Hi all
Having searched the forums I can't seem to find a specific answer to this so hence the new thread
I'm just about to buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and have been researching the various options and add on's (ie USB/SD adaptors etc)... I currently have a Vodafone UK 3G USB dongle which is gathering dust...
If I were to buy the wifi version of this Tab, would I be able to connect the dongle to get internet access via the combination of USB adaptor and dongle? - I'm kinda expecting an answer saying no as there are driver issues... or only possible with a custom Rom...
Any advice would be appreciated
Hello,
Well, my advice is simple. Remove that SIM card from the 3G USB dongle and put it into your Tab. Then you can use the 3G without adapter and in case you need the 3G connection you can share it via USB cable or WiFi. Since you carry with you always your Tab, do not you?

in other words, you are advising against getting wifi only.
Anyway, @mistxx, this is a forum for the original Galaxy Tab 7".
You are probably better off searching in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 forum or asking in the Q&A there.
Yes, I do because the price difference in my country between the 3G and the WiFi only version is 85 EUR. The special USB adapter to the Tab costs 30 EUR. So the difference is only 55 Euro for a dual band WiFi n built in card.

Thanks for your comments.. the difference between 3g and wifi model is a lot more here in the UK.

I found the Galaxy Tab 3G w/32GB of memory unlocked and priced at $800 US. They also have a 16GB available too (can't remember price). I haven't heard if 3G service is available for both phone calls and data. Does anyone have any information on the Tabs being sold in the Middle East?
I got mine from souq.com. The prices are dirty cheap as mostly are used but in excellent condition. 32gb are 3g plus wifi whereas 16gb are either 36 plus wifi or 3g alone.axiom and jackys electronics in uae/ksa are selling 32gb variants. I recommend souq.com for good deals.
Thanks for the links. Are the tablets sold in the middle east capable of 3g voice and data?
yep!TAB is a phone cum tablet it has all phone features which includes 3g radio support as for video calling ain't sure.
Hello all,
A few months ago while in Europe I as going to purchase a Euro Galaxy tab which was already voice-call ready. But then friends here on XDA advised me that due to frequency differences, 3G coverage etc, I should just buy a U.S. tab and then flash it to make calls. (which I did, & thanks again guys!!)
So now I may be able to get my hands on a stock Euro Dell Streak 7 that is also a fully working phone. Should I purchase the Euro version, or buy the gimped U.S. version & wait for the Euro phone rom to come around? Does the possible 'No 3G coverage' still apply, or would I just be able to drop my sim & go? just wondering.
Thanks!! Any info is greatly appreciated!!!
**I'm also looking into a Euro Galaxy Tab 8 & 10.

I didn't think there was a Euro version of the Streak 7 that could make calls.

You're right..., the on-line seller was mistaken. It was a euro Dell Streak 5 (phone) that was mistakenly advertised as a Dell Streak 7 phone. Looks like I might pick up a Streak 5 until the ATT Galaxy tab mess gets sorted out:

Any help would be greatly appericated.
Hello Guys,
I found a Samsung Galaxy Tablet P1000T http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_p1000_galaxy_tab-3370.php in local market (used product). I want to know about it's pros and cons so I can decide whether I buy it or leave it.
Thanks in advance for your input
Telstra device.
It has 850Mhz 3G modem that is usable for ( and I think only for) NextG.

I tried Telenor Pakistan which gives me 1 bar on Signal Strength however on Zong Pakistan it gives me full bars and normal usage as sim works on other phones. I am now looking a way to unlock it for other networks to get full signal bars
I found a 5 dollar usb host adapter for the p7300 and p7310 which are the normal samsung models. I think it should work with the att version since it has the same 30 pin port. If anyone knows that it works please let me know. Thanks, i dont want to pay $20 to att to get ripped off
