[Q] Build request wpa_supplicant - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using CM9 from teamhacksung build. before that I was using CM& and at that time my SGS used to identify ad-hoc wifi network, but now it doesn't. After googling I found someone has posted this patch
http://szym.net/android/wpa_supplicant-ibss.patch
Though, I think it was for GB, but I am just curios is there anyone who can try this patch on CM9's wpa_suppliacnt and build. If this works on ICS too, it will be great.

Wifi problem FIXED

Ok.. so i thought this was weird.
i was having wifi problem. not being able to get connected or even see the networks on my phone.
CM6.1 and superhybrid 2.11 does not have problem its just when you flash a theme or kernel it start causing problem (FOR ME IN MY CASE, i dont know about you), and wifi eventually stops working.
currently i am running lastest radio korean version.
Whenever i flash a wild monk or other kernels on CM6.1 wifi stops working
When i flashed the stock theme that was provided on the op from superhybrid 2.1.1 the wifi stopped working.
i just thought it was weird and wanted to know if any of you guys are experiencing same problem as me.
Let me know Thanks!
I've tried a few WildMonks on CM 6.1 nightlies, and don't have any wifi problems...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
which version are u using.
CM 250 nightly, and I think the WildMonks is:
2.6.35.8_AVS-925mV-CM_CFS_20101116_2329.zip
Its listed as #154 in the About Phone info (don't know why they never make the file name the same as the version info)
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I always flashed wildmonk's kernel right after i flashed CM6.1 nightlies, and my wifi is always wonky (i get a lot of errors enabling wifi and wifi tethering).
Next time I do a full wipe, i wont apply the kernel and see if that happens

[Q] Wifi Direct support on ICS Roms for i9000

Hallo..
Are there any ICS Roms for the SGS that supports Wifi Direct?
I have not read it as a feature in any ROM thus far... but maybe you guys know of a ICS Rom that supports Wifi Direct.
It is an awesome concept... just sad that for this device up to now it still only is a "concept"..
I'm using fascinate with i9000 cm9 nightly's and glitch kernel, I have the settings, and I can enable it, but I had problems connecting with a laptop. I didn't really have the time to figure out the issue.
If I do get a yes or no answer if the kernel supports/rom can do it, I will post back here.

[Q] ICS - Someone got AdHoc working? Driver revert, Is it possible?

Hi folks.
Do you guys know if there is a way to make possible use of AdHoc wifi Networks on any ICS Rom?
Actually i was using Kingdroid and I was very satisfied.
But, AdHoc Enalber doens't seems to work on any ICS rooms actually.
Also if it is not possible via apps or something like this, would it be possible to revert the driver only? I guess any driver from GB could work.
Thanks anyway
Best regards,
Marcus.

Can't connect to any ad-hoc

Hi there,
today i've flashed my SGS+ with CyanogenMod 10 by ivendor (alpha2 & 3). First thing i noticed was that the device didn't show up my ad-hoc from my pc with wlan-stick. After restoring my old stable backup (cm9 beta3) all works fine. I've tested this with AOKP JellyBean Alpha 1 too, but same thing. Is this a generally bug in the new jb's alpha for SGS+?
Thanks for your help.
U can copy wpa suppliciant from ivendorr ics over jb. And u will see ad-hoc wifi hotspot. But u need castagnal kernel. Without castagnL kernel you will stuck on obtaining ip adress..

[Q] Problems with network search (CM 7.1.0-X8)

Hello everyone,
Recently I have upgrae my phone to CM 7.1.0-X8 (with kernel 2.6.29.6-nAa-11).
Unfortunately I have a problem when I try to browse mobile networks: an error appears (message 'Error while searching for networks'). I cannot log in to a network different than my own (this will cause problem with roaming abroad).
On another forum I have noticed that someone came across this problem on HTC phone and change of a library file (libhtc_ril.so) helped in that case but I neither have this library in my installation, nor it is a SE phone.
Can anyone help in this case? Thanks a lot in advance.

Trying using the latest version of the kernel that would be version 2.6.29.6-nAa-13.
Here is the link to the kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
And are you using the Official CM7 for you phone? If you are, trying using MiniCM7 its much better.

Yep, I'm using CM7 official Shakira version. Having read your post I'm wondering at the following issues:
1. What are the differences between official CM7 I have installed and Mini CM7?
2. Basically - current instalation works fine, apart from the network selection. Perhaps it would be sufficient to replace a specific library in my installation with another one from Mini CM7 version?
3. Is Mini CM7 better than normal CM7?

Official CM7 is pretty old and discontinued. You can think of MIniCM7 like an update that started when the Official CM7 for the X8 ended. So MiniCM7 is probably better in every way (I say probably because I have never used the Official CM7, but you never hear some one recommend the Official CM7 over MiniCM7). Also a lot of other ROMs are based on MiniCM7 so that says something. Replacing a library will be more complicated than switching Kernel and ROM and who knows if it will even work, you might end up breaking it more than fixing it.

I have upgraded my phone to MiniCM7 version. It has solved all the problems that existed earlier. Apart from problems with network, also the phone speaker is louder (as with the original SE Rom), FM Radio is also present.
Thanks a lot.:good:
