Hi all..I recently flashed XLA6 (russian) my original ROM was XKL3 using CWM and rooted.. After that i was experimenting with germay, again with Indian DDL5 and again XKL3 and finally settled with XLA6. After doing all these.. I noticed that my gallery shows empty even though i have images and videos in my built memory. Picture gallery shows only bluetooth recieved files not copied from PC files. What could be the reason?
Please apologize if this was discussed earlier. I couldn't find similar thread like this..oz column shows only five similar threads.

Option 1. Restart Device
Option 2. Copy all contents to PC and again copy it to Device
I tried restarting it.. May be i shud re transfer the files..
Rescan your media. That should do it. There is an app for that in the Market.

A tip is to use another gallery than the one provided with the Stock. Quick gallery on the market works very well and is immensely quicker especially if you have a lot of pictures. To increase your speed on the external SD-card (if you have one), you may try SD-Boost from the market.
Problem solved once re format the internal and copied the files again.. It seems after flasshing rom it didn't recognise the folder created by older rom.. Is that the fact?

But today I just noticed that any images from my external SD will appear double in gallery.. dunno when it started to happen.. is there any way to fix this?
thanks
Im my case was 5 for each original, and with a lot of problems to delete the "non-real" ones...
thats hurt.. anyone can help here?
Yup! Just go to Application Manager, then easily clear cache for Media Storage! Ta-Da! No more duplicate images!
(It made my ringtones reset, but I could live with it!)

If you have Root Explorer
GO into /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media
and delete both the internal and external files
Reboot

Great hint, just wondering though if there is any way to have an app or script run at boot-up to do this for you, so people don't have to do it manually every time their gallery has a fit?
Dear all, I don't know is this a bug or what. I'm now on Miui rom with android version 4.1.1, and when I use the file explorer, I found that my music category was looking strange, as I know very well that this category should not built up to more than 1GB (not even with all my music file added up together), but now it's 3.75GB. and when I press the music category, it shows a lot of files without file names dated 16/01/1970 !!
Are these files actually exist? or is just some kind of bug? Does this take up space? Really appreciate if any one can help me here.
I tried to delete the file but failed, the system doesn't respond at all! can anyone tell me what I shall do now?
Same problem,

I have factory reset the device 3 times deleted everything, flashed using ODIN but no avail. Any body has any solution for this?
I am using:
Stock ROM XXMEB5
Stock Kernel
Stock Recovery
EDIT: Finally Solved the Problem. The phone was not resetting properly, so for users facing this problem there are 2 possible solutions:
1. Flash stock rom, goto stock recovery and from there wipe data if CWM does not do it properly (In my case CWM did not do it properly)
2. The other solution, the info i figured out was that it had to do something with a folder in Android/Data directory. Try to delete folders one by one to see if this fixes the error
I recently updated OTA to 4.1.2 and have suddenly got this same problem today, im not technically that great so all i did was save the files i wanted to keep and did a factory reset but nothing has changed. I can open my pictures in Smart Gallery Lock Free but im also having the problem that nothing deteles properly, everything i delete re-appears when i re enter Smart Gallery
I have tried removing the files directly from "My Files" but it will only work on the extSdCard not sdcard0 its says deleted but doesnt go anywhere.
I have looked at point 2. but i dont know what i can delete without making things worse
Hope somebody can help
same problem in my SGS II, nothing woks, wipe data reset factory i have done every thing nothing works my only alternativ eis using quickpic app
So after rooting my phone, my gallery has been crashing every time I try to open it.
I rooted with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709701
I tried clearing the data and clearing the cache and it didn't work.
I tried going in from my computer and copying out the data and deleting it so that I can restart with a new DCIM folder, but it's written protected... =/
Ideas anyone?
How do you mean password protected? Never seen that on an Android folder. Shouldnt you just remove this lock to help your app?

Sorry didn't mean to say password protected. I misspoke and meant to say written protection. I can't delete the files or edit it, but I can copy it.
Ok So it's slightly different from flashing a phone like my galaxy S2 I9100.
On my phone I should flash a ROM and a .zip package of gapps (google apps) among which is the gallery app.
Since you don't have to flash such a package I wonder whether you came from a KK ROM.
You said you rooted it like this. So I assume you came from stock KK ROM which comes with your AT&T Note 3, which should be no fine. But you can check that though.
Further ideas;
it could be a corrupt file somewhere on your device. You're gallery app will try to show it or make a thumbnail out of something which will result in a crash. For this you can try other gallery apps (I liked quickpic) and see if they crash.
Maybe you can unprotect the folder/files simply by:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5059293_rid-write-protection-file.html
On this thread it appeared to be an old SD card so that could be the problem as well.

Lol sorry for the misunderstanding. Just to clarify, yes I flashed it with the KK ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709701
and rooted with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
Yeah I've tried to unprotect it, but the options were grayed out. It won't let me click on them or unclick them.
When I access my DCIM folder it looks like this. The folder would contain my pictures and a bunch of other files that I don't recognize. I'm not sure whether it was from the ROM or the root.....
and with Quickpic it worked... ish~ I was able to open the app with a long loading time...and it also contains the other files that I don't recognize as well....
ugh i ended up just reformatting my SD card, i just wanted to get rid of the problem.
oh well. thanks for the help really appreciate it.
I have sony Xperia Z1 with stock rom and xposed flash. Obviously rooted too. If i have missed anything, you can ask me in the comments section
I have flashed zrcam but when I click pictures, they are very huge. I do not have any problem with it being captured as i can delete them but what makes me worried, is that two thumbnail files have being created in my thumbnails folder which is currently taking up 2.69 and 2.68gb of my storage each. One of the file name is .thumbdata3-1763508120.
I have tried deleting these files but they appear back again or my camera stops working. I rebooted the phone several times and the camera started working with those massive files appearing back again. Also i have tried deleting pictures in those thumbnail folder but the size of the thumbnail file doesn't decrease. Pictures taken from my phone are saved in sd card and these stupid files are in the internal memory .
My question is, is there any way i could delete this file or i could delete the zrcam? Where can i get the stock camera app to flash. Sorry but i didn't back it up. I never knew i would face this issue. Please if anyone could help me that would be great!
Thanks a lot!

If u wanna try the trick.. This is it
1- delete thumbnail folder in DCIM
2- create new file in DCIM ( .thumbnails )
3- then reboot

I have disabled the album app and then deleted those files but after sometime the files appear back again, the gallery app being already disabled. And i do not even have gbs of pictures. It can be 1gb total, maybe! Why are these files so big??

I have tried this trick by creating a file of the same name but that stopped my camera app. The app started crashing, so i rebooted back again and it was fine but on the other hand, the files came back again too, lol
