Now that I have my phone rooted. I want to be able to view my core system files. I.e. stock alert sounds and other core files. How do I do that. The file explorer I have now only shows me whats in my internal storage and sdcard.

Just search in the market for "root file manager. "Root Explorer" is by far the best in my opinion.

Guys,
Is there any free root explorer?
I live in Brazil and I can't buy paid applications from here. :-(
I need to backup some files (efs folder for instance) before updating the FW soon.
Also, is there anything special I should care to backup for security reasons?
(I dont need to backup any apps or settings)
I have the Euro I9000 with JFB/JF5.
Thanks,
Paulo
Why don't you just mount the phone using Kies or mount it as a USB Mass storage and copy the whole sdcard? No apps needed.

If you are looking for Root Explorer I assume that you are already rooted, then why don't just get yourself Market Enabler from the market and you're ready to buy any app you want!

Yes, I'm already rooted. I'll try that. Thanks.
Meanwhile, what are the important files to back up for security reasons, before fw update?
I hear a lot of talk about product code, efs folder, etc.
So, what should I backup (as root) before flashing?
I don't need to backup any apps or settings.
Thanks.
Anyone?
Thanks

ES File Explorer and File Expert do for free what Root Explorer does for money.
ES File Explorer is the better one, because it also connects with Dropbox.
File exlert.

I want to be able to move an apk into the system app folder and root explorer has been the only app that allows me to do that but I wanna do it for my gf's fascinate and I don't wanna buy it again. So far I tried androzip but it doesn't utilize root privilege and super manager wont let me open a zip for free (stupid). Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated

Not that i know of.
While i don't encourage pirating, i bet you could find a root explorer download if u do some googling.
AndRoot or Super Manager, got both free from the market. Android optimizer has a file manager that works as well. Free in market too.
Why don't you just log into your Google acct and redownload it on her phone

Just bluetooth the app over to her phone. As long as you stop right there then its all personal use. And if she passes it on....withhold love.

Why open a .zip? Extract it in ASTRO first.
Samsung Fascinate, Verizon
EB01 Superclean 2.4
Kenesis' TransMyst GBKB (EPIIIIIC)
Mob87's Honeycomb Theme
Stock Kernel
+1 for super manager

Actually I did extract then but then.once I got there I couldn't get it into system apps. I used super manager and I would try to copy the apk but everytime I pressed copy it would say "prepare to copy" then nothing happens.
I didn't even think about Bluetooth transferring it I'm gonna give it a try

I use ghost commander w.o any problems
You can always su in a terminal and do whatever you want, right? Might need to remount r/w but I think it's already mounted r/w on most roms.
I think the problem you are having with super manager is that your phone is not mounted correctly go to the market and download mount Rw/ro and click in the app and click set at boot and click rs and then you can move apps with that method

Silly question maybe but after you initiated the copy did you then move to the system/app folder a tap the paste icon? I have been able to use Super Manager to copy .apk files with no problems.
I see you are now using ghost commander. I might have to give that one a try.

ES file explorer has root access and zip/rar support.

Since you already bought the app, it technically wouldn't be illegal for you to just google rootexplorer.apk and install it to her phone. Just delete it after for moral reasons.

i vouch for this app as well.
I've been a long time user of Astro + Bluetooth module.
(I went to File Expert for a while but then came back.)
Astro of course, plays a supplementary role with Root Explorer.
More and more though, I notice that Astro just seems to lag big time. (I'm thinking that it may be because of really old code.)
I'd like to know if you also experience slowdowns when file browsing, and, what are you using?
If possible, please also share features (I'm looking for a file explorer that has batch bluetooth functionality, and if possible, also show the apk icons correctly.)
I use es file explorer.

Not that good. Can't access /data, can't change permissions. Root Explorer is #1 for a reason lol. IMHO totally worth the price
Root explorer and estrongs are the best. RE is the one I use all the time.
root explorer all the way.
I also prefer Root Explorer. Clean and simple but it does everything.
I use root browser. Its for free and xda members will have no ads. Only add a file named .root_browser to /system/etc and its ad free.

I'm rooted and on Android Revolution HD 7.0
When I try to access the root folder in explorers ES, Astro and Solid they ask for SuperUser permission, which I grant but then the folders show empty.
I had problems a few days ago (see link) - where I ended up sideloading a ROM from my computer - could this be the cause?

Can be a issue with the read and write with the Rom. Might need to flash latest version if Nike fixed it or whatever
