I have 8.9 Wifi Tab with flashed stock firmware (3.2).
I live in the UK and want to be able to use UK only apps such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Player etc..
They don't show up when searching for them in the market app but when i find them online using google it says they are incompatiable with my device, although the requirements are Adobe Air(installed) and HC 2.2+ which I obviously meet.. the only thing I can think it is is the region of the firmware on my device? It was a US device originally and the stock firmware I used also shows as US region.. is this something I can just change and reflash or what?
thanks,
Michael

I have an unlocked i9000 running Froyo XXJPO updated from Kies with a UK country code (XEU). My question is, if I change my country code to Hong Kong by hacking the registry, will I be able to download the hong Kong Firmware, and able to change my phone to Chinese display?
If not, are there any ways of using chinese on my phone (preferably through Kies rather than odin).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Its, used registry hack to download a stock hong Kong region rom...worked well so far, so fingers crossed.
Cab you send the the address to download that fireware I just cant find. also i am using galaxy S 4G, will that works for me too?
As I understand it, language is framework based, so if you install a theme that includes chinese (and I know many do) you will have the language regardless of your firmware or CSC.
Hey guys!
I am pretty new to this forum, but have been hanging arround for a while.
And i gotta say that it has helped me with pretty much!
But now I have a problem with my phone, and i cannot find anything in the forums about it..
Any help would be appreciated.
So.. Yesterday my phone was giving me a hard time to boot.. For some reason CWM did not show the backups on my rom and so i couldnt restore it.
I downloaded the official I9000XXJPY 2.2.1 EU and flashed with odin, and my phone could now boot again..
However, today I noticed that there are languages missing in the phone, say for example input languages for samsyng keypad.
I have gone nuts searching the net about this..
Is there any way i can get these languages back without rooting and going backways. Is there any firmware that have the languages?
I would love it if someone has a solution to my problem.
I still want it to be a clean rom and so, so that I can update later on with KIES.
Speaking about KIES. When I connected the phone it says
"This wersion of the device cannot be updated" [1]
Why is that?
Also, not that in the picture it says (KOR) [2]
Why?
I would be greatful for any kind of help!
Thanks in advance!
NOTE: Image is attached because of first post, i must have at lease 8 post to have an url.
It reads KOR because I believe you have a Korean csc flashed. In addition, it is saying your phone can't be upgraded because it is not detecting the stock firmware for your region. Therefore if you want to use kies you need tobuse one of the spoofing methods found on XDA or find the right firmware for your region.
As for language, that comes from framework which makes me even more convinced you have the wrong firmware flashed. Later if you install a custom, deodexed rom flashed you can add languages just by flashing a theme that includes the language you want.

Speaking about KIES. When I connected the phone it says
"This wersion of the device cannot be updated" [1]
Why is that?
Two reasons One the obvious no update ie 2.3 is not on the servers .
the other reason is Kies cannot read the firmware product code and hardware ID and match to an update.
EG original firmware O2 UK product code xxxxx hardware id fffff firmware 2.1
Finds a match and downloads 2.2
Flashed stock rom its not the one supplied with the phone so .
product code ddddd hardware id ffff firmware 2.1
no match product code different firmware not from the network branded phone .
Stock is not original its Samsung firmware before the network supplier customises/brands it .
Thats why you keep a copy of your original firmware safe .

Thank you for your reply..
That is odd because I downloaded the firmware from SamFirmware under the Europe category.
Do you know where i can get the right firmware for JPY, if I live in sweden?
Thanks

When that is the case kies lists both your firmware and the current firmware (which match) and says that you have the latest firmware available.

I would check any android sites in Swedish. Sites will often have the firmware for the carriers in their country.

Thanks guys.. I'll dig a little after swedish sites and post the outcome here..
Ok.. So I found the scandinavian version and flashed it, and it is working flawlessly.
Regarding the phone being debranded, can this affect me in a bad way or is it just something minor?
Thanks guys, for helping me out!

Samsung warranty yes Sellers warranty no its not their firmware .
Technically no warranty but in practice stock firmware as opposed to original does not seem to be a problem for repair .

Hi,,
I have purchased galaxy tab 7.0 ,, p1000 yesterday !
I know its too late but its OK , its not for me any way
but I tried to update the tab to android 2.3 , but it seems something is wrong
I have downloaded the latest kies from Samsung website , then I have connected my P1000 , and every thing is going fine , but the kies says this is the latest firmware!!
what does that mean?
I know how to root the device and how to get the update but I don't want to!
why I can't just update it officially from kies?? I live in Saudi Arabia , but is it really a problem?? as far as I know its available for everyone now
any suggestions?

keis looks at your model number. so it's saying you have the latest software released for your model. most of what you see on here is people rooting and putting whatever they want on thier tablets. rooting is when you hack your computer to get low-level system access. which voids your warrenty. and android is linux so you should be familiar with how a linux os works and your tablets hardware.
ok thanks for replying ,,
I know all these stuff , and i am familiar with Linux also
but isn't this update officially released?
why does it say this is the latest firmware if it looked at my model number?!
does that mean some models don't get the update?
It's wierd. is it a import from somewhere else?
Keis would only reject models from certain places.
or your model is not on the roll out yet too.
samsung is a wierd company. good but wierd.
go into your configs and look at about your device,
and see what model and revision it is.

I'm in Saudi Arabia too and i'm also not getting any update while other people in Saudi Arabia have updated their Tabs from KIES

Gingerbread is definitely not available everywhere just yet. Unavailable here on my Aussie Tab for example.
It's possible that you're Tab is coded to a carrier/region and would therefore be ineligible. For example, I have a GT-P1000T (nothing on the outside will tell you this. Try checking the box) which means I can't get the upgrade. Same goes for other models such as the 1000R/B/K type models. This could be an issue.
Also, if you're Tab is locked to a network, your carrier might have to sign off on the upgrade first.

Yeah, got the ****s wirth waiting for Telstra to release an update, went with ODIN instead, never looked back...
Apparently as I was browsing the telstra site yesterday, there is an upgrade available for the Telstra GT-P1000T now available for download through Kies.... If you are game...
Hello everyone. I'm new to here. I have a problem in my galaxy S advance (I9070) First days I purchased it, it asked for System Update settings in Notification area. so I was selected the country as UK by mistake. So now I'm going to update it to JB, and the Kies software shows me a updates for UK, (XXLQE update) but i'm in a Asian country, I think that update for European country. If I update this, will it be compatible to my country ? is these europian updates can be used in asian countries ??. Please tell me how to change System Update Settings Country, there are no place to change it.

You can use other region firmwares with no problem. Currently maybe the indian ddulp8 is the best without root imo. Yes, it is true but not on all device and I don't know why.
Hope this helps.
When official JB came out I flashed euro open firmware (V20a). My stock software was 10c, but I don't know for which country. Now I want to rollback to official ICS.
How can I find which version I had?
Just use the one for your country.

I bought phone on black market, it's smuggled from somewhere in Asia, but I don't know from which country
Paste this URL into your browser and add your IMEI at the end (after "?esn="):
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=
The returned text will tell you the URL of the latest firmware for your phone. In my case, this is ACWTBK/V20b. The 3 letters after the first A (CWT for this example) tell you the country/carrier - you can see the full list of available firmware, including older versions, for each of these combinations here:
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15
This method works, it was from Singapore (how this phone ended in Serbia I honestly don't know)
Thanks!
