I upgraded to gingerbread but dont notice some of the gui visual differences. Anyone else notice this too?

Theres not much changed in the graphics itself. More underlying stuff has been changed.
For me the most important things are greatly improved battery life and properly working gps (quick fix). There are others reporting faster and more responsive overall user experience.
Its really worth to upgrade to 2.3

Mines a hell of a lot faster with Gingerbread... Love it, would recommend the upgrade...
Mines a p1000t, aussie telstra version. Has same modem as the A,T&T version in the states...
Rogers sgt p1000. I waz hoping for alot of the gui graphical updates in gingerbread.

Search tab forumn gingerbread has ALOT of bugs. Threads and threads with pages and pages.
Wait till oc/uv and a more stable kernel. Current kernel is a mix between tab software with a sgs driver. Because samsung hasnt released source code yet. Gingerbread isnt officially out in the us or most of the world for the tab.
An interesting note on gingerbread. Drop your lcd density to 165 and some stock icons upgrade to a totally different icon. Example is phoneicon.

If you want to change the GUI of your Tab, I suggest that you try out some launcher apps. LauncherPro for example, you can easily change how the homescreen looks.
Or if your open to custom ROM's, I suggest that you keep a close eye to the development of Overcome ROM. They are beginning to customize the GUI of the ROM, as well as optimization tweaks for the whole device.
Thanks for all of your answers

Hi guys!
I think it's about time to give some gingerbread to my galaxy s.
I'm having this doubt about which way to go. Official firmware or Cyanogenmod.
What do you recommend? What are the pros and cons of which one of them by your experience.
One 100% required feature for me is voodoo sound, but i guess i can have it both ways.
Thank you for your help!

Why not taking a look at the features list first:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about
If you think you really really need that stuff then maybe you want that ROM. The tethering and openvpn stuff sounds nice but I like my stock GB for now.

Thanks for your reply.
It's not a question features, it's a question of user experience.
For example, one thing that annoys me in the official gingerbread is the alarm clock bug, as it happens that I rely on it every single morning to get to work on time

Take the Overcome expiriance. It feels very fast and smooth. Everything works without any issues and the community support (if you need it) is great. At the moment Alterbridge does not stop his developing (next version of his rom is in the oven) so we will get more and more performance.
PS: for a nexus S look you can flash the GreengerBlack theme.
(I know, I know......)
I came from overcome to dip7's rom and I can tell you that it is faster but it's closer to stock. Overcome has icons that look cool for some people but i like dip7's rom better.

Cool thanks for the replys guys quick question if I was to flash it is there anything or any builds for the uk model as there is so many different types of tab models. I don't want a brick

If you make your choise for overcome, the installation will be easy as sleep. You just have to follow the guide on "teamovercome.net". The Rom is made for GSM Tabs like yours. It's allmost impossible to brick the Tab.

The honeycomb rom by spacemoose1 is not complete yet. The last build he released was about 3 months ago. I tested it and it was laggy and many things were broken. I recommend gingerbread for now until spacemoose1 gets onto a better stage of his build.

I really appreciate all the replys, ever since I got my nexus s I joined this site and I've never known a community to be so helpfull. I will go with the overcome, I watched the YouTube video of honeycomb it doesn't have the acceleration looks good but I'd rather have the "smooth as butter flash" I will hopefully flash before or after work tonight and will report back

Overcome or CM7 ?
I can see that overcome is pretty popular. I dont hear anybody touting CM7; I've got CM7 running on an HTC Desire HD and an LG Optimus One, and I'm pretty happy with it -- much better that the stock ROM, and on the O1, probably the nicest ROM out there. I'm just wondering a bit how much better worse it is compared to Overcome ?
I used to like cm7 but it is buggy as he'll Evan the last release was on my nexus s id have times where my screen would look like a burnt in screen animation, I would have to reboot all the time best roms i've used on my nexus is stock and miui only problem with miui us is the keyboard vibration don't work

Guys,
I just got a T-Mobile version of TAB,
I'd like to flash to Gingerbread, or a rom which supports Gtalk video and Skype,
What are some of your suggestions?
Thank you
Overcome supports it I think I'd start with that if you can get overcome

Definitely what you want. I've been an Overcome fan for a while now, been very happy with it.
I use Overcome since version 2.0.0 RC1. In my opinion it is the best ROM for the Gtab 7". It is fast, does not have too much bugs and the support by Team Overcome is very good. The development of the ROM is fast and continually.
Not to forget the very good installation instruction and the Change Log for every new version of the ROM.
I'm looking for a ROM for my girlfriend's Captivate. Basically the one giant caveat she has with her current ROM (CM7 stable) is horrible battery life. I'm talking -10% from unplugged with absolutely no screen on time. One problem with the phone is the power button is stuck, so she relies on volume wake and sleep from the notification power widget. I need something that can provide these two features (can be GB or ICS, doesn't matter) plus the best possible battery life (I know the usual YMMV, but at least on an average). She doesn't even care about other features since she only uses Facebook, Gtalk, and the regular calling and messaging features, so it can be as stripped down as possible. Oh, and she likes Touchwiz, so if it can have that it'll be a nice bonus. Thank you!

There is no "best". My experience native roms will offer best battery life in general.

Well you right there's no best edit that but try using an ics ROM they all have good battery life...

Jelly bean is better imo. It never lags and is extremely smooth. It has more features than ice cream sandwich. It marked when android became as smooth as ios

stock rom is good but you will need to root and uninstall some bloatware to get it smooth
ics
I've stuck with ICS for the time being. My device is my life during working hours. I use email, phone, sms in that order A LOT during the
day. Typically 10-30 emails send/receive, 2000 minutes/month phone, and maybe 100 text/month (not a lot). I might use the camera
1-2 times per day to document something I see in the field (service tech). ICS is rock stable, pretty good battery life, and the blue tooth,
which I use 100% of the time, is stable.
I've seen scattered reports of BT having issues, some lags, poor battery life, and personally, for my use, I don't see any compelling reason,
for my usage pattern, to update.
