Question, I am currently on Eclispsed V2.0, with a 5.7.893 update patch level, if I want to update to the latest 902 do I need to flash back to stock, then 901, 902?

You should be able to flash .902 in stock recovery with no problems since your on .893. But I should tell you I'm not sure that version of Eclipse is compatible with the .902 update. You might have to get back to stock because of that rom. Another idea. If your at a computer or you dont care whats on your Internal SDcard THIS THREAD will get you to .902 with no problems. It does wipe INTERNAL SDcard so if want that stuff save it somewhere on your PC or put it on your External Sdcard.

Thank you for your reply, I am copying everything from internal SD, then I will give that a try. Ideally I wanted to get to 902 so I can either use Escliped 2.1 or ICS AKOP or similar rom for my Bionic since that's looking really promising.

Mine fails to update still, it gets to one point and aborts

This thread will get you to .902 tho.
It will wipe INTERNAL SDcard so copy the stuff you want to keep to a PC or just put it on your External SDcard

My .902 update keeps failing and I was wondering if you could help me. It fails and gives me the following message:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/blur_picasa.apk". [there are a bunch of unimportant numbers and letters here])
E: Error in tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any help is much appreciated.

So I heard there was an OTA update recently?

Has it been rooted? If I unroot will it install, then can be rerooted?

use the search button ffs
The new 5.7.893 OTA was just found today on stage 1 via cheesecake. Its only a 4 Meg update from those running 5.6.893. If you are using the p3droid forever root, it doesnt break it.
I'm running it and haven't noticed any issues except webtop seems broken.

From what I understand, only those who have installed one of the "leaked" version found via Cheesecake are seeing this OTA.
If you have a stock/release level Bionic, you wont see this...
on my x10i
i dont think ota works
on the motorola forums they stated that the ota is in testing and will be out in 30 to 60 days.

Quick question

I decided to start using my old revolution as a backup phone. It is basically a brand new refurbished replacement they sent me a while back that I've never used. When I go to update it to gingerbread it says that there isn't an update available. I'm just wondering if Verizon pulled the update when they ended its life and is there any way I can still root it and and install a gingerbread rom on it without first updating to gingerbread? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be on gingerbread to install a gingerbread ROM or you'll brick your phone, it's a complete pain in the ass to fix so I wouldn't try it. There are instructions to manually update to gb in the dev section if you have access to a pc...

Every one says 3g/4g is not working correctly, only 1x or 3g if your not in a 4g area.
Edit: I see there seems to be a work around, by turning on the LTE ram dump.
Is it a port of this?

You need to go to 902 from 893 not 901. I think you can flash stock 893 in rsd, use voodoo from the market to save root, then take the OTA update and restore root with voodoo, but I'm not 100% sure voodoo works on the bionic (it does on my transformer prime)

Xda has lost its luster. When I started rooting phones, everyone was linking to xda because this was the main source. Now I'm seeing that rootzwiki is the main source. Not sure why that is, maybe someone else can give an explanation

I think its because theres a lot of new users who don't read before they ask questions or start threads. I have seen rom threads where a question that was answered 10 times in the last 5 pages continues to be asked. The search function is horrible on here but if you can't read the last few pages of a thread, or 2-3 pages of thread titles before asking a question or starting a thread then you are just cluttering up the forum. I have seen a few devs leave simply because of all the people that wouldn't read a few pages, or even the OP before asking stupid questions which have already been answered. Also the moderation in some sub forums is horrible, that's another big reason I've seen a lot of devs leave.
Thank you for the explanation. Makes sense.

Make sure boostrap is uninstalled before trying safestrap that may be causing the issue? Like a failsafe built into the app so you wont accidentally try flashing to different recoveries?

I do not have boot strap installed. When i go to the boot loader and choose recovery it takes me to stock recovery. So i dont have bootstrap installed

That's not how Bootstrap or Safestrap works. The bootloader will always invoke stock recovery no matter if safestrap or bootstrap are installed. The locked bootloader of the Bionic prevents Stock Recovery from being replaced.
Do other root apps work on your phone? Maybe try grabbing SetDNS, or the free version of Screenshot ER?

I went 902 to 905 renamed zip to update.zip and it was a no go.
No need to rename it. But when you say "a no go" that's really not providing any information that people can help you with. Some versions of this put the update zip inside another zip with a crc file. If that's the version you have, you need to unzip the update zip and put that on your sdcard-ext. Then go into recovery and do the update from zip option.
Does this leak make all Bionics run at 1.2GHz, or are people like me with a certain revision processor not going to see that boost in performance?
Waiting official version hihihi

Only 1 number really? 1 number can be major differences. You really can't tell anything by a number.
Just an FYI.
As I was preparing to sideload this and had just gotten a fresh build of 905 loaded, I rebooted and was greeted with a notification to download this update to my phone!
I am not on the soak test list nor am I registered for the Bionic on Motorola's support site. This means that this version will definitely be the OTA and will likely start pushing out to all users very shortly.
