What is the BLN mod?
The BLN mod turns the touchkey backlights into a notification led.
It enables the notification led api for any android application that supports notifications by led.
If you dont have the BLN mod installed, the app provides you instructions how to install the BLN mod.

Many thanks for this, works perfect with Chris's v1.7.
Does anybody know if there's a way to get notified about missed calls and SMS only?
I don't want the blinks for unread emails.
Hey Criskleo can you add new jkay mod 13.6.1 to criskelorom v7. Thanks.
Thanks Criskelo for your work on this. I have stock LB1 with Abyss 4.2 kernel and BLN Pro. The missed phone call works but no stock SMS or Gmail with this Services Jar. Anyway to get it to work with LB1?
Thanks

Hi dudes,
I'm new user of Galaxy S...!
1. What is the BLN?
2. How can i used?
some one explain it please!
Not summary...
BLN = Backlight notification
The BLN mod turns the touchkey backlights into a notification led.
It enables the notification led api for any android application that supports notifications by led.
BLN needs to be supported by the kernel your running.
After u make sure that your kernel supports BLN, u can get from market "BLN Control". This application gives you control over the BacklightNotification (bln) mod settings on your phone.

There are many custom rom's and kernel's check the Android Development section and find one that fits you.
For example: I'm running Juwe's ROM 5.3 JVR that comes with Semaphore kernel ( supports BLN ). But u can flash any kernel u want
Advice : if u are running a stock rom and never flash a custom rom - read a lot before flashing
PS : Dont forget to hit the thanks button if I helped you
hey guys!
I'm just wondering about the relationship among theese three beast..xD
for example, I've ICS Stunner and I tried to flash another kernel supposed to have BLN support..awesome! well..stuck at kernel logo..conclusion? happy wiping and reflashing (we are flashaholic, aren't we?! ). so I realized that kernel and rom must be compatible.
have someone managed to get BLN working on Stunner?

The only problem we have here is we dont have options in kernels that work on ICS. On GB roms we have fanco abyss etc kernels that support the rom and BLN app for notifications. That's why we normally use the abyss 3.9 kernel in recovery in ICS roms whenever we want to flash anything in recovery or revert to GB.
And as per i know there isn't any kernel that suppport ICS and also support BLN notifications.
thank you very much!

You are very welcome!! Hitting thanks button will also do
As per title, I don't really like NoLED, but BLN requires the kernel to support it.
Any current (LPF, LPY) kernels that have this enabled yet?
I haven´t update to ICS because the BLN is very important for me. I´m waitting for a Abyss kernel for ICS.
If anybody knows if there is a kernel for ICS with BLN, please let me know.
I dout it very much they will be one for a long time much more important things (super brick) that's devs are trying to fix
Also most kernel devs are not keen on bln battery killer
I have this weird and interesting bug - the Backlights work properly for instance when using the menus and so on. But when it is supposed to blink (display turned off) it glows permanently. I have tried most settings available to me, ending up disabling the backlights to not drain more battery.
I have flashed various Roms (GIngerbread, MacKay 4.2, CM10.1, AOKP 4.1.2) and no matter how much I flashed and resetted the device, the problem stayed. I tried different kernel (up to Semaphore 2.6.6) as well.
What you could try is to download and install nstools from the market and there inside activate bln on the last site....or with bln pro, which is not free, it should be working too.

Thanks for the response. I tried NSTools with MacKay - no difference.
Buying BLN Pro and Semaphore solved the problem for me. Everything else did not work.
maybe they wontet it so you had to buy it

Which Mackay Kernel do you use? Because in stockkernel which is included in the rom, there is no support of BLN. Mackay has for JB separate Kernels, also for BLN:
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/kasper_h/kernels/
and here is the kernelthread from Mackkay:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842324
Edit: with semaphore it sould go....but to administate Sema, its better to use semaphore app (from the market) and not using NStools.
Hello everyone.
Here's my question : is it possible to include BLN support in a Kernel which works with a TW ROM ? Or to create a new kernel with BLN support for a recent TW ROM?
NoLED is draining a lot of battery so BLN seems to be the best option on our Galaxy Note...
Thank you !
