I was at 100% battery at around 2:40pm today. I left and went to my brother's for Christmas lunch. Now, at 4pm, it's at 67%. All I did was Facebook (via the browser) and listen to some music (not the entire time). I frequently killed all the running apps, too.
I'm running Axura RC 2.5. I flashed it via Clockwork Recovery.

Then how do you manage backgrounded apps that you aren't using? They just drain the battery, no?

No, they don't. It's all related to how the Android OS manages applications. There's a ton of info about it - just google it. If you have battery draining issues, most of the time it's because you left something running that's constantly downloading/connecting to 3G or is doing something CPU intensive. Take the new Facebook app for example - if you use the chat function and you don't log out, it keeps you logged in and that will suck your battery dry. If 3G is spotty, you'll also have battery drain as the phone switches back and forth from edge to 3G, trying to connect.
I used a task killer when I first got my phone, because some moron at the AT&T store recommended it. My battery life got much better when I unloaded that crappy app.

I don't use FB chat, nor have I had unstable connections. I've had constant HDSPA all day. Could it be an issue with the ROM? I have WiFi, Bluetooth, & GPS turned off, as well as Brightness as low as it can go.
Hold down the home button and open task manager...
Also i noticed that using 3g on low signal kills the battery, try to use wifi...
You can also try assonance, i think its clocked 200 mhz less than axura, so you might perceive more battery, and it is as stable
Or try recalibrating the battery
Pd maybe it is an issue with the modem draining too much battery, you could try a different one, i bet if you dissable 3g your bat will improve a lot

Custom ROMs give you more speed, more power, more more more. That comes at a cost. You will have crappy battery life with some ROMs, and other ROMs may have better battery life.

For normal day to day work, EDGE should be fine. Switch from EDGE to 3G when u feel need more data transfer speed. This should help.

Depends on the Rom I guess... And ive done the usual... Checking email txts facebook and xda and on the phone all day.
Oh.. And I was taking pics all day too. Not bad for this phone.

I wanted to try Assonance, but whenever I tried flashing it via Clockword recovery, it froze at 'installing update..'. About to try Darkys 7.0.1.
Could it be a deffective battery? I used to get 7 hrs heavy use (web, games, music) with my original battery. I bought a backup battery (same thing, Samsung OEM 1500mh) and I am impressed I am now getting 12-18 hrs with heavy to moderate use. I guess I had a bad battery to beging with.
elektrisk,
has your battery life changed since you first flashed axura? if so, it is most likely due to an app you installed after flashing the rom. if your battery life has always been "awful" then you should consider flashing a different kernel, or another rom & kernel altogether
Hey guys, just got my O2x a week ago and its great. It was flashed with 2.3 and at some point I tested updating using LG Suite and I went to 2.2.2
Anyway, just asking if how long do your batteries (stock) last? Tested mine about 3 days ago and within a day it got drained. Just using browser and played some music and that's it, no Youtube or heavy games or whatsoever. Already rooted my phone and removed everything that LG has there except for the keyboard, Suite, Mobile Support, and Home Launcher. Still, same results. Please help!!
I have been using the free version of juice defender and that has help my battery a little so I now cab get a good couple of days out of it. The free version only really stops data when the phone is locked but it seems to work quite well. I also installed juice plotter to see when my battery gets eaten.
Thanks will do that. So basically battery drains more if mobile data is on? Haven't really experience that on my old phone (which is not Android OS).

I had to charge mine every night and sometimes 2 times a day.
Now, on a GB ROM, and with mobile data OFF, it last for at least a day (24h). This is with WiFi on (when awake of course).
Install a widget to quickly turn on/off mobile data, and only use it when you need. Then your battery will not drain that quickly.
Sorry for my bad english
My battery "record" is over 2 days Well, actually allmost 4 days, but then I didn't have WiFi on neither..
Mobile data is the killer only for badly done apps. Things like fb and twitter that sync every hour etc. Make sure when you install every app you check its sync status. Make them as infrequent as possible
Also try see how low you can get the brightness. Mine stays at 30% until out in the sun (have a widget to up it).
Remember even if not using your phone at home etc to switch tho wifi on as its much better
On good days can get 30/40 hours between charges when low use
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Worth to mention is that to get the less battery drain from turning on the wifi you have to turn of the data. Some people forget that and leave both on making it a double drain.
My only tip that I have that I know works is use it as little as possible. Turn off every thing that's not needed in the matter of syncing.
I'm no expert but is that right? All of the data goes through the wifi when on and connected so data connection is irrelevant surely?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Thanks for the input and somehow, I can feel the effects now. Also put LBE Security and turned off most mobile data permission on my apps and even if my Wifi is on, not much of a battery drain but at least it has less loss.
i think that 1day is the real time of this battery with 1charge...intense use...

Yes when wifi is on data is automatically off.... You cannot have both on...
Wifi is no very power consuming when it's connected idle to a network, but think to turn it off if no hotspot is there because network scan drains a lot.

I have a same problem. Using my Optimus with MIUI ROM (Gingerbread 2.3.5) i only have 7 hours.
In my opinion, turning off all data connection to improving battery life, it's not a good idea when we choose Android phone.

O_O My phone came with v20c 2.2.2 and had no issues, ran 3days per charge. Wish I had backups of original ril and BB for they were 100% on any I've tried since going through a bunch of custom roms.
I get 10 hours of *idle* time with 3g enabled. With Juicedefender things are okay, I almost always make it through the day and sometimes even 2 days when I'm not doing anything, but the battery just goes nuts if you use it. Sometimes I browse the web for a minute and bam 5% is gone, and I'm thinking to myself "what the hell just happened?".
You have to be very careful with apps that do not close properly. I discovered that Spotify was draining my phone like crazy and causing it to become very hot (draining it even faster, heat = dead battery in no-time) with no way to prevent this other than uninstalling the app. Then I installed a beta version of Spotify from their website and all is well. AccuWeather also goes nuts sometimes but that's resolved by deleting the widget on my home screen.
I run the latest nightly of CM7. Battery life seems to be about the same as the stock ROM for me. What's interesting is that active 3g data use drains the battery more than playing a game. I can play emulated PSX games for about 5 hours straight on a full battery with data controlled by JD.
Everyone should try the latest rom v20e (or the derivated version topogigi's rom). For me, it improves battery a lot! I don't even use Juice defender (and some people said it worsens battery).
v20e
yes Im on V20e and my battery is preety good !
Almost 2 days and I write almost 100 messanger/day and always wifi on checking emails,fb and more !
Hey guys, haven't posted since testing for about week, I guess...
Anyway, battery seems to be ok now. Juice Defender and Plotter works great, plus now on sleep, it just drain 1% per 2-3hrs or sometimes nothing at all, and its not SOD thats for sure.
Also tried Battery Calibration, it worked somehow also so with lots of messaging, wifi, FB, Tap Sonic, plus downloading torrents, lasted 24hrs in full charge with constant use.
2g + Wi-Fi drains the battery much faster than 3G + Wi-Fi for me. Both have a good signal strength.
Anyone know why this is?
Hi.
Just this week, i started to have this problem.
Each time i try to connect to the internet using data, my tab loses gsm signal, and consequently, data signal. This happens everytime even if my battery still has charge.
However, when i plug the tab to the electric outlet, internet thru data goes back to normal.
Thinking that something's wrong with the battery ( as i have flashed so many roms before), i tried all battery calibration methods, to no avail. I even tried wiping everthing and have a fresh, clean install of my current rom (boca rc2), but the problem persists.
I've been using the tab for 15 months now. Do you think there's a problem with the battery that it should be replaced? Or did i just screw up with the settings?
Hope someone out there can provide me a solution.
Thanks.
Do you use any battery management app, there are a lot of applications that do that like Norton utilities which has battery saving profile.

No i dont use any batt management app. Does it have something to do with the voltage control settings? But i have not touched anything on it, i just leave everything on default. The current defaults in boca msi rom are io scheduler: noop, governor: ondemandx 100-1200 mhz.

i have random fc's with a few games and with my launcher (tsf). you think it has something to do with this?
My battery drain very fast after upgrade to ics stock rom.
Got any way to solve it, like settings, etc?
you could use the built in power saver mode.
But we need to find the culprit, Install a monitoring app and /or check the battery stats regularly to see whats causing it.
How did you update to ICS ? Did you do a full wipe before hand ?
direct upgrade thru kies without wipe data
ok, well do not wipe data until you flash a safe kernel.
monitor your battery over the next few days with a monitoring app like watchdog or similar
if it doesnt improve, we will look at doing a wipe and starting from fresh
well....got the same prob....am on rocket rom v7...
the issue is that the battery drains really fast when m connected to h+ network!!
i even put the fone on flight mode and kept it like tat whole night and in the morning cpu spy showd that the fone was on sleep for awmst 7 hours, and the battery drain was just 3 percent!!so tat seems awrt!!
i jus dunno why the battery drains so fast when m connected to the network!!
plzzz a soln will be appreciated!!
Thanxx!!
Maybe you could try a different radio ??
If your current radio isnt finding a strong signal, your phone will be constantly searching for something better, Thus resulting in a lot of drain

It is probably just L2_hsic bug.
Just reboot the phone and search the forums for ways to prevent causing the bug.

I test one method, 3 day, seem like work to reduce battery drain issue.
1. turn off phone
2. remove battery for 2 min
3. plug in battery
4. start phone
This 1 i read from web site/forum.
The phone was bought 2 weeks ago and I have battery problems after 2-3 days. So the battery drain is huge, i got 10% (100%-90&) after 6 hours with the phone idle no use at all. What can I do?

Mine (bought on March 2014) with power saver on goes from 100% to 96% in one night (data, Wi-Fi are off). I think that is normal. Battery lasts 2 days normal use (not much screen on).
You can do a Factory reset. Don't install apps and watch if the drain is still there.
1. If the drain disappear install your apps one by one to see witch cause the drain.
2. If the drain is still there send it to service you have a battery problem.

Did you installed some apps that may cause?
Is this brand new or used phone you bought?
need a bit more info.
go to settings - power - usage, and look at the app usage. You should see the typical apps you use a lot, but also look for apps that look out of place. like an app you don't use much, but uses a lot of battery use.
also look at settings - more - data usage, and scroll down. That will show which apps are using the most data, and also if it's foreground or background data. Don't worry too much about foreground data, that is data use happening while you are using the app. Instead, look for apps that are using a lot of background data. if you click on the app, you have an option to disable background data for those apps.
Note some apps don't function properly without background data enabled, like some google services/play store. also make sure the play store options are set to never auto update.
fwiw, I usually get 2.5-3 days between charges with light use.
Sounds like a major issue

If the phone is that brand new, it could be a malfunctioning phone that eats through battery life. I would try taking it back to where ever you bought it from and try getting a new phone. See if that helps. Otherwise you may need to purchase a different battery from a reputable seller in order to get a good amount of battery life.
Cheers!

Those should be on the top of your list. You might have a faulty battery then. Have you tried a factory reset?
So, I tried a factory reset but still battery drain. I have another HTC One, with heavier usage and still goes all the day with 30-40% left at night. I will talk to Vodafone to sent the phone to warranty but I think they will say It's because you unlocked the bootloader, put a custom rom, and there is a chance to lose my warranty. Probably I'll buy a battery case

You could Greenify the apps running on the background. That way, they will only be running when you open them and not after you close them. This could help too.
