one of them, bloody annoying!

Yes I am.

Or maybe had the songs in your internal storage and then moved them to the exteranl SD card?
I had the issue. It is because your music player gets music from both sdcards, but the external is also pinked within the internal. Let me explain
Internal storage is located in : /sdcard
External storage is located in : /sdcard2
But, external storage is also located in /sdcard/ext_sd
So when your music player scans music from your /sdcard directory, it also sees the music in ext_sd as it is linked within it!
The solution I have found that worked for me is :
Rename your music folder with a dot before it ( ex: Music becomes .Music )
Create a shortcut to your .Music folder in your sdcard root.
Perform a clear data from your music player and let it rescan

That makes sense. I have my music on the external SD card. Using the HTC stock music player, I am not seeing my songs duplicated. I have a "Music" folder on the external SD card, but I do not have a "Music" folder in the internal storage. That may be the reason I don't have duplicates.

What folder does my music need to be in? No music on my SD card shows up on my music player
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda app-developers app
Create a folder named music and put it in there. It should show up. If not, make a folder named media, then open that and make a folder inside media named music, and put your files in there.

As long as there isn't a file called .nomedia in it, your phone should find music in pretty much any folder. That being said, if you're using the stock music player on ICS, make sure that MotoCast process isn't frozen. The stock music player is dependent on it for some reason, even though it doesn't appear to be the same as the MotoCast program that can be downloaded from the Play Store.

Check in the settings of Apollo for searching, if not, perhaps the music is only being saved/accessible by using the app, so move the music to a separate folder on the root of your desired storage and check again? It's working fine for me having the UK top 40 in a folder on my SD card, it's all read fine..
also check if you have .nomedia file in your music folder perhaps
The music files are located on external sdcard under mp3.
I try to copy some of music to another place but don't help.
.nomedia is not excited on external sdcard I under mp3
When I go to tubemate select a video and click on save as mp3 then flash a ROM the music is not showing but under Video Player I see the music video that I save as mp3 format.
Maybe it help to know when I was having my neo and the music are it was not showing I change the mp3 ending to m4a and it was working but now dont work.

Buy the song in .mp3 format, copy to sd card in sdcard1>music. Problem solved
Alright, so even with the EXT SD card "fix" to allow r/w, no music app will read the music stored on it( or even pictures/movies), it will only read the internal memory, permissions seem fine, so what could this be? Can I work around it?
Just a slight annoyance, not a big deal, just prefer it on the external!

That's odd. The stock music app and ES file explorer both play my music on the external sd card fine.
Okay so it seems the phone doesn't like my music organized on the external. I organize my music by artist/album/songs in the music folder. I went on a hunch and just dumped all the songs under Music, reboot and boom. All my music is there. Odd right? No issue on the internal with subfolders. Also pictures on the external in subfolders are fine. Just music was weird.
Oh well.
Mod can close thread
