new to android. .I back up my phone using my backup pro and kies but what happens if I lose my phone. Most of my data etc is on my card.I know can copy and paste a copy of my card on my hard drive but that would be a pain to remember.
Thanks

not unless you specifically tell it to backup youer sd card, the backups are normally the main memory app/data
Thanks, so I assume if I copy and paste the memory card to my pc hard drive. ...so if I lost my phone or card got damaged I could just buy new card and past the copy and it would all work?
Thanks

Presumably. But only if you back up your memory card periodically when you change something on your phone which changes the files on the sd-card. otherwise you'll have different timestamps and filesizes. -> only related to apps you store on your memory card. music, pics and movies of course stay the same

I'm at my wit's end trying to get my Cappy to mount on either my personal MB Pro or my work PC laptop via USB. AT&T store I went to yesterday suggested a warranty replacement, but I want everything in order first.
Is there any way to do a Titanium Backup (have the Pro version) & save that folder w/o being able to mount the phone to my computer? If they master clear to fix it I wanna be able to restore easily.
Are you on a custom rom, how are you trying to mount?
You can buy an external sd, and move the titanium backup to it
Running stock JH7 rooted. Tried Dropbox with Root Explorer but couldn't get it to work with multi select. Then zipped without realizing Dropbox didn't support that haha.
Edit: How do I move to an external SD card without being able to mount?

Put an SD card in the phone, run TIBU, use MyFiles to move or copy the TIBU folder to the external SD on the phone, remove the sd card from the phone, stick sd into computer of your choice and copy to computer.
There's no need to connect the phone to the computer directly as long as you have a computer that reads an sd card. For that matter there is no real need to copy them to the computer. When you get the new phone stick the sd card in the phone, copy TIBU folder back to internal sd card and restore.

Worked perfectly. Hadn't even ventured into My Files because I was always using Astro/Root Explorer. Ironically, My Files made it much easier to differentiate external SD b/c of a different icon...knowledge for next time. Everything's backed up, unrooted & ready for a warranty replacement conversation (2nd so far).
Hello I am new to this site and new to android in general. First, some info on my phone.
_ Unlocked bootloader
-Rooted
-ICS 4.0.3
-32gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card with 2 primary partitions
I am having trouble moving anything to my SD card via the phone. When I go to the app menu and try to move an app I only get the option to "Move to Phone Storage." I have searched on google and everyone just makes mention to use a program like link2sd. I've tried using that, and even after creating symbiotic link the apps still only move to phone storage. The program says they are on SD card, but my SD card data usage says otherwise.
My phone does acknowledge the presence of an SD card in the Settings > Storage menu. I am unable to view the contents of the SD card on any of the file explorers either, when I click the SD card all I see are the contents of phone storage. I am able to view and open contents of the SD card by using root explorer under the sdcard2 directory. If I transfer music and photos to the SD card from my PC I can access them with the appropriate widgets on my phone.
So to simplify my post: Is there any way to move an app to the SD card with this device / ICS? The actual external SD card, not the internal phone storage.
Thank you.
I'm not 100% but... In wcx recovery... I think there is an option to switch internal/external storage...
Maybe someone has tried it?

I actually moved an app to ext.sd using root explorer it basically just copied it.the app I moved was app monster when I used the app it showed internal .when I selected scan sdcard it brought up everything from internal and external .
HTC vivid
Titanium Backup does this really well. You can do a batch operation to move all user apps to external SD.

Doesn't Astro File Manager do basically the same thing?
ok, so my microsd card is a samsung 64gb hc/hx? Computer says HX, microsd card says HC... class 10.
I've been putting music on it etc, then when reboot my phone, it like restores to an older stage, files will delete themselves, folders i deleted reappear and the new music is gone etc.. I do it again, same thing happens. Its extremely frustrating.
I notice ill put an apk on there, the icon changes, and it wont open the apk also.
Ive formatted my sd card on both computer and on the phone but the problem remains...
Here an image of a zip when trying to open, it was recently put on the sd and opened fine before rebooting.

Same problem here. Any solution?
Are you doing this from the phone? Are you on KK?
If so you need to Google "third party write to sd card restrictions on KitKat "
The solution is to root and apply the write to sd card fix

Root and fix done. The same thing happens if I copy files from pc to micro sd. When I put micro sd in the phone, directory and files above 8/10gb disappear.
You have a broken or dodgy sd card then.
I bought a 64 gig card of eBay write cheap but it was really a 4 gig card formatted to look like a 64 gig one...

Tried with 3 different micro sd. The result was the same.
on my s3, my music and pics were on the card, so, no worries whenI had to factory reset. I did my phone a few days ago and checked my stuff, and everything was gone. I may just be completely brain dead, but where the heck do I look to see my card, not physically, but through my phone settings. when I eject and then put the card back in it says card error (or something likethat). please forgive me if this is a silly question, I still carrythe noob title.
Ya your sim card doesn't hold music. On your s3 it was in the external SD card. We don't have one of those, you can look at your built in internal SD card by opening the lg file manager and click all files, then internal storage

Best thing to do is make a back up on your PC of all your data, music, pics, if rooted, your apks , etc., so when you do have to factory reset you can just dump that file back onto your internal SD card (not really an SD card, really just internal memory) so that you have all your stuff again. You can even backup desktop / home screen config to the internal and then to PC and restore it as well.

Hi all.
The sd card on my s3 lte failed. I managed to copy most of the contents onto my pc but lost all my photos and vids. When I copied the folders onto my new card I found it was 10gb full (16gb card). The main culprit is a file called languages which is 7.58gb.
What is this file?
I thought if it was languages for the phone then it would be on the phone, not the sd card.
Can I just delete it?
My phone seems to work fine without the sd card in...apart from the apps on the card.
Thanks
Matt

by ''new card'' do you mean its never been used untill now? or already used with current device or some other device?
im not sure but, if you had used this ''new card'' already, it could be that these languages belong to an app you used or are still using, for example like maybe a keyboard app (storing languages/predictions/data history) or navigation app. anyway if you say that the phone seems to work fine without it and your apps also then there should be no issues deleting this languages file. probably left on the card from an app that you dont use anymore..
