Hi,
In this thread Johan Abramsson. Sony Ericsson Developer Program, will look for feedback and questions regarding Sensor HAL sources just published as Open Source.

Nice to hear that
Great job SE ... I'm sure our developers will find this helpful.
Does this mean that the Devs have finally better access to the camera-sensor and thus can optimize it?

No, these are libraries for accelerometer-, proximity-, pressure- and gyro-sensors, as far as I can tell.

Yes, accelerometer/gyroscope/compass/magnetometer
This is great news, and this is just one of the many reasons I love Sony (Ericsson).
does that mean that our touch screen will finally be fixed by some nice developer that is willing to do it?
There is nothing wrong with our touchscreen
Its for sensors like accelerometer and stuff on custom roms like CM7 - CM9 by J (FXP) or any Rom that's built from source
If people don't want to use precompiled ones from SE Rom then this will be useful
Regards
yeah there is nothing wrong with the touch screen

There is actually if you ever tried to type very fast the touchscreen on the arc and arc S will read it as you sliding your finger from the 1st touch point to the 2nd touch point
I don't think that Sony would see this as a problem though unfortunately, and personally I blame it on the SEMC keyboard...

Its the problem of using new touch screen technology. All keyboards have that problem. For what I heard Sony embedded apps have somehow fixed the problem. Not really sure

thanks for this release
accelerator akm907x sensor was not included in package !
I've been a pretty loyal Samsung guy until recently, but... If Sony keeps this up, my next device will probably be a Sony. It's either that or the next Nexus.

I was wondering, if someone can port the stock Sony camera for cm 10.1, coz it have much richer menu and funcionality.
Sorry for my poor english.
Well, I'll give this a try!

No, he wants Sony camera on cm, not the other way round
oh my bad
its almost impossible since it needs framework and drivers
really hard to modify it since sony has a different source code to work best on it's hardware
hopefully the next google phone will have a better camera software the n4 camera is so basic

It is not possible. Check the older threads, this has been discussed before.
The Snapdragon 800 has on Chip Voice activation, how I can active it?
I was saw a Video on the Qualcomms Website the people call: Hey Snapdragon and the phone turn on and say Hello Master?
Sony deactivate the function on the Software or I make some wrong?

Nice Option, I never know something like that it's possible with Z1. I am curious too if we can get this option to work.

Tomorrow I will ask the Sony support.

It's not implemented yet. Has nothing to do with Sony. It's a new feature in KK

Very sure. The first KK phone introducing it was N5 with the Google Experience Launcher.
There are apps simulating this, but as a system cheat I rather think a battery drainer...

Ok, so the Chip have the ability to use that feature but is locked by Sony. I hope it will can be unlocked but I doubt.
Guys it's not Sony related. It's a feature introduced in KitKat. We are still on 4.3. Stop begging Sony for each and everything. Just njoy the rest of the beautiful device. There is a lot of stuff coming soon, step by step. Think about holding a device in hands witch will smoothly be able to handle all the features they introduce even in one year while other phones just give up due missing specs...

This disinformation in this thread is amazing. Then is not locked but is System related and is implemented in KitKat, if so we will get that feature.
Update Google Search to 3.2.16.1006154 and the Experience Launcher to 0.10.1.920880 and you are in the game...
Probably you don't even need the Experience Launcher but I can't understand people not using it as the tight Google Now integration is just awesome...
Hey there!
I have just received a vivo, and I would like to develop for it. The phone's specs state that vivo is msm8255, but when I look into the device tree of the phone, the ROMs use msm7x30 platform. Can someone please explain this to me?
Also, does anyone know the name of chips in vivo. This is a very hard thing to find. For example, the bluetooth is BCM4329.
If no one has this information then it is alright, but I would like to my first question answered.
Thank You. :good:

You should PM Szeszo on this stuff. He is our main developer and has been pretty much our only developer for almost half a year now. He knows this device inside out
100% same chipset as the 7x30 devices, our 8255 is essentially an overclocked 7x30 like on desire z
That's why desire z has same chipset as us
Bcm 4329 is WiFi too, but bcmdhd is used for AOSP and sense 4 which is ported from One V or latest prima
Wikipedia has some good information

This is off topic, but...
Yes, Adelaide is a boring city. Nothing here to look at (can only look at myself in the mirror)
But what I do like about Adelaide is that it is a planned city; it is very hard to get lost here (even if someone tells you to get lost). When I went to Sydney, I got lost, because the roads aren't straight forward. I've also visited Melbourne, but I didn't like it, because the city there is too tight; the roads are very small, and the trams on the road take up too much space. But Melbourne kind of reminds me of my home country (Pakistan).
By the way, I do know somewhat about kernel development. I have tried to port a 3.4 kernel to a previous device, and I got the kernel to boot, but I coudn't get the ROM to boot. The phone died really quickly and now I cannot fully port the 3.4 kernel to it anymore, however someone else with the same device has already ported it, and I know how he did it. So, I am going to try it with vivo. But, I won't gurantee success.

Hello everyone !
Before buy my Samsung Galaxy S6, i had a Sony C5 ULTRA.
The Video quality was AMAZING, but no way to root it :/...
So i've bought the samsung galaxy S6, and i find that it's an incredible mobile phone ! But the quality of the video was better on the C5.
I think it's Bravia engine ! Someone can port it ? or was it ported already ?
Thanks.

Nobody uses Bravia anymore. It was the most useless feature ever. The main difference was a sightly more saturated image over the standard one. You can have the same oversaturated output by tweaking your AMOLED panel in Settings》Screen. By the way the only way to install bravia engine is by flashing that file. I can't guarantee that will work because the last time I've flashed it was in 2012 for my Galaxy Note running Android 4.0.3. However, you can try it by making a backup so you have something to restore if anything goes bad.
I flashed a bravia mod two days ago as requested by a user, to incorporate into my rom. Though I never noticed any improvements so ditched it. Our video experience is fine on the s6

Woa thanks ! Introduction think it's dors toujours compatible :/ so solved !
Bravia Engie is not for 4+ ROMs, they are useless for those version, the egnine is old, even SONY don't use it anymore, it's incorporated on the graphic drivers for the xperia line.

Well, devs need users and testers for feedback, testing, development, ideas and more
You (talking generally here) want something - you need to get off your high chair and either show some initiative and work toward a common goal
or keep whining and pretend to be entitled to judge and have an opinion of others that you virtually know nothing about - well great, but that does change exactly nothing (and causes abound frustration to become even more)
Or do you expect that miraculously out of nowhere without any work of preparation, thought and development - there pops out a ROM and is immediately 100% fully usable
Thanks to @moonbutt74 and his tester(s) for getting this in a close to daily driver material state,
There appears to be issues with microSD (external storage) detection on Ivy (Z4/Z3+) SINGLE Sim compared to Sumire (Z5) SINGLE Sim,
so that currently doesn't work
I don´t think the Z3+ is a bad phone in any way. I think Sony screwed up the release and promotion of it alot when they named it Z3+ instead of Z4 (like in Japan). They also very quickly released the Z5 which didn´t have the heat issue.
I come from a long line of phones with great community developed ROMS (HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, Samsung S4, Moto X) and I have every confidence that this phone could be great too if the devs got all the files and info they needed.
