Another nice phone from LG..... good news. I wonder if they are going to announce if it is coming to the U.S. at the MWC.

Another nice phone? You obviously never dealt with the G2X and the pile of garbage it was.

A vid of it.

Actually i did and i generally agree with you as most LG phones were released the past 2 years or even more are not that great. I was thinking more compared to their new releases such as the LG Parada 3.0 which i personally think its a pretty cool looking phone. I just hope that they improve their software so it would truly utilize the nice specs. Looks is not the only deciding factor here

All sounds good, but when are phones going to get past the 8MP camera hurdle? The Nokia n8 had 12mp what 2 years ago now?

Megapixels are completely meaningless, how have you not grasped this by 2012?

That's right, but in case anyone is interested Sony Xperia S (and Xperia Ion too I think) has a 12MP camera with Exmor (CMOS) sensor.

I work with LG in Korea and they are very worried about their mobile business at the moment. Samsung are destroying them in the domestic market.

Hi oh mighty flippant one... the n8 also has the Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash ... are these meaningless too?

Well I think LG should know why they are losing to Samsung... They make great hardware, but scrappy software(relatively good in p880 though) and horrible customer support(In other countries I don't know about Korea). They don't improve much despite much complains. How would you expect them to not lose to Samsung, which is well received by many?

Nope, but they weren't the topic. When it comes to Fotography in these tiny devices with their tiny lenses, he's right: more than 8 MBits are indeed completely useless. Even much large sensor chips in say a Canon G10, which had 14 Mpixels, had to many ... which is why Canon went back to LESS Mpixels. In fact, more MPixels in such a tiny thing are contraproductive, you get more electrical interference and no gain. The most important thing here is the sensors size, which is tiny in all phones. But: Since they all got completely crappy lenses, it's true, that the better one in the N8 can improve qiality, even with the tiny sensor. If you want anything more decent, the senor has to grow and there needs to be much better (foldable?) optics. The N8 is about the best you can do with such a tiny setup.

Seems so ... although, I had two updates on the 4X after I bought it .. that's not bad. And the phone runs pretty well stock. Maybe they did learn a bit. I'd find it sad, if they get into problems, because no big player like Samsung should be allowed to dominate everything ... pseudo monopolies are crap. Samsungs support is also quite far from perfect. The Update App from them on my Samsung Notebook fails often, can't connect, their server structure for it is extremely slow and you can't even manually download the drivers instead, because they don't maintain their download area properly. Asus is far better for instance in that respect (and still not perfect). Samsung also got too big to care about customers much anymore, but their software has a better developer team than LG. (I also find LGs update software for the PC unspeakably terrible).

[Q] Optimus 4X PANORAMA MODE

Hi everyone
I just bought myself an LG Optimus 4X, upgraded it to V10f...I am from Europe, and perhaps I will root the phone. I have not decided yet. I changed this phone and went from my old Apple 3G, which became very slow. But the main reason why I was looking for a new phone is because I have a 3 year old daughter, and I do not have my camera with me all of the time. And some of the pictures from iPhone could have been better. I was thinking of buying iPhone 4S, afterwards wanted iPhone 5, but the line was just too long. Also, I was a bit disappointed by Apple not making the iPhone a tad bigger at least 4,3 inch. Which I think is the right size. Anyway while looking at Samsung S3 from my colleagues at work, to which I had to configure all those Galaxys I decided to buy something a bit different. And I really liked the Optimus 4X simple design. I liked the Optimus Black before, but decided not to buy it because of 5MP camera. I have my 4X now for the second day. I haven’t transferred around 800 contacts from my iPhone yet, since I am looking for the best and pain free way to do that. But I will find a way that does not bother me. The main issue so far or complaint I have is that in all the reviews on the web, YouTube...No one mentioned that PANORAMA mode is limited to VGA resolution. What is up with that LG? The phone has four-4 nVidia cores, and all we get is VGA? Any ideas how to change that? Also taking pictures one by one while pressing button repeatedly has some lag.
Does this mod do anything?

10X better the KU990 Viewty 5MP camera than this one of 8MP...

The phone is not bad, camera is!
I get pretty ok picture quality. Isn't a S3 but hey the 4x is around half of what a s3 cost and less then a one x and still offers all the goodness. So i think it isn't a bad deal. But there are always people never happy about anything.

It really do... Need to know more about cause a lot of people think that "our" is good and, for me is the worst camera I ever had since phones starts to have 5MP at least...
To the OP,
I personally use JB Camera+ (it is $1.99 from Google Play) but it works really great with Panorama shots and it shoot in full 8MP.. Best thing, is that it also comes with the JB Gallery app. Very much worth it in my books.
Give it at try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.camerajbplus&feature=nav_result#?t=W10.
IDK how much this will cost in Europe tho.

Is the N6 still worth it ? vs 5X ?

Long story short, my current phone is 3 years old.. and It's becoming unreliable..
I was gonna get the 5X.. but seeing the specs of the 6 made the decision tough...
The Nexus 6 is a lot more bang for buck.... You're getting a huge screen, a metal frame, OIS, NO USB C crab, 3 GB RAM, Water resistance, better speaker.
A fingerprint scanner would have been great, but for the price of the 6, I can't justify even spending extra 50$ to get the 5X.
I'm not sure though about the performance difference between the two. SD805 and SD808 don't look that different spec wise.
I'm just worried about the size though. I'm coming from a tiny 4.3 inch screen (i9100).. and I know this phone is huge that some people actually complained about its big size..
Currently it's sold for about 350$ (32gb version) in a local retailer here... Is there any cheaper deals out there for a new one ?

You can find it on places like swappa for alot less.
The size does take a bit to get used to. Not to much though.

That depends on where you live. One is for the US and North America and the others is for the rest of the world. That depends on if you can connecto to 4g/3g where you are.

Mostly because too many people that are making them are using subpar parts. The tech will take a few years to take hold. I am in the same boat. I am in no rush to change. Right now I have one cable for all my devices. I dont want to have to carry another cable around.

Well, currently for me... An Old USB port is much better... I won't have to buy and carry adapters with me wherever I go... Maybe in 2 or 3 years when USB C become more mainstream, I'd sure buy a phone with a USB C. But now, NO !
And the fact that some of the adapters being sold on Amazon can be considered deadly for your device and can cause problems is another downside...

Your brain and hands are used to the Nexus 6 size quite fast and after that there is no going back to a 5-5,5 inch screen imo. Besides the camera and fingerprint scanner the N6 is superior to the 5X , especialy the speakers are much better and i think the screen is very good.

Not going to sugar coat it here, the Nexus 6 takes horrendous photos in low light in my experience. Other than that it's a great phone and I highly recommend it. The 5x on the other hand should take the same quality photos as the 6P since they have the same hardware. The 6P takes great photos and therefore so does the 5x, unless my logic is flawed somewhere.

yeah, it's acceptable. The issue that I have is the camera simply not letting enough light in in those dark situations. It's workable though, and in adequate lighting with HDR and OIS it makes it a good shooter. I absolutely love this phone and actually just ordered a replacement. It is going to have update support for a while and is a beastly device.

lol, but i disagree here very much. sure, the nexus 6 camera isnt as good as the n6p/5x camera, but so isnt the last iphones camera. the n6 actually has a very good camera, sure its not the best, but its far from anything id ever call horrendous. well, i guess i could if i never knew how to properly use a camera. but i do, know how to use a camera, and im calling it a fairly decent camera. just take a look at me google+ account if you want to see proof https://plus.google.com/+semeonkorsunsky

Your photos do look great....
I've seen enough already... The Nexus 6 Camera with a Manual Camera app does take amazing photos...
coming from nexus 5, the N6 went for as little as 250 USD on amazon during the week after black Friday. I got it for 289$. Camera is good for a smartphone camera. the new camera app is much faster on everything. timely updates from Google or XDA. I would choose 5x because its a plastic LG anyway. if night pics and fingerprint are a must, you have other choices better then 5x at that base price.
the only con of N6 is dimensions, and that only your hands will complain. but your eyes will thank you. Also, as mentioned, there is no going back from 6 inch screen.
I haven't had my hands on the 5x or the 6p. I did come from the HTC One Max (after being my dd, the LCD died suddenly and so did the charge port). Bought a HTC One M7 as a replacement. Took time readjusting to a more common screen size. Then upgraded to the N6. I couldn't be happier. Plus, I've always been a Motorola fanboy. I came from an iPhone 4 and switched to a Droid 4. I like the feel of N6 and the ease of unlocking the BL and rooting. I actually have mine underclocked to 2.2ghz with custom hotplugging that uses only 2 cores most of time unless under heavy load. Camera is nice. It's not the best out there, but you can't argue with 13mp shooter. I installed the M9 camera apk and it works nicely as well. Only thing that will draw me away from the N6 in future years will be something of higher caliber that INCLUDES Expandable SD.
Did I mention the incredible battery life I get?

Well, the majority of my photography takes place on Snapchat which has no manual mode and fairly poor Android support so, my experience has been different then yours. You have proved to me though if you use manual settings and put a little effort in, the nexus 6 can take pretty nice outdoor shots that are not horrendous. I'm sorry.

Is the OnePlus 3T still a great phone one year later?

Hello again! I've been looking at the OnePlus 3T for a while now, but I didn't want to jump the gun yet.
It was a steady $500 CAD here in Canada for a 64GB and I found a 128GB OnePlus 3T that comes with 2 cases,
for $480 CAD, now, the phone has been out for almost exactly one year now and it's only now $120 off, so this
leads me to my questions, should I go ahead and purchase it? Is it still a great choice, one year later?
As long as you don't need the fake bokeh effect that a dual camera setup gives, you won't regret buying this phone.
I've had mine since April and still love it. Even though that new Pixel XL 2 is tempting, I essentially will do the same thing on both phone and can't justify the money when my 3t is still running excellent

Yes it is. I bought mine in December and it is one of the best purchases that I have made.
To elaborate, I have been mostly stock except for magisk root, and never faced any issues with this device. I use it for work and play, and it never disappoints. I would not change this phone except maybe for the iPhone X (but a $1000+ phone? screw that)
I came in late to the OP3/3T game and got mine in June of this year and haven't looked back since. Sure I 'want' a Pixel 2 XL but damn that price... The 3T has been amazing to me. I've got mine unlocked, using FreedomOS CE with Magisk, AdAway, Substratum (Ozone & Swift Dark), Nova Launcher with Prime & Google Companion, Google Pixel Dialer/Contacts, Google Pixel 2 Live Wallpaper and a slew of other minor things here and there. OnePlus gives you serious freedom and the devs are already pushing hard on custom O ROMs. If you're here on XDA you most likely enjoy tinkering and this phone will let you go above and beyond simply because of the great folks in the various forums and communities let alone the ease to do so because of OnePlus keeping it open.
Side note: You can get the fake bokeh effect easily by using Google Camera with a Magisk Module to fix the crash bug. Neat stuff but I just use the included OnePlus Camera myself.
How much more is the 5? I love my 3t and couldn't be happier with it.

You're probably going to get a lot of us fan-boy-ing about it. Do you have any questions about it in particular? As far as I'm concerned, it's the best phone I've ever had & may betray my normal cycle of purchasing phones (every 2-2.5 years) and just hold onto it.
You're super free with the software. People say it's "unbrickable" (though I just had the scariest experience of my entire custom-flashing-life of the last 7ish years, but it was resolved either way). No removable battery & expandable storage sucks dongers but that's the trend regardless. The specs are far beyond what's needed for a telephone if you ask me. The price for what you get in hardware + software freedom is craziness (in a good way).
The ONLY THING is if you really need amazing camera HARDWARE, then you should be looking at Samsung, Apple, or the new Pixels. That being said, there are many camera mods enabling you to use (on custom ROMs) the OnePlus camera, the Pixel camera with HDR+, the Snapdragon camera, and if you aren't already aware, learning how to use Manual mode can do wonders...

I am just looking for a speedier phone than I have right now, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which I am sure is a definite night and day difference in performance, the OnePlus 3T caught my eye back in February, and the price seemed quite good for such a stunning phone. I do have a few questions, how do you rate the fingerprint sensor? Is it fast or super fast, compared to maybe a iPhone 6S or 7, but that might be stretching it. How does the camera do at night? In a poorly lit room? Thanks for the reply!

Sorry for the late reply! The OnePlus 5 is going for $720 Canadian Dollars for the 64GB, whilst the used OnePlus 3T 128GB is going for $480 Canadian Dollars.

I'm the wrong dude for both of those questions probably. I only messed with fingerprint a littttttle bit on my s5. Compared to that, OP3T is blazing fast.
For the camera, have barely used it honestly! lol Good luck!

I am using stock OOS and the fingerprint is blazing fast.
Regarding the night camera, installing the Google modded apk is the way to go. It offers fantastic night shots.

Absolutely! I love it like a child. It's my baby.
I have often said to OnePlus that their customer's service should favorably compare to the phones they produce. Their customers service, in a word, is awful. It is somewhat heartening that it is getting better.
They produce a wonderful product. Their support leaves a little more time, I hope. I have never come across a situation quite like this. The quality of their products far exceeds their support. I think. in time that situation will change. They will improve or fail and that would be a shame.
XDA could learn a lesson from what I said about OnePlus. Their product is truth. Their support also leaves something to be considered.

Portrait mode (with dual camera) is fake bokeh also. Just not as fake. It's true, the Google lens blur often results in "fuzzy" edges on the subject, or obviously fake/cheesy looking Photo-chopped effect.

Yeah, it's as good as we can get with the single-lens and OP / OP3T setup. I don't use it even though it's neat for up-close 'macro' like shots, but the fakeness of it does show through most of the time. I'm saving now to get another DSLR and do love my OP3T for quick on-the-go snaps. It is good for that, the picture quality is leaps above most phones out there, and for it's price point, not really anything to compare to it.

Not literally, no. But "portrait mode" is just an Apple baloney marketing name for "fake bokeh effect". Now every phone manufacturer feels like they need dual camera and "portrait mode" (which I'm sure Apple is suing them for using that name). Even dual camera is just software trickery (in conjunction with dual camera) to fake a bokeh effect that will never be possible with the focal length of a smartphone camera.
Obviously, you won't get the exact same effect as a phone that has dual camera (OP5, iPhone plus, etc.).

Back to the original question: I would say YES it's still a great phone.
I was unimpressed with the OP5, with its mostly incremental improvements, and the "jelly effect". We've actually seen a number of folks on this forum, looking to get a new phone, and opting for the 3T instead of the 5.
Of course there are other, impressive options (Pixel 2, Galaxy S8) with their own pros and cons. But of course they are quite expensive, and don't measure up to the shear value of the 3T; with its combination of build quality, value, and dev community here on XDA.
I don't find myself yearning for the "latest and greatest" phone yet. Maybe next year. The 3T is holding it's own quite well, and still a very solid and capable device.

Why LG is so stupid

that it can't implement the "night mode" similar to that of Huawei P20 Pro? So the camera could produce clear night shot while being holding stable for 3 seconds and stitch several photos together using neuro network algorithm

I analyzed the video, there are 3 different circles below representing the 3 cameras on the back . The scene is at night, so LG wants to show us that their new device can take very good pictures at night even with the potrait mode. it comes with build in portrait . The amazing thing is that the switch between the 3 cameras runs smoothly a.f
Also i think one camera stands for Ultra Zoom + Portrait mode, the second one for our well known Wide Cam and the third for the normale cam
Well I think LG is stupid for a few reasons:
- They've started to follow other phones starting with the v30 (stupid glass bodies, water resistant non-removable batteries, their own AI software, stupid notches)
- stopped supporting removable batteries, the main reason I switched to LG from Samsung in the first place
They were trend setters (dual lens cameras, DAC, minimal bezels, module design) and now they're just another company in the sea of smart phones that copies whatever trends Apple and Samsung start.
Their prices aren't competitive, there really is nothing to me (outside of the dac) that really differentiates it from the competition.
My next phone will likely be the Note (because I loved the stylus on the note 3) or the premium budget brands (OnePlus, Huawei)
The only way I'd stick with LG is if they offered a large battery capacity versus the competition or made it a real Note competitor by making it the premium version of the Stylo.

Problem I have with lg and others who were different too. LG used to be one of the last of a dying breed, and that was a great thing. Now the market is flooded with ugly notch phones, but wait, there's a way to hide it...stupidity
In past LG phone looked different from other phones, now story is different... Every phone on market is the same (almost)...

Well most of us think the V30 was the best android in years especially since they are rooted now. Also V30 was LGs original design. 6 inch form factor at 5.5 oz with all the high end bells and whistles except for front cam.
That's how I feel. I loved the V30 top to bottom. I'll stand by any company that has the balls to keep a headphone jack. Not many others can.

To be fair, I think LG is the most unerrated phone manufacturer. Yes, phones up to the G5/V20 were always lacking in quality compared to rivals. The V30 had great design but a very uneven screen, however they've greatly improved with the V35, G7, and now the V40. I'd still say the Note 9 is this year's best phone, but in a few months, one will likely be able to pickup a V40 for hundreds less than comparable Samsung or Pixel models. One can already get a new V35 ThinQ for about $600. If they'd release them at a lower price or bump up battery life, I think they'd sell quite well.
As for the notch, the biggest issue is that Google has not optimized the software for them yet. The bright white theme makes notches look terrible, but a universal dark theme would greatly help. Some apps crop the screen, others have tiered headers going right through it. LG is on the right path with allowing one to hide the notch, while keeping the status bar there but Google needs to catch up.

I would disagree. The whole reason LG thought that their phones didn't sell well was because they were too different, like back placed volume buttons and back power button it the finger sensor. So, they decided that people shy their non-standard approach and made recent phones to be like others in hopes to boost sales

They said in the beginning of 2018 that they will not make rush phones no more. Instead, they will wait until every other company would make their bad designed phones and only AFTER that will release LG own better than equivalent's designed phone.
I.E. LG could already release flip phone. But instead, like they said, they wait until Samsung will unveil Galaxy X flip phone, see what Samsung will make poor and release than better than rival's phone.

It's pointless. Larger battery means longer charging time and more hefty weight. It's bad for sales because vast majority of buyers aren't us, geek but mostly ladies and they can't use hefty phones. They need phone to be 150g in weight. That's Galaxy S range, not 200G of P20 Pro. That's why P20 Pro sells too bad. No one really needs large battery because it can be recharged fast, wirelessly and even wirelessly fast. So, battery argument is pointless.
Instead, LG phones are better designed, built, have vastly better screens than Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo or Huawei. Only Sony & HTC have probably better displays than LG's but it's debatable.
G2 G3 was a great success with its unique traits. Even surpassing Samsung in its own homeland
I liked some of the points made and some of the answers.
I think LG is stupid (after buying the V40) is they don't allow you to change the new buttons and sensors to the way you used to use them on your previous model. After all, they kept all the same buttons/sensors, only added new ones. As stated, I'm sure it was to garnish to an newer/broader audience, but in doing so, why not incorporate a way to program each button sensor to the users preference?
My two button's worth.

Thanks, "supported 7" isn't what I expected
Seems LG wants to cheat us somehow, why would it hide info about utilized sensors if it's not install different and cheapest ones for different markets? And we still don't know what sensor used in telephoto module, they say it's 1.0 mkm only, maybe even worse and cheaper than IMX351?
I'm getting tired of the "LG doesn't do anything different" garbage. Wide angle lens, stereo recording, unbelievable dac, headphone jack, aptx-hd support, MQA support, receiver-as-mic, HD recording, etc. Most phones don't have ANY of those things. LG's problem is that they keep technology rather than playing the Pixel game where they take features away then Pat themselves on the back when they reintroduce them.
LG suffers from a few things.....a terrible (and undeserved) image that reviewers and tech journalists refuse to let go of and a scarce marketing budget. Before the idiots scream bootloop let's remember that Samsung's phones we're literally blowing up. LG has an image problem and the reality is that they make one of the more well rounded phones out there.
I agree with @blown89.
I enjoyed the V10, V20, V30 (for 3 months before screen took a hit), then back to the V20 ... and now the V40. The improvements are on point and usually add up to a better product.
Except ... (laughing as I type this) ... One has to wonder how they let us turn on the screen from the Fingerprint Sensor ... but not turn out off that way!?!
Someone never came back from lunch to finish coding that button - - where is it normal to turn on things with one switch and turn them off with another ... LOLOL.
I know my complaint will soon have a remedy ... but it really is a stupid set up from factory.

I agree. At I type this my finger is resting on the fingerprint reader. It's easier to get that button that my finger is already on rather than change my grip, slide the phone down, and stretch for the power button. It's an underrated feature I wish they had retained. Having two separate power buttons doesn't make sense

So, I still may get either Sony IMX363 or Samsung S5K2L7 and wouldn't know which one I've got received? That's too bad.
And Samsung S5K3M3 in telephoto either isn't very promising, lacking OIS and having got only EIS
I'll definitely skip V40 myself, keeping G7. And if G8 won't get vastly better I seem to be inclining to get Samsung instead of failing LG

As of the locked bootloader, issues with obtaining root and maintaining updates from OTA at the same time and lack of custom roms I would rather choose Pocophone F1 nowdays. The battery is also smaller on this one and ONLY advantage of N8 over F1 is the camera from Carl Zeiss.

And at Amazon, the Nokia 8 is £100 cheaper than the Pocophone, I'd say that was a good advantage
I'm guessing you can get the Pocophone F1 or Honor Play for similar or less money in India? I'd seriously consider those (I own a Nokia 8 but if I was buying today I'd probably look elsewhere)
I haven't got any issue on OTA updates so I would always recommend Nokia 8. It hasn't give me any problem issue either, not even with Bluetooth as some people had wrote. I'm pleased with the camera quality, stock Nokia camera is decent enough, but if you want better post processing image to obtain better picture quality and really good HDR+ option you can install Google camera posted here in some thread. Another good option is installing open camera app from playstore, with it I can set up 4k at 60fps and it does record video without any crush. I haven't check on PC about if it's really recording at those parameters though.
Another plus that I believe is build quality. Nokia has been always outstanding in that department. I don't know about pocophone's build quality, nor endurance durability. So I can't say if it is good or bad. But I can surely say Nokia is better, no doubt. Lol
But of course, if you want better performance in paper I would recommend you pocophone, as it has the latest snapdragon processor and RAM I think (?).
I picked mine up at the beginning of August and don't regret the purchase at all. The camera issues are exaggerated - isn't great in low light, but it's pretty decent in normal light. To be honest if you want a really good camera you still need to buy a proper camera, but as phones go it's not terrible. The processor is more than up to most jobs. It's really nicely built - solid and with a decent metal back. At current prices you're getting a near top-end phone at mid-level prices.
don't go
, i bought Nokia 8 on very first day launch in india. it has image retention and heating issues.
only advantage is camera 2 api enabled by default.
so it can able to run gcam mode.
rather i would suggest go with mi a2 for overall all same stock experience with great camera and large aperture 1.75 with sony sensor. it would be joy to use gcam mode with this setup.
don't go with poco f1, display issues and camera is just worst and not even comparable to 2 year old mi5.
I have dual sim Nokia 8 and screen, looks like, shape of metal, plastics and screen is better than any Xiami phone ever. Nokia 8 is a top model of fashion for almost all mobile phones made it until now. It is really worth to buy in October too!
For me no heating problems, or any other. Camera with google or other aps are ok.

Just bought one so I hope so...
For the price nothing seems to compare now spec wise, I've got a 950xl that has some kind of weird power draw issue which has forced my hand to finally ditch windows phone.
Sadly instore the Nakia 7.1 instantly took a better picture but I found I hard to spend more money on a 'lesser' phone, hoping the updates and different camera make it better!
I personally really like the style on the Nokia, I was considering the oneplus but then for the difference in price for what you get, is it really worth spending over double? I was set on buying a P20 Pro, but photos didn't seem to compare to the 950xl (tried them side by side instore) and I learnt very quickly that I really hate the 'notch' at the top, figured if I'm settling might as well get a pretty phone, considering what else you can get with the same specs seems to be double the price at least in the UK so far i'm happy. and I've saved a fortune by not buying the P20 Pro
Don't buy any Nokia device if you want install custom ROM and or flash custom recovery.

I've just bought the missus one, £250 with a 2 year warranty is a no brainer, you could pay more for a Moto G6 Plus and get Pie and the odd security update in about 18 months if you are lucky.
The camera isn't as bad as people seem to get rather heated about, it is a bit crap in low light but for most situations it is fine.
I have had mine 11 months and it has been nothing other than great.
I agree. Camera is not bad. Also, it is not awesome but successful enough. I see the reality of colours is definitely good. I don't like to see fake and stupid colors in my pictures. It still worths to buy at the moment.

Now with unlocked bootloader you have a masterpiece in nokia 8. Good camera imo, very good radios - bluetooth connects to anything... Go for it
IMO the best Device in Years. Even w/o Root/BLU Android One is damn cool, I won't buy any Phone without One anymore. And having a 1/8" Jack which doens't suck (Compared to Sony's is Great), the SD Card Slot I can't live without having Hundreds of Gigabtes of Lossless Music, 16:9 but with Hardware Button seems more sensefull than 18:9 bc Videos still are 16:9 anyway, I still prefer IPS over OLED due to Burn-Ins... I haven't been Disappointed yet!
DO NOT BUY POCO F1. Im actually poco user and want to switch to this. Tons of bugs and problem that they still not fix after 1 months of release. there also screen bleeding issue, multitouch issue, weird audio issue while using headset while playing game and ugly notch. Stay away from poco
Edit : also MIUI is very bad OS. Tons of bloatware and they even put ads on anything like file manager or the weather widget. Its just soo annoying.
One more thing worth noted custom rom isnt really friendly now on xiaomi devices because they are putting anti rollback which will hard brick your device.
Just buy nokia because android one is far better.

I've just bought one of these too, £259 John Lewis and I think it's a bargain. I bought it as my Moto G LTE needed to be retired and I was going to go for a Moto G6 but when I saw this it was too good a bargain to refuse. I agree with you about Moto's not so good update policy. So far so good with the Nokia 8 and it ticks all my boxes, never use a phone cam for anything other than the odd snap or car bump, I've a DSLR for proper photography so a phone cam never really enters the equation.
