See if your phone is showing a generic IMEI by pressing *#06# on the dialpad or checking in settings...
^That. ICSSGS has had a nasty habit of messing with IMEI on 4.x
I checked the IMEI using *#06# and get the right IMEI for the phone. I am putting in another carriers sim and entering the unlock code and getting network unlock unsuccessful.

Back up your efs folder and unlock it with the app? Lol
Sent from my ICS powered Captivate using Tapatalk
So ya think ics changed my phone's product code? Has anyone else had that problem I wonder. Anyway, if i back up efs isnt that changed with the ics or do I need to just go back to factory and redo everything?
It shouldn't have. You can be save and back up each version (assuming it actually changes). Its not uncommon roms changing product code, it is uncommon messing with IMEI (but it happens).

Using a file explorer, look at the time/date stamps for the files in EFS folder... I have forgotten what the date will show for an untouched file in there, thinks is Dec 2009, so see if the time/date stamps are recent from flashing...

Forgot to say, be sure to know something has been modified before you going through all that... you have the correct IMEI, so the code should have worked...

That's your modem version, which won't affect the unlock process... In fact, most run an i9000 modem... what does your phone say for model number in about phone? Mine shows SGH-I897
Model number Samsung Captivate, just got off the phone with ATT and Samsung, ATT said software wouldnt have an issue with it not unlocking and Samsung couldnt help at all. ATT tried to say I tried to unlock it 5 times with wrong code and it will be locked forever, though I know I never tried unlocking without correct code

Yeah they confirmed the code, suppose I will have to stick with it locked. I wanted to sell it unlocked and get a new phone but oh well. If you hear anything else let me know, and thanks again for the advice

You can unlock it with the app... Galaxy S Unlock from the market... back up the EFS first, and also the unlocker will do so as well...
the app says sorry, no codes found...unknown error
I've successfully unlocked captivate several times using SuperOneClick. However with it being ics I don't know if it will work the same. But you can give it a shot.

in that folders are some imei files but you use it at you own risk only
there are some other soft for unlocking here BLAC001-unlocker
and the other rar files here are downloaded from rapidshare I found it there
I take no responsibility for bricking your phone if you use them and don't works !!!

I am afraid it seems you are mistaken, the program is available for download without entering an Email for other phone models too the rodium for example you need this program to exctract data from your phone you then send that and your imei to them, you then get a file and you can then unlock the phone.
The key here is the imei file you got.
Where did you get it from?
What are the chances that a random Imei file would match your phone???

Lol Indeed!
Did you unlock your phone with the file dowloaded or with the file that you share in your folder...
There are different when you run it,
I can't do the test because i'm not administrator of my computer... should wait for test some days...
Someone tested the file named ; BLAC001-unlocker.exe ?
Doesn't work I used the Blackstonev1Unlock.exe which confirmed my phone is sim locked and extracted some info. I then ran the BLAC001-unlocker.exe program and used the imei.unl file from the zip linked. After that I ran Blackstonev1Unlock.exe again which gave me the same "Your device is SIM unlocked" command prompt as shown in post 1. However I tried my O2 sim (on my Orange phone) and it booted to a sim locked screen
Interesting mine dosnt even run?
It opens the command prompt and then reboots my phone?
it then gives me a "communicating with device" error.
did it a few times no AV on, also tried in safe mode still nothing.

mine comes up saying locked now, but when i go to install it powers down and then go's into the bootloader.. hmmm

you need to be more thorough with your explanation of what point you are at and what you are trying to achieve.
an4564, what device do you have, what network are you on, and what exactly are you attempting to achieve, what does "nothing ever comes up" mean to the rest of us who are not mind readers

Second, you need to use HTC Sync to sync any data that you want saved.
Third, you need to connect your device to your computer, and set it to "charge only". You need to make sure that you have "USB Debugging Enabled".
From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
Tap Settings.
Tap Applications.
Tap Development
Tap to check USB debugging.
Once you've enabled USB Debugging, and connected your device using the "charge only" setting, Double click the RUU file.
From that point on, it will prompt you for a couple things, but there are no options or choices to make. Its bulletproof.
THIS OPERATION WILL COMPLETELY WIPE YOUR ONBOARD DATA, AND RETURN YOUR PHONE TO "OUT OF BOX" CONDITION. It will have Android 4.0.3, and Sense 3.6
This is an AT&T release and does not void your warranty, unlock your bootloader, gain access to the root folder, or remove AT&T bloatware. This is perfectly legit for those who don't wish to mess with root. An RUU is the manufacturers method for upgrading phones.
I have screenshots, and just don't wanna mess with uploading them(too much of a pain). If you wanna see them, PM me and I'll email them to you.
This is painless and so worth it!!!
EDIT: This does not wipe your SD Card

I think it says "bootloader LOCKED" in the fastboot screen. That means, you can ONLY flash motorola compiled operating systems (specifically kernels).;
If you want to try, run a fastboot unlock-bootloader command when running in fastboot. A locked bootloader will tell you something along the lines of "command not valid"
Do not flash anything on your phone. That looks to be a unlocked bootloader!

I could probably pull whatever from it, but I'd need some help for what you'd like pulled. Haven't rooted it or anything yet.
didnt this happen with a GSM RAZR before? dont get me wrong, i'd love to unlock my bootloader! someone bring this to their attention
FYI, on Milestone XT720, Motorola left a partially working fastboot--we can "fastboot boot boot.img" to boot self-built kernels and this bypasses the signature checks. But you have to boot via USB each time, if you use "fastboot flash boot.img" fastboot will write the kernel and reboot, but the signature check will fail after reboot.

Here's one way to muck with a kernel to change uname strings:

FWIW, the "SE" is the giveaway. If it said "S", you would be in business.
Rzrbck, how so, if it could be retrieved from the phone? Maybe I'm not understanding, but if we had that bootloader is it not like the normal S model with full permissions to the phone?
what makes it an engineering model? are the physical components the same, or is it a software setting that if we changed could unlock the phone?
would it be possible via hardware to dump an SE bootloader, and flash it to a S devic? I would be willing to give this a go if its possible.
if we could get the bootloader images off that phone an unlock for the Droid 4 might be possible. Assuming, of course that both the S and the SE model use the same keys.
Tell me what I can do to help.
I wish I knew what to do, but in the mean time, here's some literature on how the lock works (it's for the milestone, but the d4 might use the same infrastructure).
The bootchain:
http://www.droid-developers.org/wiki/Booting_chain
The mbmloader: this loads the bootloader, if this is replaced with a version that doesn't check signatures, the bootloader can be permanently replaced:
http://www.droid-developers.org/wiki/Mbmloader
The mbm (bootloader) does it's own signature check of the kernel before booting it.
If either the key burned into the phone's fuse, or the key the mbmloader uses to check the mbm are the same on both devices, one or both of those partitions can be flashed with with the unlocked version. If they're both different, this is a dead end.
The only other option after this (aside from espionage)would be to crack the signature system directly by either creating an unlocked version of the bootloader and patching it in a way that it generates the same hash, or discover a new way to factorize large (2048 bit) numbers, and reverse engineer motorola's private signing key. (If you were to discover this factoring method, nearly every security company would have to retool.)
edit: careful updating your phone, an OTA can relock your phone. The more I read, it seems less likely that the bootloader is encrypted. Dumps should be made, but this is going to require someone with greater knowledge than I.
how would we go about doing this?

It seems like you load a special kernel module to unhide the bootloader partitions then simply use the dd command to make an image copy onto the sdcard.
iow, we need a dev.
well the only ones i know might be kholk, hashcode, and p3droid
This got quiet. No news on this yet?

REQUIREMENTS:
Galaxy S5 (duh?) (Tested by me on G900T + see the "Tested & Working" section)
z3x Samsung Tool PRO v28 or 29 (v24 didn't work for me) (Search google to find it.)
4.4.4 Firmware! [G900T -AndroidFileHost] (need 4.4.4 because on 6.0 it doesn't unlock)
6.0.x Firmware! [G900T -AndroidFileHost] (update when finished unlocking)
NOTE:
Only download the firmware intended exactly for your device's model. Otherwise It will simply fail when flashing and will soft brick the device (just format and reinstall the correct firmware to fix)
// Do at your own risk!
// I'm not responsible for any bricked or damaged
// device after following these steps.
TESTED & WORKING:
Code:
// SM-G900T
// SM-G900W8
// SM-G900M
// SM-G900F
// SM-G900P
// SM-G901F
Don't be afraid to try on different S5 models.
It should work fine on your S5 too.
UNLOCKING PROCEDURE:
BACKUP / RESET
(optional) Make a full backup using any way you prefer (TWRP/CWM.. / Titanium backup / whatever..)
⚠Go into TWRP/CWM and Wipe System, data, and caches
PREPARE
Flash 4.4.4 - Use odin or z3x to flash the firmware (Scroll down for more help)
(Wait for the device to boot)
Dial *#0808#
Choose "DM + MODEM + ADB"
UNLOCK
(On your PC) Open z3x pro
Choose model (mine is G900T)
Go to Repair tab
Select USB port (something like samsung) and select ADB device
Click Activate DIAG
(On your S5) Allow adb access on your phone and wait...
(Phone will reboot automatically so don't interrupt)
(Now in z3x) Go to Unlock tab
Choose USB port again (something like samsung)
And Click Unlock
FINISH UP
Now update to 6.0 using odin or z3x
DONE UNLOCKING
ENJOY ANY SIM CARD
MORE HELP:
How to Flash Samsung Firmware
Using odin: http://rootmygalaxy.net/how-to-install-a-stock-firmware-using-odin/
Using z3x: Choose model then go to Flash tab and pretty much the same thing as odin
Troubleshooting:
Binary error while inserting firmware into odin:
-> Rename firmware from tar.md5 to tar only if you are sure you downloaded the right firmware for your device
The system cannot find the path specified in z3x:
-> Manually create the path that z3x is trying to reach (this happens when cracked, happened with me at least)
... Sorry I don't have more in mind at the moment
Thanks worked fine for me.
Question though, I won't lose unlock status if I change the firmware, kernel or a rom correct?
i have been search by google, almost all the download link are fake or not working
can you provide a true crack version for me ?
Do you think it could work on a G901F?
Is anyone getting to the actual z3x samsung pro ? Is it supposed to be in .rar formant? I think I have v29.5, however, it does not have this "Crack" thingie
Any help would be great, or am I wasting time....

I did find a guy "idoneapps" i think was the name . That claimed to be able to unlock it ...i didn't want to pay some random fella money so i kept looking for another week. Still nothing so i payed this guy i think 25 bucks or something like that got his app from his site . literally within 2 minutes i had a unlocked sprint s5 running on straight talk (att network). I have never had a issue. I was sketched bout using my bank card to pay but i have never had any issues with that either ...for all extensive purposes this dude is/was legit and saved me from having a paperweight .... Anyone looking to sim unlock their s5 i would recommend a quick google search for this fella ....

Thanks a lot. It worked perfectly on my friend's mother T-Mobile SM-G900T, and I use z3x version 27.2 without a problem.

when you unlock in 4.4.4, update to 6.0 and you won't need to unlock (unlocked already)

Thanks worked fine for me.
Question though, I won't lose unlock status if I change the firmware, kernel or a rom correct?

it will be locked again probably if you do a wipe or reinstall the firmware. BUT if you installed custom roms, it is probably unlocked already (roms don't have any carrier lock i think)

Do you think it could work on a G901F?

it should work on all varients of s5 as long as you use their firmware (if you have 901F, download the 901F firmware)
but note that it's not tested... if you can, test it and please give a feedback
Just tested this z3x tool and it works on all versions of android up to 6+ without needing to downgrade, had to make sure that I downloaded the z3x samsung driver pack v1.7 with the relevant modem drivers etc.
Still have to type in *#0808# to enable the dm etc but otherwise it unlocks without any further issues.
All stock, no root, no Odin.
Working method...
Device not locked again after update over Wi-Fi 100%.
I upload working Z3X 28.2 version (Load as administrator Load_SamsugToolPRO.exe. after popup registration window, need press try):

Says Program damaged
Turn off anrivirus, before unrar program...
I found this more straightforward (although root is required)
Thank you @NHK I was able to successfully unlock my SM-G900W8.
Now I know this has been answered but i just want to confirm..
If I install a custom rom, it won't be locked again? Just checking before I install a rom and it is locked, making me have to do this again
EDIT; answered my own question, it's okay!!
Thanks OP
I can not select com as it is empty, but i can select the adb port. . I have installed samsung driver pack 1.7. I can backup my efs and so on but to unlock it says port not selected. The com is blank and there is nothing I can select. Any solution is highly appreciated.

Once unlocked its permanent. Back up phone and do hard reset. Use the key combo not the option from Setting menu. If that doesn't solve it then use Emergency software repair ( Samsung Switch) on PC .
i already tried a hard reset, did not solve the problem.
i will try smart switch and let you know

ok i tried to use samsung switch, first of all the tab "Device Initialization" is missing in the latest version of this software, i tried to use an older version, here the tab Device Initialization still was here but when i type in my Model Number and SrNumber it Says:
"SM-G973F" does not support Initializing. Please contact a Service Centre
do i have to use ODIN now??
i guess i just will wait until a new update will come out and try to update with Smart Switch

You can reflash the fw with Odin. Flash the version you had before the "unlock ". I think they are messing with some version of firmware...

Very close.
Bare with me as it's been a moment since I've worked with these tools:
Most 'instant' unlocks, done via USB over TCP/IP, tend to alter one of the device's primary certificates to allow for an 'instant unlock'.
If, and when, one of these certificates is replaced, it alters the chain of trust required by the device.
So when the device goes looking for an update, the update server acknowledges the request but sends back a query. In this query, and depending on the model, the update server looking for several variables and these must ALL match. Seeing as one of the primary certificates has changed, the result expected by the server isn't matched and, as such, it doesn't allow for an update.
@Rexton270 is correct in that you should replace the firmware with the same (and failing that, a newer version if possible). AFTER you flashed the new update, follow these steps:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-222931/
(I know you don't have a Verizon device but the steps are the same)
Please keep us posted.

thank you very much.
because there was still no update in samsung smart switch i flashed it with odin.
problem solved.
thank you.
for other users: if you want to unlock your phone, use the samsung database instead of the cheaper version.....
Excellent news. Glad to hear it all worked out.
