All my music files appear twice. One of them is playable, the other not.
How can i fix this? Its a little bit annoying....
Settings
Apps
All (4th tab)
Media Storage
Clear Data
For me this only works until I reboot my phone, then the duplicates reappear...
Better than nothing, of course!
Thank you. Will try this.

It can take a while for media scanner to finish - how long did you wait before checking?
Not long enough. Now everythings fine. Thank you very much.

That's ok - I spent some time trying to track similar issues down myself; turned out that some of my .mp3 files had bad ID3 tags....

Hi:
Since the AT&T Froyo update, I am having odd music playlist problems. I am using the stock media player., and all music is stored to external SD card.
When in the song list, to add a song to a playlist, I hold down on the song, and select add to playlist, and then choose the playlist. It does not ever show up in the playlist I chose. This is the same way I have always added songs, only now it won't work.
If I go to the appropriate playlist, and remove songs via the menu button, and then add a few songs, the changes work properly, EXCEPT after the phone is turned off then back on, the changes disappear, and the original songs that were removed are still there, and the songs that were added are NOT there.
Any thoughts on what is causing this? I am desperate to fixe this. Every time I want to listen to music I have to go in and add/delete songs, which as you can imagine is hugely inconvenient.
Any thoughts will really be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Hi again:
I just tried using PowerAmp music player, and the same problem happens as with the stock player
Bump.
This is really a huge problem for me, any suggestions would REALLY be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you had this problem on any custom ROM?

Hi:
Thanks so much for your reply. I have never flashed a custom ROM. I can however say that I did not have this problem on stock 2.1.
Thanks again!
I actually had this problem on a few roms I was using. A reinstallation of the music app seemed to fix it. In this case, a reset may help unless you want to root and remove/add the app back in the system/app folder.

Hi:
Thanks so much for your suggestion.
I am already rooted. Do I actually go into the system folder and remove it, paste it somewhere else, and add the same app, or do I need to find a file of the music app online to replace the original?
Thanks again!!

That's about it. I'd cut and paste it somewhere else just in case then move the new on in. You can probably grab the app from a lot of ROMs that use the Samsung Music Player or just search for it somewhere. It should be called MusicPlayer.apk

One last question. Do you think this would affect the proper functioning even in Poweramp, because this problem is occurring when I use that also.
Thanks again!
I have an HTC Raider from Rogers and I installed PowerAmp on it. After it completes the library scan, it shows every song twice. However, when I open up the stock music app, everything looks normal. All of my music is currently stored on the external SD card. I did try moving all of the music over to the internal SD and poweramp only showed the music files once. However, I don't want my music eating up all the space on my internal sd.
Anyone else encountered this problem and possibly have a solution?

Never had this problem... that's odd. Maybe you could contact the dev of that app. Many of them are really good about resolving issues with users.

I will try contacting them. Thanks!
PowerAMP's library management seems to be a bit rubbish. It wouldn't read about half of my Japanese ID3 tags, nor 1/4 of my Korean ones... It's a bit of a disaster.

I also have an HTC Raider from Rogers and have the exact same problem.
Did you ever hear back from the developers about this?
Have you tried making sure that ONLY your music folder is getting scanned (by manually selecting it in the settings), then going into the advanced settings and initiating a full wipe/rescan?
I'm on a Rogers Raider and have never had this problem, so it's a shot in the dark. Been using PowerAmp for over a year across three phones.

Yes, I made sure that only the music folder is scanning. But still having the same problem, Please someone help me. :crying:
Using Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2
I had this problem, uninstall it, clear your dalvik cache, reinstall it, select only your music folder, double check that you don't actually have duplicate files
Hi,
try this:
Open Settings in powerAmp > Folders and Library > Music Folders (scroll down & down to make sure you select only 1 Folder where your music is stored).
that fixes mine. Hope that fixes your problem.
Maybe have a closer look
I have the Nexus 4, too and just solved the problem.
The first thing I did when acqiring Poweramp was de-selecting everything but the "music" folder.
But then I noticed that there was not only a folder of that name in /storage/emulated/0, but also in /storage/emulated/legacy, which was still selected, causing the problem.
Deselected the second one and everything worked fine
duplicate songs
the dual listing of songs files etc is usually caused by the app scanning dual paths. Set your app to only scan one folder for your music.

Thx. It worked for me.Nexus 4
the playlist won't get updated when I add new song, is there anyway to go around this problem instead of restarting the phone?

Actually, it's ROM-dependent. But for CM-based ROMs, mostly in my experience, you'd have to restart the phone.

Since the last couple of days whenever my phone is in lockscreen and I control a music app (walkman, soundcloud), pausing or changing the song does change the song that is being played, but the display stays the same (it gets stuck on the current song). It happens both with headphones plugged in and without and deleting app data/cache doesn't help. Also, no 'smart key' installed. Help would greatly be appreciated!

I had faced this issue earlier in one of my devices. Its because I used to clean the apps by swiping them after long pressing the home key.
While playing music, if i swipe and clear all running apps(including the music app), the music player still works. But if I lock and try to control via lockscreen controls, it wont respond!
So thereafter I never used to swipe it out!
give a try!
Thanks for the reply! It did not really help. Also, not being able to kill applications would not really be a solution for me any other advice?

Edit: I found out that the controls and the display work correctly when the camera is running in the background. I have no idea why though..

Am I the only person having this problem?
I can play music via the music widget, but once I go into the app, the app completely freezes and responds to no input. The app crashes sometimes and I have sent HTC log reports.
Is it my SD card? 64gb San Disk.
Though, this morning I was driving and the Car app was able to navigate through my music collection with no issue whatsoever.
Have you tried clearing data for the app?

Nope. Doesn't help at all.
Mine does that sometimes after I flash a rom, it did it when I first turned it on. I think wiping cache and dalvik fixes it.
This is really killing me. My phone MUST play music, and I don't want to install another music app -_-
I like HTC's widget too.
The app is still closing. I cleared data, force closed the app, the widget, and sound enhancer. Still Doesnt respond. Is this an issue or just me?
I'm running barebones app.

I'd try another ROM. No crashes here.
Keep in mind I have had problems with some devices that music with weird
Meta data crashed a player.
Try copying a couple albums to internal SD card.
Then remove SD card and clear data on music app.
First thing music apps do is go read all your meta data it can find.
There are some nice tools out their I've used to clean up meta data.
Like a weird font/character set in track titles can break some players.
