What is your normal battery drain when your phone is idle? I have an hour and 15 minute drive to work each day and my phone sits idle the entire time when I get to work I notice that my battery has drained about 3%. Is this normal or is this high?
I'm running teamhacksung build 16 with glitch beta 3, of course this has been the case for every ROM I have installed. Btw I keep wifi and gps off at all times and I'm syncing only gmail.
The reason I ask is that I was given an iphone for work and I couldn't believe the battery life, of course I could never leave android for apple...I just can't customize it...
Thanks in advance.
3 % a hour, that's high, im on kk4 based rom & kernel and my cappy drained average 1% per hour

Perhaps during your drive you are going through some areas of weak signal where the phone needs to work harder to stay connected.
You can look at Settings to see what has been using your battery during that hour and a half.
That's similar to the battery life I'm getting. I think I can get better drain if I don't overclock

^same. Its also the same if I'm running cm7. On THS ICS, at most I can get 2 and a half hours of screen time o.o

I have seen my phone idle between .5% to 3% based on strength and stability of signal, no other factors involved. Since traveling at vehicle speeds = less stability. It's probably the reason for your loss, you can try different modems to see if one talks to the towers better so hand-offs go smoother.
leaked from my ICS- FUSED SGS I897 contaminating you via XDA app.
Here are a couple screen shots I took after my phone was sitting on the counter idle for a little over an hour.

Yeah I'd say that 3% in 15 minutes is high - I probably drop 1% to 2% per hour or so when idle (but I keep wifi and mobile data disabled when not in use).
Even when I'm work though where my cell signal is weaker I don't think I've ever seen my battery drop 3% in 15 minutes.

I have been trying to figure out how some of you guys get these amazing battery lives and I'm struggling... I have flashed quite a few roms in the past several days (ICS, CM 10.1 , 10.2) and all of them come with the latest kowalski kernel M1 or exp 126.
with kowalski kernel M1 on TheROM build 13:
the battery lasts only 5-6 hours with about 1 hour normal usage and screen on time...
when the battery goes to 0% and phone turns off I plug in the charger and switch on the phone and it starts from numbers like 70% or 60% ! :silly: after the charging is done I leave the charger on for a few hours at 100%, then I unplug the phone and use it normally (nothing heavy, just few minutes facebook and email with some calls and browsing) the most I got is around 5-6 hours with 1 hour screen-on time :crying:
with kowalski kernel M1 norh on TheROM build 13:
same story but here the situation is worse, after about 5 hours with data and wifi mostly off (just manually switched on when I needed to check something), the battery was about 35% and then suddenly it jumped to 0% and phone shut down! I turn it on and it shows 20% and it works for few minutes then again jumps to 0% and shuts down... :crying:
I have done everything I could and followed any advice I could find related to this issue and nothing seems to help. I flashed the roms after factory reset with fully wiping everything including the internal SD, and I have done at least 4 cycles of full discharge and recharge with the phone turned on for calibration but the situation stays the same.
The battery I use is a new OEM from LG and I bought it 2 weeks ago because I thought the old battery was the problem.
I am currently using TheROM build 13
can you please advice what could solve the issue or what am I doing wrong?
I attached the logs I got using SysLog, on both kernels hope it provides some clues.
I'd greatly appreciate if you can help me out.

That is really frustrating, but... KK battery driver is somewhat intelligent and needs at least 3 full cycles of drain and full charge (100% + another hour) to be calibrated. I have good battery performance with Pengus' CM10. It is really worth a try.

@oneearleft Thanks a lot for your reply, I know about the calibration , I have done that every time....
unfortunately I have the battery problem with all of these roms
CM10 "Look Ma! No Hands!" Edition
CM10.1 - tonyp - T-Build 05
cm-10.2-20130824
Stock ICS OptiX Rom
TheROM - build 13
apart from the battery life, everything else is working perfectly with TheROM for my needs, I really hope to find a way to fix the problem
waiting desperately for KK 3.1 kernel ... hope the battery driver gets a good share of pengus' magic
How old is your battery? After 17 months, I bought a new stock battery. The difference was tremendous.

Where are you getting "drastic" battery drain?
You went through 48% of your battery in 7.5 hours. Thats not drastic. id consider that normal.
Also your numbers are way off.
You still have 52% battery remaining according to the screen shot.
So 76.4% usage OF 48% consumed is what is actually being represented there.
Remember that any time you look at your battery stats the calculations have to equal 100%.
So if you have 90% battery left. Then only 10% has been consumed. So of that 10% consumed its representing 100% of your apps that consumed 10% of your battery.
Now if you drain your battery to say 5% or less then you get a better representations of what is consuming your battery. But if its still going on 12+ hours your doing well.
From what i read on your screen shot your looking at around 14 hours of battery life.

I removed Google bookmark sync apk from system/app and now its 63% when I got back from school .. actually I leave for school around 7 am (phone is plugged overnight, I just unplug it and keep it my bag) use of mobile is prohibited in school so it's not even used for a second till 2 PM . Resting idle and having 48% battery drained . When I have extra classes after 2 PM I can use it and its dead by 7:30 or so in the evening .. I get 11-12 hours ...

Bad signals at school maybe?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've heard of this problem from somewhere and from that someone suggested turning location services off in Google now or completely disabling Google now. Also an easy fix would be to put airplane mode on during school as long as you don't mind losing the possibility of someone getting in contact with you.

Hi all,
I am new to this forum...just quickly asking if there is any Lt25i user on this forum having the same issue with the battery. I've been using it for about 8 months with a stock rom (4.1.2, all updated). It is good device in generally apart from the battery which drain itself in about 8 hours or 9 hours of normal office worker use (you know, reply 20 or 30ish msgs or a couple calls total 30 mins tops, play around during lunch time, on a HSPA+ network, not LTE, about 20 apps installed on the device and no games at all).. and sometimes you can see the battery percentage drops down by one or two percent when you have been whatsapping continuously for about 10 mins..That's so much quicker than the other phone that I have (Galaxy S4). any one experiencing the same issue? what would you recommend? I am planning to flash the rom but not entirely sure which to choose. Your response is appreciated.
Ray
Youre not alone buddy. Although to many causes frustrations, if I'm just texting (whatsapp) I just leave it on Edge, or disable mobile data when im not using the phone. It's when I'm surfing the net that I'll leave it on HSPA+.

A lil battery optimization even on this 'tiny' battery by 2014 standards could have gone a long way.

To be quite honest, 5.5 hours of screen on is pretty darn awesome for any Android phone except behemoths like RAZR MAXX or Galaxy Note models.

However, with HSPA+ always on I can only get around 3.5-4 hours SOT at 15 plus hours on battery. The OP should install BBS and check what eats his battery on the background. 8 hours is pathetic.

Hi,
I've had a Nexus 6 for some days now, and its battery life doesn't seem too good. I'm used to leave my phone overnight and wake up to it having over 90% battery left, but with the N6 it usually has a little over 80. Today it had 83%, and after browsing the web for some minutes (maybe 10 or 15) it's down to 75%... That's almost 1% a minute, which seems a lot to me.
If I take a look at the battery screen, I see this:

If I'm not mistaken, something seems to have kept the phone awake during the night. Is that right? I'm using M preview 2, could that be causing the problem? Is the phone defective? What could be wrong here?
Thanks in advance for your help.
PS. Battery life is at 71%... That's 4% down since I wrote that part above. This thing drains so fast it's scary.
It could be anything from the ROM itself to a Rouge app. I would flash back to bone stock and see what you get over a few days with a couple charge cycles. And then compare with another ROM.

Yes the andoird m preview 2 is not showing battery stats correctly. You will probably notice that once your phone goes down to 1% it could stay there for an hour or so. Just be sure to run the phone to complete 0%. Then charge to 100% and leave for about an hour after that. That should recalibrate it after a few cycles. It is a widespread "issue" with the m preview 2.

why dont you keep it on the charger overnight, that way itll be at 100% for you??? it does not hurt the phone, at all.

+1 to this. I use a lower voltage charger, not the turbo charger, and charge my N6 while I sleep. I have since day one with this beast. I've had it since November 20.

i use the turbo charger. but it doesnt matter. if you watch the voltage going in, it get drastically reduced above 92%, and again at like 97%. and when the device actually stops charging, its at 0% voltage going in. btw, most times it does not stop charging at 100%. that happens anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes after hitting 100%. thats because our battery % is slightly off.

Normal is relative. Is it a bit on the low side? Most definitely. Normal? Maybe. It really comes down to the apps you have and how you use your phone. I personally get about 5hrs SOT and I'm fine with that. Standby drain is more important to me than SOT. There are battery saving tips and trick you can try to google or youtube.

My phone drains like 3% per hour on IDLE. I don't have AoD nor anything in particular that should be causing this drain. I have no idea why. The battery life seems to be fine for actual usage, but teeeerrible for AOD.

3% per hour no AOD is bad. You have an app causing major drain for sure. You might have to deep dive in your battery stats to find the culprit. Last resort would be safe mode to see if your able to reproduce the issue. You should go to the battery life thread and ask around.

I'm not sure what it could possibly be since my old Note 8 did this too, but it alternated every other cycle or so where it would drain less than 1% or 3%+. I exchanged it for a new one and this issue is happening again except it was completely fine for the first week or two. There was no app that I downloaded between the time that it was fine and not fine.
I guess I'll repost this in the battery thread.
i am not losing battery overnight as much as you guys, my problem now is i can't get 6-7hrs of sot anymore, 4-5 is as much as i get, and it's only 1 month old.
There was a thread about Android OS drain.
